I've never had Mr. A Beignets but I have had beignets before. These were delicious. I ordered them from their food truck at a neighborhood event. I was a bit bummed that they only offered their Trio (3 large beignets) or the dozen (13 large beignets). Their normal menu also offers a dozen mini beignets and "add on" beignets. I was excited to try the minis but settled for the regular size. They offered 3 types of dipping sauces - Hershey's chocolate, Hershey's caramel and Nutella for $1 each. They were already heavily dusted with powdered sugar so I didn't bother with the sauces. Now, the beignets...piping hot and pillowy! So delicious. Mine were a tad overcooked so they were thinner than normal but still a yummy treat. I could only eat 2 so I plan to save one for breakfast...I wonder if they'll be good reheated?! I would love to see them have the option for cinnamon sugar as a topping in addition to powdered sugar. I wouldn't say these were any better than other beignets I've had but they're wonderful. The girl who took my order was very friendly too! Go get you some!

So when I first saw this place, I was imagining simple fried donuts, but when I got there I got these amazing powdered square beignets ($5 for 4). I have to say I was very impressed by how simple yet delicious it was. The beignet was fresh out of the fryer and the dough was perfectly fried. The powdered sugar paired well with the fried dough as well. I am personally a chocolate fan so did wish there was something to drizzle on top, but the beignets were honestly amazing the way they were. Would recommend eating them fresh as they did not taste as great when I got home. I also got their coffee. Nothing too special, but did have an earthy tone to it. I like where this food truck is located in downtown Apex. There are other food trucks next to it making it feel pretty lively. Ample parking as well. Staff is great and very friendly as well. Overall, love this place and I also think it is very unique. Would recommend checking it out if in downtown Apex.

Lovely pillowy beignets! They were delicious, but gave one less star because only 3 of them were $7. That seems a bit pricey. They are tasty however. So if you were searching for a beignet, you will not be disappointed with these. Of note, this is a food truck. So, it is best to check their website for their location.

We got these beignets at Peakfest in downtown Apex after seeing the truck around town. They are light on the inside and drenched in powdered sugar. Be prepared to get messy if you order these. They are good and would probably be better with coffee but I don't know if they are the best beignets I've ever had.

Discovered today that this truck is located dangerously close to my house ! These beignets are the REAL THING. We recently went to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans and I can seriously say without a doubt that these are equivalent to the beignets that we ate (on more than one day) there. The line does form but they are pretty quick about getting them out. Only downside is that there are no tables to sit and eat at. You do not want to eat these in your car unless you are about to clean it out. That yummy powder sugar can do some damage to your interior:

Love the beignets here, perhaps too much. I did not try the coffee, as I'm not a fan of New Orlean's style. The beignets were custom cooked, and quite delicious! I would definitely buy them again. Give it a whirl! read more

Never been to New Orleans but I can only imagine these are as good or better than what i would find in Louisiana. They're like little pillows made for eating with the perfect amount of powdered sugar dusting to accompany the multiple spread choices for dipping : ). Sometimes when I eat at foodtrucks it just seems like a job but you can tell this family and Mr. A really enjoy what they do. read more

Just mentioning, Mr. A's is a food truck, but it's well worth visiting!!! I've never been to N'awlins but I don't have to go there for beignets because we have them right here in Apex :) Melt in your mouth, light dusting of powdered sugar, perfect. I have to stop myself from buying a dozen, because I'd probably eat all! of them. I've visited this truck about 8 times, consistently delicious and very addictive. :) Check it out, you won't be disappointed. read more

I just happened to be in Apex in the morning, so I stopped here for some beignets. I have never been to New Orleans and am not a beignet expert. However, I thought these were delicious. They are on the order of zeppole, and to an Italian, a powdery pillow of fried dough is heaven. This is a fun stop. There's plenty of parking, and when I went, there was a brisk business but not a long wait. The chicory coffee was excellent too. read more

I've been driving by this yellow truck for a few weeks now and I finally decided to stop yesterday and I am so glad I did. The two gentlemen were so polite and helpful and offered me up a sample which sealed the deal. I ended up purchasing the bites and they were perfect for sharing. 12 little square shaped pillows that really do melt in your mouth. My family all loved them! I don't have anything to compare them to but all I know is they taste incredible! We will definitely be back for more of Mr. A's square donuts soon. read more

Legitimately Louisiana beignets. So good! I bought a dozen. Only 6 made it home to my family. They're cooked fresh and thoroughly blanketed in powdered sugar. Totally worth being covered in the sugar for the rest of the day. read more

I've never had a beignet before but was happy to get to try some recently when Mr. A's food truck booked a stop in our apartment complex. I had the trio of beignets, which was enough for 1 person, and a cafe au lait, which I've also never had. Half chicory coffee, half steamed milk. I'm not sure what chicory is supposed to taste like but it taste like regular coffee to me. I still enjoyed it all while sitting on my little poolside patio, imagining I was in New Orleans. read more

What happened?! These used to be delicious, light, and airy. Just bought some today and now, they are heavy and doughy like any other doughnut. Something in their recipe has changed the texture. Too bad- guess I won't be taking that long drive anymore just to get beignets. read more

I wanted to like this place so much but found the beignets to be average at best. Spoiled because I lived in New Orleans I guess. The guys in the truck were great, and if you haven't had real Cafe Du Monde and for a culinary waste-land like Raleigh I guess it would work for most people. Not going back. read more

My wife was all about this food truck. I didn't get what the big deal was. Then the truck was parked outside my kid's school and I decided to try a beignet for myself. After a few bites, I get what the hype is. These things are delicious. Don't let the price scare you off the beignets are very good and you'll find yourself wishing you bought more. If you see a long line just wait. They make a bunch at a time and even a line of 20 or more people can move quickly. read more

We came by as we were visiting from San Francisco where the food scene is pretty epic, and Mr. A's could easily compete with some of the best baked goods in the Bay Area. read more

Here's the thing: life doesn't get much better than eating perfect beignets with a cafe au lait. These are basically flawless beignets served warm and fresh with a generous helping of powdered sugar in a handy yellow box. Get a coffee to cut the sweetness. And enjoy your day. If that's what you're looking for, Mr. A's is the place to go. I will try not to stop every time I'm in Apex but it's going to be difficult. read more

Wow is all I have to say, nothing like piping hot fresh fried little dough treats sprinkled in powdered sugar. After doing some research came across Mr.A's on Yelp and very glad I did. Stopped by this morning and got the classic trio the bites and a chicory coffee, all were made to order fresh and absolutely delicious! Prices were reasonable and the service was great and friendly. Easy to find situated in the heart of Apex, nice little downtown area! If your in the surrounding and need something good to start your morning this is the spot! read more

I've now been to this place twice and absolutely love it! The first time I went I was just driving through downtown Apex and there was a line 10 deep, which was a good sign for me. This morning I actually got to talk to Mr. A and he's a genuinely nice person who loves what he does. He even had his wife and daughter with him working which is pretty cool. The beignets were truthfully wonderful and I will now go out of my way to buy from him. read more

I got a Chicken Tikka pizza (12", 8 pieces) for lunch - big enough for two people or two servings…read morefor one person. The taste was very good and a little spicy, which I really appreciate. The crust was not stellar. It was not thin (I prefer thick) but it was kind of limp, not crisp, so it was virtually impossible to pick up a single slice with my hands. I ended up cutting pieces to make them more manageable or used a fork under an entire slice to help support it while I ate. It didn't stop me from eating all the crust, up to the edges, which is my usual modus operandi. The plasticware was kind of on the shabby side. There were a few (less than a dozen) loose forks and spoons (not wrapped) in a station where you get such stuff. Curiously, there were no knives but I thought I would ask if I needed one. It turns out that I did want a knife, I asked the staff, they rooted around a bit, but couldn't find any at first. I keep a small supply of plasticware, napkins, etc in my car so I got a knife from there. In the meantime, the staff did turn up a couple of individually-wrapped plastic knives. I used mine instead and put the knives with the other plasticware for others to use. I ate half of the pizza at the restaurant and I got a takeaway box for the other half of the pizza for dinner. I thought that it was a cool experience that they offered unlimited pani puri, and that is what our group had. It was fresh and nicely seasoned. We also tried Panugulu, which was fried crispy and out hot. They even had a Carrom board, which was my first time playing.
