I was referred to this business by my realtor. I was struck by the friendliness of the person on the phone and the promptness of his follow up emails. The only thing I would point out that he assigned us only 2 men when we actually needed 3. Here's where the movers-- Elder and Luis really shined. They showed up right on time, worked efficiently and yet with care and respect. It was really enough work for 3, and it took them 9 hours to finish the job. Despite the long day, they never waivered in the amount of care and attention they showed to our belongings, to us, and to our dog. You can see from the photos that they successfully moved our giant plant. Luis even offered astute design advice in our new place. :) Elder is a ball of positivity and I would not hesitate to recommend this team.

Just awful. So much of our furniture was damaged (cracked, gauged, scratched or plain destroyed). They also damaged our wood floors and the lead guy took pictures and reassured me that his boss would contact me about repairing it and so "don't worry about filing a claim". He did not. I emailed. Still silence 2 weeks later. Some examples of their incompetence: (1) Our pool table was professionally disassembled the day before Moving Forward showed up. I repeatedly told them to place several blankets under where the 3 pieces of the slate would be placed in the trailer. They placed exactly ZERO blankets under the three slate pieces. TWO of the slate pieces were damaged. (2) They placed our wardrobe boxes on the bottom below several heavy boxes full of books etc. Who does that? (3) Most of our furniture were wrapped in the middle but not on the corners where it's most likely to sustain damaged. The damage they sustained. Some of our wood furniture wasn't even wrapped and thus were heavily scratched. But our upholstered couch had several layers of plastic wrap. Go figure. (4) One desk and one cabinet were destroyed. (5) I told them repeatedly exactly what needs to go into the trailers and which were optional (only if there's room). So they loaded portions of things that need to go and things that were optional. Then they declared the trailers were full and they were done. I was unhappy that we'd have furniture and a home gym that's partially loaded so it's useless and worthless in two states. All of a sudden, they said they can finish loading the partially loaded gym. So they loaded heavy metal pieces atop our teak table without ANY protection. None. They had decided they wanted to go home and they weren't going to make sure our belongings would be safe. Then the billing. We requested 5 movers. On their website, it states $190/hour for 3 men and $220/hour for 4 men (so $30/hour for the 4th man). I confirmed on the phone that the 5th mover would be $30/hour as well. They charged me $50 for the 5th mover. Truly shady. And you know why they unnecessarily used so much plastic wrap (yet only wrap the middle of our furniture, leaving the tops/bottoms and corners to be damaged because they'd have to reach or bend down to actually protect the entire piece of furniture)? Because they charge an amount they don't disclose upfront for each roll of plastic wrap. Oh, and the owner claims he sent me a contract. IF he did, I never got it. I asked if he received either a reply confirmation or a sign contract back from me. No, of course not. Guess what? Then it's not a contract. It's a made up excuse to charge customers whatever they want because they CLAIM they sent a contract they never sent. If you're moving, stay away from this awful and unprofessional business. I'd take my chances and hire someone else. Moving is stressful enough without their shenanigans.

They even got that massage table in!

Moved my voluminous stuff 2 hours out of SF to my storage facility. The 2 guys and their truck were right on time, courteous, both spoke English adequately, and they didn't run the clock. They worked hard and well. At the storage facility, I presented them with the challenge of fitting all that stuff into a partly-occupied space that needed some rearrangement. They were up to the task and we filled it out. The cost was basically what I was told it would be. The only reason I have not given 5 stars was on account of the minor issue my movers had with taking a few empty boxes and bubble wrap to discard, along with some sellable items like a good lightweight bookcase that just didn't fit. They wanted $60 to chuck the lot, and as they were going back to SF I told them to just bring it back to where it came from, as my sons were there to received it. I was paying them to drive back to SF anyway. It was a really unnecessary hassle at the end but a very minor one and if I could give 4.5 I would have. Try Moving Forward. They do their job well, and earned their stars and their tips as well!

Booking: I sent an inquiry directly with the company due to their stellar reviews, and they were able to schedule me in for my preferred time/day. The overall process was really convenient, especially because of their flexible time window. Moving: the two movers, Herman and Aleksei, were incredibly efficient and very sweet/patient throughout the move. I appreciate that they handled both my expensive & economical items delicately. Also, I wasn't completely prepared on my end with the move such as knowing details like where to park for loading/unloading or even which items to move vs discard, which I had been dreading for weeks. However, thanks to their expertise and versatility, the move was stress-free. And a huge shoutout to Herman for his guidance and coordination that really ensured a seamless experience. Overall, this company lives up to its 5-star rating, and I highly recommend Herman & Aleksei if they are available!

Paid a little over 2.5k to move a 630 sq ft 1b/1b 3 miles and had 3, and eventually 4 movers. Overall I'd say it was good, not great When I scheduled I explained I had two walkins with lots of clothes - they assigned me three people when I likely needed more as I had a walkup. We ended up totally missing the window for the move which is more my fault but I had asked the people who confirmed if they felt it was reasonable. They helped move the hanging items (which I expect) and had me pitch in to pack the glass despite having asked for them to send someone to do this. It's not an issue but I do think there was a general lack of communication bw the movers and the ppl who helped book that made the day less efficient than it could have been. I'm happy to pack those things as it gave me an outlet for my moving anxiety and saves me time ofc but even without packing glass it still took 9 hours When I realized we were pretty behind it was very easy to get someone else last minute at noon, so that was helpful and everyone coordinated quickly to make it happen. All the guys were also very respectful and carefully wrapped my furniture (table, 4 chairs, coffee and side table, large tv, bed and heavy lifting frame, chair desk and small wine fridge). I think I have a lot crammed in to a 1B and was overall a good experience, though not quite as smooth or efficient as my previous SF moves Pros: Crew is friendly Didn't break anything, including my fancy stemware Cleaned up after themselves removing wrap and paper Very efficient by helping me add an extra mover at a reasonable cost ($50hr) Cons: Timing ended up being totally off :( not their fault completely but I tried to communicate several times during booking I had a small elevator window and a lot of stuff Pretty pricey for a 1 bed 3 mile move

My wife already left a review but they deserve as many accolades as possible…read more We hired OBM because they quoted us the lowest price, but they were also the best and I highly doubt other movers would've gone above & beyond the way they did. We had a challenging move from downtown S.F. to Berkeley, to a house that is in the middle of multiple construction projects. Yet they made everything feel easy. I had gotten food poisoning the day before and we were stressing because we hadn't yet finished packing. But it was no problem--they loaded the truck with the items that were ready to go while we packed the rest. Make sure to ask for Joseph and his team (Fernando and Victor). They arrived a little early so they'd be ready and were the utmost professional while also being a warm and friendly team of guys. We would have them over dinner any time. Because of Joseph I'm now convinced that moving is both an art and an athletic feat. We had a recliner (100lbs) and a treadmill (200lbs) that were too wide to go through a doorway--and yet he maneuvered them effortlessly through without a scratch on either.

DO NOT USE ROYAL MOVING & STORAGE…read more My experience involved deceptive billing, $1,348.35 being taken and later refunded after I fought the charges, a $204.85 tip intentionally added without my knowledge or approval, manipulative tactics by management, damaged property, and a missing item. I was quoted $627 to pack and move my business property into Royal's storage. The crew was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. but arrived around 10:30. I did not receive the invoice until the move was complete and my property was already at Royal's Oakland facility. The bill was $2,048.50 before tip and included: * 5.5 billed hours, although Royal's records show 10:31 a.m.-2:58 p.m.--4 hours and 27 minutes of actual work. * $480 for complimentary moving pads. * $100 for bubble wrap the return driver confirmed was never used. * $90 for wardrobe boxes advertised as complimentary. * $100 for an item supposedly over 300 pounds, although the return driver confirmed none existed. * A $204.85 tip I never approved, authorized, or knew about. I had already given the crew a $60 cash tip based on the $627 quote. When I saw the inflated bill, I specifically told the driver not to charge my card because management and I were disputing it. A manager later confirmed that management had also told him not to process the payment. He processed $2,253.35 anyway and intentionally added a $204.85 tip for himself without my knowledge or approval. I did not discover it until I received the invoice the next day. This was not an accidental selection or billing error. He was told not to charge the card, charged it anyway, and deliberately took another $204.85. That is theft. Royal tried to claim its payment screen automatically defaulted to a tip. The driver's own screenshots contradict that explanation: they show "Tip Amount 0," "No tip," and "Add No Tip." The tip had to be selected and added. I spent five or six days dealing with multiple managers to recover my money. Rather than immediately correcting the bill, management used manipulative tactics and selectively quoted portions of Royal's website and estimate while ignoring language contradicting their claims. Management first claimed moving pads and blankets were different. Then they claimed the $480 was charged because the pads would remain in storage and would be refunded when returned. Royal eventually admitted this supposed charge was not disclosed anywhere. The return driver confirmed that pads and blankets are the same and Royal does not charge storage customers for them in any capacity. He also confirmed no bubble wrap was used and no item exceeded 300 pounds. Royal eventually corrected the legitimate bill to $905 and refunded $1,348.35. This was not a discount, compensation, or goodwill. It was my own money being returned after invalid charges were removed. Royal did not discount the corrected bill by one penny. Management admitted the intentionally added tip was unacceptable and should never have happened, but later confirmed the employee was still employed. Royal cannot credibly say intentionally taking a customer's money is unacceptable while retaining the person who did it. Once management knew exactly what happened and chose to keep him, this became a reflection of the company--not merely one dishonest employee. It told me everything I needed to know about Royal's character and business ethics. The problems continued. During the billing dispute, I told a manager I was worried about my stored property because this employee and his coworkers still had access to everything my business owned. She guaranteed my belongings would be fine. When Royal returned them, a massage table and water dispenser were damaged and a TV wall mount was missing. My documented replacement costs were $316.13. Royal did not respond to my claim for about a week, then twice claimed it had not received emails that showed as delivered. I finally had to resubmit everything through a text link. Royal offered only $200 as a "gesture of goodwill." Partially paying for property damaged or lost while in its possession is not goodwill. It is another refusal to take full responsibility. Mistakes happen. What defines a business is how management responds. Royal defended invalid charges, gave explanations contradicted by its own records, made me fight nearly a week to recover $1,348.35, retained an employee who intentionally stole more than $200 from me, and refused to fully cover documented damaged and missing property. In my experience, Royal Moving & Storage cannot be trusted with your property, credit card, or money. I strongly warn others not to use this company.
