Don't use Jim's if you need your vehicle back quickly, or if you have multiple things you need…read moredone. Turn times are long and subject to extension without notice. Things get missed and/or botched due to taking in more cars at a time than they can actually handle. Jim's overbooks themselves to the point that they can't even fit all the vehicles in their lot, which leaves the unlucky ones parked on the surrounding street. Requests get forgotten and left undone. Communication is sparse and inconsistent. Pricing is high. There were 2 final straws here in September 2026 which prompted me to write this review. First, Jim's drained the battery on our SUV during a job, called us to come pick the vehicle up, and discovered that it wouldn't start after we arrived. Second, Jim's caused some pretty severe problems with our sedan concerning the tie rods, control arms, and power steering rack by working on those things in the wrong order. Very confused as to how any 5 star reviews exist for this place....other customers must be getting a higher level of competence than I ever did in almost a decade of giving them our business. The fact that they are polite while they screw up your vehicle does not impress me. Never again!

I thought it was a transmission which they ruled out after paying $400 to check it which was fine but when I left there, my bill was $2200 and the noise isn't gone and the problem still there so I don't really know if I would recommend them. I mean they did a bunch of other things that they charge me for which was fine. I guess a bunch of little things but charge me crazy amount for for a part that I saw online for $69 and they charged me 200 and I would recommend looking at invoices for parts that they charge you for and seeing the boxes making sure that they're giving you what they say they are I explain the problem to the guy that answers the phone is there twice I think his name is Paul explained it clearly and by the time the other guy got finished working on the car he said he had no idea what I was talking about so but it's still making that noise and still doesn't want to shift into gear going up the hill so $2200 later and still got the same problem. Well there you have it. Very friendly though. And I was grateful that they didn't tell me my transmission needed to be replaced when it didn't. They could've made a lot more money off me if they hadn't wanted to. and I wouldn't have known the difference, but still don't understand whether the problem isn't resolved.

They replaced the tie rods, and once done they gave me non-traditional quote for rear camdon work without a parts list or labor breakdown of $1,000. If you read the reviews it's clear that this is NOT where you want to bring your vehicle…read more Unfortunately being newer to the area and in a tight bind, led me to bring in my car that wouldn't start. A local told me about this shop close to their home, however their only experience was with an oil change and when it had different management which I didn't find out till after it was too late. I have to say that everything about this shop was unprofessional. My vehicle was in their possession for over a week after the check engine light came on, overheating alert, and the vehicle wouldn't start. They were baffled as to what was wrong. They tried replacing a plastic part and kept me updated up to that point saying they were unable to pinpoint the issue. Finally they called to tell me they CHOSE to change out the starter and attempted to charge me $1,100- this was done without my authorization and without providing me with a quote or options for a starter. When I complained about being blindsided by this I was given this condescending response, "well you wanted your car to run didn't you? I mean we can take it back out and give you back a car that isn't running...". I felt manipulated into going along with he work they had done. After pity from the actual owner, they called me back to offer a discount and they charged me $500. I reluctantly paid for and picked up my car and of course within a couple of days the EXACT same issues occurred and the car wouldn't start. Ultimately, the issue was a frozen engine and I had to take it to another shop to get the full scope, details other finding of the vehicle that Auto Max couldn't figure out over the course of 2 weeks. Later when I called Eric the manager to discuss the matter, he immediately became defensive raising his voice and told me that I wasted their time by bringing my car back to the shop after their attempt at putting in a starter didn't resolve the issue)?! So I guess bringing in a vehicle that is having mechanical issues is beyond their scope of practice and additionally you'll be wasting their time by doing so. I was later told by the local tow truck driver who took my vehicle to a more reputable shop in PV that AUTO MAX in PRESCOTT does TERRIBLE WORK and they've towed many cars from there only to bring them to other more reliable shops. Again, please don't fall into the trap I did! Please take your vehicle somewhere else if you want professional and trustworthy work performed.
