I was yelled at. Unauthorized work was performed. Price more than doubled from estimate. My car had several lights appear on my instrument panel on July 17, 2018 and I wasn't sure if it was safe to drive, so I called Mountain View Autowerks and spoke with Dustin. We made an appointment for July 18, and he felt it would be safe to drive, so I dropped my car off the evening of the 17th as I was leaving town the next morning. Dustin thought it was going to be a pretty minor repair. I let him know I would be out of town and asked him to leave me a message on my cell phone when he found the problem. I didn't hear from him, except for an email on July 18th: "Your Service History Website From MountainView AutoWerks". I thought that might have been their way of telling me what the problem was, so I attempted to access the account, but nothing was there. I replied to that email asking what was wrong with my car. They did not respond, and they did not call. I was unhappy with the lack of communication. My mother's car broke down as she was trying to take her husband to the Emergency Room on the 18th. She had her car towed to Dustin a short while later - I mention this because at some point she spoke with Mountain View Autowerks about her car, and asked if they had an update on my car because I told her I hadn't heard from them. They told her my repair would be a little over $400. My mother told them she thought it would be ok to go ahead and do the repair. They still should have called me for authorization, thankfully I was fine with my mother's decision. We got a call on Friday (20th) saying both cars were ready, the cost for my repair was now $1,300! My mother was confused and upset by the new price. She explained that her husband had been transported down to a hospital in Mesa and said we would pick the cars up on Monday or Tuesday if that was ok with them. My step father very tragically passed away the next day. I flew back home immediately. I called Dustin to discuss the charges, he argued that he had permission from my mother. I asked him if he had given my mother a written quote for either car, with the new increased charges. He said she verbally approved them. She did verbally approve the lower $400 cost, not the $1,300. Again, they should have called me as I requested before going ahead with any repairs. I offered Dustin some friendly business advice - in the future, especially with someone like my 85-year-old mother, to explain what needs to be done and put it in writing for them to see and then have them authorize in writing. Dustin said that is not the law in AZ as it is in CA. I suggested that he should do it anyway, law or not. I picked up my car on Monday (23rd). When I walked in the office, the woman behind the desk (Dustin's mother in law) was so angry with me that she began to tell me off. She then began yelling at me and refused to take my credit card to process my payment until she had her say. I had to yell back to tell her to stop. I was shaking and in shock by this attack. She wouldn't stop. I reminded her that my step father died just two days before, and I wouldn't stand there and listen to this abuse - she continued. My nerves were shot and she was causing me undue stress. I walked into the garage area and called for Dustin to get her to stop. I was crying and shaking at this point, I handed him my credit card and asked him to process the charges so I could leave. I walked out to the parking lot and waited for Dustin to come back outside. He wanted to wait on the charges and discuss it later, presumably when things calmed down. I did not agree to that, after having been treated so abusively in the office, I knew that I wanted no further dealings with them. Upon reviewing the invoice I discovered that he had performed a tune up, which I had not requested and cost over $500. Dustin finally offered to reduce the bill by $500. I still ended up paying $917.62 which is more than double the original amount. I will say that Dustin was respectful, kind, and calm about it all, he treated us with compassion knowing that we just lost someone very dear to us. His mother in law was nothing short of cruel. I have never been treated in such a hateful and disrespectful manner by someone with whom I was doing business. I was grieving, she knew it, and her verbal attack caused me tremendous undue stress. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. GET IT IN WRITING is the best advice I can offer to those who choose to do business with Mountain View Autowerks. read more

I am Sherry's daughter, and want to respond to this disrespectful, and unacceptable attack on her character. She is 85 years old, grieving, and this response upset her greatly. It appears they think it was I who wrote the review - they should check their customer records before responding so recklessly. Their attack against us "...my guess is you do this to everyone" further shows how unprofessional they are. Here is their response to her, with my comments following. Their "facts" are incorrect. The tone of the response to my mother, in my opinion, is that of Dustin's mother in law, not Dustin. I suspect she is the one who wrote it. Dustin was polite to both of us while we were there, his mother in law was cruel. I'll write about that in my own review later. "Sherry first off you went out of town when your car was towed to us" I was not out of town when my car was towed to them, in fact, I drove my car (it wasn't towed) to them after calling to ask if Dustin thought it would be safe to do so given the fact that there were some lights on my instrument panel that weren't normally lit and I wasn't sure. We talked about the possible problem and he felt it was probably something very minor and safe to drive to his shop. "You then told us to contact your mother on the repairs as you wouldn't be able to talk" That is not true. I told them I was going out of town and asked them to call my cell phone when they knew what was wrong, before doing anything. I said to leave a message on my cell and I would call them back as soon as I was able. "her car the next day got towed to us as it also had broke down" that has nothing to do with my car. "Why did she approve your car bill with no issues at pickup" She did not pick up my car, I did. As for the issues, I'll save that for my own review. "but your writing this review over her car repair when you also were not involved and again she approved the repair on her vehicle and yours !" My mother wrote her review over her car, not mine. She did not write it right away because, as Dustin might remember, her husband passed away while her car was in his shop. Writing her review was not important at the time, nor was it over the next couple of months as she was grieving the devastating loss of her husband. "State all the facts if your going to leave a review ." She did state all the facts in her review about her car. I will state all the facts in my review about my car. "I reduced the bill 500 the amount of the repair your mom supposedly didn't approve which is so false ." My bill was reduced by $500, which was almost the amount of a tune-up they performed on my car without approval. "We are the most honest people inside and outside our business ." I will have to disagree there, given our experience with them. "You Also had another car towed while you were out of town another Shop so my guess is you do this to everyone ." How did they reach this conclusion? Do what, exactly? My mother has gone to another shop since this experience and was very happy with them and left them an excellent review. This is a very unprofessional thing to say. I also wonder exactly how they knew that she took her car elsewhere? That is a bit unsettling. "You don't order a steak medium get it rare , eat it then complain to management !" Well, that's out of left field, I'll let the readers of this decide for themselves what to make of that. "Businesses should beware . And your leaving this review over 2 months later , hmmmmm ." Again, her review was much later as she was mourning the sudden loss of her husband. Mountain View Autowerks earned my trust and business. It was clear on the first visit that I'd found a team with fair pricing, knows their trade, and who goes the extra mile. On my first visit, Dustin, the owner, introduced himself. We were about to put 2800 miles on our vehicle and it was good to get to know who was making sure we were road ready. He fixed what was needed, made a recommendation for another item, and explained about a few things he found that I'd need to keep an eye on. Gina works the front desk and knows the trade as well, which is great! Not only is she cheerful and helpful in scheduling the repairs, she knows where in town to handle any supplemental requirements outside of what the shop handles. We're halfway into the trip now and the vehicle's never run better. Even more so, driving on long stretches of back road and often without cell service, I'm confident that our well maintained vehicle will get my family and I to where we're going. read more

I took my truck here to get the wheel studs replaced after Discount Tire screwed them up. I had an appointment set for 9:30. Within 10 minutes of arriving, Dustin had my truck up on the rack and had me come into the garage to see what needed replaced. All 6 studs were stripped, so he said he was going to locate some new ones as soon as possible. Within 15 minutes a delivery truck showed up with the new studs. Dustin then completed the job quickly thereafter. My truck was finished within one hour of my arrival and I could not have been happier. It is rare these days to find a repair shop where the caring owner is actually working on your vehicle. The front office staff was also very nice and made me a fresh cup of coffee. I recently took my wife's 2004 Suburban to Dustin and asked him to check the front end. The car has over 227,000 miles on it and I thought the steering linkage and ball joints might need to be replaced. I also asked him to check all the rubber hoses and belts under the hood. He is that kind of guy. I wasn't worried he would "find" anything it didn't actually need. Dustin reported the steering was still sound and I did not need to replace any rubber parts. He suggested a steering pump service as the fluid was very low and dirty. He did that for less than $70 dollars and I picked the car up a few hours later, confident that it was in good shape. Made and appointment with Dustin to repair our 2004 T-Bird after taking it to two other shops and nothing being found and told to drive it more, 9650 actual mileage. After taking it to Dustin's shop he called back within a couple of hours stating they had found the problem but would have to order the part and let us know at the earliest opportunity what they found and what they would do. Early Monday morning he called and said it was ready to be picked up. Cost was resonable and car runs as well as when new and no more dying at stop signs or lights and I would recommend this shop for those who feel they are not being listened to by other shops or just want good work at a fair price. Excellent mechanics! Needed difficult work done on my car (timing belt, power steering pump, AC). Dustin was able to take my call on a weekend to discuss what repairs were needed, what could be delayed, and a rough estimate of cost. During the process, he communicated clearly and kept in touch often. He was able to use parts I had previously bought and had on hand without complaint, charged a very fair price, was friendly, and was willing to explain and show me everything that was done in person. Dustin and the whole team are extremely helpful. My Acura was having some issues and needed some work done on the power steering. I feel as though he gave me a very fair price. It then since had some issues and was warrantied out. The whole process was easy for me and I'd definitely recommend taking your car here as not only are they honest, but they give fair prices for the work done. I've never had a bad experience and today I was able to swing by on my lunch break to have him look at the power steering again. The best in the area. Had a alignment done on a "I" beam suspension (pretty difficult) and it turned out fantastic. This truck, F250 , 244000 miles ,was done at another shop in town and was a failure. Constantly waving back and forth and pulling to one side. They said it needed new upper ball joint (six months old) and a pittman arm. Mountain View checked everything before starting work and ALL was found safe and in good condition. I have much confidence in my truck,thanks to these guys and have already passed the word around to my friends. Shop is very well equipped and clean at all times. Hands down the best shop in Prescott valley! very polite and honest! I got my truck from a dealership and I got a warranty. My truck started acting up I took it to the dealer and the were telling me it's gonna be a 2000 dollar job and my warranty didn't cover it. So I took it to Dustin because I was told he's a very good mechanic and honest. And sure enough he was able to tell me the problem that needed to be fixed and was able to get my truck running again. I travel full time & arrived here from Tucson, where I'd noticed my brakes were starting to squeak. Dustin told me he was full, but still managed to work my car in that same day. Called later & told me it had been checked out & I still had at least 50% brake life left. Didn't try to sell me anything & didn't even charge a diagnostic fee(which I fully expected).
