Corley McBeth is hands down the best PT I have ever seen. I have seen seven different PT's over the years for a bit of a recurring/chronic knee and hip pain. I am a Strength Coach, Yoga Teacher, Massage Therapist and CSCS myself, so it was nice to find someone who appreciates quality movement as much as myself and is able to communicate it a way that it's easy to internalize and incorporate into my already athletic life. She won't let you get away with any lazy movement either! ;) For the first time ever I am able to manage and essentially resolve an issue that I thought I was going to have to live with for the rest of my life, thanks to her knowledge and expertise. I see Robin Angus at Movement Systems Physical Therapy for my Herniated Disk. The office is inviting and event fun to go to. It feels like a beacon of health. I love the receptionists, I love the book on snowflakes in the lobby, I love the snax (pistachios and/or m&ms), I love the atmosphere. You can even come in your work clothes and they will give you shorts to change into--CONVENIENT. I think that Robin is the best disk specialist in town. After being in a walking boot for 6 or 7 weeks, and a brace for months before that, I had all but given up on my ankle ever functioning normally again. With the threat of surgery looming closer by the day, I finally listened to some sound advice and, as a last-ditch effort to save myself from the knife, went to see Jill at Movement Systems Physical Therapy. It was the best decision I ever made. Despite my orthopedic surgeon telling me that physical therapy would never help my issues (should have been a big red flag, right?), I decided I could never consent to invasive surgery without at least giving it a try. After my very first appointment, the difference in my ability to walk and move without pain was profound. Jill was great about breaking everything down for me, too. Instead of throwing me a piece of paper with some exercises on it, she took the time to explain how my ankle is supposed to work, why I was having the issues I was having, and what we were going to do about it. Let me tell you, that girl knows her stuff. I had been to two different doctors before coming to Jill, and both said the same thing - get surgery or live with the pain. And here was Jill not only telling me that I didn't need surgery, but PROVING it with her techniques and exercises. Also, as someone whose body doesn't necessarily reflect my high activity level, Jill took me seriously when I said I wanted to continue being active and enjoying the sports I love. I didn't get the placating nods half-hiding the disbelief that anyone in size 16 jeans was "active" like I got from the other doctors I'd seen. As an athlete herself, Jill understands. She gets it. And she works hard to get things working the way they should, so I don't have to stop doing what I love. It feels good to know someone is really in my corner, and not just humoring me long enough to get me out the door. To top it off? Everyone there is friendly, warm, and welcoming, like they genuinely enjoy what they do. The front desk staff are always polite and helpful, with a smile on their faces, and the whole space is open and comfortable, which I love. Jill is competent and professional, but also just a cool person to spend an hour with while she works her magic. I simply can't imagine going anywhere else after going to Movement Systems. Unthinkable! So yes, I wholeheartedly recommend Jill and the rest of the team at Movement Systems Physical Therapy, especially if you're convinced nothing but surgery will help you. I created an account on Yelp just so I could write a review. Specifically, a review of Erik Bies! After living in NYC for quite some time, I moved to Seattle last year. The first person I emailed was Erik after doing some research on the internet for fellow endurance athlete PT's. After sustaining a low back injury from multiple marathons (I thought it was a good idea to run 3 marathons a year), I contacted him in a panic. I received a terrible "one size fits all" treatment from a PT in NYC who suggested I consult with a surgeon. Needless to say, I spiraled. The result was increased pain at the thought of invasive surgery and seeing my MRI/X-rays. Erik helped me through the process both physically and emotionally. The latter proved to be incredibly important as my patterns of inhibiting movement out of fear was increasing my levels of pain. Erik coached me through this and frequently indicated that my back was not broken. Erik's level of commitment, compassion, and his inherently down-to-earth attitude is unrivaled by any PT I have seen (and I've seen a lot!). He focuses on the root of an issue, troubleshoots, and creates a plan for you that best fits your lifestyle. He also understands that active people/endurance athletes need to remain active. While I'm not 100% (back injuries take a long time to heal!), I know that Erik has put me on the right path. There's still more work to do, but I'm glad I've got Erik by my side to advocate for me and push me to achieve my personal health goals! What a guy! read more

I saw Corley for a hip issue. I kept telling her that I was sure something more was going on with it then what was originally diagnosed. She basically told me how wrong I was and that MRI's are only useful if you have another MRI to compare it to. If that is the case how can anyone get diagnosed at all? Anyway, I went to a sports medicine doc after this place, who diagnosed me with a severe labral tear with hip impingement. I had to have 3 anchors put in and bone removed. I hope you guys are reading this and realize how wrong you were. You should always listen to the patient and take them seriously. I still shudder when I think of our last conversation! read more

Terri Sullivan, PT has been fantastic! I was diagnosed with a very rare nervous system condition in October 2013 which left my left arm temporarily partially paralyzed and atrophied. I am an extremely active person and my vocation also requires a great deal of physical proficiency. Terri's skill, knowledge, and enthusiasm have been nothing short of a pleasure to work with considering the unfortunate circumstances I have been dealing with. I can safely say I am well on the road to recovery and I attribute her expertise, diligence as well as great bedside manner. She is a joy to be around always. Movement Systems is is the best physical therapy practice in Seattle. I had pain in my lower back for decades and Carrie was able to give me two self-correcting exercises to relief pain whenever I feel the pain, which is such a blessing. I no longer have to be tied to physical therapy all the time. The new space is really nice and spacious facing the lake. You feel like you are in a spa facility. The best PT experience I have ever had. At Movement Systems I was treated by Carrie Hall for the entire hour and was not handed off to an assistant for exercises. The best part is that Movement Systems treats the underlying cause of the problems, not just mitigating the symptoms. I have seen Carrie for treatment before and after hip replacement and for dealing with one significantly shorter leg. I never thought my leg length discrepancy could have been improved, but it is now such that I can wear regular shoes without having to have the soles built up. I've had a ongoing injury (disk herniation) from a car accident 6 years ago. Over that time, I've been to many physical therapy clinics as this injury has flared up from time to time. This most recent flare up started in March 2010, I went to PT at another place from March to July and actually got worse. My doctor suggested I "shuffle the deck" and try a new therapist before considering surgery if that didn't work after about two months or so. From day one Jill McVey was extremely enthusiastic and encouraging. She spent lots of time to properly assess my specific injury instead of doing a quick look and throwing me into a "check list" routine. I'm so impressed with the fact that here you spend the entire session with the PT as opposed to being directed by a PT assistant. She was also very good at describing WHY I have to do this certain exercise which made me buy into the program very quickly. I noticed IMMEDIATE improvement. Several practical stretches and exercises gave me practical strategies to get the flared disk calmed down. Once we achieved that, then a large amount was spent on long term prevention (like working on the underlying mechanics that influence these injuries) instead of just stabilizing your pain and then sending you off still susceptible to injury. I also appreciate that they work with what YOU have. Like if you have a couch that is bad on your back, they don't say "well just get a new couch!" they instead work with you on sitting techniques, getting up and down off it, etc. Last month I visited a surgeon for a consultation visit and they said with my progress and the excellent core program there is a 99% chance I will never have to have back surgery in my life! This place gave me hope that this problem can actually be resolved on a long term basis and not just be a thing that you have to deal with every couple years. Jill is awesome. After hobbling around for two months I finally made the time to see a PT. I picked Movement Systems based on word of mouth, Yelp, and the proximity to my house. I saw Corley McBeth for two months because of a tightness and immobility in my knee and she was fantastic. Her patience, good humor, and reassurance that I would regain mobility made all the difference. In addition to working my knee and related muscles, she also took the time to explain what was happening and most importantly--why. I'm pleased to report that I've gone from barely being able to walk to full mobility. I'm walking, doing stairs, yoga, and will resume running soon. I am PAIN FREE and fully mobile. She has really broken down the causes and helped me on a program to improvement. Movement Systems PT, and Abby Halpin, have saved my body! No exaggeration there... After trying PT in different modalities (standard PT, water, Pilates, etc.) and at least 5 different locations over the years (I'm in my 30s but have had some serious accidents that have caused long-term issues) and getting nowhere, somehow I stumbled on Movement Systems PT and was first seen by Abby Halpin a year or two ago. At my first appointment, I was astonished at the level of detail that she went through in assessing me, and that rather than assess my "complaint" points, she looked at every single part of my body and was able to explain to me that my issues were not a bunch of separate ones, but really a case of misalignment throughout my body that was causing and/or exaggerating issues that I had. Rather than treat one area, she treated my whole body. I had great improvement with her but had to stop going for a while when I left my job (and insurance). About 9 months later, back on insurance, and my issues back and out of control, I returned to Abby recently, and she has done amazing things! She's slowly putting me back together in a very clearly calculated, step-by-step methodology. The work we do in the office addresses acute issues and teaches me corrections, and the exercises that I do at home work through my whole body, in places and ways I had no idea would ever even need help... and it's working where nothing else has! At some other PTs, I've had to do tons and tons of home exercises that hurt more than helped and took way too long to do frequently enough. Abby keeps the load low, but the outcome far more effective. And if I tell her something is not quite working right or is hurting somehow, she always has an adjustment or a new exercise to take its place that does the trick. I know from talking with Abby and my Sports Medicine doctor that Movement Systems PT as a whole addresses issues from the same standpoint. I've only worked with Abby, but I would not hesitate to see somebody else there if I was new or she was gone! And I'm sure if you go in for one very specific issue, they would address that and not try to tell you that you need tons of body work. I just really, really did. It's so hard to find doctors and physical therapists that look at your body as a whole system though, and I highly recommend Movement Systems PT for any issue! read more

Robin Angus PT is an exceptional, experienced professional. She has treated me 2+ years for post-neck fracture and shoulder injury. She is accurate in assessment and treatment planning. Her targeted therapy and treatment has promoted improvement in my range of motion, decreased my pain and therefore enhanced my recovery and quality of life. I had knee injury, and Dr. W.Callahan recommended Movement Systems. People scheduling appointments are friendly, polite and accommodating, the place is welcoming. I've had about 10 appointments (every 10-14 days) with Phillip Wehrman, PT, and my knee's state and overall fitness are very much improved. I understand that Phil gathers info on your injury, your life style, your health, and your fitness goals, and creates a program (exercises and other recommendations) based on these assessments. I came with the injured knee, had pain walking and bending. I was afraid that my simple daily routine would be limited, not mentioning my favorite hiking. Phil gave me exercises which were easy, did not take much time, and helped me not only to limit pain and discomfort with my knee, but got my lower body in much better shape. I have been seeing Dr. Nate Hadley for the past couple of months. I injured my foot in February or March and after seeing a couple different doctors I decided to commit to physical therapy. I was scheduled for a major vacation in August and needed to be able to walk long distances. I was not only able to hike in the Alps in August but my balance has improved also. There is no place like Movement Systems. They not only provide insight and solutions to chronic issues in a holistic approach (where others always just look at a piece of the body), they provide you with ways to manage your own situation and pain to be able to get out of pretty much anything. I've been seeing Carrie Hall since 2005. Originally for a severely herniated disc. But due to chronic issues related to hip reconstruction at birth, I am always getting tweaked and nobody else can find the root cause like Movement Systems. I still can get myself out of most tweaks based upon things they taught me years ago (but since every new sport, new season, and aging brings new challenges to my body, I still go back on occasion to get new insights. The entire team is amazing, the support team to the PT's to the acupuncturist. I wouldn't go anywhere else. A number of trainers at my gym now go nowhere else but there too.
