I have been to Mountain View twice. The first time I went I was looking forward to having the clam strip dinner. The clam strips were medium warm, the sweet potato fries were soggy. The clams were those that you would get at the bottom of the bag. The Coke was good. The second time I went, only because one of my children wanted to go there, I decided to try the pepper something grinder. It was something the size of a small frozen hamburger pressed down to try to fit a 6 inch grinder roll and had a pile of cold canned red peppers on top of the miniscule whatever it was. Absolutely no taste......all roll. The Coke was good. I have no idea about any other items on the menu and I have no intention of ever going back. read more

Stopped here for lunch this weekend. It was too cold to eat outside but enjoyed the warmth inside. This was my first time visiting. Cute place with a variety of food. All of our meals were good. I had a turkey bacon grinder and my friends had a burger and hot dog with fries. Our only complaint was that the burger was not cooked enough in the middle. Staff was friendly. Will definitely be back in the summer to try the ice cream. Cute hometown place to go to. read more

Not my go to place for ice cream but I enjoy mixing it up from time to time. Was hoping to get a bite to eat before ice cream but the food was no longer being made at 8:15 (closes at 9 on a Sunday). Ordered a small pistachio soft serve with chocolate sprinkles, out of chocolate sprinkles.... so got rainbow. While waiting a young couple showed up and overheard them ordering chicken sandwiches or salads or whatever, just wasn't impressed with that I was told food is done and these two were ordering something. Maybe they knew the person working? My ice cream was ok, didn't hit the spot. It will be a while before I willingly come back for my next ice cream or for food. read more

Our family has been coming here every week for many many years. Nice place, decent food but the quality has been going down while the prices go up. The picnic tables are filthy. Melted ice cream, food particles. Finding one that is tolerable is a challenge. Should be scrubbed daily. PS: quarter pound burger had a regular patty. They can do better. read more

Solid burgers, good soft serve ice cream. Regular fries (aka not the curly fries) were reL good. Friendly, if rush, order taker (outdoor, haven't tried the indoor seating). Challenges: considering the atmosphere, prices seem a little high and the "coke" or "Pepsi" is actually RC cola (nasty). I ordered both at different times to see if they would correct me or say what it really was (brand), but they didn't. Outdoor seating leaves a lot to be desired. Benches are in rough shape. Screws sticking out. Very sticky and dirty. Desperate need for a cleaning and repair. Then regular cleaning... There is also poison ivy a foot from the tables, so be careful. Went there today, around 3:00pm. Good service, but, not too good ice cream. Had a vanilla soft serve cone. It had No flavor and was very "ice" crystal tasting. I was hoping that the new owners would do better. After all a new ice cream shop is going to open soon in East Longmeadow. read more

There's just something about about coming here that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time - like you're instantly creating memories for, say, your four-year-old nephew who will one day tell his kids about coming here in the hot summers. Something about the hot summer sun makes me crave this place. Is it the fro-yo cone that's going to melt and drip on me and the already-sticky picnic bench I'm sitting on? Is it the deep-fried everything? (okay, not everything, they have burgers, dogs and a bunch more) As someone who will generally pass on a drop in the fryer, I come here for the chicken finger basket - crispy crunchy, so hot and a big handful of fries. and I can actually get honey at this place to dip them in! Yay! The service, outside counter or inside waitstaff, is nothing special. The picnic benches outside are enjoyed if you can tolerate the bees and/or mosquitos and the dripped, dropped, dried soft-serve on the bench. A classic, though, and a childhood staple. Went today for lunch. It's great that they are open but I suspect they have a new crew for this year. Asked for a hamburger with Lettuce tomato and onion, received hamburger with just onion. Asked for crinkle cut fries received regular fries. No napkins, ketchup or salt and pepper. Under the circumstances I didn't want to go back to the counter and have them make it right. The hot dogs, hamburgers and french fries are good, but not "amazing". Our experience today: Upon arrival at 11:00am they were closed. We waited and promptly opened once they saw us in the parking lot. The server said they weren't doing so well during the week so they were only open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Open for lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday. We didn't partake in the ice cream so I can't review that at this time. Be aware! CASH ONLY!!! It has a good size parking lot, with a few picnic tables with umbrella's. We will return on a good day for an outdoor eating experience. read more

Secondly Ive been coming here every week for months now, today I happen to come in and I was 10 cents short of my order because they only accept cash, I explained to the young lady working the counter i come here every week I can pay you 10 cents next time I come, she was then rude and said she cannot do that and told me if I could not come up with 10 cents then I have to remove stuff off my order, Very unprofessional and a bs way to treat loyal customers. read more

I have been a fan of mountain view for the past 30+ years. But I have to say something has changed with their vanilla soft serve. I always get just plain vanilla and it always very creamy and has had wonderful flavor. I just had a dish of vanilla on 6-7-18 and it was disappointing to say the least. There was no rich vanilla flavor and the soft serve had a grainy texture not creamy at all. Since the order was brought home to eat, it ended up in the trash. I hope this is just a one time concern or I will need to find a new soft serve stop. read more

A classic in Hampden, all the residents know about this place and go there at least once per season, almost without exception. Formerly known to the town as Sullivan's (or Sully's/Snappy's), was bought by another group about 10 years back. The quality, unfortunately, took a dive soon after. They tend to employ high school kids who are inattentive and spacey; I've never found the staff to be especially competent. The food is ok; standard burgers and hot dogs, and assorted fried things. FYI, We asked to speak to a Manager several times during our visit and were ignored initially then told that they were busy addressing OTHER customer complaints. There was open dialogue between the customers inside the restaurant regarding the service provided by the one young lady who was attending to all the inside Customers, who seemed more interested in her cell phone then she did in providing good customer service. I don't ever expect things to be perfect, but to me this is a bigger problem than just an off day. And fact that it took weeks for a response to my complaint and no response given to the quality of the food or pricing doesn't inspire me to ever want to give it another chance. Thanks but no Thanks. My Mom grew up down the street from this place and I have been coming here since I was a baby! The crinkle fries are my favorite and the ice cream is always good. We were most recently there the last week they were open for the season. The waitress wasn't the usual girl. She seemed a little frazzled and had way, wayyyyyy too much makeup on. She kept forgetting things and messed up our bill a little bit. Not our best experience there, but not enough to make us stop coming. This place is always so packed, so I was excited to try it. I really wanted to love it, but was very disappointed. The food was average at best. The order taker seemed extremely put out to be taking our order, and kept looking at something out in the parking lot. She then completely messed up our drink order, again seemed put out that she had to fix it, and we still wound up with the wrong sizes but just took them to make it end. Maybe it's different if you're just going there for ice cream. We definitely won't get dinner there again. read more

Great spring and summer drive in. Awesome place to grab ice cream with friends/family and prices are reasonable. Only accepts cash (which can be a downer for those of us who do not commonly carry cash- there is an ATM in the parking lot of the plaza next door). Staffed mainly by high school kids and college students- with a few exceptions they are great! Hours just after school lets out can be a bit overwhelming If you have small kids because the students from local schools congregate here and are not always conscious of their actions or language around small children. read more

Some 18yr old minimum wage girl takes ur order, u pay her, and then go wait, then when it's ready she screams out ur entire order. Service has declined since changing owners. They have 5 girls sitting around doing nothing ignoring customers, you have to get their attention to even be waited on. And when you finally get waited on your order comes out wrong, not once but twice. On a less than busy night attention to orders should be top priority, not flirting with the line cook. I have worked in restaurants for many years, so I understand the stress; however, when there is 1 ticket on the line and no one waiting, mistakes shouldn't happen, especially not 2 times on the same order.
