Needed a fast and less expensive upgrade for a bathroom in a house we just moved in to. Andre and Kevin did a great job given our quick time frame!

The "after" shower pan. Clean and white!

The staff at Mr. Bathtub were very helpful in a shower pan refurbish. First, they were able to move up a previously scheduled appointment, which already was above and beyond. When the technician came, he was punctual and helpful. He explained everything that he was going to be doing for the refurbish and was clear about what he was and wasn't capable of doing. The whole job took about three days, which included time for varnishes and primers to set. The one thing to know is that they do not work at all on Sundays, so if you need something done quickly, the weekend might not be the best choice. Overall, they're great for service and dependability!

Gorgeous job! Looks better than it did when it was first remodeled 20 years ago.

If I could give a 6th star I would! Outstanding service! The quality is unbelievable. The bathroom looks better than it did when it was first updated. I would highly recommend Mr. Bathtub!

Mr Bathtub was responsive and professional. They were able to come in and complete the job as scheduled. Great communication too. Thank you!!!

Great service! Prompt and efficient, Thomas of Mr. Bathtub refinished our tub in no time. It looks great, and the non-slip texture is a welcome addition. Thanks!

This is the second time I have used Mr. Bathtub in my home. This time they refinished a tub. Breanna handled the scheduling professionally and Jose arrived for the project. He meticulously prepared the area. He removed the shower door with care. The resurfacing and applied caulking turned out fantastic. Jose takes pride in his craft and wants to ensure the customer is completely satisfied. I contacted Andre, the owner, about another job. He provided an estimate that I feel is fair. I look forward to working with them in the future. Go local, go Mr. Bathtub.

I'm not happy with the results, it was never right. They came and tried to fix it, but actually made it worse. Since then I've been living with the paint peeling off and continuing to get worse.

    After

My bathroom was dated, had pink tile and an odd sized tub. So I undertook a DIY remodel, new floor, vanity, cabinet, tile... and, critically, a bathtub refinishing. I contacted Mr Bathtub over a year ago to get a quote. When I contacted them again this past fall they remembered me and the quote hadn't changed. As I was doing the work myself I had to schedule and reschedule the appointment a couple times. I was worried about how the finished product would look given my amateur tiling skills. Jose came out, he was prompt, friendly and tolerated my overactive puppy. He also didn't even criticize my work. He prepped and painted. Back the next day to finish. The whole process was painless. I would highly recommend Mr Bathtub for your refinishing needs.

Just was wonderful to work with and was very honest and upfront to what the finished product would look like. We agreed the natural color would look best. It took about 10 days and the results were amazing. It turned out way better than my highest expectation. Also need to point out we previously had new 5 inch baseboards installed and virtually no damage to them. They keep us abreast of what the progress was. Juan and his crew are the very definition of professional.

This is a very delayed review- I had my hardwood floors redone by Peninsula Floors last year, but I…read morestill find myself thinking about the experience so I decided it might be helpful to others to share. The bottom line is that the bulk of the work was good, I'm overall satisfied with the results, and am glad that we got the floors refinished. However, there were several details about the experience that would make me hesitate to recommend Peninsula to friends or others looking to redo their floors. - I was initially quoted ~7-8 working days to redo the floors. The initial work actually took closer to 13 working days, and it took another 7 working days on top of that to complete followup items after I reviewed the initial work. To be fair, I was traveling for about 5 of those working days during some of the initial work and probably caused a bit of delay in my own responses being slow, but I also don't think that all of the delay was due to myself. - When provided stain samples, I was initially provided the wrong names corresponding to the samples. This was only noticed because I asked for another set of samples in another area of the house and was confused as to why the colors varied so much, and asked about it- otherwise it's very possible I would have selected a completely different color than what I intended. - There was some damage done by the sander to our metal stair railing, which they did patch up with paint, but it's still visible where the damage was. Also, initially only some of the stairs in the home had the scotia trim replaced- when I asked the ones where the previous paint clearly showed they also used to have trim, they just added it to all of the stairs regardless of which ones did or didn't have it before. There was also a tricky area in a closet that I said I would be okay not refinishing, and instead it was sanded but not refinished due to not being able to get into that area- I would have just preferred the initial topcoat wasn't removed in that case, because that area is now just unprotected wood. None of these details were mentioned to me or provided as project updates until I asked about them. - Lastly, after I had sent the final payment through, I realized some of our doorstops were missing after having been removed from the trim to not get in the way of the sanders. I asked where the team may have left them so I could reattach them and got no response. It's not a big deal, they were less than $5, but later, after moving in, I also asked about if there were cleaning/maintenance products they would recommend and also got no response. Being completely ghosted after having dealt with some of the difficulties mentioned above really left me feeling like they totally wrote me off as a customer and was not a pleasant way to end the project. I think they do decent work, but I suspect they're a bit stretched thin and smaller/less important jobs are not supervised as much and don't seem like they have the same quality bar. If I were to do it again, I feel like I would have been happier supervising more closely from the start. Edit- I appreciate Juan's response (below and privately), however I do want to make clear that not everything was addressed as I was told they would be. For example, for the incompletely sanded and unfinished area of the closet I mentioned above, I was told it would at least have some form of finish applied, which never happened. There were a few other details like this, but at some point it was no longer worth my time to chase them down especially as we were getting close to our move in which we initially thought we would have far more buffer for.

Al and his crew removed the glass front and replaced it with a solid panel of wood and perfectly matched it to the clock. You would never know that it had been something else before. The second project, just completed, was a perpetual trophy my son won and keeps for a year. It has been in sad condition for some time. The wood base was cracking at the seams and had warped so it was rocky. The "loving" cup which sits atop the base was dented and one of the handles had broken off (not by my son! ;-). It's 33 years old and has been through a lot of hands. First, Al recommended Biro and Sons silversmiths in San Francisco to repair the cup portion of the trophy. I brought it there and they fixed the poor trophy so it looks as if it never had a dent or broken handle. They were fantastic and very pleasant there. I brought the repaired cup back to Bay Area Restoration and they fixed the wood base and attached the cup in such a way that it will NEVER come loose and fall again! That is undoubtedly how the handle broke before and the cup was dented. It looks SO good now. They charged a reasonable fee for each project and finished the projects in a timely manner. They are very nice people and, as a bonus and if you are lucky, Stella the dog might be in the shop. She's a very sweet dog!

During the intial visit he talked a good game, although it was difficult to be around him due to an overpowering cigarette stench. Then he came back with a co-worker to do repairs onsite. He did properly re-align molding on one piece that was displaced by the movers, but to repair scratches and gouges on other surfaces he indiscriminately sprayed tinted laquer that bonded to and damaged the otherwise pristine original surface. I was subsequently told by another refinisher that it would cost more than $2,000 to undo the damage that Val had done to the surface. On a different piece he reglued a spire that had broken off leaving a very visible crack line, but he considered the job finished by whipping out the spray lacquer again, this time leaving a huge overspray landing on the wall I had just painted the week before. He was messy and unprofessional. Maybe he was a different person when he earned the earlier reviews that sing his praises. Maybe he's lost his skills over the years. Regardless of the reason for the mess he made on my job, RUN!!!

After a little more…read morethan 1 week of waiting and having my other furniture refinish appointment get delayed, I read a review saying the owner was more responsive over text message and gave it a shot. It was about 11pm so I didn't expect a response until the next morning but I got rapid fire responses and was able to schedule an appointment the following week after confirming a few details (namely, insurance to cover the table if it is damaged) I wanted to re-finish an epoxy resin waterfall table that I messed up on and wanted to restore its matte finish. The table was picked up and I was told to expect it to be done within 1 week. About a week went by, I checked in for any updates and pictures and was told they just put on the first coat. Another week went by and the second coat was applied but was told the issue prior to the work is still visible. I was then upsold to switch to CV (previous was using rubio/osmo to finish). Being fairly unknowledgable about finishes, I asked a few questions and was just told it was better. I did some basic research (chatgpt, reddit, youtube, etc.) and was fine with it. It cost an extra $100 but the labor to re-sand the surface to remove the rubio applied was covered. All in all, about 3 weeks went by and I received the refinished product. Overall, I it looks as I wanted it to. Mauricio handled the initial pickup and subsequent re-delivery so the process is very convenient if you are busy and don't want to plan how to transport heavy furniture. Some notes: - Its best to reach out via text message to Mauricio and to do so at some regular cadence if you want updates. Perhaps calling would be more expedient if you have the time. - There's a lot of promises or statements that were not followed through (e.g. I'll send an invoice by end of day, I'll send updated pictures by end of day, etc.). See first point. - Estimate may be over-exaggerated. The project went from 1 week to 3 weeks. - It would be nice to do a pros/cons breakdown or simply spend a few sentence educating clients on the trade off of finishes (e.g. Rubio vs Osmo, Rubio vs CV, etc.).
