This review is long due and I am writing it now because I saw a trend of people's things going missing during the move and that's exactly what happened with us. We hired them in Feb 2022 and during the move my wife's jewelry box went missing with tens of thousands worth of jewelry, most of them engraved with her name and were given to her by her mother and grandmother so it had huge sentimental value to her. We couldn't even think that it could be stolen and thought we must have kept it somewhere and it will turn up as we unpack. Soon after unpacking we realized it's gone. We messaged them but couldn't get it resolved. They did call us in response to our message which we missed and this topic just ended there. They should have made more efforts to resolve it than just one obligatory call. This could have been a huge liability for them if we had gone to the police. I'd recommend don't hire them and if you do, keep an eye on your valuables. P.S. there were several other issues during the move but they felt trivial compared to this. read more

They stole my husband's bass guitar. I used these guys twice. Once for my move in 2019 and the two gentlemen who came were excellent (Ramon and Carlos I believe). I had such a good experience that I used them again for our 2021 move and this is where it went wrong. This time a third guy (Chris?) was with them - he was eyeballing my husband's music related stuff the whole time - comments like "cool poster" , "great band". He also kept making comments that felt off like "this truck is so messy I am not used to such a messy truck" which in hindsight was probably him setting up an excuse for something to "get lost". Lo and behold my husband's prized possession, his Geddy Lee bass guitar, never made it to our new home. It went onto the truck and never came off. I called to inquire about whether they found it in the truck and to make a claim, and was confronted by a very rude man who was very confrontational and intimidating about me "accusing his guys" and insisting we keep searching for it. I reluctantly agreed to keep looking (even though we'd already searched high and low) because he was bullying me and making me feel very uncomfortable. However, the bass guitar never did show up. Due to the fear of being bullied by this person and also being emotionally distraught about the loss we never did call back again to pursue the insurance claim. We are out over $2500 in goods and didn't receive a dime of compensation or even an apology. Never again. You've been warned. read more

I have been in the military for 15 years and have done several moves and this was terrible! I hate to even have to leave a 1-star review - I don't take it lightly. -To start movers showed up late -Absolutely no sense or urgency what so ever. I understand moving takes time, but I've had moves with triple the amount of stuff done in less time. It was clear that time was not considered and every hour was more $ for them -My brand new $2,000 cough was literally covered in black tar looking hand prints - and there is no way the movers couldn't see it -Dresser legs are ruined (see pics) -one of the guys was playing my daughter's guitar and one took a ride on her scooter - maybe not a huge deal, but when I'm paying you for a professional service this is UNSAT and so unprofessional -paid an extra hour to but my bed together - I literally almost fell apart the second I got on it and had to have it redone anyways Lunch breaks are fine and important, but 2 hours is a bit excessive. When I called Joseph, the "operations manager" he was less than helpful. I was clearly upset, but I had every right to be. His response to me was "well if you were so unhappy why did you tip them?" I tipped them because I am a good human being and wasn't going to give them nothing at all - even if I have poor service at a restaurant I still leave a tip - what I decide to tip is my business and concern, it doesn't change the fact that this was the worst, most unprofessional service. I paid $255 for 3 hours on Groupon, and then $150 for every hour after - I was charged another $750 even after the Groupon just to move 2 bedrooms, a couch, dining room table, some garage stuff, and a few other things. I told Joseph I would like to speak with the owner and still have not received a call back. I am sick over all of this - it just feels like a total waste of money and time and I had no option but to pay for a terrible service. read more

This was the WORST company I could have had move my items. They ruined so many of my possessions. My husband had already moved most of our items with a 6x12 trailer prior so that it could be a quick/easy job. This company still couldn't move everything. They left a MESS and over half of my things at the old condo. We had to get another trailer and do the rest of the house ourselves! These guys took 7 hours for a 2 bedroom condo. They were milking the time and didn't want to move anything big including the TVs! WE moved them ourselves. It was such a sloppy job. They placed our safe UPSIDE DOWN resulting in thousands in damage. Don't trust them to touch your furniture. I have scratches and missing hardware. They gave me a quote and charged $300 over that. They kept my items on the truck until I paid, intimidating me. I was by myself because my husband was at work and it was a horrible threatening situation. They also refused to refund any of my money after I called. I am filing a complaint with FMCSA as this is fraudulent behavior. I forgot how many guys I requested to move and accidentally set out too many drinks because there's NO WAY only 2 people moved that much stuff so quick. Impressed doesn't even begin. I had a terrible experience with Move 4 Less and would caution anyone from booking with them. On the day of our move, I was waiting outside my storage unit in the hot sun at the scheduled time that we had agreed upon (and I had confirmed with a phone call). They didn't show. When I called to find out where they were, the first told me they didn't have me on their schedule (WHAT?!) and then said they would be there in about two hours and that they had never agreed to the previous time. Throughout the entire conversation they were rude, unprofessional and totally unconcerned about the fact that I was waiting for them in the heat. They refused to take responsibility, insisted the mistake was mine -- it was not -- and were so rude and unprofessional that I decided to cancel with them all together. They hung up on me when I said I wanted my deposit returned since they hadn't come at the scheduled time. These guys are the cheapest I could find online, and I think that's for good reason. If you want to book with them, I caution you that you get what you pay for. read more

We had Stu, Carlos and Brian help us move from Carmel Mountain to Escondido and I have nothing but good things to say about those 3!! They did an excellent job for us. They worked their asses off!! Moving is a stressful enough experience as is, and Move 4 Less did not help the situation. My wife and I purchased a house, and we decided to hire movers to make the move a bit easier, we had a lot of stuff and knew it could take us days going alone. We did some research on Group On and found Move 4 Less, with fairly good reviews and a decent price. We had 2 rooms and a garage, so beds, dressers, desks, etc etc. Let me start with Scheduling the move. I called to schedule our move on Saturday, a couple days before we needed to be moved, and spoke to what I believe is the owner. He asked how many rooms I would be moving, and what was the heaviest item. This is where things went bad, it felt like he wasn't listening to me on the phone, he didn't repeat what I was saying, and he didn't relay any information I stated. No verifying my phone number, no verifying my address, just "What's the address?" After he gave me the okay to buy the Group On I called him back and he told me in the end, I would be receiving an email with the invoice shortly. On the day of the move I went to work, and received a text from my wife that they had a tiny truck, she was soon told they were only told it was 1 room. They also informed her that it would take 5-7 hours to move us. I checked my invoice, WHICH was sent at 7:00AM day of the move, and saw that it was allocated for 1 room, with our heaviest item being listed as a couch. My wife was in the room and he was on speaker phone, I told him 2 rooms and a dresser as the heaviest item. I called the owner, and he told me "he had his notes out, and I said 1 room and the couch." I refuted his claims and he continued to tell me differently because of "his notes" and he stated "Well you bought the wrong Group On anyways." So, while I was confirming on the phone with him the details, he FAILED to relay that I did not buy the right Group On, nor did he EVER relay any of the information I told him. He told me on the phone, essentially, that this is all my fault. He did not meet me half way in our issue, he did not accept ANY responsibility. I told him that his guys could have the 3 hours of moving, move all the big stuff, and get out. Now, I believe I used stronger language than that, but I don't want this to get removed because people need to know. I would NEVER recommend this moving company to ANYONE. Our movers were perfect gentlemen, but the owner needs to learn what customer service is. read more

To set the stage, we are not talking about a whole house move. We requested to move a king size bedroom set and a dining room set 23 miles. I described the pieces and even noted that it was solid, Thomasville furniture. To movers, they know that means heavy and bulky. Everything sounded great from the start... quick to call back, price and time were spot on. Then John and his partner showed with a truck too small to fit everytting. Now I am one that believes it's not the problem, it's how you resolve it. That's where things went downhill. After John got half the furniture on the truck, he realized that a 7'2" China cabinet wouldn't fit. It was just too tall. From here, it turns into an ugly game of he said, she said. My wife asked if they could lay the cabinet down. John's response, I wouldn't do that it's all glass and could easily break. John's boss says the opposite, John told us that he suggested they just lay it down and your wife rejected that solution. BTW John's boss... when all other stuff was loaded, there was no room to lay them down so the point is moot. John's next solution was to unload everything and they wouldn't charge us. So when can you come back to finish the job? John, I can't say I only go where my boss tells me to go. At this point, my wife and I have both been trying to reach John's boss without response for 30-45 minutes. My wife asked about a second trip. John's response, we will have to charge you will drive time and the extra hours. My wife... why would I pay you for your mistake? You show up with a 17' truck 1/4 full of other stuff? John's boss says that we were offered a second trip and would discount the price for the trouble?!? Somewhere along the line, John also commented that he just wanted to get home. I get it... It's 430 in the afternoon and he's probably on his second or third pick up/delivery. Now everything is loaded except the three-piece China cabinet and John gets a hold of someone. The only offer John makes after the call is to finish the job tomorrow, but that would require another four hour minimum. According to John's boss, that was not the case. I certainly know that there is always two sides to every story. I only know the end result. That is John and his partner moved only some of the furniture we contracted for. An acceptable solution was not reached and NO ONE ever called my wife or me back. After waiting four days for anyone to reply I called back and someone did pick up. I heard John's side of the story through his boss. Like I said, an epic case of he-said/she-said. The "boss" offered no solution or sympathy, just "John's" story. In the end, no one had the courtesy to return my call. We had to hire another crew to finish the job and I had to write my first scathing review. read more

My move was scheduled for 9am and the movers did not arrive until 9:45. I spoke with the owner (I presume) and he advised me there was issues with their truck and they were getting a back up, which is why they were running behind schedule. He was informative and had great customer service dealing with an upset customer (me.... at first!) The service provided by Stewie and Brian was top notch! They were professional and personable. They went above and beyond to take care of my stuff while moving quickly. Moving can be stressful, but having movers like Stewie and Brian makes it way more manageable! 5 stars for great service! read more

I hired move for less to move my law office from SD to Chula Vista. Dalton and Carlos were on time and they did an excellent job of wrapping furniture so it wouldn't get scratched. They moved our office up a flight of stairs and although it was difficult they got the job done in a timely manner. I recommend this company. I have used them twice over the years. Great service. I submitted a request for a long distance quote via Yelp and received a response in less than 24 hours. Joseph answered the business line promptly and confirmed my move within an hour. Brian and Jeremiah wrapped all of my furniture with care and moved everything efficiently into a storage unit. Fast and friendly. Pricing was very competitive. They are polite on the phone. And I set up a appointment date and before we got off the phone he asked for my credit card information to hold a $50 deposit. I told him I didn't feel comfortable to give my credit or debit card information over the phone. I also mentioned me meeting him at his office with a check or something and he said they ONLY take payments over the phone.. because of that I will not be using these guys. Moving is very stressful. Move 4 Less is the best moving company I have ever worked with. I was moving from La Jolla to Pacific Beach and from the first phone call, through the end of my actual move, they treated me and my belongings with respect and even a sense of humor. Joey, Jamal and Freddy arrived promptly and immediately got to work. I had several large and average pieces of furniture as well as a lot of boxes to move out of a third floor 2 bedroom apartment and never once did they complain. They were efficient and very careful with everything. Not one item moved was broken or damaged in any way. My move into my new place was also very efficient. They took the time to make sure I was happy where they were placing things and kept a smile on their faces the whole time. Move 4 Less was scheduled to arrive within the 2-4PM window, Alex and Ramon contacted me about 30 mins prior to their arrival. They got to my place early, and evaluated the items that needed to be moved. Both gentlemen were great, and got straight to work. These guys are on point! Booked a small move for 3 hours... Done in 2. Wrapped up everything with blankets and took care while moving all my stuff(was with them the whole time).
