The reviews for this place have not been kind which is why I've avoided this place since moving here in late Summer of 2025. I decided to give them a chance today and I'm glad I did. Their prices for 1 or 2 topping pizzas are lower than anywhere you're ever going to get outside of maybe Little Caesars. I got a 10" two topping small pizza for under $10. And most importantly, the pizza was awesome and they even followed instructions on not cutting it. I like to get my pizzas uncut and then doctor them up a little more to my liking and then reheat. I also got a small garden salad which is little pricey for how much you get but that's everywhere these days. I'll be back. read more

Mr D's Pizza Palace - Small 10" pizza with pepperoni and banana peppers (Uncut upon request) - Pizza Near Me - Mount Holly, North Carolina

I've been eating at Mr D Pizza since I moved to Mount Holly in 1997. I always get exactly what I ask for and I have never been disappointed. Their pizzas are the best in this area. There are 4 or 5 pizza joints with a 2 mile area to my home , and I've eaten at all of them but I always regret going to them because although their pizzas are edible they don't put their heart and soul in making a good pizza like Mr D's pizza are made. I have to have my pizza made a particular way. The head chef knows who I am. Oh by the way they make a really great Stromboli and a pita burger that is sooo good. So glad they are still there after nearly 30 years. That' says something about a pizza parlor that's been here in Mount Holly that long. They are my go to place for the best meat lovers pizza. PS. My brother lives in a little town outside of San Antonio, Texas and every-time he and his family come up to visit me , the first thing he says is let's go get a Mr. D pizza. He drives up here to get his pizza and that 1261 miles he drives thinking about that pizza he knows he's going to love. So you see, people from Texas know about this fine restaurant. I give them 5 STARS ! read more

Advertised as dine in. Even had booths. When I asked to dine in, was told "we don't do dine in." No offer to wait while the pizza was made, no offer to use the booths...obviously did not want my business. Would not return. read more

Was picking up an order and had to wait a while, so I asked for a cup of water. Only for the lady at the register to have a rude confrontation that "they don't have any cups or ice" and tried to force me into buying a bottle of water... I probably would have bought it if you had a little bit of customer service... not coming back here. What kind of restaurant doesn't have cups? And rude? read more

Mr D's Pizza Palace - Cooler and rude host - Pizza Near Me - Mount Holly, North Carolina

Probably some of the rudest service I have ever encountered. If you like the food and don't care about the experience this place is for you but if you care about how you are treated by someone while spending your money I would avoid the place. read more

Back to the great Mr D's that I remember when my kids were young!! Awesome Food and very fast, tough combination read more

I had a $50 order tonight at Mr. D's. The mushroom app was burnt tasting and somehow burnt and soggy. I tried to eat but tasted terrible. I called back to ask if they could remake them and the hostess transfered me to the owner. The owner told me if he redone them they would be the same because if not the mushrooms would still be frozen. I think maybe the grease was bad or something because the taste was so bad. The owner hung up on me after telling me he can't help. He was very rude and had zero customer service for someone who just picked up a $50 order for a couple subs and mushrooms. He really had the worst tone and seemed angry. read more

Mr D's Pizza Palace - Burnt fried Mushrooms - Pizza Near Me - Mount Holly, North Carolina

This place has delicious pizza. It's very consistent and quick. The couple who owns it is hilarious though. They seriously hate each other and are pretty reliably going to be in some kind of fight when you show up to pick up your pizza, so if that makes you uncomfortable, you should get it delivered. But don't skip it! Great pizza! read more

Mr. D's is consistently our favorite place to get dinner if we've run out of ideas. We've tried about everything on the menu and we've never been disappointed. My husband's favorites are the Cheese Sticks, Blue Max Burger, Wings, & the Baked Ziti w/ Meat Sauce. My favorites are the huge fresh Garden Salad, Tuscany Panini, & the Cheese Stuffed Shells pasta. read more

Food is awesome!!!! Service is great and I'm happy every time I get pizza there! Long over due for some Mr. D's

I hate to be one of those people, but this pizza was so greasy and nastyit was even worse the next day.

What in the heck is going on with this place? Truly one of the worst establishments I've ever visited. The 'server' has absolutely no Customer service skills, seems mad at the world, aggressive, and the has the worst attitude. Why are you so angry, ma'am? Secondly, the cook, cuz I would NEVER call him anything more than that, was visibly upset at everything, every single thing. Every time there was something 'extra' or different about an order, he's back there cursing everyone and their mother out. Completely unacceptable when that can be heard into the dining room. Not to mention the OBVIOUS health violations going, here's a couple example. No glove use with ready to eat foods, no hair restraint(neither cook nor server), and the cook also going between raw and ready to eat food, not to mention that when the server lady was told, I know what he's back there saying and I can see what he's doing, she dismissed me and told the cook 'you have someone that wants to talk to you.' And once again, was met with confrontation, and an ill mannered attitude. Once he realized I knew everything he was saying, suddenly he wasn't taking about me or my order, that's complete b.s. I ordered through DoorDash and my order was more than 30 minutes late because it wasn't started until I GOT THERE. THAT IS INSANE! Now I don't trust my food, the people, or the establishment AT ALL. read more

Tried Mr D's for the first time yesterday. Now my favorite pizza in Mount Holly. Will be ordering again for sure!

I have never gotten bad food from Mr. D's. They are always on point with whatever we order whether it be pizza or a cheeseburger. They are quick and friendly. This has got to be the best pizza around. We have ordered from there many, many times and there has never been a mistake with our order at all. If you're looking to try a place that has pizza, stromboli, calzones, spaghetti, sub sandwiches, cheeseburgers, fries, appetizers and much more, then this is the place for you. Most definitely try it out. You'll love it. read more

Got my go-to pizza. One pepperoni pizza and one Grecia pizza. Love it! Lots of cheese and flavor. Definitely best pizza in Eastern Gaston County. read more

Ordered a pepperoni with lots of cheese Stromboli and boy did they deliver! The food was delicious!!! Lots of cheese! The portion was huge. My husband and I ate off of it for two days. We ordered via the phone and the gentleman that took our order was as sweet as can be. When I went in to pick up the lady at the counter was very nice also. Happy to see a little local dive busy! We will definitely come back here. Often. Give them a chance! read more

I made the grave mistake of ordering here using DoorDash - this was the most disgusting food I've ever had. The pizza tasted like frozen grocery store pizza, the chicken parm sub had very little sauce which was probably a good thing cause it clearly was from a jar. I also ordered an antipasto salad, I never knew until tonight that you could screw up a salad, it literally was just ice burg lettuce cut up, a small slice of old tomato, one (just one) olive with sliced pepperoni - yep, that was all, no sign of cheese or other meats that make it an antipasto salad. It was so bad my kids (who eat anything) wouldn't eat it so I still had to cook for them. Huge waste of money. read more

I placed a pick-up order at 7:40 and was told that it would be 20 minutes. That was fine by me as the usual wait that I've had is around 15 minutes. I walked through the doors around 8:10, expecting to immediately pay, get my food and leave. After all, that is the point of carry-out, is it not? Unfortunately, that didn't happen. When I walked in I gave them my name and paid for my order. But then I had to wait more than 10 minutes to get my food. Unacceptable. There was already a 10 minute buffer that I allowed but apparently 30 minutes still wasn't long enough to prepare two subs. Not once during that extra wait was I acknowledged or told what the hold up was. If I had not already paid for the food, I would have left. When I finally got my food, I didn't even receive an apology for the ridiculous wait time. When I and the person I was with finally got around to eating our subs, we could taste onion in certain spots. We didn't order onions and there weren't any on the sub. But someone had to have put some on them and then taken them off because onion had clearly permeated parts of the sandwich. My sandwich didn't even have true tomato slices. Just chunks of tomato. The quality of food and service was sub-par here. This was such a sour experience. I won't be back. read more

I absolutely love this place, it is one of those true Italian/Greek restaurants. The pizzas are always one of a kind and the calzones and pastas have been nice. Actually ordering a pizza as we speak... read more

This is actually my favorite pizza place in the area. It's loaded with toppings and cheese and tastes great. The sandwiches and wings are good too and the blue cheese is amazing. I usually get takeout because I am no longer in the delivery area but have also ate here a few times. The dining area is ok could be a bit nicer but passable. The food is a little greasy but that should be expected with lots of cheese and toppings. Their meat pizza is my favorite by far. read more

So I've tried a couple different things here and I'm yet to be impressed. Today I got there "Calabria panini" ...it came on a toasted hoagie bun, with 1 skimpy tomato slice and regular mayo (was supposed to have pesto sauce). It was so bland and the fries were also gross. Needless to say, this will be the last time I order from here! Definitely wldnt recommend!! read more

The rudest woman works there. Forgot our condiments on door dash for an $6 delivery charge and she flips on us and says she never makes it wrong!! So unprofessional she is the worst person. I will never be back! read more

Terrible, wings it's the only most decent thing to eat. Service is bad, subs are bad. I hate subway but I have to admit it's better than this place. Never again!! read more

Great pizza and their cheese steaks are awesome as well. They deliver which is convenient, and I would recommend trying this place if you haven't. One of my favorite in mt holly. read more

No. Just no. We went here when we moved to Mount Holly because we were told the food was good. Well, food has to be cooked to be good. We got Stromboli and the dough wasn't even cooked! Everything inside was gross anyway. The only thing decent was the fries. The delivery driver also kept coming in and out of the parking lot at 45 mph. Terrible experience and haven't been back. read more

The Food is very good and affordable. They have a decent variety to choose from although it is primarily Italian food. They stay open until 10 most nights so that is a plus also. With very few non chain restaurants offering delivery they rank pretty high as far as local owned businesses go. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is not a fancy place nor is it a big place! The pizza's, subs, spaghetti and fries are great!! read more

Awesome pizza,Salads and subs Love the food,

Pizza and crust is the best in town. Usually have it delivered and are at the house when they say, but give yourself an hour. Wings are a little overcooked, but still good. read more

Customer service was completely rude and unprofessional. Would not let me speak to a manager. Nor give me their name. I was told by one person the delivery guy was running late at 12:30 and by another that the driver doesn't get in until 2. After lunch rush? We enjoy the food but after that experience over the phone and their staff calling me rude, they will not be getting business from us and the word will be spread to everyone we know! read more
