TLDR; AVOID GRASSROOTS MOVING LLC AT ALL COSTS. They canceled my move at 10:30pm the night before, for a move scheduled two months in advance, via an unacknowledged text. I was moving out of a 3rd floor walk-up with an 8-months-pregnant wife. The owner was rude, dismissive, and made no real effort to fix it. This was not just the worst moving experience I've ever had, it was one of the worst customer experiences period. Use Mile High Movers instead. They saved the day. --- Full Review: Dealing with GrassRoots Moving LLC was hands down the worst experience I've ever had with any company, not just moving companies. We scheduled a move nearly 2 months in advance. I was providing my own U-Haul, all we needed was labor to help load and unload. The move was from a third-floor walk-up in Denver to a new home in Colorado Springs, and my wife is 8 months pregnant, so I was trying to plan ahead and reduce stress. I woke up at 6:00am the morning of our move to a text sent at 10:30pm the night before, after I had gone to bed, (screenshot attached) informing me that they had to cancel. No phone call. No backup plan. No attempt to fix it. Just, "whoops, sorry". Their excuse made no sense, something about a truck breaking down (which I didn't need anyway), and that they needed their team to, I guess, stand by the truck for the mechanic. Why would the whole team need to babysit a broken truck instead of helping customers? And if you could still send people to help load, why couldn't they, or someone else, help me unload? And more importantly, why should any of that be my problem? You're a business owner, solve the problem, or at least make an effort to. I immediately called Geoff, the owner, several times after sending the texts in the screenshot. I had no time to waste. When he finally picked up, he was (incredibly) annoyed that I called him early in the morning, despite the fact that he texted me the cancellation at 10:30pm the night before. When I asked him to reach out to other movers in his network to help cover the unload, he asked, and I quote, "What network?" Excuse me? You run a moving company and don't have a single industry contact you can call for backup? He offered no solution, just left us stranded. Only after a frustrating phone call did he finally try to do anything. And even then, he tried to pretend like he was always planning to help, despite his text clearly saying I would need to find someone to unload. Fortunately, the company he ultimately connected me with after I had to teach him how to interact with customers -- Mile High Movers -- saved the day. They stepped in with two hours' notice, honored my previously quoted rate, and were total professionals. Use them instead. I've since spoken to other moving professionals in the area who've worked with Geoff before, and I've been told this kind of behavior isn't new. Apparently (according to what I was told), he has a pattern of dumping jobs on other movers. Bottom line: Do NOT trust this company. They are unreliable, unprofessional, and should not be in any customer facing business. UPDATE: Read Geoff's response to this review to understand his vibe. He just called me on the phone to cuss me out also. UPDATE 2: In a prior version of this post I speculated (and explicitly labeled it speculation) that the cancellation was in bad faith and possibly to take a higher-paying job. I see from their instagram that they did indeed have a truck break down that night, so I take that speculation back. It was incorrect. Worst moving experience with this company! They showed up hours late. When I asked why- they said it was for fueling the truck... then one mover strolls in with his Starbucks cup. They were extremely rude. I asked for my TV to be loaded safely which they of course did not do, and also lost some of the screws for. They threw my white mattress topper in the truck without wrapping it up to protect it. All of my large furniture items were scratched up. The only things not damaged were the boxes I packed myself. They also damaged a baseboard and several door frames during the move. Geoff the owner was extremely rude and accusatory. Save yourself a nightmare and DO NOT USE Grassroots Moving! read more

I rarely give a 5-Star review but these guys are awesome! I try to support local businesses whenever I can. Squirrel and his 2 coworkers (I feel bad that I didn't get everyone's name) were friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful of my things. Above all, the value! For a move from Aurora to Northglenn, I did my due diligence got several estimates. Most of them quoted me between 700-1200 for 3 hours. And when I called to ask questions, I learned that there would be additional hidden fees not included in those estimate. Grassroots quoted me at $450. I ended up paying about a hundred more because we went over my allotted time frame (Denver traffic, am I right?!) Thank you, guys! read more

The first two times I moved and use them they were OK. But the last time I was extremely disappointed. The three guys took triple what I thought the move will take. There was so much damage done that we are still finding the damage months later. And the owner will not address it. Their movers convinced me their drop off plan was better but it was so bad I had to hire organizers to remove all in garage redo according to my original instructions Nothing insulting or threatening in my attached texts to them (as claimed below) but lots of insults and suggestions of me lying from the owner. Plus of the 3 crews of 9 movers I've used from them in the past 18 months NONE of their movers are covid vaccinated and had to keep reminding them to wear masks. GrassRoots did a decent job doing a local move for us. Everything got here, but it wasn't a five-star experience. They worked to fix the mess ups, but I've had much better moves in the past. That being said, I appreciate their commitment to making things right. We had a pretty simple move - just furniture for three miles. We moved all our boxes ourselves, so we only needed our furniture moved and reassembled. The movers showed up right on time and were polite, but they were not nearly as well-versed with furniture as other movers we've used. They didn't come with the right tools to take our furniture apart, so they did it with brute force. It wasn't pretty, but it came apart. When unloading at our new place, it got here, but the reassembly was as bad as it gets. One of our beds was literally almost balancing upright, and I can't see how any moving company could think that was the right way to leave it. The other beds are OK, but not bad enough to cause a stink about. I called GrassRoots the next day, and they immediately offered to send their preferred handyman out to fix it. He came out early the next morning, tightened everything up, and our bed was back to normal. So while it wasn't right the first time, they made it right. I appreciate that. Billing was fair, and they don't round up to the next hour (think it's the nearest 15 minutes), which was a pleasant surprise. I paid cash to save some money on the hourly rate, and I'd suggest that you do the same. GrassRoots could improve their service by doing the little things better: - Bring booties to wear inside or cover the floors, not just the entrance. We had just gotten our carpets cleaned, and our movers trekked the outdoors all over our freshly cleaned carpets. We paid $300 to have our carpets cleaned, and immediately had boots all over them. - Bring a wide variety of tools for furniture. - Allow the customers to check the quality of the furniture assembly before the movers leave. - Wrap furniture in blankets, not just plastic. There was a lot of banging around, and one of our beds ended up with a deep gash on the frame. This should easily be avoided, but we were just too exhausted to fight for this one. That being said, it got done. The price felt fair. They (mostly) fixed the things that went wrong, and they showed up on time. I wouldn't give GrassRoots a glowing recommendation, but it was ultimately a pretty ok experience. read more

I move about every 2-3 years and have used Grassroots numerous times because they are extremely professional, honest (nothing is ever "missing/stolen"), efficient, careful with my possessions, courteous, and listen well to my instructions, UNLIKE many well advertised larger movers. I trust them to provide quality service at a good value and they do, every time I move. Grassroots tries very hard to accommodate my moving schedule. One Grassroots policy which sets them apart from other movers is their hourly fee begins when they arrive at my home and begin work and ends when they have finished my move at my new home location. There are NO Trip Charges to or from the business' location, which can save over an hour or more in hourly costs. I just used Grassroots services to move some large items within my home to better locations within my home and to drop off some larger items to two different local locations. The quality and care they provided for this smaller move was the same professional level they provide with larger, whole household moves to a new home location. I will be making a whole house move from my current home to a new home soon and will definitely use Grassroots services again without hesitation! read more

I used them 5 years ago and gave them 5 stars. The guys that worked on that move were considerate of the time and moved me fast. I decided to use them again last month and the crew this time did not deliver the same courtesy. I lived on the ground floor of my bldg. It has elevators to the garage. They decided to go through the garage and use the elevators in my bldg instead of the ground floor door. This meant unnecessary waiting for the elevators which added an extra 2 hours onto my bill. Also when using the elevators, they left my furniture and boxes in the elevators unattended. They took my cushions which were supposed to be protected on my couch under the plastic bag off and set them on the dirty garage floor because they had to stand my couch on its end in the elevator. I only discovered all my stuff sitting unattended in the garage after going down there wondering why they were taking so long. My advice is to never let them use elevators if they don't have to because they will milk that option to charge you more. read more

So I will start by saying that this is my first ever experience with a moving company. I needed to move over Memorial Day weekend. From a storage unit and then to my new 2nd floor apartment. I opted to hire 3 guys so they could get it done within the 2 hour minimum that you are required to pay. They got it done fast and efficient! I stood back and watched as they loaded my storage unit into the truck in 20 minutes! Then on to the new apartment and the unload took approximately 40 minutes; mostly due to the stairs.
