If you're in Memphis for business, DO NOT stay here. It had one of the worst in-room workspaces ever. I sat in a chair that rocks that's like a foot off the ground working on a small folding table that was hanging from the wall. With that being said, it's a neat boutique hotel. They have a public "ironing room" where you can iron with friends, or pick up some toiletries for your room. There's a bar in the lobby as well as arcade games and lots of seating. They're going for a fun, community vibe... it was just missing people I guess. The pillows were garbage and that's so common at hotels these days. I stay in a lot of hotels and waking up with a sore neck isn't the best. It either means crappy pillows or a fun night! In this case, it was the pillows. There are a number of places nearby and I had some killer chicken wings at the Coop something or other and great coffee as well. The area in which this hotel located isn't the best, but there was a police presence as I walked around myself on a Sunday night. The staff was friendly, I felt safe inside, and it was easy for rideshare to pickup and drop-off. Just due to the workspace issues alone, I probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

I would have that the moxy by Marriott was a safe bet in Memphis... nope! It was horrible from the second I pulled in. Even though they share a huge parking lot with 4 different hotels, all they offer is valet. So I pulled up at 1145pm and the only one to greet me was a security officer. I asked where the valet was and he had no idea The door to the front desk was locked so I had to wait for the valet, 15 minutes So he let me in and I had to wait another 10 minutes for the front desk attendant. The usually cool and vibey hotel was dirty and the maintenance was awful The room was not taken car of, paint was peeling and almost all of the soap and shampoo was empty. read more

In a safe, convenient, well-lit court of hotels. I lucked out and got good onsite parking, but there are a couple of nearby parking garages as well. I've stayed at several moxy hotels and this one is on brand. Hip, open, fun common spaces. The bar area here is a little crowded and merged with the check-in desk, but that's ok. Functions just fine. The check in staff (I think he said he name was Mac, but I could have made that up--it was late) was fantastic. Fun, energetic, dressed in sparkles. Perfect welcome I needed after a long drive. Room is standard style, and based on being functional, but I reserved a corner room, so more space. As with all Marriott hotels, streaming offered on site. My room was on the courtyard side, so quiet at night. Blackout curtains aren't great, but I travel with a sleep mask anyway. Recommended spot. Just a mile or two from all the attractions and near restaurants. read more

Came here for an overnight stay while in Memphis. The hotel was clean and had lots of personality in the decor. However, the hotel does not have a restaurant so you can only get food from the grab and go fridge. Also, the bar closes at 11pm which seems really early especially for a Saturday. While I was content, this is not a hotel that I would willingly choose again. I'd prefer somewhere with larger rooms and more amenities. read more

This is a tough review to write as I have some five star feelings and some 1 star feelings. I am starting with the positive. - GREAT location - Super cool and funky vibe in common areas and rooms - CLEAN, I saw employees tirelessly cleaning and wiping down common areas Sleep quality was good, pillows amazing - MOST staff friendly, welcoming and helpful! - complimentary coffee downstairs in the AM Here are my not so positive feelings: - Room small, although space maximized 313 base fee is high. - Booked two rooms, they added 25 x 2 nights on each room for parking when we had no vehicle? I informed upon checkin there were no vehicles and it seemed slippery they would do this on BOTH rooms for an extra 100 bucks (they did pull it off, thankfully I was paying attention) - One of the staff, tall young lady with long brown hair who worked the bar... always seemed annoyed that guests wanted drinks or information and she was Sort of polite, but rude at the same time on a couple occasions. Our last night there she literally sent another employee over to do our drinks after blowing us off and walking away ... it was super weird. - free drink coupon(s) are good for the three moxy happy hour cocktails which are prefabricated so not much alcohol. We ordered the Moxy Mule the first afternoon and the same employee referenced above told us we could NOT use the coupon on that drink, but she would give us a 2 dollar discount. THEN the next day the main guy at the front desk area got our drinks and said that drink WAS included. It felt as though she was trying to pull something shady with us. - wasted peeps outside at their tables late at night who were likely not guests... they do keep doors locked to guests only though. I would probably stay here again, if the room price were a bit lower and I never had to see that one employee again. read more

First-time MOXY stay, and the hubs and I enjoyed it! Love the aesthetic, eclectic style, and photo-worthy features throughout the hotel. The staff was super attentive and helpful (Fred and Matt in particular were excellent-- the stars of the show). Check in was seamless, the room was clean, and the drinks at the bar were nice also. I did get charged for 4 nights of parking and taxes at checkout that I never used (used rideshare only), but Matt saved the day and resolved that issue when I called back as well. My only wish was that there was a pool. Memphis is lacking in the great pool vibe department, and I do believe MOXY could do it extremely well! Great 4-night stay overall, cheers! read more

Terica, Morgan, and Matt ensured I had fun, and I was well taken care of. They even gave me bug spray for those Memphis Mosquitoes that just wouldn't leave me alone. My favorite employee was Bill the engineer. He helped me fix my AC unit in record time. My room was cool and relaxing, because of Bills quick support. Hip, fun venue with great rooms. Our king sized bed room was cool for our 2 night stay. A lot of abstract, eclectic decor. You'll check in at full service bar, get complimentary cocktails, great views of downtown Memphis, and the trolley car. A lot of good photo ops - from grass in the elevator to banjos in most rooms. It's a firm 3.7. The location is awesome right along the Main St Trolley line. When I arrived there, the city was on a "boil water notice" However, no one said anything to me when I checked in. My sister lives in Memphis proper and informed me not to drink the water or use it for brushing my teeth. So, I ask the front desk. They tell me, "The water is fine." My friends, the water WAS NOT FINE and was not fine for the first 2 nights that I was there. I was told at the convention I attended that the hotel should be providing bottled water. When I returned, I asked for water and why I was not given bottled water at check in. I was told it was only given "on request." The problem with this line of thinking is that I am from out of town. How in the world would i know this information?! Mind you, every restaurant that I went to the first 2 days was not even serving ice, but let me tell you, the Moxy was serving mixed drinks with ice. Rooms have an industrial vibe. There is a folding desk that hangs on the wall, and there are no drawers but just hooks on the walls. As previously mentioned in other posts, they do play music late into the night in common areas, and the sound does drift into some of the rooms. Much of the staff just seems to be tolerating the guests. I found the housekeeping staff friendly. Room was clean. If you need to iron, you have to go to a common area (like a cruise ship). This is probably not the best stay for a business traveler who needs a desk and unwrinkled clothing. I would recommend the Moxy for a getaway weekend with some friends. I had a few Zoom meetings and also needed to get some work done, and the folding desk just didn't get it done. read more

I have been watching them renovate this building for a while now and it is finally open. It is so cute and trendy definitely a great break from the norm and perfect place for a weekend staycation. Moxy is not your traditional hotel, but a very nice departure from the standard. This is the 2nd Moxy I've stayed at and I love that the themes and decors are based on the town in which they are located. Love the free pinball machines in the lobby and the Elvis throw pillow as a cute nod to Memphis' favorite son. The staff and cleaning crew are super friendly. The only complaint I have is the food options, while limited are SUPER expensive for a hotel ... such as a Chobani Yogurt Flip was $14 ... compared to the $1.50 I pay at home. If you're hungry for snacks, there's a Walgreens across the street headed towards Beale. read more

I just want to start out with the fact that there is not a single thing wrong with the front desk staff-- they were bubbly, kind, hard-working and ultimately...overwhelmed. This front desk job isn't an *average* front desk job. They're front desk employees, bartenders, and receptionists, and they were the mediators of every hotel issue (and there were many). Truthfully, they're underpaid, and Moxy Memphis needs to change that. First, the general vibe of the hotel is super cute. It's quirky, filled with card games, board games, plants, and ambient lights that fill the space with a soft glow. As a GenZ girl, this is a dream space-- and I needed a break from the same ultra modern plain spaces that I'm always in. Where the issue is, though, is the fact that the cuteness of the space does not make up for how run-down the hotel is. None of the pinball machines worked. There was a hole in our window that allowed for multiple wasps to enter the room and we had to switch rooms. And the valet service is problematic. Let's get into valet-- If you have a car, you are better off going a few blocks away and self-parking. I would not trust the valet with any personal possession. First, the valet is a third-party entity not affiliated with Moxy at all (which to me seems ridiculous because we pay Moxy for valet, not PMC directly-- it's misleading, honestly). It's called PMC (or Parking Management Company) and it appears that they are posted up in all three Marriot hotels in the square. Most of the time when I needed to come get my car, they were not around and they had to call them to get to the Moxy. So realistically speaking if something happened to your car, no one would be available to see it-- which is what happened to our car. I came back from dinner, dropped my car off with valet, and when I retrieved it in the morning there were massive cracks on the windshield. Red Flag #1 was when the AM valet driver (his name is Myles, doesn't deserve to be wrapped up in this mess he was fantastic) apologized and told us our car was not where it was supposed to be listed under. Now the car is cracked up and we don't know how it happened and no one reported it. So-- either the car was taken off premises and then it got cracked or our driver was driving crazy and it got cracked because you don't get huge cracks in the windshield at random. Regardless, management doesn't know who had the car and what happened, they had us file a claim and we'll see if they get back to us. Also there were a bunch of charges to my card from the hotel. My receipt has a balance of $0 because they credited my stay, but we'll see if that goes through too. Honestly, save your breath, money, vehicle, and time. Go to a different hotel. Moxy staff, I pray you find a job that pays you what you're worth. You deserve better. read more

We stay at the Moxy every time we come back to Memphis. The location is absolutely perfect, all downtown attractions are a short walk away or ride the trolley right outside the front door. It's a great environment, huge value for the price, but the staff is really the shining star of this hotel! One 'crew member' in particular - Matt, has remembered us every time we return and that's literally once or twice a year for three or four years! He knows our name before we even say it and any reasonable request becomes reality. I'm a Marriott Titanium member and I'm telling you this hotel service rivals the finest locations in the Bonvoy portfolio. read more

Do not stay here! Marriott used to be an excellent place to stay, but this is not a good look for them. The hotel staff was nice, but the building needs a lot of work. We booked a "suite" and the room had enough space to walk around the bed and to bathroom. No closet, no iron, no blow dryer or coffee maker. We were required by the hotel to use valet parking. Got up the next morning and texted them for the car. Got downstairs to find a group waiting out front for their vehicles. Apparently Marriott uses one person to provide valet service for all three of their buildings on that street. Now who thought that was a good idea? When we asked for our key to get the car ourselves, they said all the keys were locked up and they didn't have access to them! Again, who thought that was a good idea? Finally got the valet from another property to come unlock the cabinet of keys and we got our own car. Some people had been waiting over an hour. We got our car and left. 2 hours later we get a text that our valet was ready. Thank goodness for coffee! Onward to the eclipse! read more

I would suggest that no one at this hotel. It has the worse customer service. I scheduled a stay at this hotel for 11/8/24 to 11/11/24. I received a confirmation for these dates. I scheduled it through Marriott Bonvoy. The hotel sold my room for two days and sent me a confirmation stating that I booked the room only for one night 11/10/24 to 11/11/24. It charged my credit card $927.00. I called the Marriott Bonvoy, in which I never had a problem with Marriott before, they told me thats something that was done by the hotel. The Moxy Hotel continued to say that I only booked one night despite the confirmation and letter that I was booked for 3 nights. They charged my credit card and refused to take it off. I ask them why would I pay $927.00 for one night. I told them to cancel my booking. They said the manager would get back with me and that was two days ago. They have a big church convention in town and charged me $300 per night for 3 nights for a hotel that only has 2.5 stars. Everytime I call and talk with someone, they are rude and others dont know what is going on. I will be reporting this to the better business bureau because not only are they price gouging, but they are double booking rooms, and are being deceptive. I had two rooms with two confirmations and I canceled both rooms and they are both still on my credit card. My credit card company is investigating. Although I canceled 4 days ago, they said I still had to pay for one night because I did not cancel 5 days ago. They do not have a 24 hour cancelation policy. I want everyone to know, the Moxy is doing deceptive practices and if you could stay somewhere else I would. read more

Cool place to stay located within walking distance to Beale Street. It is pet friendly, which was one of the main reasons we stayed on our recent road trip. Check in is at the bar in the lobby which was unique. They gave us 2 complimentary drink coupons when we checked in, which was nice. The rooms are small, but had everything we needed for our one night stay. The pillows were a bit soft and the hotel had some loud guests, but earplugs are available. read more

we were greeted by friendly and helpful people. The room we had had two double beds. The room was a motel design with a small bathroom; there is a shower and toilet inside and a sink outside. The bathroom has a pocket door. The bathroom is right next to a bed separated by the sink. The room was clean and functional. there were no closets nor drawers but there were hooks for hanging clothes or towels. The location of the hotel was safe and close to the trolley which you can ride for $1. We didn't Use the trolley. We chose to walk since we We're lucky enough to have nice days. read more

Nice playful attitude but...the rooms are very small. The 'cool' innovations, like hanging your clothes on a wall instead of in a closet, and not having a real table/chair in the room, and extremely compact size, and being limited to news or NETFLIX aren't so cool. I found the hotel's sole computer printer non-working for my 2-day stay although I brought it to their attention within an hour after arriving b/c I had documents to print. The property was "cute", but it is in a terrible part of town. We watched people pee at the trolley station, do drugs, we were asked for money by bums every time we walked out the door. They charged me for Valet, although I had no car there. Which was reversed.. but, then... They also charged me for the room, although I had already paid through Expedia. It took 2 weeks to get my money back and the General Manager was VERY RUDE and hung up on me when I asked who was going to pay for all the fees that they caused on my account by charging me incorrectly. Well, I had possibly the worst experience I've ever had with an establishment ever while at the Moxy. And when I say worst experience, I truly have never been treated this poorly in my life. It was my wedding night, and my wife and I booked this hotel one week in advance, two days for $430. After confirming our trip, we read the email for instructions for check in. No where does it say that check in stops at 11. In fact, online says the Moxy is a 24 hour hotel. Part of their whole marketing "thing" is that they love late night eye and they're always open. So, we make our way there at 3am to check in. We checked into another hotel earlier in the week at 4am, it is not unheard of to check in late. Especially when there's no note saying we can't and online saying it's open 24 hours. And especially when they pride themselves on being a 24 hour hotel. When we arrive, there is no one there. It looks closed. We find this odd so I call and no one answers. So, apparently this is not a 24 hour hotel. I press a button because I can see two people laying down on the couch inside, asleep. I assumed they were guests. But they eventually and begrudgingly got up. They told us that check in closed at 11, and we asked if we could still check into our $430 hotel room that we had paid for. Again, she begrudgingly said yes and then went to check us in. She hardly says a word, obviously she is mad that we woke her up from napping on the job. When it's time for the hotel incident payment, we notice that the card reader was not activated. It kept saying "welcome." She says the card is declined, which is not correct due to us having money. We swipe again but she says the same. Finally she presses a button and the screen of the card reader changed to say swipe now. Even then she said it declined. At this point she tells us since the card machine is not working she cannot check us in. We ask if we can pay it tomorrow since the room is already paid for. She rudely says "I can't just give you a free room." Which makes no sense since we had already paid the full price of the stay. At this point we are frustrated and I ask how can we make this work because we need to stay. It's our gd wedding night... What does this employee do? She calls the police. Sure, that's fine with us. They never show of course. But she sure did use some really horrible words to describe us to the police. I won't write those here, but she knows what she said. She insulted me and my wife in ways that were meant to hurt us personally. She said my wife's dress was cheap and ugly, she said that I was "maybe a man" and called me Mexican even though I am not. I don't know what this woman's problem was, but I'm guessing she was mad that I woke her up from her nap on the job and something in her own life was wrong. The lady at the hotel next door was so incredibly nice, and I thank her for saving our wedding night. Whoever the employee was at the Moxy needs to take a really good look at her life and understand why she acted the way that she did. Again, I have never even seen someone act the way that she did in public. When we called the next day, I asked if there was a manager on duty. The front desk lady rudely asked, "why do you need to talk to a manager?" Because I need to? I was put on hold and never reached anyone. Called back four times and the phone was never picked up. This hotel clearly has some management issues and I highly suggest everyone stays away from this weird hotel. read more

This was the coolest hotel. The interior design was so creative, super fun and cool. The prices were extremely reasonable and all the workers were so friendly and nice. We loved our rooms and loved how they add additional towels and tooth brushes, blankets, and other products available in the hotel hallway in a specific section. Key was accessible with the app, which was awesome. Location was great, right in front of the trolley cars and 12 mins walking to Beale. Super central... great location. We really enjoyed our stay! Stayed here for two nights as part of the Tennessee On Me deal while passing through town this week. Our room was small but just what we needed! We think the shower window was built backwards, because the top portion of the shower contained a window into the hotel room which you could not see out of from the shower, but you could see into from the bedroom! We booked for a 5 night stay. My husband is a platinum Marriot member. We could have stayed anywhere but we chose here for a change in atmosphere. Upon check in the people were very friendly and the atmosphere was cute. We were given "poker"chips for our free drinks to use when we want. My husband got 2 extra being a platinum member. We were told beer on tap or a cocktail of our choice. More on this later. We check in and found the safe was locked by the previous people and had been ripped from the wall. Maintenance came and suggested a new room. We were moved next door. That room had no safe. My husband requested another change and we were put into a handicapable room. Bathroom was bigger...that was nice. He also got two more drink chips for our troubles. The rooms have no closets or drawers. Just hooks on the wall. We knew this when booking so not surprised. Only 4 hangars but that's not a big deal. Rooms need some attention but on first appearance seemed ok. Floors are gross. Our socks were dirty immediately. We asked for every other day housekeeping and as we were leaving our room, we were asked if we wanted new towels and asked if we wanted to put them in our room ourselves. We asked her to do it assuming we would get our room cleaned. Not so. We got new towels and the garbage emptied. No actual housekeeping. Back to the drink chips. When I decided to use mine, I was told beer on tap or a vodka tonic. She was less than pleasant. When I said I'm not a vodka drinker she said I could choose any bottled drink from the grab and go. I grabbed a sparkling water. Keep in mind the free cocktail is advertised and fun fruity drink. How many people want a vodka tonic? The next day I grab two sparkling waters and hand over two chips. I'm told regular bottled water by one lady and told I could take the sparkling water by the guy. I'm still not clear on what was right or wrong. They have limited food but there is enough options close by. It's located along the Main Street trolley which was great. The park directly across draws several homeless people but they weren't really a problem. If you are coming for a night or two and don't care about a lot of amenities this is the place. It's not a place to stay for any length of time. read more

This is straight up disgusting, they advertise it as some fantastic food. If I would've known it was Kraft Mac n cheese I would've just not wasted $15. We stay here about once a year and have always been pleased with the customer service; however, on this trip, the valet service went over and above in taking of us. We had a 200-mile drive in a bad spring thunderstorm and arrived late last night, thinking all was well. This morning when we went to pick up the car they found that one of the tires was completely flat. They changed the tire for us so that we could get someplace to get it fixed, and made sure I knew how to be safe driving on the donut. The eexecution of this different hotel are not followed through!!! It's a hostel feeling vibe, but small splits of Champagnes and wine are sky high for purchase! if it wasn't for the young lady with the blue hair that was working the checkin and the bar simultaneously we would have enjoyed this hotel! First of all she shouldn't have been doing both jobs! It was a situation out of control already and she just exacerbated it further with her interactions with every single person there! Her use of vulgarity towards the guests was stunningly shocking to say the very least!!! I want to be clear we enjoyed the room and aesthetics of the hotel, but that one shocking situation we encountered our last night was overwhelming as it was for every single person there!!! From other reviews it seems this same young lady has had similar interactions with other guests at different times!!! The location is great! the hotel has a quirky, fun vibe. The lobby had lots of records to peruse and several games available to play. All employees I encountered were friendly and helpful. The fitness room had a nice selection of options, but it was small, and they did not provide towels. there is no daily housekeeping, but there are "closets" on each floor where supplies are kept. this is actually a neat idea, but if you're going to do this, they need to be adequately stocked. I never found a hand towel during my stay. the room itself is somewhat small, and the furniture is cute, but not comfortable. I didn't really like having NO drawers and only 8 pegs with 5 hangers to keep clothes. the decor was cute, but the shower leaked terribly. the bath mat was drenched, and the water leaked into the room. There was an "ironing room" on our floor, but sometimes the products to use were there and sometimes they weren't. All in all, it was a great place for a short stay, and it served our purpose for a long weekend pleasure trip, but I don't know if I'd stay here again. read more

Just about one of the coolest hotels I have stayed in for a long time! Makes you feel like you are in L.A.! The staff is on point with everything! Walk in and you feel like a rock star. Cool lobby, great bar and drinks. The rooms are really cool too and of course clean. Oh, and they have Astro turf lining the walls of the elevators! Perfect for selfies!
