A local told me about this shop close to their home, however their only experience was with an oil change and when it had different management which I didn't find out till after it was too late. I have to say that everything about this shop was unprofessional. My vehicle was in their possession for over a week after the check engine light came on, overheating alert, and the vehicle wouldn't start. They were baffled as to what was wrong. They tried replacing a plastic part and kept me updated up to that point saying they were unable to pinpoint the issue. Finally they called to tell me they CHOSE to change out the starter and attempted to charge me $1,100- this was done without my authorization and without providing me with a quote or options for a starter. When I complained about being blindsided by this I was given this condescending response, "well you wanted your car to run didn't you? I mean we can take it back out and give you back a car that isn't running...". I felt manipulated into going along with he work they had done. After pity from the actual owner, they called me back to offer a discount and they charged me $500. I reluctantly paid for and picked up my car and of course within a couple of days the EXACT same issues occurred and the car wouldn't start. Ultimately, the issue was a frozen engine and I had to take it to another shop to get the full scope, details other finding of the vehicle that Auto Max couldn't figure out over the course of 2 weeks. Later when I called Eric the manager to discuss the matter, he immediately became defensive raising his voice and told me that I wasted their time by bringing my car back to the shop after their attempt at putting in a starter didn't resolve the issue)?! So I guess bringing in a vehicle that is having mechanical issues is beyond their scope of practice and additionally you'll be wasting their time by doing so. I was later told by the local tow truck driver who took my vehicle to a more reputable shop in PV that AUTO MAX in PRESCOTT does TERRIBLE WORK and they've towed many cars from there only to bring them to other more reliable shops. Again, please don't fall into the trap I did! Please take your vehicle somewhere else if you want professional and trustworthy work performed.

Well we got the call before we got the food and the diagnosis, reasonable quote and the news that since it was unfortunately the Friday of MLK weekend the parts wouldn't be available until Tuesday and he'd have it done Wednesday. Troy made no false promises, no bologna just the straight poop. How refreshing! We could see why his shop is rated so high. Unfortunately with a recovering pooch and a long weekend we decided to head back home and risk it. What did Troy do? Not only did they install a new torque converter for me, they fixed an oil leak that I had with the main seal for over 4 years!! Heli coiled my stripped transmission pan bolts! Now my car doesn't leak oil! I am so satisfide with the outcome of this project. Ive had the car back over a month now and I drove it to PHX and back on a light cruise and the car performed fantastically. I try to do all my auto work because of reliability/trust issues with auto shops. Truck needed a…read morefuel pump and the gas tank needs to be dropped to replace. Too much work for me to do. Took truck in to replace a fuel pump. I provided the fuel pump. Took about 3 hours. Once picked up, told me fuel pump works but gauge is reading empty. (this pump is in the tank and there is a lever with a float attached to the pump). Went to the gas station to put in gas and tank would not vent at all. Couldn't fill it. They stated I must have a bad pump. Got a new one under warranty and went to another shop. Found out first shop pinched a wire in the new pump, forgot to attach the float and lever to the new pump, and crushed a vent line with one of the tank support brackets. I guess my reliability / trust issues are valid.

They also performed normal service on my John Deere tractor as well as replaced leaking hydraulic lines. The used filters and lubricants that I supplied. I also supplied the replacement hydraulic line. All work was performed efficiently and in a timely manner. They kept me informed of progress and answered my questions as they worked.
