First want to start by saying Tangelo is great and they will help you fix yourself but docking a couple stars for the experience I had yesterday. I called ahead to check about insurance for my husband they said it was covered (through premera) turns out it's covered after you hit $3200 out of your own pocket.. which you'll do pretty quick I think they assume by giving you a treatment plan of 2 times a week for 8 weeks at $180 a pop. Maybe I should've known this but also feel like this should've been clarified when I called over the phone. Either way I still would've sent my husband just didn't love what felt a bit like a bait and switch. The chiro was late. They "ran out" of parking passes, we ended up having to pay for parking because we went over the 90 minutes, that was just kinda the cherry on top. Overall they will help you get better just posting this for transparency and so maybe going forward they'll be more forthcoming with their customers. read more

This place is something else! I wasn't having too many hopes after I developed really bad low back and knee pain after minor climbing injury - but when I saw Dr Joe he did some trigger points pressure massage and I was shown some exercises with a roller. Same day my pain decreased like 70%! I can hardly believe it but it happened after nothing helped for days. Hopefully it will continue that way but I am already happy to not have pain at least for one day ! :-) read more

Dr Joe and Nick have helped my neck pain significantly. I've had recurring neck pain for years and Tangelo is the first place where I've gotten treatment that has given long-lasting improvement instead of just short-term relief. I just had my first session at Tangelo to figure out this hip thing and I AM SO IMPRESSED. With my other PT (who I saw through my insurance), I left feeling frustrated, uninspired and really limited - like I couldn't trust my body and take things up another notch. So glad to have found Tangelo! I was referred by coaches at my gym for help with a nagging shoulder injury that wasn't showing much progress using traditional physical therapy. After several months it was still holding me back from my fitness and weight loss goals. Dr. Smith started with a comprehensive assessment to diagnose and treat not only the symptoms, but underlying causes. This uncovered areas of over-reliance along with areas that that needed strengthening and increased mobility. Is it weird to say I'm grateful that I got injured, since it led to me working with the team at Tangelo?! I really can't recommend them highly enough. About a year and a half ago, I experienced a foot injury which made walking difficult and running (my sport of choice) unbearable, and Dr Bart, Nick, and the rest of the team got me back in game -- not only more quickly than I expected, but feeling better and stronger than ever (and currently training for my second half marathon since the injury), and armed with new tools to continue to improve my fitness, recovery, and longevity. I suffered a pretty gnarly medial subtaylor ankle dislocation at the end of April preparing for my annual Hoopfest basketball tournament with some of my best friends. I was hopeful at first that I had enough time to come back, but was told by my doctor that my chances were slim to none to get back to basketball shape in the 2 months before the outdoor tournament. I was in a cast for a full month with no weight bearing, so I came to Tangelo with a month before Hoopfest, torn ligaments, and very little strength. The whole team was awesome and super supportive. Specifically, I worked with Lisa and Kyle. Both are great people and super knowledgeable in their areas. And they combined to give me a rehab plan I felt great about. Going in 2-3 times/week allowed me to push my ankle in a comfortable way and speed up my recovery significantly. With less than a week to spare, I felt comfortable to play and got the thumbs up from Kyle and Lisa. It ended up being my favorite Hoopfest in the almost 10 years I have been going, and it meant a ton to get to play with my best friends. Without their help and guidance, there is no way that I would have been able to play with the confidence I had in my injured ankle. I never felt like a number there, and putting in the work was easy with their whole team. I experienced trauma to my calf 1 week prior to a major sport event. It was obvious based on the trauma that it was a bruise and I told the doctor as such. However, as is common with PTs, he wanted to check my entire body to see how inflexibility in my wrist/neck caused this pain. Maybe I need help there but he determined that I needed do all these exercises to strengthen/lengthen my sciatic nerve. It turned out to be a calf bruise and I ended up recovering on my via hot tubs and icy hot. read more

Change your story. Cute slogan, right? But KSR has lived up to it in the biggest way possible. My story, as far back as I can remember, has been that I'm the clumsy one, the wimpy one, the tired one, the one on crutches or wearing a brace, the one who's joints dislocated with the slightest of movements. I always bounced back and tried again as a kid, but after a few years of severe chronic illness and nearly losing my life to cancer, it was a lot harder to get back up. The year in bed took it's toll on my body, and led to new diagnoses: chronic fatigue and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder. I finally understood WHY I felt so awful, but with treatment limited to symptom management, I felt hopeless. My rheumatologist waffled on whether physical therapy would help or hurt. She finally agreed that I might try to strengthen my shoulders, but to avoid any stretching or exercises that might increase range of motion (my soft tissue is like an over-stretched rubber band), following up instead with massage therapy for the inevitable aches that would result. I'm a mom with young kids, and fitting regular PT and massage sessions into my schedule never happened. A year later, I sprained my neck. Suddenly, finding a physical therapist couldn't wait. I live near Greenlake and had passed Kinetic quite a few times. Their sandwich board always caught my eye, but after hurting my neck, every word jumped out at me and I found myself inside talking to Mckenzie, asking if they could help someone with such complex joint issues. They were just about to close, but one of the doctors took a few minutes to talk with me. I left, encouraged that they might actually be able to help, with an appointment scheduled. Two days later, I met Dr Bart. One of the first things he told me put me at complete ease: even though he's a chiropractor, he was trained to never do spinal adjustments on anyone with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Instead, he gave me a soft tissue ART treatment that relaxed my spasming neck muscles, then started me off with some simple exercises for my neck and shoulders out on the rehab floor. Each visit includes a treatment with Dr Bart, but Tyler and Geneva took over my rehab starting on my second appointment. I feel like I have my own personal team of cheerleaders. At each of my first few appointments, I came in with a new complaint. EDS is a head to toe condition, so this didn't surprise me, but the team didn't even flinch. A dislocated wrist at my third visit just meant we had to get a little creative. Hurting my toe walking on sand at the beach meant adding some new exercises. Every acute issue was dealt with at that appointment, and led to the fastest recoveries I have ever experienced. As my neck improved, we kept adding new exercises to deal with my other problem areas, and after just a few weeks, my injuries slowed to a trickle. At about 8 weeks into my treatment, there was a sudden shift. My joints were stable enough that I wasn't experiencing unprovoked dislocations. My overall pain levels were lower than they had been in years. My rehab changed from gentle to brutal (but in a good way). Tyler and Geneva still watch me like hawks-- poor proprioception is common with EDS, and it's easy for me to hurt myself when I lose track of what my body is doing. I've gotten used to Tyler's mischievous grin when I tell him I finished my reps or I hold up a timer after it beeps-- "Oh, you thought you were done? Do some more." I'm in pain again, but it's a very different type-- a healthy muscle burn. It's been weeks since I've dislocated a shoulder, I can't remember the last time my hips popped, and my knees are far more stable. I feel like a different person, and I'm acting like one too! Almost every day, after I drop my kids at school, I walk or jog around Greenlake. I purposefully walk on errands rather than driving. I ran a 5k this weekend, and instead of sleeping the rest of the day, I kept moving, even running my dog a few miles in the moonlight. I have more energy, and end up taking far fewer unanticipated naps. I'm happier, and I yell at my kids less. If this isn't a changed story, I don't know what is! I walked into Kinetic hoping they could help my neck and reduce my joint pain, and I've come out a different person. I've got a long way to go, but I'm already farther than I ever thought I could get. I had accepted chronic pain, frequent injuries, and limited mobility as a given for my life, but now I have such hope for my future. I can't recommend Kinetic strongly enough. I started going to Kinetic as my workout routine intensified in diversity of activity and frequency and I could no longer "ignore" some nagging injuries. My experience with sports medicine is long from 4 years of division 1 sports med out of state and also a few visits to an in state D1 facility. I was dealing with a leg injury that had been holding me back for 3 months and went into Kinetic Rehab out of desperation 3 weeks before I was scheduled to compete in a 70.3 Ironman triathlon. After only 3 1/2 weeks of work with Dr. Paul Molina doing soft tissue work and the great team of trainers teaching me stretches and strength-building exercises to take home, I was able to finish the entire half marathon at the end of my 70.3 completely pain free. This was after not being able to run for more than 6 miles in the past 3 months without my knee giving out. No one ever hopes to get injured at work and go through the L&I process, unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to me. The moment I felt the pain in my back, I dreaded the long process that was sure to follow. Thankfully, I work right next to Kinetic and was able to be seen the day after my injury. For 5 years I had a pesky ankle pain that kept me from doing pretty much anything. Any distance over 6 miles would have me in agony. Considered briefly chopping the ankle off. About six months ago I pulled my left hip flexor. It healed after a few months. Then I strained my right one a few months later, except this time it was much worse -- I couldn't walk, sleep, or put my clothes on without severe pain. Being a competitive athlete I knew I needed to get help, otherwise I would continue hurting myself without understanding. A coworker recommended I try Kinetic Sports Rehab at the Interbay location. I was skeptical at first, but the pain was too serious not to at least give them a try. Also, my coworker kept pestering me with her raving review -- How could a rehab clinic be THAT good? Are they paying her? Do they give her cocktails at the beginning of her session? Does someone rub her feet? I needed to make my own assessment. Though I'm an athlete, my primary goal was to be out of pain. Going back to training didn't cross my mind yet. It wasn't something I thought would happen for a long time. From the first visit with Doctor Eric and Sean I knew I made the right choice. They assessed me and told me they believe they could get me pain free in a few visits AND I would be back to training by the end of my 12 sessions. That was some goddamn music to my ears. I only have two sessions left (I've been going three times a week for a month) and I have been back to training for more than two weeks. I am not back to 100% -- I can't squat with any weight YET -- but I am much further than I imagined I could be in a short month. Now on to the men (and woman) of the hour: Doctor Eric is incredibly professional, kind and knowledgeable. Coming into each session I felt he genuinely cared how I was doing, both with my injury and generally as a human being. He never told me what activites I could or couldn't do -- it was more a conversation about what would benefit me most to get back to 100% in the fastest and safest way. He seriously has healing hands and if you feel like you have an injury that won't go away, I challenge you to see him and walk away feeling like he can't help you. Oh, and his good sense of humor and easy-going personality don't hurt either. Sean is a joy to be around. And that's a pretty vast understatement. His enthusiasm is electric and contagious. It's obvious he loves his job and is passionate about helping people get well and move better. That atmosphere is ideal and a utopia for injured athletes. (Yeah, I know I sound like a fanatic...but it's true.) I've never come into Kinetic when I've had a bad day, but I know if I did Sean's energy would snap me right out of it. During each exercise, he made sure to walk me through how to do it and more importantly WHY I was doing it. The explanations helped me understand the progress I was making. He was always prompt in sending me my at-home exercises after each session. The load of exercises he had me do at home was manageable and I could do them before bed or even in front of the TV. Last but not least -- Shauna. She made planning out a month's worth of appointments easy. When I had to reschedule she was not only accommodating but did it without any hesitation (I feel like I would get attitude if I tried at different places). Great conversationalist and a perfect addition to the trifecta that is Kinetic Sports Rehab - Interbay. This review may be long-winded, but it's the praise this team deserves. Eights months after a pretty gnarly hemi-thyroidectomy I still had greatly reduced range of motion in my neck and swallowing was difficult. I liked the comprehensive approach Kinetic advertised and started seeing Dr. Bart. True to their word, I received treatment and initial PT on my first visit. Dr. Bart explained the treatment plan and worked with the team on exercises to get muscles in my neck moving more freely, as well as strengthening back and core muscles. After a month of 2-3 times a week and daily exercises my neck moves as well as ever, and scar tissue is breaking up nicely. The team is highly encouraging, they explain what all of the exercises are intended to do, and carefully watch for correct form. I absolutely love having a team focused on my needs and creating a plan that has put me in better shape than I've seen in years. read more

Luckily for me one of my trainers recommended the team over at Kinetic and I'm so glad she did. Dr. Bart and Tyler and the rest of the team worked diligently to get me ready for the big day. They were great about giving me boundaries that worked with the training that I needed to get in, but also keeping me on the path to recovery. I had a 2 disc fusion on my neck performed in April of 2014. At the recommended time from my surgeon, I started to go to Physical Therapy at a local place near my house (not KSR). I dilegently did the exercises, and she did very minor massage to alleviate some of the pain, but I felt next to nothing in terms of improvement. My muscles had just gotten stuck in their patterns of holding on to tension because of the pain I was in pre-surgery and now I needed to relearn how to move my head and not overuse these muscles. After 3 months at that place I just stopped going, because I didn't notice any improvment. I started seeing a rehab massage therapist that really worked those overused muscles, which alleviated the pain part, but didn't help my range of motion. After a while I was referred to KSR and I could tell during my first visit that this was a game changer. I listened to their approach and it just made sense. They were going to give me exercises to isolate and teach me how to use the muscles that we were targetting instead of the overused ones. Each day I went I felt better. My range of motion increased and the new way of moving is feeling more natural. I still have a little way to go, but I know this is the right approach. I have been seeing Dr. Bart for the overall path and adjustments, and the team on the rehab floor has been awesome I've seen Tyler, Geneva and Derek. read more

You can get "injured" without having an injury. That happened to me after an inflamitory condition heated up and caused damage to my hips. I couldn't sit, I couldn't walk much, I couldn't workout or surf. I'd worked with my rheumatologist to tamp down the inflammation, but my hip muscles and IT bands were toast. Kinetic helped me reduce my my pain, get back mobility, and get back in the gym for full workouts. They've also helped me tamp down flare-ups, and keep them from spreading to new areas (pain in one place means nearby areas try to compensate, and then they become strained...). I really can't thank them enough. A couple tips: if you can, consider checking them out in their mid-day availability, 10-4, where they don't have to cycle through as many patients. Come dressed comfortably, and feel free to change after, they've got changing rooms. Ask questions, the team is extremely knowledgeable and well-networked in the medical community--they helped me find a great acupuncturist and suggested nutritionists. If you're looking around and notice that everyone wears a cross fit shirt with bulging biceps, don't worry, you're in good hands as someone without an injury, but with a condition. If you have an inflammatory/immune condition, they're a fantastic place to go to heal up. read more

I started going to physical therapy cause of Crossfit. And I'm going to physical therapy so I can do more Crossfit. This virtuous cycle doesn't make sense to many but the truth is I'm getting in the best shape of my life because of Crossfit but I almost had to quit. Being in my late 30s and having done heavy strength training most of my life (golds gym stuff) my body was not Crossfit friendly. I'd get back spasms from many WODs, particular those that include deadlifts or kettlebell swings. I'd get shoulder impingement from pull-ups. I had to take a week off here and there to let my lower back recover, only to kill it again. I was loving Crossfit but it was killing me. Enter Kinetic Sports Rehab. I visited Dr. Joe at this Tangelo office in November 2017, as I had been struggling with a bad case of golfer's elbow for nearly two years (from rock climbing.) At the time, just the act of turning a doorknob was painful. Well, after an intensive two weeks for consultation and rehab treatment, I started climbing again after a forced three-month break. And since then I've been hitting it hard with CrossFit 4 - 5 times a week, in combination with training for rock climbing. I never dreamed I would be where I am at today. In less than a year I'm as fit as ever at the age of 37, and pain-free. I'm climbing stronger than ever before (I started rock climbing 18 years ago), and I've also been able to completely recover from a severe ankle sprain and a shoulder injury that occurred in March of this year (mainly due to the experience of how CARs, mobility exercises, etc. can benefit me.) I've been working with Dr. Mike Smith, Geneva and Derek this year after some pain in my shoulder and neck prevented me from being able to rock climb - for far too long (many months). I've been to other physical therapy places where I felt they weren't assessing the right problem and had little to no improvement for it. From my very first assessment, I could tell Dr. Smith and Kinetic is different. My first appointment he evaluated and asked for my sport and injury history from my head to my toes. He holistically looked at my situation and targeted the root of the problem. Short version: After seeing Dr. Lisa and Sean for 30 days, I could start moving and working out again without the nagging tweaks and aches that have kept me on the sidelines for years. For me, that's a big deal. Kinetic is different from anything else I've tried, and I've tried a lot. I highly, highly recommend them to anyone trying to get back into quality movement without pain. Long version: My wife became pregnant with our son in early 2014. I was 43 at the time, and painfully aware that being out of shape wasn't an option for a new dad. After 20 years of Muay Thai, Kali, and Western boxing, my body was a mess. My low back was always aching and stiff, and I'd never really recovered from injuries to my shoulder, ankle, and A/C joint over the years. I'd gone through traditional rehab twice before for my back, the second time for a year. That helped get me out of chronic pain but apprehensive about doing much more than rehab exercises and maybe TRX. Also, traditional rehab didn't have much to offer on all of the other tweaks I'd been struggling with; the prescription said "treat for low back pain," and they didn't seem too curious about anything else. Then I went to Kinetic on Interbay. I'd bought a book on functional fitness that suggested I start with a "functional movement screen" to address my problem areas before I loaded weight on any movements. Sounded like good advice, and after a quick Google search I made an appointment for a consult with Dr. Lisa. The intake was much more comprehensive than anything I'd experienced before, and she had a very whole-body perspective. It turns out that my old ankle injury had decreased my range of motion, my hip was compensating, and I'd developed a classic dysfunctional movement pattern as a result. It was a relief to hear that it wasn't just me, I really wasn't moving as well as I used to. Dr. Lisa really knows her stuff. Then she turned me over to Sean, the lead PT. Don't let the smile and enthusiasm fool you, Sean is also an incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful practitioner. Most importantly, he and Dr. Lisa work as a team. Every time I go in, they work together to run down any twinges or issues that come up since the last session and identify the root causes (which are often not at all what I would've thought). Dr. Lisa works some magic that seems to help right away, and then Sean adjusts my program to help the changes stick. They work across 3-4 different modalities, and it feels like I have a pro-level sports medicine team in my corner. Whatever they're doing, it's definitely working. I can do reasonably tough workouts (Turkish get-ups, kettlebell swings, barbell deadlifts, farmer carries) without pain the next day. Even better, I'm no longer worried about trying new things in the gym because I know that Dr. Lisa and Sean have my back if something comes up. I'm getting back in shape, and increasingly confident that I'll be able to play with my son whenever he wants over the next decade or so. That's a good feeling. I am a very active person and I had increased my training load for an upcoming marathon. Unfortunately, I began having Achilles tendon pain and ankle pain with the increased load. By complete chance I met Dr. Joe Farris and he was able to identify the problem right away. I went to Kinetic Sports Rehab in Greenlake and Dr. Joe worked on the pain points while I also received PT with Tyler. As a team they worked very well and I really began to improve. Things started easy, but they adjusted the difficulty such that by the end of 12 sessions I was struggling and the PT became intense! I truly felt like I was building muscles that were underdeveloped. I also have a new workout routine to keep developing these muscles to prevent recurrences. My pains began to dissipate and I was surprised that never once did anyone tell me that I should stop training or scale back. I've had doctors tell me this before, but I feel that they simply don't understand the mindset of someone who is seriously training for a goal. It's nearly impossible to stop training! If my body is not completely broken... then I'm running. Fortunately Dr. Joe and Tyler were willing to do their best to ensure that I didn't miss a step! At the end of the treatment course I was ready to run the marathon and I set a new PR! Overall I'm very happy with the treatment I received and I would recommend the team without any reservations. After having surgery in June 2015 to repair my right Achilles tendon, I began my physical therapy regimen at Kinetic Sports Rehab with Dr. Eric and Sean. Both guys are extremely knowledgeable and customer focused which makes for a great experience. I also like the fact that they both seek to continue their education. The team has developed a special paradigm for treating patients most effectively: they listen to all of your concerns and accurately assess the nature of the problem, develop a very effective treatment plan, and then you progress to the workout floor to perform exercises to address specific weaknesses. The program is very effective and Dr. Joe has kept me coming back after several injuries to perform at my best. All of the employees are skilled and friendly; they will always approach you with a smile. I found Kinetic Sports Rehab on yelp so it's only appropriate that I write my own yelp review about how AMAZING this place is. I had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee Dec 2 2014. I am a very athletic person and having that surgery really held me down from getting back into my fitness routine. After my check up, my doctor recommend 12 sessions of physical therapy and referred me to a place that was near my house. When I went to yelp to look for reviews on the place they weren't top notch and I wanted, and needed, top notch. Kinetic seemed like the perfect place for me. From the pictures it looked bright, energetic and they seemed progressive. they use multiple forms of rehab to help you improve and get healthy. My research and first impression of the place paid off. I can not say enough about how wonderful my experience at Kinetic has been. From scheduling with Mackenzie, to meeting Geneva and Sean on the floor and working with Dr. Molina... Nothing was short of perfect. Tangelo is amazing! When I got pregnant, I was really concerned about not being able to take ibuprofen because I get a lot of neck and back pain. I had already been going to Tangelo intermittently and was impressed with the setup of chiropractic care combined with a rehab team--as well as the upbeat, friendly atmosphere created by the staff. Once I was pregnant, I started going weekly as a preventative and it made a bigger impact on my physical health than I ever anticipated. Each week, the rehab team worked off the suggestions of the chiropractor and my own input to create a personalized program of exercises. As the weeks progressed, I noticed the exercises were getting more challenging, but my body was keeping up because the progress had been gradual. One day I asked, "What is this exercise called?" and they said it was a deadlift! I never expected to take up weightlifting in my life, let alone while pregnant, but it turned out to be exactly what I needed. My neck and back pain improved dramatically and I was able to go through my pregnancy--and now the postpartum period--feeling strong. So strong, in fact, that I'm planning to continue with the weekly appointments even now that my pregnancy is over.
