This was my 1st visit to Moxies in Plano. I was there with a few girlfriends for brunch on a Saturday late morning. The French toast looked divine which one of my girlfriends had and my other girlfriend had steak and eggs. I opted for the aged white cheddar omelet which was served with roasted potatoes and some fresh fruit. The presentation was perfect and all 3 dishes melted in our mouths. I was hesitant walking in here from my past experience at the Uptown location which was pathetic. I was meeting my wife and sister-in-law here since they wanted to come here I had no choice. I want to like this place being that I am a hardcore Dallas Stars fan and I want to support Gaglardi but I think he maybe better at owning hockey clubs than owning restaurants. Well, I was proven wrong at this location. It turned out great. My experience at the Uptown location was so bad I was on the defensive the moment I walked in here. My wife and sister-in-law had already been there awhile and I walked in late and found them at a pretty cool booth in large room that was packed. Obviously, it the place to be at this point since it is still fairly new. A lot of co-worker tables and larger families meeting here. I was immediately greeted by our server and was asked if I wanted anything right away or if I wanted a few minutes to take a look at the menu. I feel like it is very important the way she worded that. You could be a regular who already knows exactly what you want to order or you could be a first timer and need a few moments to look at the menu. She was very nice, beautiful and upbeat the whole time. I had the Ahi Tuna Salad with a Balcones Baby Blue. I found something that was right up my alley and it was legit. It was slightly salty but that's just my distaste of salt. The Balcones was good being that I had a rough work day. The ladies ordered dessert after our meals and I retired with a Monte Cristo. Whoa. Hold up. I never had one of these before. So she explained it to me when I asked her what it was and she was so pretty I'm like I will drink bong water right now if you say its good. It came out and was bangin. I think now this is my new post-meal drink instead of a hard cognac or trying to sneak in one last whiskey. You must try the Monte Cristo.. from what I remember its Coffee, Grand Marnier, caramel and the rim is coated with thick sugar. It sounds simple but I think I'm leaving out ingredients. I dont even like sugar but I was turning the cup each time so I could get some on each sip. Long story short. They have some vegetarian items on the menu, and gladly omitted the cheese from the bruschetta to make it vegan. Gave this place 4 more chances to redeem themselves and no dice. The nights I have been, not a lot of people in the bar and all the bartenders were too busy talking to each other and sometimes I feel snobby. So much so last time, they never came back around to ask if I wanted another drink before happy hour so I left. I go out a lot and others have said the same thing. I was on a mission to try something new and this place didn't disappoint for a first time experience. I came here on a Saturday night around 8 pm and sat at the bar. The bar was full but not standing room only. The main dining area was pretty empty. The bar service was fast and attentive which I really appreciate. The bar area has a decent number of TVs to keep you informed on the latest sports but it doesn't have a sports bar vibe. The bar area reminds me of a place where people might go to grab a drink and a casual bite to eat without the craziness of some of the Legacy Dr. options. I ordered the Scottish Salmon which was good and not dry/overcooked. My husband ordered the Loaded Burger. Everything tasted good but there's nothing remarkable about the meal. It was just good, solid traditional food that most places can get right. My major drawback was the $2.00 upcharge for whiskey on the rocks. If the upcharge is listed on the menu, I must have overlooked it. I have never seen such a charge before and I have ordered my fair share of drinks. I believe it was Millie and maybe Angelica I'm really bad with names but she was wearing a red shirt and long black hair and very tall and explained everything in detail to us. They were out of ginger beer but since the moscow mule is already batched I could have that but I couldn't have the bourbon one. Drink prices are a little high especially with the shots. But we will always remember that place because one of our coworkers accidentally walked into the women's room and into a stall while on a phone call and found out that he was going to be a brand new daddy. They were slammed so I understand why they were out of ginger beer but my only complaint was I was sober when I went to the restroom and I did not look up and I could not for the life of me figure out which side with men or women. If I was drunk I would've just picked a random side. But I actually stood there sober and contemplated trying to figure it out because nobody looks up.. just may be a solitary M or W nonchalant at Eye level. Dissapointed!! That sums up my experience. I'm happy we stopped by here because the food quality is really good but the service is horrible so I feel like it degraded the overall experience. We decided this was a place to try since the menu items seemed delicious. As we entered the restaurant we were greeted but we weren't sure if they worked there or were waiting to be seated themselves, kind of that momentary pause where you normally smile and greet the person and welcome them in but instead, our first contact was a stare and then pause and then they greeted us as they finally realized that we were in fact going to eat there and not just lost on our way to the parking lot from the adjoined hotel. We were given the choice of the bar or dining area and chose the dining area but now regret that choice as you are pretty much forgotten during your dining experience and left wondering if your waitress really wants to get you your drink order or stand in the group of other waitresses talking about the latest gossip. We finally ordered our drinks and got the Fresh Smashed Guacamole which was brought to the table and then ceremoniously smashed in front of us. It kind of fun to watch and adds the freshness to the appetizer and had really good flavors. For our main course we decided on the Tenderloin Filet with red wine Demi glazed ,seasonal vegetables, and baked potato stuffed with mashed potatoes cream cheese green onion & bacon and the Chicken Madeira Rigatoni. The steak was wonderful, juicy and cooked perfect and the Chicken Madeira was just as amazing, creamy mushroom and wine sauce smothering the rigatoni, juicy morsels of chicken and sauteed mushrooms. So delicious. I also had the baked potato stuffed with the mashed potatoes mixed with cream cheese and chives. I definitely recommend this as your side choice, presentation alone will make your mouth water. Once our main dishes were delivered that's where everything just went down hill. Getting a drink refill was only accomplished by getting up from my table, tracking down the only server apparently capable of fulfilling my simple request because the other 5 waitresses were too busy twirling their hair and avoiding eye contact with me in the chance I might ask them to do something. Finally finding my server I was stared at like I just asked her to give me the quotational square root of the subterranean living quarters minus the shoe storage of the LA Swim Team. She recovered and said sorry then delivered our refills but I made the second mistake of trying to add on a side Cesar salad, 32 mins later I was presented with a small soup bowl of perfectly crisp romaine lettuce leaves, whole grain croutons and thin slices of cheese all drizzled in the Cesar salad dressing. Like I mentioned before, the food quality is spot on and worth the trip but the service for some reason makes you want to pull you hair out because it's frustrating that only one person can do anything for your table instead of having designated people to run food and drinks to the tables which would speed up the whole process, make it more efficient and tie together the whole experience because the customer would feel cared for. Oh and we weren't the only ones that were frustrated, a couple was seated while we were eating and it took so long for them to even get their drinks that they just left without ordering. I recommend this place for the food, maybe sit in the bar area and hopefully get better service. read more

I am a Moxie's fan! Having visited the one in Toronto I tried the Dallas location. Now that Plano has one I took my family. Although it was lunchtime on the weekend, it was empty. Perhaps because of its relationship to the hotel, people didn't think to stop in. I assume evenings are busier. The food was great! Though the menu seems all over the place (ranging from American, to Japanese, to Indian, to Asian-fusion .. just to name a few) each dish is thoughtfully prepared and executed beautifully. The decorum is very modern and posh. The lighting next the tables was my only complaint; it was too bright and hindered your vision of others sitting across from you and made for terrible pictures. We went on Mother's day. The restaurant is beautiful. The food is good. The service is lousy. I get it, it was Mother's day, the busiest dining day of the year. But our food took more than 1.5 hours to arrive - and our waitress pretty much ignored us the entire time. I finally flagged down a manager, only to be told that we weren't the only ones who were having to wait (not exactly the message I wanted to hear). The front of the house at the restaurant needs to serious work - and the back of the house, although they make great food, needs to learn how to work quickly under pressure. I chalk it up to the restaurant being new and not ready for prime time. I'll be back - but they only get one more chance. Fix it. read more

Moxie's offered a great experience, all around. The decor is beautiful throughout the entire restaurant. The atmosphere was full of great music thanks to the dj that was spinning the perfect tunes all day. The waiter was an excellent server. And the food... THE BEST PART! Everything was phenomenal from the delicious appetizers, to mouth watering the main course, and don't forget the dessert! The dessert was so good, I forgot how full my stomach was. Went for happy hour on Thursday. We sat at a table and the bartender first took our drink order and everything was fine. But then he never came back to check on us. We finally flagged down a waitress and she said that she was now taking care of us. However the service wasn't much improved. We had to flag her down because she never checked on us. We ordered the guacamole and it was fantastic! Probably the best I've ever eaten. When we asked for more chips though they gave us some very stale ones that were like cardboard. We explained the problem and our waitress replaced them and they were still very stale. With the bad service and the bad chips we probably won't be back.
