This is another drive-by find located on Broadway in Kingston, NY my non-Yelp husband noticed. We…read morethought we could snag a table for the evening at this queue-worthy spot the same day we'd noticed it earlier in the day but timing wasn't on our side. We tried for a next time. The bar is open for walk-ins, greeting from the host/owner(?) was pleasant from the get-go and our server, was also on point the entire evening. For those who believe that sharing is caring when eating out, this might be for you! However, Mirador is one of those places where you look behind the menu and expect more options. This loosely inspired Andalucian spot offers selections way smaller than a typical tapa- but, in so saying, it's much loved for the vibe and menu. Although Mirador has accepted the Andalucian way, the food culture hasn't made its way to the menu and missed the mark on some heavy-duty Spaniard ingredients such as garbanzos, GARLIC, shrimp, etc. And while we're having that conversation, our "sangria" wasn't what we expected and made with tequila ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. We could barely taste the 4 tiny slivers of fluke crudo underneath a big citrusy and icy/foamy cloud topping and the same with the Chanterelles in our croquettes. If you want your customers to leave fast, then serve smaller-than-typical-tapas. The biggest tapa for us was a thinly sliced fennel+green salad in a refreshing dressing. If you want to sop up some bread in shrimp+ garlicky oil- none of the classic tapas are here. On the flip side, you come to Mirador because they do a terrific job of bringing people together over super lite and inventive bites and sips.

This whole time, I really thought this place was inside a cozy hotel about 2 blocks over. Guess you learn something new every day. We pulled up on a Thurs. around 4 with no res. and got seated real quick. Restaurant K. is airy, chic and gives a relaxed vibe. The menu is on the smaller side, but honestly, there's something for every eating style. We kept things light instead of diving into something heavy. Our spring greens salad was really good: hefty mound of mixed greens, lima beans, string beans and a hint of dill to make everything pop. Hubs had the double-stacked burger with white cheddar on a potato bun and loved it. I had high hopes for the hush puppies because they sounded amazing on paper- but they were doughy than corny and threw me off. Then came dessert. Again- sounded great on paper. It kinda feels like desserts get a "reinvented" treatment here(?). For instance, the strawberry shortcake was deconstructed: a few chunks of white cake, some diced strawberries and whipped cream. Totally unexpected. I ordered the 'Fun-Fetti Dunkaroos' with madeleines because they caught my eye, but they're smaller than standard. The food isn't bad at all. We were just caught off guard by how some of our selections were prepped. What really saved the evening were the cocktails. They were beautifully made and had a lot of strength. No watered-down nonsense here! Plus, our server Karina(?) was super sweet. I asked if I could try the passion fruit purée to see if it was the real deal for one of the cocktails I ordered and she brought me a little sample. Passed the test!

Lovely space with fantastic food! Lots of different textures and flavors. Service was good and felt…read morewell taken care of.

The bartender here is in her zone, she definitely knows what shes doing&runs her space like a boss!!!! We sat at the bar for a few drinks before being seated. The young lady (hostess) who we encountered for seating was the only who rubbed me the wrong way..no smiles, all business.."do u have a reservation " NO, & she just wasnt on her game I guess(Olivia?) But in comes Dan, our server, what a gem! Our food was great, my friend really enjoys his short ribs cavatelli, my husband ordered the half jerk chicken & didnt even leave a crumb! I had the maple glazed Salmon, and it delivered mouth watering goodness with just enough sweetness from the maple but not overpowering. Way to go guys, now I know to make this a staple in my after work rounds.

They have a lot of seating and a good menu price range. My favorite thing about the menu is that they have duck fat fries! If you never had your French fries fried in duck fat then you are missing out!!! Now I wish I could give them 3.5 stars. I highly raved about this place but the last time I came it was such a disappointment. Our waitress though very friendly was not very attentive. We couldn't find her when we needed things and when we asked for things she didn't bring them. Now I'm sure she was busy and we never complained but that mixed with the fact that our food was just alright made me drop it a few stars. Also the cleanliness of the restaurant wasn't the best, including the glassware. Now to be fair every other time I have come the food was fantastic. I typically always get the general tso fried chicken sandwich and I love it. So maybe it was an off day we all have those. I will go back again and see if they redeem themselves! Also I just want to make mention the sandwiches do not come with duck fat fries you have to specifically ask for them to be the duck fat ones.
