Great location and nice property, rooms were spacious. They have a nice sized gym and plenty of places nearby to eat.

Sadly this was the worst hotel I think I've ever stayed at. When I arrived to check in, I was told my room wasn't ready and had to wait or come back. I waited in the lobby for over an hour for my room to be ready. Once inside my room I noticed there were a few things that were different about this hotel. There wasn't any dressers to place your clothes in once you unpacked. So your clothes would have to stay in your suitcase. There also wasn't any closets or clothing rack to hang your clothes up. Instead there were hooks on the wall with four hangers. I called the front desk for more hangers as I was staying a full week and had work clothes and evening clothes. The front desk brought two additional hangers to my room. The mattress was super thin and hard. I asked the front desk if a mattress topper was available when I was leaving for the office and was told there would be one in my room when I returned. When I made it back to my room that evening there was nothing there. I called the front desk and asked about the topper and was told one would be brought to me. A maid brought me an extra bed sheet. After this I called the front desk again as there must have been a miscommunication and was then told that was all they could do. The elevators had a bad smell of dirty laundry and feet. I ended up checking out of this hotel and moving to another as I was unable to sleep on their hard mattress. read more

I've been to other Moxy locations, and it does take some getting used to. The general vibe is tiny rooms with very limited amenities, a loud bar area upon entry that you can't avoid, and various efforts to be hip and stylish. It can work for the minimalist traveler. I find the fact that I had to check in at a bar where I couldn't even hear myself speak aggravating. The location is walkable to a lot of things downtown. Parking in this area is a bit of a challenge, although you certainly can pay less than what they charge for valet service. My shower wasn't perfectly clean, but my main issue was noise. Being on an alley caused an aggravating echo and it's the kind of neighborhood where cars honk and other stuff goes on. I would consider staying again if I just needed a room and was going to spend most of my time outside, but it's not my favorite place to stay. read more

Went with some friends to the rooftop bar for some drinks and food to celebrate her birthday. The vibes were excellent with the cherry blossom decor on the ceiling, rooftop bar had open air between indoor and outdoor areas which was ideal on such a beautiful day. Newer hotel with good location. Small, clean, functional rooms. This brand is tuned into the party set and will appeal to bachelorette parties, NFL visitors, staycation set, etc. With that said, this particular location of Moxy is not too loud to run off work travelers like me. Amenities include: large comfortable lobby and bar, nice outdoor seating area with Adirondack chairs, rooftop taco & tequila bar. Staff is pretty attentive. Not sure about front desk running bar concept. I get why they do it to save on salaries but it is two pretty different jobs with different responsibilities. Recently stayed here over the weekend based on reviews I've read citing how fun this place is...and its my biggest regret! We traveled to DC for the weekend to celebrate my sisters birthday & wanted to find somewhere that we could enjoy ourselves without having to go outside, due to the extremely cold weather conditions currently happening up North. With the Moxy being known for their fun rooftop, we opted to book 4 rooms here. The place is very cute in the lobby. Love the concept of the check in area being a bar & guest get one free drink voucher to redeem for either wine, beer, or their signature drink. The check in process for my room took quite some time, since they only had one person checking people in. When I say this place is severly UNDERSTAFFED I mean it!!! Valet parking is $60 but I dont recommend it because there was only 1 valet guy and there was a long line wait so we self parked at the lot on the corner for $40. Anywho, this hotel is simply a well dressed hostale. The rooms are tiny, like super tiny. Which means, housekeeping shouldnt have a problem keeping the rooms clean but that wasnt the case for me. I reserved a King bed room which ended up having what looked like pubic hairs sprinkled under the pillows and roaches. We spent most of our time on the roof top since we didnt check in until after 4 so I didnt notice these issues until after we got done partying on the rooftop. Of course there was no housekeeping on staff to clean the room, only one nighttime staffer who had many different issues to resolve, and no more King beds available. I was moved to thee smallest queen bed room Ive ever seen, that also had a dead roach laying on the bathroom floor. I had to share this bed with my sister since her room also had issues. The fauct in her room kept dripping and they advised her they didnt have the piece to fix it. With the rooms being so small, you can hear the dripping noise from the bed & it drove her crazy. The next morning, I spoke with manager Yasmeen to address the issue. She was sweet, apologetic, and came up with a fair solution. However once I got home and realized the mexican restaurant on their rooftop double charged my card, I tried to connect back with Yasmeen to have this issue fixed & she has been ducking me since. Ive called and emailed her with no reply. When I spoke with another manager yesterday, shw acknowledged Yasmeen received my email and promised a call back which has still not happened. I will NEVER stay at this property again. I truly cannot believe this is how they treat customers, especially ones with elite status!!! read more

There are no complaints about the overnight stay at Moxy Washington DC, downtown. The outside is very inviting with colorful seating. When you enter, the lobby is full of games such as connect 4, chess, and checkers. check in happens at the bar. I arrived early but they held my bags while I went to explore DC. Upon my return At 4pm, I was able to check in. They hand out a chip to order a free drink at the bar. The room had bunk beds, a tv ( but only viewable if you sleep in the top bunk ) cute bathroom. Absolutely loved our stay at Moxy DC (downtown)! This was our second stay at this property, and our 5th Moxy stay. As loyal Marriott members, we always appreciate the fun, social vibe of Moxy --and the welcome drink is much appreciated. The room was on the smaller side (as expected), but spotless and super well-maintained. The bar felt a bit pricier than other Moxy locations we've visited, and the pours were on the lighter side, but the energy and atmosphere made up for it. Okay so I'm going to try to write this in a positive way. So we booked the hotel through our convention room block. Unbeknownst to us this room was not a regular room and this was the only hotel in the block that had two beds available for the full week. A few days before we arrive to DC we received an email stating this is not your regular hotel. They noted that it's a boutique hotel, does not have closets and no iron. The iron is communal at the end of each hall and instead of closets they have pegs on the wall. They also noted in the email that the room is small I want to say they have a square footage but can't remember the exact number. Fast forward, I arrive to check in and couldn't find the front desk as the front desk looks like a bar. I learn one side is a bar and the itty bitty space is the front desk. Okay! They offer me champagne and gave me a token for a free beverage later. I get to my room and it's soooooo tiny. It reminded me of a college dorm room with bunk beds. The bathroom was probably the most decent thing in the room. The beds were comfy but for two people to share is impossible. After having issues with the door daily , yes daily, we get switched to another room on day 4. They didn't have two beds available so they gave us a room each with a queen bed. No complaints as it was more comfortable but still small. I think this hotel should be for college kids and nobody else! Others had checked out due to the space which is why they had space for us to have separate rooms. The bar is a vibe and the lobby is popping at night. They have a rooftop on top which is also a good time but sometimes can't get upstairs once they determine it's closing soon can get only get upstairs by them allowing access. Positives rooms were clean, steamer in the room, water was hot, housekeeping came daily, maintenance staff were great and the front desk staff are friendly. The bar tenders were super great too with regard to making good drinks well the black lady was. The other guy was a bit mean and rude. Just not friendly! Overall, the stay wasn't all that bad if your down with small spaces and boutique living. I personally wouldn't stay here again as I rather pay extra for comfort and space! read more

I had a nice stay here! I was in a queen private room and although it was small, it had the basics of what I needed and I was within walking distance of so many great places for sightseeing. I do wish there was a small table to eat some door dash meals, but otherwise it was nice having a gym, library area, and free coffee plus a free drink token. There is also a cute balcony on the same floor as the gym. I went there instead of the rooftop bar, but seems nice, One thing was that it was a tad odd coming downstairs to what would normally a hotel lobby but instead is a bar and people dressed up waiting in line to take the elevator to the rooftop bar. Once you get over that initial shock, the hotel set up is very cute and the rooms were quite soundproof so I didnt hear any music from the rooftop. They also had a fun calendar with different holidays and were giving out things like lollipops for lollipop day. And I got 2 small bottles of water everyday in my room after housecleaning. This cute pet friendly boutique hotel is a gem! Love the check-in process being at the bar. Gives the lobby more of a lounge feeling and less stuffy. Check-in was quick, despite the room type I requested not being available. I was also given a drink token to use at the bar during my stay. The alternate room option I was given turned out not to be the same (no wrap around window and the room seemed to be a little smaller). But I was only in town for one night and this options sufficed for me and my pup. The bed was comfy and the size of the room was great for me (I would not recommend two people unless you REALLY get along). The bathroom is pretty open with the shower being in the center of the room. I headed back downstairs for my drink - I would probably not get the signature premixed drink again (only mixed drink available with the token), but I appreciated being given a drink token regardless. I headed out to explore downtown DC with my pup - this location is in close proximity to so much! It was a quick walk to the Washington Monument. I will definitely be returning to stay at Moxy next time I am in town - I've still got the rooftop bar/restaurant to explore :) read more

I recently stayed at this property as part of a group booking from March 21-23, 2025, and unfortunately, the experience was far from the standard I've come to expect from Marriott. I feel compelled to share our experience in the hopes of improvements being made for future group guests. Check-in Experience & Lack of Welcome Reception: Our group arrived promptly at 4:09 PM on Friday, March 21, with expectations of a warm welcome and a designated point of contact -- both of which had been arranged and confirmed ahead of time. To our surprise, there was no welcome reception, no staff assigned to greet us, and no preparation evident for our arrival. This created immediate confusion and an unorganized atmosphere that set a poor tone for the weekend. We were told Rudy would be on-site to assist, but he was nowhere to be found. Attempts to reach him throughout the weekend via text, especially regarding spoiled breakfast items and a request to cancel breakfast, went completely unanswered. Room Assignment Failures: Room assignments were another major issue. Most concerning was the fact that a 9-year-old child was mistakenly placed in a room alone, which raised significant safety and liability concerns. It took over an hour working with staff member Leo to rectify the situation and properly reassign rooms. To make matters worse, we were told Leo does not work weekends, which left our group with no support for the remainder of our stay. Security & Administrative Oversights: An updated rooming list, which was supposed to be provided for our external security team, was never delivered. As a result, I had to manually compile the list myself -- an unnecessary and time-consuming task that could have easily been avoided with proper follow-through. Wake-Up Calls & Breakfast Service Failures: Our request for wake-up calls for multiple rooms was never fulfilled, which caused further disruption to our already tight schedule. On Saturday morning, I called at 6:30 AM to confirm breakfast and was told it had not been prepared due to a cook calling out -- something we were never informed of ahead of time. Our group had scheduled activities based on the promised 6:30-8:00 AM breakfast window, and this oversight threw everything off. On Sunday, breakfast was available, but the orange juice was spoiled, which was both disappointing and a potential health concern. Billing & Rewards Issues: At checkout, I received no itemized bill and was advised to follow up with the Sales Department -- which I've now attempted to contact multiple times with no response. Additionally, my Marriott Bonvoy number (#977743558) was not attached to the reservation, despite several prior requests. This not only affected my ability to earn points, but also impacted recognition of my loyalty status. Missing Group Benefits: After following up with Marriott Customer Service, I learned that group bookings typically include several benefits. Of the standard offerings, we only received the complimentary hospitality room. The following benefits were not provided: Complimentary room for the coach, organizer, or team lead (I was instead offered an upgraded room, not complimentary) 4x Bonvoy Planner Points based on total group spend 5,000 Bonvoy points upon agreement signing To say that this experience was disappointing would be an understatement. What should have been a smooth, well-organized group stay turned into a stressful and chaotic weekend. The lack of communication, disorganization, and failure to meet basic expectations left a very negative impression on myself and our group. I strongly urge hotel management to review this experience internally and follow up regarding compensation and the missing group benefits. I would appreciate being contacted directly to resolve these concerns. Final Verdict: (1 out of 5 stars) - This experience fell far short of Marriott's usual standards, especially for a group booking. Staying 2 floors below, but roof top bar blasting loud music past midnight that's impossible to sleep. Asked the staff to talk to the bar, they did, but to no effect since it's run by a different entity. Called the police, police said the bar has license (despite the fact that it's in clear violation of ordinance, but police refused to intervene). Apparently it's a known issue. Staff said they had constant complaints even for people staying on low floors. They said it's not unusual to have people coming out of the bar loitering in the lobby to the point that they had to hire a night security at the lobby. The hotel management certainly had not done enough to properly manage the bar operating within hotel premise. There was only two people at the bar in the restaurant so I was happy to have a lovely and quiet meal. Unfortunately that couple was arguing and very loud. So I had to order my food to go and eat it upstairs in my room. That really sucked because all I wanted was one good meal before I left the city. The food was really good, though. I saw when I checked out that the police were there talking to the woman who was with the jerk. I can't in good faith recommend this hotel, especially given the price point. I've stayed here twice now for work conferences - and while the location is convenient, I'd rather stay elsewhere for future trips. The customer service is lacking. Most glaring was the unresolved maintenance issues. The first morning in my room, the ceiling began to leak from the person upstairs showering (yikes). I called the front desk who assured me he "had clearance" to move me to another room. However, when I got back for my conference for the day, the front desk person (different from the morning) said the hotel was fully booked and I couldn't be moved to a new room. She sent maintenance to look at the leak - he said he'd go upstairs to fix it (because that's the source of the leak) but guess what? The next morning, ceiling still dripping. I told the front desk person about this at checkout (a different, third person) and she tried to make it right by offering Bonvoy points but honestly I don't know that any number of points would convince me to stay here again. Other small issues - there was simply a lack of follow through with customer service. I called the front desk for a hair dryer, and additional blanket, and was told "right away" but no one showed. I don't want to have to stay somewhere where I have to call the front desk multiple times to advocate for basic amenities and customer service. I can overlook the cramped quarters and cost saving measures (housekeeping only comes once every other day unless you request daily service), but it's the bad customer service that lost me. :( read more

Cons: we had purchased breakfast and it wasn't available (but got refunded). Room was very cold and drafty because of the cool windows. Water got warm but not hot. I don't want my low rating to deter you from staying there. I would just be very aware of the room size. I know it's a boutique hotel and all but these rooms are TINY!!! Like no drawers for your clothes, probably a foot to step to the right and left of your bed, the door then the bathroom just uncomfortably small . I could barely get past it. Now I will say, at check in the staff tries to warn you and they even have a Lil slogan regarding it saying we only want you to sleep there and you can enjoy everything else in the hotel. The property was unique and offered a fun environment, however it lacked exceptional customer service and the cleanliness that I am accustomed too from the Marriott brand. Upon arrival the outside patio and hotel lobby had games such as scrabble, a shuffle board, jenga, and chess. The bar area also served as the guest checkin. However; the lobby was poorly light like a dark night club in comparison to the Westin around the corner. There was an issue with my credit card when I arrived which caused a delay in checking in. The staff member was patient, polite, and sympathetic throughout the process, which I appreciated because I was frustrated and stressed. Her demeanor allowed me to remain calm until it was resolved and I was able to check in. The lobby staff did not wear uniforms which some was off brand. I did ask for directions and the staff member could not find the hotel on the city map nor could she recommend any local destinations for dining and experiences in the area. MOXY MANAGEMENT: Please provide canned responses to the staff for those guests who may ask in the future! The hotel room had less square footage than we are used to but since I was traveling with my teen daughter, it was a non issue. We liked our bunk bed hotel room. The bed was comfortable and we had enough pillows. MOXY MANAGEMENT: Our room was filthy and needed a deep cleaning. There were finger nails on the side of the bed, stains on the walls, and an extreme amount of dust, dirt, and grime that had accumulated in the corners of the room. The room price was cheaper than other hotel brands in the area, so I guess I got what I paid for. read more

I recently stayed here for a weekend while visiting DC. We really enjoyed our stay here. It is about a 20 minute walk from Union Station, and upon entering we loved the vibes. We checked in at the bar, and the gentleman even upgraded our room. With your check in, you get 2 free drinks from the lobby bar. There is also a library/lounge area on the second floor that has free coffee. There is also a small gym which has a balcony. The lobby has some games and couches so it is a cool place to hangout. As others mentioned, the rooms are a bit small. But we expected this, and it was perfect for us. We had all the room we needed. The room was very clean and comfy. The only complaint is that we were at the end of the hallway right next to the housekeeping closet, so we could hear them opening and closing the door through the morning. The hotel is about 15 mins walk from all the museums and attractions and there are plenty of food options nearby. We would definitely recommend staying here and would consider staying at a Moxy hotel in the future. read more

I enjoy staying at Moxy's, not just because they seem younger and hipper (making me feel younger and hipper), but it seems like a friendly atmosphere. There lobby floor had a bar and a bunch of games (cornhole) and board games. The check-in staff also work the bar and are super helpful. On the second floor they have a library area which people use to do work, and they have a conference room type room that people can use. On the second floor they had a Kuerig for coffee. Their wifi signal seemed pretty strong and reliable for Zoom meetings. The hotel is a in a good location in Downtown/NW D.C. and there's a lot of connections to Metro, transit or stuff in walking distance. On the weekend the lobby/bar area is very lively. My room was on the 13th floor, the room is alittle smaller than other hotels but it was enough to make my wife, I and our two dogs. The only downside was our room was just below the rooftop bar area. We hadn't gone up and that rooftop bar area seemed popular and popping, so on Saturday night the music was bumping until 2am. My wife and I were tired from sightseeing but we eventually fell asleep no problem. read more

They have a pick-up snack bar that is better than the standard for a hotel and a nice bar too. I didn't go to the rooftop bar but there was a lot of traffic for this on the evening shift as they came and went on the same elevators as the staff. Only one staff was a bit apathetic, i spilled my flavored water in front of check in and they said they would clean it up: a few hours later they had not and there were footprints from it all over the lobby. The front desk and bar are one. There are plenty of hip decor and artwork all around the place, some of which are a nod to its DC location. The rooms are small but space-efficient and minimalist. Moxy is a pretty cool brand, and I always enjoy staying at their hotels. I stayed at Moxy Washington, DC Downtown for 5 nights. My first room had double-sized bunk beds, which was kind of cool and was a great way to maximize the limited space. However, my room was next to the speakers outside, which kept blasting music all night, so I moved to a quieter room for the remaining nights of my stay. My second room was an upgrade to a corner view room, and it had a nice view as well as plenty of natural light. My stay was before Lucha Rosa, the rooftop bar, had opened, so my only option in the hotel was Bar Moxy. The menu is small, and it is not fancy, but the cocktails and food are very affordable. The 1st floor is the lobby and bar, which is a good social space. The loft is a quiet space. There is a conference room, which the staff let me use all day, and plenty of space, including a reading nook, to hang out or get work done. If you need any caffeine, there is a well-stocked Keurig station on the loft. The hotel is in downtown, so there are plenty of attractions within walking distance. This Moxy is a place where you can socialize or get a lot of work done both day and night. I had an enjoyable stay, so I would stay here again if I am in DC, especially since there is a rooftop bar. read more

Stayed at the Moxy for a Constitution hall concert Trevor Noah. Concert was awesome. Smart and funny comedy is the best comedy. The good of the Moxy - totally trendy The bad of the Moxy - the bed was not like their Marriott branded hotel beds. Very young vibe... but as a boomer I didn't feel like I wasn't welcome. Rooms were clean and it had a very NY loft feel with brick walls and industrial window walls surrounding the bathroom. Perfectly fine for a work trip when staying in a room by yourself, but possibly too small if two people were in the room as there was very little defined spaces between bedroom and bathroom. Check in staff was friendly as was the bartender. Games in the lobby with a lot of young people hanging out, playing chess, Jenga , connect 4. There was also a foosball table and a shuffle board. Rooms are very minimalist with very little furniture, and no closet or dresser, just pegs for hanging clothes on the same wall as the TV. read more

We came after we went to lucha rosa (their rooftop bar) just for a quick drink. This place has THE BEST spicy marg I have ever had in my life. 10/10 would recommend. Cool open area with garage style door that opens to a little patio out front. Lots of games/activities to do while you drink. Order at bar and seat yourself. Overall good vibes read more

Me and my husband stayed here for one night and it was great. We got early check in around 1pm and check in isn't until 3pm! They gave us 2 free drink tokens that you can use for wine, beer, or their signature Moxy drink. We chose to get the Moxy drinks and they were sooooo GOOD! We were on the 12th floor. The room was small but had everything we needed for one night. Had a king sized bed with a view of the city and the bathroom was gorgeous! It came with a couple bottles of water and some chocolate which was a nice welcome! The room however does not have a microwave keep that in mind. It didn't bother us. It is 2 floors below the rooftop bar so it was kinda loud around 8pm. We're in our 20s so we didn't care but if prefer a quieter atmosphere I do not suggest to be on such a high floor. The hotel is super nice. Has a seafood restaurant located off the lobby, a bar with great drinks, nice decor that give a warm trendy vibe, games to play in the lobby, and it was a great place to be. Conveniently located walking distance from so many bars and restaurants. We'll be back! read more

The Moxy Hotel really knows what they're doing. From arrival to departure the folks here treat you like royalty. First of all, they gave us an early check-in when we asked for one. When we arrived they provided us with two free drinks from the bar and a chance to spin their prize wheel which gave us a $10 food voucher to use at the hotel. This was such a nice way to start our stay. The actual room was gorgeous. It's a micro hotel so we anticipated the room would be small but it was designed so well that the bathroom did feel separate from the room. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was really nice, and despite being near the elevator it never got too loud. While waiting for our drinks we played various games in the lobby. There's tons of seating and it's a beautiful space. Even though you're in DC which has tons to do, you want to spend some time in the lobby relaxing with your drink or playing a game, or both. I will definitely be back to stay here. The service was unparalleled, the prices were affordable, and the location was central and felt safe and comfortable. read more
