Added to that were my two young sons (one of whom is special needs) and three cats. I arranged the move weeks ahead of time with HGM and was happy with the service and availability. However, it was the week before the move, when I called them in tears, asking for help packing, that HGM really stepped up as the top-notch movers and packers. They worked around my ever-revolving schedule of sick kids, previous tenants that stayed a bit too long in my new home, cleaning people, and then moving my chaos in zero degree weather and snow. During the two-day ordeal, as I was almost frozen from overwhelm, the Homegrown Moving drivers and movers were friendly, caring, and efficient, chatting and reassuring me the whole time. They made the process as easy as any move can be and knowing my furniture, electronics, and myriad toys were safely handled and packed. Thank you Homegrown Moving. You guys are amazing and I will recommend you to any and everyone.

Our family silver, which had been in the family for over 100 years, did not make it to our new home. Our favorite art piece, a small sculpture of museum quality, had the same fate. How interesting that two valuable items that were easy to steal disappeared. They came in 20% over their estimate and offered us a truly insulting settlement of less than 5% of the value of our losses. Seriously, do not hire them if you care about your valuables and your piece of mind.

Moving day came and the team handled my stress and worries so well, being careful with packing my valuables and clothes, meeting me at my cross town destination putting everything away carefully, and shaking my hand at the end, making me feel relief that the whole process was done FAST and FAR cheaper than other services quoted me. They showed up 5 hours late, yelled at me that I gave them a bad quote and refused to do my move which ended up costing me THOUSANDS. And spoiler, another company did the job in the time I was originally quoted by these people and for half the price. As a woman moving alone, these movers made me incredibly uncomfortable in the short time they were in my home. I called and got a quote over the phone. This was not unusual to me as I've only ever gotten phone quotes for moving and have never had issues in the past. I was quoted 2.5-3 hours with 3 movers. I called 5 other companies in the area and received similar quotes, I chose this company due to their availability. I scheduled my move for 4 days before I needed to be out of my place. They were scheduled to arrive between 12-3pm. At 3pm, I was told their morning job was taking much longer than anticipated but they should arrive within the hour. At 4pm I received a text from the team letting me know they were an HOUR AND A HALF away and would be stopping for food on their way. I contacted the "manager" and was assured they would be able to complete my move that day. The team showed up at 5:30pm, 5.5 hours late and I have never had movers be more disrespectful and demeaning toward me. My home was clean, fully boxed, and ready to be loaded. For $210/hour I was not about to waste time. They walked through my home to assess everything and Tyler, who is supposedly the best they have, was rude and disrespectful every step of the way. He yelled at me that there was no way they could do the move in the time quoted. Given that their morning job took 4-5 hours longer than anticipated, whoever is quoting jobs clearly doesn't know what they're doing. I was alone and the way their team treated me in my home made me incredibly uncomfortable, they yelled at me that I wasted their time, they drove to Fort Collins from Denver and their cars were in a storage unit in Denver that closed at 9pm. Even if they completed the job in the minimum quoted time, they still wouldn't have made it back to Denver in time to collect their vehicles so I don't see how that was my problem but he sure made it my problem. Tyler told me the move would take a team of 4 movers at least 7 hours to complete. To be clear, this was a two bedroom townhome, not a 5 bedroom house. As I was about to throw them out of my home for being so demeaning and disrespectful, they offered to step out and call their manager. At 6pm I received a call from the manager who told me the team claimed there were 150 boxes in my home and they would not be doing the move. When I argued that was absolutely not the case (i counted and there were 56 boxes, 6 large, 15 medium, 25 small, and 10 plastic tubs) I was told he didn't know who to believe...um excuse me?!? He offered to reschedule for another day at more than DOUBLE my initial quote. After the experience his "best guy" had to offer, there was no way I would ever agree to pay them even my original quote let alone $1800?! I told him this was unacceptable and explained the financial impact, all I got was "sorry, we wish you the best of luck with your move" after wasting 6 hours of my time and costing me thousands. This was a huge waste of my time and costly. I deliberately scheduled the move on my day off with several days after to do final small things and clean before handing over keys. A new tenant was scheduled to move in shortly after. Because of this company's laziness and incompetence, I had to pay an additional month rent and the next tenant's move was also impacted. I am truly beside myself at what a horrible experience this was. Now for the kicker - I hired another company to do my move the following week. I hired two movers and anticipated an 8 hour move due to what I was told by this team. I was genuinely afraid to do the walkthrough given what happened with moving brothers. I explained what happened and the new quote I was given and the new movers laughed. They said this team took too long at their job in the morning, ate and sat in the truck for an hour, and when they showed up they were tired or lazy and simply didn't want to do the job. They said the 7 hour quote was an FU to me since they drove up to Fort Collins. It took the new movers FOUR HOURS TOTAL. And cost me less than moving brothers original quote including a 40% tip. NEVER give this company your business. They will leave you up a creek without a paddle without so much as an apology. I'm grateful they requested cash payment and didn't require a deposit as they will never get a penny from me. I will tell anyone and everyone I know to avoid this company!

And they made it such an easy experience. In particular: James and Alan. I noticed shady characters roaming around the moving truck. They helped keep unwanted people in downtown from stealing my belongings in the truck. That's going the extra mile in my book. A minor possession broke during the move but something breaking is expected during a move. Would recommend for your move - pleasure doing business with Moving Helper Denver

This incident has been documented and reported. EDIT 2: I found out they do business as "Fantastic Movers" as well. I am not happy with the service I received. I hired Moving Helper for a local move and was quoted approximately 8 hours. The final time was more than 11 hours, significantly increasing the cost. During the move: * Multiple fragile items were broken (including several glasses). * Boxes were stacked five high, resulting in a clearly labeled fragile box falling from the top. * Mattress covers were not used. * In 11 hours they didn't finish moving everything from my house (including a TV). * The crew took frequent breaks and asked me to move items myself. * Professional conduct was lacking (loud music and excessive cursing inside the home). When I contacted the owner Jim to address these issues, the response was defensive. I was told the damages were due to how I packed items. He also stated that a refund would have been offered if I were not already receiving a "discounted rate," although the rate charged was the rate quoted upfront. Moving is already stressful, and the lack of care and professionalism -- both during the move and afterward -- made the experience more difficult than it needed to be. I would encourage others to carefully consider their options before booking.
