Carri is a PT genius! She always is able to figure out what is wrong and make it better. I have referred many others to her and they have all said the same!! She is not your"typical" PT as she goes beyond just giving reps of exercises to do..she goes deeper into the structure of your body to assess the underlying issues. Recently she helped me figure out how to run correctly without causing low back pain. It's in process but I now have hope that at age 70 I can continue to run!! read more

I have lateral lumbar stenosis in my low back with several herniated discs. I recently had a horrendous episode of my back going out with stabbing electrical pains and was just dying! Carri worked me in immediately and by the time I walked out of her office I was standing upright and not having pain spasms! It was miraculous! Its 3 weeks later and I am pain free! I honestly don't know how to thank her enough!!! read more

I am so extremely happy to have found Carri. With joint inflammation and mobility issues, it is not easy to find a PT who can help improve my condition. Carri's use of PT methods, especially visceral manipulation have benefited me in only a few sessions. Such awesome work. She is incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive. read more

I have had excellent results in dealing with two separate injuries. Carri has remarkable intuition and insight into body mechanics. She thinks and figures out the root cause. She listens well and incorporates a lot of different inputs in designing treatment. Her recommended exercise programs are concise and effective. I really appreciate this as I do not have a ton of time for a long series of exercises. Without a doubt she is the best PT I've found. read more

Carri Kaplan, the owner of Bend to Mend Physical Therapy is amazing! She is so knowledgeable about how everything in your body works together. Carri was recommended to my husband by our doctor for debilitating back pain. She has worked with my husband for about six weeks and the results hve been amazing! He is so much more comfortable now. Carri combines many different therapies, she is trained as a massage therapist as well as a physical therapist, and she is able to combine her knowledge in multiple disciplines to treat the whole person. She sends you home with exercises that are easy to do in a home environment and has realistic expectations. My husband has had such great results, that I've recently started seeing Carri myself for an old knee injury that never healed completely. I am already feeling better and plan to use Carri to help me develop an exercise plan (She's a certified personal trainer as well! This lady is SMART!) in a few weeks! If you are recovering from an injury, have a nagging pain or just need conditioning, Bend to Mend is the place to go! read more

Carri Kaplan is hands down the best PT I have worked with. I saw her for a nagging foot issue that had been going for almost a year that nobody had been able to fix. Just when I was about to give up on the prospect of ever running again someone referred me to Carri. She is ABSOLUTELY amazing. In just five sessions she has gotten rid of my foot issue as well an ongoing hip and shoulder issue that I have had for years. With her unique blend of physical therapy, massage therapy, orthopedic manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation she is able to address the whole body vs. looking at the injury as an isolated entity. Thank you Carri for giving me the gift of being able to exercise injury free! read more

"I was referred to Carri by my Chiropractor for stubborn neck pain issue. She worked with me providing not only hands on therapy but gave me exercises to do at home. Her holistic approach was very much appreciated & I got amazing results. I learned so much from her & will go back to her the instant I need physical therapy for any future issues. I have also recommended her to friends who have expressed a need for PT. I cannot say enough about her skills. My experience with her was phenomenal." read more

Carri is a great therapist! She has skills that go well beyond the realm of physical therapy as I had previously known. She helped me recover from a back injury as well as prepare for running a half marathon; this is what I would have expected. It's her visceral work that really surprised and impressed me! I have had problems with my liver for many years and the work she did with me in combination with acupuncture have brought my liver counts down lower than they have been in a very long time! I HIGHLY recommend looking into the services Carri provides here at Bend to Mend! read more

"After 6 months of low-grade lower-back pain as a result, I think, of a big climb, I had three very painful "therapeutic" massages, laid off much of my workout routine and did lots of yoga. None of it really helped. Then my trainer recommended I see Carri Kaplan at Bend 2 Mend. After 2.5 hours of pain-FREE treatment from Carri, I'm thrilled that I have no more pain and total flexibility in my back. Carri is kind, compassionate and an exceptionally great, holistic practitioner." -Andrea, Seattle, WA read more

Carri is Amazing. Her ability to find the root causes of your ailment and the knowledge to treat them is second to none. After suffering a severe accident and breaking my pelvis, I was doing PT at a location near my house for about 1 year, 2 times a week with minimal results. I was still limited in mobility and in constant pain. I was fortunate to find Carri and in just 3 sessions, she was able to get me back to doing the basic things in life that I used to take for granted pain free. After a total of 8 sessions, I was able to exercise regularly and begin to regain control of my activities. My family and I are grateful for Carri, her approach and professionalism stands head and shoulders above the rest! read more

Carri is amazing. I came to her after high recommendation from my Doctor. I had been in a car accident recently and went through physical therapy, massage and chiropractic and just not healing even though I was doing everything I could and it had been months. I was in constant pain of varying degrees. She is getting me straightened out and on the way to pain free living. I had seen other physical therapists in the past who were making the damage worse. Now that I'm doing the exercises Carri has shown me my body is finally healing. She is also doing massage and pinpointing the problems that are keeping my body stuck. I have been so frustrated for the past year trying to heal and getting nowhere until I came here. She's very intuitive and gets to the root of the problem. I'm finally getting my life back. Don't go anywhere else. read more

Wait what do you mean you are not going to bring me in a dozen + times to "assess" my problem? Oh it's because you know what you are doing and not trying to rack up a bill. Recently I went in for a knee issue and my own diagnosis of the problem ( come on you know you've diagnosed health issues on Web MD) and Carri Kaplan (the most energetic and dynamic human I've ever seen packed into such a small frame) set me straight. Bonus? She use to be a massage therapist. Another bonus? She use to teach yoga. So in my three appointments I really received 6 sessions. Sure I can go to a doctor, receive a pill, and cover up the problem, but I want to solve rather then medicate. If you agree Carri is your PT. Not only did she give me exercises for the issue, she went well above and beyond by assessing many other area I could improve to support the healing regiment (including strengthening my yoga routine). I feel lucky to have great doctors who turned me on to Carri, I hope this review will point you in the right direction. read more

Carri Kaplan is a great physical therapist! She has a balanced and blended approach that includes massage-like techniques, visceral manipulation, targeted body work, stretches, and of course, plenty of "homework" exercises to do on your own to help you get better. I highly recommend her if you are in pain! And, I almost forgot to mention, she is a very caring individual who takes the time to get to know her clients. read more

I had to update progress I've made after going to Carri Kaplan for physical therapy. Gone are the days when I am incapacitated after straining something without exactly knowing what I was doing. I can honestly say that due to her vast knowledge she has taught me enough about myself that I know my limits which enables me to become stronger, more mobile, and free from chronic pain. In addition, I don't think I have even averaged visiting her once a month, because her technique and guidance is so effective. She is NOT about the money. She really wants to help people heal. She's highly responsive and incredibly reliable. Now only if she taught yoga would everything be complete. :-) read more

I am heading back to see Carri. After arthroscopic knee surgery, she was the only one who really helped me. She gets my complicated body and is kind, helpful, and understanding. Carri puts a lot of thought into here treatments and gives you concrete ideas and exercises to help you help yourself. read more

Carri was awesome! I love her down to earth sensible approach, strong hands and holistic approach to handling my shoulder issues. I'm a competitive beach volleyball player who came to Carri with serious pain in my shoulder. Through several sessions, Carri fixed my pain, gave me exercises to strengthen weaker muscles and helped me analyze how my hitting arm swing needed to be changed. After about 6 visits, my shoulder feels great and I'm back to playing many times a week/competing. I loved that she was an athlete too and could relate to the frustration of an injury keeping you from something that you love to do. read more

Carri is the most caring, compassionate, and attuned physical therapist I have ever worked with (and I have worked with many over the past two decades in CA and WA)! She was the only PT who gave me neck exercises that has helped reduce my neck stiffness immediately at the first signs of neckache. Her visceral manipulation work was wonderful and relaxing. I truly appreciate her attunement, patience, diagnostic and therapeutic skills. I have referred my partner and colleagues to her. I have been working with her on and off for the past two years and will always go back for any injury or maintenance work. SO thankful to have found her! read more

I went to Carri Kaplan at a space on Market St. based on the recommendation of Jonathan Bell, a Naturopath in Ballard for chronic neck pain on the right side of my neck. I go to an acupuncturist & a massage person, but he thought a more active approach would help. I agreed to see her. While Carrie might be a good massage therapist or PT, she really needs to work on her people skills. First of all, I told her that my mother-in-law had just passed away & I was very sad. She said she understood & then asked if I'd done the paperwork online & had it ready? Well, no, too sad & distracted. Ok, I filled out the papers, she asked about my insurance & then I laid down on the massage table so she could look at my neck/shoulders, etc. Carri kept asking me questions like, "Oh, your chin sticks out to the left..why is that?" My thought bubble: Uhhm, tight neck muscles? "Your shoulders are off...one is flat"...then, wait for it, "Do you have scoliosis? Because your body is so twisted..." I said, no, and don't you think I would have told you that in the first place?...And really, why doesn't she just look at my spine to SEE if I have scoliosis? Then she had me stand up, take my shirt off and look in the studio mirror & she was not pleased w/ what she saw...(Me either, since I was wearing a jog bra & my stomach looked pouchy :)...Why look, I'm unbalanced! No kidding Sherlock... I know that one shoulder presents higher than the other. My neck is messed up and I'm asking for help with my body mechanics. When does that part start?? So finally she does a little massage work which felt nice, shows me some exercises and I leave feeling like my self esteem has taken a bruising but I'm not sure why...She did compliment me on my black and gold DV sandals when I came into her space & then proceeded to step on them twice as she walked by them so I shoved them under a chair. I returned the next Monday, mostly to give Carri another chance, thinking that maybe I was having an off day. When I came in a few minutes late, she was short with me, asked how my neck/shoulders felt. As I tried to explain that the exercises she gave me helped, but I still had neck pain & it was def tied to my rt shoulder, she interrupted me and said that she didn't understand me because we speak different languages, meaning she speaks lofty medical speak and I speak dumb civillian speak. I asked her if she meant that I was speaking Spanish or another language? And then the conversation spiraled downward & I left because obviously we were not going to be able to have a working relationship of any kind. read more

Carrie has a sixth sense for finding the root of the problem. I've been to many PTs over the years and she is without a doubt the most skilled. Her goal is to help you recover and stop seeing her. Her techniques are unique and successful, and of course there are exercises for you to do at home. She is the Big Fish in a sea of not so good little fish. You will wonder why all the other physical therapists aren't as in tune with the human body as she is. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

I went to Carri for a problem of tingling in my thumb and upper arm pain. It was so painful I did not want to ride my bicycle. I had gone to chiropractic and massage and nothing helped.
