I get it, with 15+ years of student tenant wear and tear, this was not going to be an easy job in the slightest. However, Long, to his credit, did not try and take me or my mother for a ride for his own financial gain. Not only did his quote come in the lowest of all of them, he was also able to start the soonest. He finished in exactly the amount of time he quoted and made these extremely beaten up floors look brand new. His restoration work made all the difference when we put the house back on the rental market. We were able to attract a whole category of kind of tenant. Fingers crossed, the much less destructive kind. We have since asked him back to lay down vinyl flooring and he did an impeccable job. Will gladly call him again for all future work we need. He does excellent work, is great at communicating, and an all around lovely guy!

And I admit, I put a lot of wear and tear on it as well. The finish had many water stains, scratches, and dents but what was worse - the drawers inside were unusable. I couldn't get them open or closed. But in January 2024, I used Lugg to haul it to Boris and he transformed it into magnificence. Unbelievable. Beautiful. Fast forward to this fall, I had an antique desk that I'd picked up off the street about 20 years ago. Its finish was so bad, I just painted some ugly red marble finish over it. Many coats. Then I put glass over the top. I had it like that for 20 years. It wasn't ok, but first the glass cracked and when I tried to remove it, it stuck to the paint and wrecked the surface. Plus being near a window, there was much sun damage. So I took it to Boris and he worked his magic, restoring it to its original walnut finish. I simply cannot believe how beautiful it is. I had no idea it's wood was so nice, So in conclusion, YES, I highly recommend this business. Be willing to wait 4-6 weeks, buts what you will get back is really something to treasure. She wanted to make sure her seamstress was there & available to measure me. I needed alterations for my sister's upcoming wedding and had about 1-1.5 weeks of turnaround time. Shay assured me that alterations were definitely possible and they delivered on their promise! The pants just needed a simple hem and new waist button, but the dress was a double-layered fabric that I needed to take up a few inches. I think I paid about $70-90? for both, which was a looooot more affordable than other quotes I got from other tailors in the area. They have a small fitting area that's curtained off, so you can try on your alterations to make sure they fit well. I was very happy to see myself in the dress for the first time. Parking is usually available in the lot that the store is at, but there's a couple bumps and potholes to watch out for -- that's not Broadmoor Cleaners' responsibility, but naming it for folks who might have accessibility challenges. The best part is that they're open later into the evening, so you don't have to rush on the way back home from the city for pickup/dropoff. 10/10 experience, and will definitely be back for future alterations!!

These people refinished a walnut dining set, including re-upholstering the six dining chairs. They gave me an estimate based on photos and adjusted the price up slightly when the actual furniture presented some issues not evident from the photos. The cost was quite reasonable given my quality demands. They shopped for just the right fabric to match the existing chair upholstery in both quality and color. They kept me informed throughout the process and met estimates for cost and time to complete the work. The refinishing work was superb - much better than any refinishing I had done on these pieces since I commissioned the set 40 years ago. The upholstery was excellent work, too. I would strongly recommend Marina's Crafts for furniture repair. We have a large, heavy, ornate dark wood coffee table that needed much work through the years due to nicks, scratches and the finish wearing down. Her husband Andrei came over and assessed it and gave us a price and time frame and both were better than I expected. He said that the finish would need to be taken down to the original wood and refinished but he was up to the task. As it turned out, he finished quicker than expected and brought it back over and it looks like a brand new piece of furniture and we are delighted with it. If you have upholstery needs, and live in the Bay Area, there is really no reason to go anywhere else but Marina Craft. I'm an interior designer by profession who is very particular, and when I needed my RH outdoor sectional reupholstered I found Marina Crafts and couldn't be happier with the results. Marina gave us a great in-home consultation where we picked new fabric (She brought so many books!) We didn't know really which fabrics would be right but she did. BEST of Bay Area !!! They did refinishing of several items for me - dining chairs. Marinas Crafts also made a beautiful king walnut bed and walnut nightstands for me. They did a fantastic job. There were 2 holes about the size of a pinky and the cavity is about the size that could fit my thumb up to its nailbed. I reached out to a few folks and got quotes. Given my prior positive experience, I reached out to Mauricio to see if this could be done. I also noticed 2 holes that I'm not sure if it was there when I first got the furniture or if something else bore out. These were about the size of a dull pencil tip but on the underside of the furniture. Mauricio was extremely patient with me upon getting the details as I was considering getting a second opinion from some local exterminators on the risk of another emergence. Eventually, I figured out some details and booked an appointment. Everything was quickly scheduled with Edgar who arrived on time promptly and quickly went to work fixing the 4 holes. By the time it was finished, I could only vaguely guess where the holes were. To someone who didn't know about the holes, it would look almost natural. All in all, this took roughly an hour or so to complete. Edgar was sure to clean up after himself and laid out some paper padding to capture any mess left behind and prevent it from touching the floor. Overall, I was happy with the price and quality of work done.

My wife and I have had great experiences with two other woodworkers in San Francisco, but they were…read moreunavailable for this project, so we hired SF Custom Woodworks to: 1. build a windowbox which would also function as a headboard for a bed, with built-in drawers and hinged openings for storage, made of ash veneer on plywood 2. cut a large slab desk which previously filled that window into two smaller desk slabs, to be installed elsewhere Our main contact was Alex, who was great to work with: rapidly responsive at all hours, friendly, accommodating. We were quoted $7,850. Remarkably, the windowbox was built and installed in less than a week. Unfortunately, the attention to detail in execution was poor: * the seams between the four main pieces aren't properly aligned, producing unsightly and rough-feeling edges * many of the edges were cut in a way which badly chipped the veneer * one of the hinged openings is badly misaligned, resting several mm above the surface * a drawer face was delivered with a stray drill hole * one of the main front faces was delivered with a large gouge * one of the drawers was designed to hold a CPAP machine; Alex carefully measured it, but delivered a drawer which didn't fit it * the drawer faces were attached with finishing nails rather than hidden joinery; the nail holes were then covered with poorly matching filler * the desk slabs were returned to us with gouges in the main surface, a 2" divot taken out of an edge face, and unfinished sides Alex told us that the misalignments are because our floor isn't level--which is fine, but the other two woodworkers we've worked with carefully shimmed their bases into place on-site so that everything would be level. Alex told us that finishing nails were necessary to attach the drawer faces, but another woodworker who built ash veneer cabinets for us produced beautiful results with hidden joinery. We sent Alex a list of 13 issues with photos; Alex gamely told us that he'd send one of his woodworkers to fix all but one issue. After a month delay with several reschedulings on both sides, the woodworker came. He fixed the two issues with the desk slabs, but in the process he also partially removed its surface finish, without comment and without offering to refinish it. He said he didn't know how to fix the other issues, and we were left with unfinished desks we still couldn't install. At this point, Alex stopped responding to messages. I gave up and refinished the desk slabs myself, which took about five hours. We planned to put a cushion on half the windowbox and leave the other half exposed, to enjoy the wood tone, but because the execution quality on the windowbox was poor, we decided to cover the whole thing with cushions instead. They meant well, I think, and they really did try. They did deliver roughly the windowbox we wanted, though with a low level of craftsmanship. I think they just don't have the skills/experience needed to execute this project well, and we didn't realize that before hiring them.

We had two projects: 1. Replacement of table legs (to a midcentury modern teak table) that were…read morelost by the moving company during a recent move, and 2. Replacement of six worn dining chair seat cushions and making the chairs more stable and safe. Alex and his crew did a great job with both, using solid teak legs for the table and dissembling and reglueing the dining chairs and fixing the seat cushions. The mohair chair backs were in good shape, and glued to the frame, so we wanted to keep them, though the seats had no cushion left and needed replacement. Alex closely matched the mohair backs- as he said, "a little different style but you'll like it!" We do! The cost was very reasonable and both projects were done in less than a week, with pickup and delivery. It was a pleasure working with him: great communicator, knowledgeable, and honest. Highly recommend.
