We started with the soup and salad and both were fresh and flavorful. Our appetizer was the Crab Puffs and they were crispy, creamy, and perfect with the sweet and sour sauce. We ordered Poseiden's Plate. My husband chose the filet mignon, lobster, and shrimp. I ordered the same but swapped the shrimp for scallops. The puffs, soup, noodles, shrimp, rice, and the filet mignon were our favorites. Our waitress and chef were friendly and talented and made dinner feel fun. They sang the birthday song in Japanese and brought out ice cream with a candle and surprised us with a printed photo. It was such a thoughtful touch. We also shared the Dragon Zodiac Bowl. It tasted like a yummy Shirley Temple with a twist. Very good but definitely on the lighter side if you are expecting something strong. A couple of things to note. We called ahead and were told we did not need a reservation but still waited about fifteen to twenty minutes. If you are going for Teppan Yaki it is better to make a reservation since those tables are separate from the regular dining area. When we were seated we were the only ones at the table. I asked if we could sit in the center and the hostess said maybe after soup and salad. A few minutes later the waitress, not the hostess, brought another group and let everyone know we could spread out and sit wherever we wanted. That made it much more comfortable and we moved to the center. Overall it was a yummy meal and a fun Teppan Yaki experience with really thoughtful birthday touches. read more

We made reservations for 8:00 PM but unfortunately weren't seated until around 8:40. We completely understand that things happen and restaurants can get busy, so we were willing to overlook the wait. However, after being seated, it took nearly another hour for the teppanyaki experience to actually begin. Service throughout the evening was very slow, and they also forgot the white rice for one person in our party. It's disappointing because the food itself was really good! Unfortunately, spending over two hours at dinner, especially with a reservation, felt excessive. We really wanted to have a great experience, but the long waits and slow service took away from the evening. read more

The best show and food at the teppan grill. Went for a birthday and it was beyond all our expectations.

An absolutely amazing experience. We sat at the teppanyaki table and had dinner and a show. I was so thankful kill they squeezed us in last minute the night before Valentine's tine's Day. They were very accommodating to us and the service was excellent. The chef was so funny and fun. They offer complimentary miso soup. We also had the edamame, sushi, and surf and turf for dinner. I saw they also have an awesome happy hour menu! A Tucson fave. We'll be back! read more

We decided to stop here for a quick bite after the Rock and Gem Show. It was less than a mile from our hotel and with our time difference, we were hungry by happy hour! We sat in a cozy bar top bench and a lovely waitress with a big smile helped us right away with hot water for me and ice water for my husband. We started off with a large hot craft of sake and the garlicky spicy edamame. Edamame was cooked to perfection. Some places, the beans are too hard. The taste was different but good and spice level could be higher. Our first roll came and almost as if our waitress was a genie, every time we finished a roll, she appeared with the next one! Always with a big smile and asking how we liked it. Our first one was probably one of the best specialty rolls I had. Our second one was the tootsie roll, it was fresh, simple and delicious as well. The third one was our jalapeño with tuna and cream cheese popper which was so indulgent. Our last roll was the Summerhaven roll. It had four pieces but extra large and topped with a sweet sauce with tiny pieces of mango and cucumber. It was a perfect dessert roll! Everything we ordered was amazing! The place, the staff, the food!!! And our bill was less than $70 for the two of us and we had drinks! You can't beat that at a sushi place. We will be back before we leave! read more

So I stumbled upon Mr. An's, which the hotel front desk girl Abby swore by - I mean, who doesn't trust a hotel insider? I bellied up to the bar just in time for happy hour, which miraculously lasts until 7pm - what sorcery is this? The bartender was a total sweetheart, and I was like, 'gimme all the good stuff!' So I ordered the Agadashi tofu and Baja California roll, and spoiler alert, they were both on point! Overall, I like this place - the vibe, the service, the grub... it's all just totally rad! read more

Stopped by Mr ANS last night to have dinner with a friend that I hadn't seen in quite some time. We both love sushi and agreed that this was the spot. Decided to have our meal in the bar and Nika was the best bartender ever! Full of personality, she really made the evening a pleasure. Her recommendations were on point: the spicy Alaskan salmon, Troy roll, tsunami roll, spicy scallop rolls, and geisha roll were all mouth watering. You cannot be the presentation of the Troy roll which comes out to your table flaming on a bed of salt wrapped in tin foil. After the flames die down she unwraps and unveils the sushi and it's tender, delicious, and just melts in your mouth. The roles are not the run of the mill that you find in typical sushi restaurants they are innovative with very creative blend of flavors. They are a little bit more pricey than average but certainly well worth it. We had drinks: McAllen, vodka soda, Jack and ginger beer which were all on point. The only downside were the gnats flying around the bar. None got in the food or drink so not a huge deal but just a minor annoyance. But will definitely be back to enjoy their delicious sushi rolls. read more

Came here for a birthday celebration and some teppanyaki fun. The place was crowded and ambiance was festive and fun. I've been to teppanyaki places before and this one was lil but small. Cozy though. The food was great. Steaks were cooked just right. Overall a fun time. They serve ice cream and clapped if it's your birthday. read more

The ultimate spot to take your birthday boo- make sure to reserve a seat at a hibachi table for an entertaining night in addition to excellent steak, salmon or chicken options with hand cooked fried rice, chow mein and veggies. Our server was a delight and it's a fun spot for kids and adults alike- they got us with their ketchup bottle prank! A drink at the bar can be a fun but less involved night out here as well. We took boxes home and enjoyed the spoils almost as much (though not as much fun) the next day. And they bring ice cream and a loyalty card to those who brave the clapping to share it's their birthday! read more

Food was fairly good. We went on a Saturday evening and the noise level was incredible. Won't be back.

Great place for special occasions Beautiful interior Food was absolutely delicious Our chef for the evening had the charisma of the gods, really great with the young ones at our table Do not be afraid of the fire They're highly trained professionals Wait staff was quick and impressively strong carrying out a huge tray of our beverages (party of 10) by herself Great time all around just be ready to splash some cash for the full teppan experience read more

FOOD POISONING! MANNY! THIS ONE IS FOR YOU. We've been coming here since it opened. It was one of our favorite places to go. We always brought our out-of-town family and friends, celebrated special occasions and thoroughly enjoyed one of our favorite places. I always get the Emperor's Cut with Lobster. My lobster wad rancid. It tasted like ammonia. I got food poisoning and had a horrible night, all night. I complained, of course. Manny the manager told me he had to speak with the GM to get my refund. No refund. I only wanted the lobster refunded, not the entire meal. WTH?!?! read more

This place is huge, we didn't had much time to wait so we decided to seat in the bar area(no decorations and felt old and cold!) Our waitress came in quickly but we didn't even had a chance to look at the menus. Then after that she took a long time to come back, the area wasn't very busy so...Anyways we decided to get some edamame, the coconut shrimp (very crunchy and delicious) and the "knockout "roll (tasted fresh and very spicy ).For drinks we ordered a Sapporo on draft (that had minimal gas and tasted old) and a white wine that was nothing special. Prices are on the high end. read more

We went on an early Friday evening with no reservations and got a seat at the teppan table but the restaurant quickly filled up. Although expensive, the food was good and I always enjoy the show. I do think our chef was a little lackluster, low energy, and didn't really interact with us much which was disappointing. The sushi rolls were delicious though. I highly recommend getting the Troy roll. It comes out on fire and has a lot of flavor! We also got the Alaskan roll and that was great as well. We've had the play boy roll before but this time it just wasn't there - good but not great. I got the land and sea (steak and shrimp) and both were yummy and the steak was cooked perfectly. I also got scallops in addition on the side and that was disappointing. Although it was cooked perfectly, it seriously needed more flavor, just more butter with a sear would've been amazing. The fried rice was on the drier/crunchy side which I wasn't a huge fan of but the flavor was good - I think he let the rice sit on the teppan plate and the rice start to crisp a little too much but some people love crispy rice! Overall great atmosphere, the staff were nice and happily joking and timely! They even take your picture and print it out and give you a discount for special occasions which is really sweet of them. read more

Absolutely bomb sushi. this is for the Sushi bar only. Hubby and I were on this side of town and had a craving for salmon sashimi. We came here, got some, had a few of their exotic cocktails, sat at the bar almost immediately even though the main restaurant and the teppanyaki side had a massive wait. Immediately the bartender took care of us. Got a few rolls. Everything was AMAZING. No yucky fish smell/or foul tasting sashimi. The rolls do have imitation krab but that doesn't off put me. Wemt back a 2nd time solo, it was another A+ meal. I will have to try the teppanyaki next. Though those meals too are avail. at the bar, yet w/o the show. read more

Have not been here in a very long time. Came to celebrate a birthday and found it very enjoyable. Staff was nice. Slow. But nice. The chef at the table was good. Engaged with everyone, which is what I do look for at a teppan place. The food was cooked well! Ok I was shocked! Ordered shrimp and scallops. Cooked and seasoned beautifully. Fried rice, noodles and veggies. Good cocktails. They do encourage birthdays. They took a birthday picture and gave a coupon for next year. read more

Really disappointed with our experience, mostly because of the manager. He was a little condescending from the start and told us we didn't have enough people for our reserved table but he would let it slide this one time. We also ordered a red blend and were given a different bottle that was $28 more expensive without being told they were out of the original. Instead of owning the mistake, the manager seemed frustrated, they did comp the wine but again reminded us they would only do this one time and that we "approved" the bottle. The service, especially from management, made the night uncomfortable. The food was amazing though and our chef James was great! read more

Had a great time at Mr. An's. The restaurant has been on our list of places to try, and we decided to go ahead and do it. We got there around 4:15 on a Saturday evening and were seated right away with another group at one of the Teppanyaki tables. Service is prompt, and our crab puff appetizer came out very quickly! The server also brought out the soup and salad, and then the chef came out soon after that. The chef we had made the experience very fun, and he had a lot of fun little tricks. The food is absolutely delicious. Not a single thing was bad. We will definitely be back! read more

We sat at a teppanyaki table and the ambience was very good. The only complaint I had was the chairs were not comfortable. The service was impeccable and the wait staff was super attentive to all of our needs. Used dishes magically disappeared. Our teppanyaki chef not only put on a show, he was a very good chef too. We split a Poseidon combo which consisted of lobster tails, shrimp, scallops, and filet mignon. We upgraded to fried rice, and included steamed vegetables, teppan soup, and salad. All was excellent. Mr. An's is a gem. read more

Wow. Being from out the area we really got to try some different sushi's (cooked). Definitely different and unique, and tasty. We ordered the sunset and Troy roll. We also had some crab puffs and shared a drink of monkey bowl. We also did end up trying the Guadalajara sushi roll. It was different and not bad, but not my favorite in comparison to the two mentioned earlier. It will be hard to top the two we had. We were impressed. Prices were good. Service was good. Ambiance was nice on a Wednesday night for us. read more

If you're planning to try this place, make sure you make a reservation! There's just few tables with the teppan grill. And it can be a long wait. I liked the food and experience with the teppan chef. My issue with our experience was the hostess who sat us. She didn't even check if we have enough chairs for our group. Isn't that part of their job? To make sure guests are seated and comfortable. The way they sit us around the table was too tight, my husband was rubbing elbow with the gentleman sitting next to him! Our server was good at least. She's on top of everything. She comes to check on everyone. I think the interior of the restaurant needs a little improvement. It looked outdated. read more

Good sashimi appetizer, sashimi was excellent! Good beef broth soup. Nice waitress, though pretty hard to understand. Alaskan Salmon - excellent. Surf and Turf - excellent, the steak was just rare enough. Could have done without the rice and have double vegetables, they were also excellent. I should have asked! Music was way too loud, some kind of pop mix. Will come back! read more

The service was terrible and we had to wait for 2-3 hours to be sitted for a party of 9 people. The food is okay, but not spectacular. I would not recommend this place unless you don't mind waiting for hours, but there are better sushi restaurant in the city. read more

I hesitate to write a bad review but we just had a $190 dinner where mine was inedible. We had a reservation but had to wait, which is ok, things happen. We finally got seated and the noise in the room was loud. While waiting, I used the restroom, it was dirty and smelly, Not a good start. We waited for our table chef, who finally arrived. Tables coming in after us were served well before we were...but it was my meal that was the last straw. The chicken I couldn't eat, supposed to have sesame seeds but they had to go the kitchen to get them. Well, make up your own mind but the room is old, the decor is tired, the service is not attentive and I'm giving other diners a heads up. Don't spend your hard earned dollars on mediocre everything in an unclean environment. read more

Mia was our server and she was great! Boy was she on top of EVERYTHING! Jeremiah was our chef and he was dope too, when I asked his name to confirm at the end of our meal, he said "why, you going to complain!?) lol I said noooo but really, he was great! However, I'm a little disappointed in the hostess, we had a party of ten and one person was running late so they refused to seat us and I get it BUT what if she couldn't make it, would my reservation have been cancelled? Anywho, we ordered a LOT of food! Appetizers: pot stickers, vegetable spring rolls, crab puffs, spicy edamame, coconut shrimp and egg rolls. Sushi: Sea Urchin/Uni (nigiri), Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, Spicy Yellowtail, Troy Roll, Mt. Lemon, Mt. Fuji, sorry Charlie and the Playboy! I wasn't really impressed with any of the sushi but the Mt. Lemon was good and I never need to have Uni again lol it's u-g-l-y and just didn't taste great!.. I had the steak and shrimp entree, I believe it was called Land& Sea, I asked for medium and it was a bit overdone and honestly it all could've been seasoned better. The dumplings were also rubbery, seemed fresh out the freezer. Maybe it was due to the big party, they had a lot to do! Lastly, shoving ten ppl into a small space is bananas, it was definitely a tight squeeze! That's why Mia was so great, as well as her counterparts because they kept clearing the table as needed and my Sprite was never empty! read more

So not much food for all that money spent over $500 for 10 people and he didn't really interact with the customers that much or tell us much about the sauces of food. And the cook was counting the shrimp and didn't give the people who ordered steak a whole steak kind of cheap if you ask me. And the lobster was a little one $7 lobster and charged so much money for it and all the other dishes. read more

This place was very very loud. Came with some friends and could not carry a conversation. A lot of people come here for various celebrations. We did not do the teppanyaki option and ordered a la cart instead. We shared shishito peppers for appetizer which were all surprisingly spicy. Calamari steaks which were probably the best part of the meal and the coconut shrimp which was no better than previously frozen options that re-heated at home. The rolls were alright but nothing overtly fresh, unique or memorable. The staff was very busy often running back and forth between tables. read more

I called to make a reservation and spoke with the general manager. I asked for just a table for two, multiple times. He had a strong asian accent and kept asking me if I wanted a tempenyaki table. I said no three times And he just ignored me. When we arrived I confirmed the reservation with the hostess. We were then seated with a bunch of strangers at a benihana table with others. They completely ignored my request for a table for 2. I asked to speak with a manager and ha acted as if I was wrong. I just wanted a table for 2. I wasn't interested in the "Dog and pony show". The manager offered a table but said I would have to wait. We were already seated so I didn't want the embarrassment of moving back outside and waiting for our reservation. They're other guests sitting at tables which I asked for, but not for us. I will NEVER recommend Mr Ann's to any of my out of town clients or book a group again. This is a complete disaster. read more

Honest opinion. This place used to be very good but it has gone downhill. My drink was good but the food was not it. Our server honestly seemed annoyed with us immediately off the bat and the entire time up until we were leaving .... Calamari: large chunks that were tough & chewy, & the frying grease is old and you can tell. Green beans: the green beans themselves were good but you can still taste that the grease is old. Chicken lettuce wraps: just had a ton of onion and carrots. PF Chang's lettuce wraps are 10x better. Egg rolls: okay, but again gross grease. Like all you can taste. Coconut shrimp: Fried .... Teriyaki chicken: it took over an hour to come out, unfortunately, & it's not like it was completely packed in there so they must be short staffed? But the chicken itself was tough and dry. It was definitely over cooked. Summer haven roll: this was the only thing I genuinely enjoyed, the sauce on it is very good, idk if I just got unlucky but it was again overdone on the onion like everything else for some reason. And I love onion but it was overpowering.... Most definitely will never return. P.F. Chang's is way better for everything but sushi. read more

For this visit at Mr. An's, we did Teppan. Always fun to go as a group. Service was pretty good, teppan chef was great and lots of fun. But I thought the food was a little on the salty side, where it usually isn't. Also, I think they raised their prices and no longer do a shrimp appetizer (even though their menu says the Vegetarian dinner "Does not come with shrimp appetizer" - I would think that means all other teppan dinners do). I think when we go back, I'd actually prefer to dine on the sushi side. read more

I have eaten here often, but the place has been "off" its normal great food and service for the last two years, sorry to say.

It's a interesting experience, they cook your entrees, side veggies, fried rice and noodles in front of you. The cooker in our table is pretty enthusiastic, and the one in my friend's table is not, my friend gives four stars. I also give four stars. I liked the New York strip, it's cooked well and tasty, the smoke is a little bit too much, ventilation can be improved. Also it's a holiday season, pretty loud, and a lot of people here. In terms of recommendation, if it's a group of people just want the experience the Tiktok kinda chef cooking in front of you, recommended. But if you just want have a good conversation and dinner, maybe try a quieter place. read more
