Salad

Darn near a religious experience! Holy crap this was some seriously roll your eyes back good fast Italian and we got it door dashed (had a deal), which is probably the worst way to get it! You know it's serious pizza because it comes in a box with instructions on how to reheat it. We got Nancy's salad- you could just smell the quality. The freshness. Flavorfull produce, fine meats and cheese and a dressing that like made me cry a little in a good way!! The meat balls- the sauce they come in, woah! This is some incredible food. The meatballs taste homemade with farmers market ingredients. Perfectly sweet yet tangy tomato based sauce- almost salsa like in consistency but Sicilian spiced. The Fennel Sausage pizza was one of those few moments when I didn't even know what to say. From the crust that is almost like a sweet soft cracker, to the fennel and spicy Italian sausage, on a white cheese based sauce. It was like the best thing in months!! And then to finish it off- Cookies!! Like nearly perfect chocolate chip cookies. Melt in your mouth softness inside a crispy, yet not overly brittle, cookie crust. I highly recommend this and will make a point to eat there again if not at the main spot soon!

This is after Nancy's reheating instructions. Still soggy. Such a bummer.

Today is my birthday so I thought I'd treat myself to a pie from Mozza. Knowing the quality and pedigree of the past, I ordered a pepperoni pie with full confidence. It arrived literally cold and uncooked in the middle. The dough was still wet. This caused the cheese to slide off completely with the toppings attached. The sauce was cold. Pretty much ruined my birthday dinner. Quality control should be job number 1 when assembling a $30 12" pizza and cook and temperature are paramount. I can't see a situation in when I'll be spending my money there again. I should have just ordered Prince Street or dare I say, even Dominos. At least it would be thoroughly cooked.

Olive oil and oregano dressing; and yes I shook it. It's disgusting.

Wow. Just wow. How this place has gone downhill! I ordered a $25 Nancy's Chopped last night from Uber eats. I paid for two extra dressings, and when it came there were two on the side. I assumed the dressing that came w my salad was buried (in a cup) inside the salad but it was not. But the worst part was the dressing - which contained NO vinegar! Check out my photo. It's olive oil and oregano. It's gross. Nancy should be ashamed her staff doesn't know to shake the dressing before pouring it out, or maybe someone misread the recipe. But either way, the salad totally sucked because the dressing is really usually the star. Ubereats was great about fixing it but this restaurant can't possibly still be managed by the same staff. Did Nancy sell pizzeria mozza?

I had a great experience using their online ordering system and everything went smoothly so no complaints there. Basically, you just place an order online, then arrive at Mozza 2 go, give them your name, and you get your food. My order took about 40 minutes. Exactly what the ordering system estimated. First off, the pizzas are way better fresh at Pizzeria Mozza. However, if you don't got time for that because you're a busy human being, then taking it to-go will still give you an idea about how good the pizzas are. Just know that it will lack a little something something like a crispy crust or creamy melty cheese. I got their meat lovers pizza (fave, and I strongly recommend), the Hawaiian pizza, meatballs, garlic knots, and pane bianco (grill bread with olive oil). Everything was so so so good. I had to reheat the pizzas in the oven but it was so worth getting life back into the crust.

I've been to the Chi Spacca which is basically the same location that used for the takeout. We got two pizzas, meatballs and some treats. Pizzas were great, the dough is nice and chewy even after 20 mins. They are quite small for $22 in my opinion, unless you are getting multiple side dishes, I say 2 people sharing 1 pizza won't be enough food. The meat ball is $14 for three and two piece of bread which is really yummy and I forgot to take a picture, I also got the Italian lemon soda, it's alright... The chocolate chip cookies are good, 3 for $9 and they used Valrhona chocolate and they made sure you know it's the good stuff by putting that on the label(70% valrhona chocolate). I got the soft nougat that's from France , haven't eat it though, I'll report back later :) Overall it's good! I ordered online and the estimate was 45 mins, I show up on time and waited another 5, pretty convenient. Staff lady was nice and helpful just like their Spacca service there are meter parking right outside and it wasn't busy Sunday noon so that was nice~ Would definitely come back here and try some other stuff next time

Review is for the... ALL'ANTICO VINAIO FIRENZE POP UP Florence, Italy's best known sandwich is here in Los Angeles for just 1 week. Tomorrow, Sunday (10/27) is the last day. Hubby and I got in line at around 9:45ish in the morning on Saturday. Doors open at 11 AM. The line got big fast! Once the doors opened we probably took about 35 to 40 minutes till we got to the cashier to order. For the first 150 or so people online you can get two sandwiches per person after that it was one sandwich per person. The sandwiches are BIG (which is great!). All have meat and there is only 1 sandwich you are able to modify for vegetarian (called the LA Summer). Please see pics for menu. Each sandwich is $16 bucks and they accept cash and credit card. It was a fun experience. Pro Tip: I brought a small camping folding chair that weighs about 5 pounds so I could sit while I wait instead of standing for hours.

Aglio Olio...to go.

I haven't had a chance to eat one of my favorites in a long time (about 3 years) so when I drove by one Friday, I had to stop in for my familiar favorite, the Aglio Olio pizza. Realizing time went by, the price jumped up to $16 from what I used to remember as $11, but this was back in 2016 or so. Still the same size, but still pretty darn good as well. Girls at the counter (not sure who took my call) were both very nice! Considering the price, I will be coming here as a treat, but not as an every week pizza craving.

Nice pizza place. Very testy! Would recommend and will order again! P.s. my dog went crazy of its smell lol

Fennel Sausage

The best pizza crust I've ever had in my life. I got the fennel sausage pizza and wow can you taste the quality and the homemade-ness of the fennel sausage. I could eat that by itself as a snack!!! Every bite that had that sausage was to die for. But any bite without, was lacking flavor and salt. You needed the sausage or else it was a little bland.

Burrata & Fennel Sausage pizza

Ordered for takeout and the food was ready when I arrived. The sauces and texture of the dough on both pizzas were really good. I really enjoyed the sausage and fennel pizza. The fennel added a nice flavor. I would come back to try other pizzas. Also got the butterscotch budino, but I wouldn't recommend bc it was tiny for 10 bucks and a little too salty.

Just picked up a Margarita Pie to take home and was not disappointed (although is it my imagination or have the pies gotten a bit smaller over the years?) Still, the flavor was there and you can't beat that amazing crust. Online ordering was easy from their website. Only complaint is their limited and somewhat weird toppings. Can't I just add mushrooms and pepperoni to my pie? Nope.

It was definitely worth the Netflix hype! My girlfriend was the one who originally discovered the place. Having watched the Netflix show, she wanted to really go to the Mozzaria. But since we were in the vicinity, I heard the best line that my girl could have ever said, "hey, do you wanna get pizza and watch Game of Thrones?" And that's when I knew. Mozza 2 Go was quite small. It's literally just a shop to get pizza to go and you were offered with a selection of wines, oils, and other delicacies that compliments the pizza well. We ordered the squash pizza and garlic knots. I chose to compliment it with J.Lohr Cabernet and my gosh, it was definitely an explosion of expressive feelings. It was... a Sunday. The squash pizza was tasty. It had the great elements of a pizza, crusty, and the sauce was sweet and just a bit bitter that it complimented the taste. The garlic knots had WHOLE garlic. None of those weak garlic sauces oils, but it was actually garlic, soft, and tasty. It was a Sunday that I'll never forget.

What size are the pizzas?

I think they are 12 inches across. A lot to eat for one person, just about right to split with a friend for lunch, esp if you are sharing a salad too.

It was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh and in combination with the lemongrass, made for a delightful bite. The pasta dish was also a favorite of mine but unfortunately, the most disappointing dish by far was the grilled Bronzino. It lacked flavor and the size of the fish was much smaller than I'm accustomed to having. Without question, the restaurant definitely missed the mark on this dish. The restaurant was beautifully designed and the decor looked amazing. My server was attentive and made sure my water glass remained filled throughout my entire meal. However, something I did find a bit strange was when presented with the check the dishes were unreadable but the prices weren't. I was told a new printer was ordered a week ago but had not yet arrived. I found this a bit odd for an establishment of this caliber not to have a working printer.

The bone marrow, mussels and clams, chicken liver, branzino and any pasta are the best although the pizza is great too, the best is to end the meal with a chocolate Bundino. My only criticism as of recently has been the wine staff, the last few times I have mentioned that I personally don't like the taste of natural wine and have asked for recommendations to suit my taste the sommelier actually said " so you like to drink chemicals then " , I didn't let it ruin my evening and the food was still excellent but their really isn't a place for that attitude. I am an avid wine collector and as the customer it's the wine staffs job to make the customer happy by finding a bottle they will like, not push their misinformed opinions on the customers. Management would be served well with some re-education in the art of customer service to the wine team.

No detail is overlooked. Beautiful design -- reminds me of what your Italian grandma's dining room would look like if she had great taste. We took a Lyft since the parking situation is tough (but there is a paid lot down the street) and we were running late.I called and left message that we were running 15 minutes late and they got my voicemail and they were great about. Table was available right away. Cocktails were impressive - and we started with a dirty martini and a Negroni blanco. The garlic bread made with Bub & Grandma's bread is a clear winner. Our server Emerson was top notch and steered us through the menu and drinks and was informative and friendly as very professional. When he'd walk through dining room, he was scanning to see if anyone was trying to catch his eye. And when I did he came right over. None of this look straight ahead stuff I sometimes see when it's a busy night. You can get out of Donna's for a reasonable price if you stick to garlic bread, salad and one of their excellent pasta dishes (5 of the dishes are in the $25-$28 range). We splurged and got the scampi (from France) what a sauce, truffle gnocchi, amazing chicken Marsala with amazing mushroom sauce $32) and the Cesar salad was delicious and not mailed in. We ordered 1 dessert (panna cotta with pistachio brittle and fresh figs) and they brought a tiramisu and tiny glasses of their own limoncello out on the house. We also tried 1 glass of their special vermouth since we are vermouth lovers. A++++ experience all round and it was a high level of ingredients and food -- chef and his team are top notch. I now need to find out who's the chef in that kitchen because they've built an excellent team. Donna's slyly calls itself just a "red sauce Italian restaurant" but I'd say that's a real understatement...and I think it's a great date night or small group place because it's intimate and you can hear your table partners talk. I don't recall any music playing - just the warm brown background noise of fun conversation. We ate early (my preference these days) and if you don't see any openings for reservations, ask Resy to give you an alert -- you'll get notified when reservations open up. Emerson said they always hold some tables for walk ins. PS -- I normally don't leave such long reviews, but I have some friends who are chefs and who own restaurants - and when I see other Yelp reviews where someone leaves a one star because the hostess was allegedly rude when everything else is great -- I just hate to see how it can affect a restaurant. I have no relationship with this restaurant at all. I don't know any anyone who works in it or owns any part of it, but I just don't like to see people abuse the reviews -- the restaurant business is tough as it is. And as someone who has worked downtown and driven through Echo Park for 30 years - I think Donna's is a great addition to Echo Park.

The highlight was definitely the Fusili ala vodka pasta, though we asked for well-cooked rather than al dente and it was still pretty al dente. There is ample street parking in and around the place but it is in a bit of a sketchy area, so be careful. The garlic bread is made of sourdough and it comes with a lot of cheese, which makes it even more sour. The tomato risotto is a 4/10 - it just tasted like cheese and the broccolini is a 6/10 - its pretty unflavorful and uncooked.
