Mountain Treasure is a delightful BandB, five lovely bedrooms in an attractive home with a charming hostess who also prepares wonderful breakfasts. So, what's not to like here? It is located in Maplecrest, a tiny burg close to a larger burg, Windham, in the northern Catskills. And we just spent two very comfortable nights in their Americana room, which offers some nice views of the mountains. Our room was spotlessly clean, the bed felt just right, not too firm, and the shower gave us plenty of hot water. There was a window AC unit, but we didn't need it since the weather turned unexpectedly cool. With the windows opened, we had cooling night air to help us sleep soundly and no outside noises. The breakfasts were delicious, freshly prepared and beginning with some fruit yogurt, then scrambled eggs snd crispy bacon (unless you prefer pancakes). The hostess, a native of Poland, is a good conversationalist and knows a lot about sightseeing in the area. Because the weather was chilly, we didn't visit the expansive yard which includes chairs around a fire pit and an enclosed garden. (Her husband owns a replica 1929 Mercedes, which if you can persuade him to take it out is quite a fun showpiece). Agnieszka with the beautiful blue eyes, we had a very nice stay at your home. We pulled up to the B&B, it has such a beautiful view. The outdoors is where this B&B shines. There's a fire pit with lots of chairs, the owners made the outside for the guests to be comfortable. Except it's December and I don't want to be outside! We're here for one night, I have a tickets to see a jazz show in Woodstock. I don't want to stay at a chain hotel, I enjoy staying at a B&B and like the comforts of a home. Agnes introduces herself, I always like to say to anyone new: we're Bill & Jill from New York! There's a sign in the small kitchen about the owners are Polish. I didn't say anything but in my mind I know there's going to be tasty treats coming my way. Agnes explains there are three breakfast choices, I ask about the Belgian Waffle. Not to worry, it's my grandmother's recipe. Be still my heart.. my wife chose the crepe but we know it's not French. The polish style is a mixture of cheeses, she's asked for it to be less sweet. Breakfast from Mountain Treasure is the treasure! Our room was very comfortable, nice bedding with an electric fireplace. The bathroom was nice, what I look for at any B&B is a shelf to put our toiletries. The supplies were "interesting". I learned to always bring a back up bar. When I take a shower, I like a manly size bar of soap. The size of the soap, it looked like a token I could use at a casino! Agnes, please look into using a more traditional soap. With any B&B, there needs to be a cozy common area. Big chairs, fire in the fireplace and hot coffee / teas. I'm an early riser, it would have been so nice to have a hot cup of coffee at 6am with freshly made paczki. As a kid growing up in Brooklyn, I would have cried if Chrusciki was served throughout the day. The clientele are mostly skiers and I'm sure people have brought in their wet snowy stuff so there's no common area at Treasure Mountain for a guest to get up at 6, pour coffee and sit on a couch. I'm up at 6, my wife can sleep until 8am. I like to sip Java and read for 2 hours. No coffee or relaxing sofa for me at 6am, sigh.. Treasure Mountain, it was a pleasure to say at your Establishment. The place was incredible and the hostess/owner was someone I wish I could adopt. My girlfriend and I went up there for a wedding at nearby Hunter Mountain, and decided to stay at this Bed and Breakfast so we could avoid the crowds (of people we already know.) Our room was awesome. The owner was especially helpful in getting directions to Hunter Mountain, as well as to a local waterfall. The property is gorgeous, and the breakfast hit the spot. read more

We came back to Mountain Treasure Bead and Breakfast in Maplecrest NY after few years. As we arrived we were greeted by a friendly host, I have noticed many positive changes. Our room was renovated and very clean. The host asked about breakfast choice and the breakfast is truthfully amazing! I am again recommending the Mountain Treasure B&B. I picked this place over a Getaway glamping option after the Labor Day weekend and was beyond satisfied about my choice. My husband and I wanted to get away from the city and do some hiking around the area. Mountain Treasure is located in the middle of the Kaaterskill Mountain area, which makes hiking popular trails like Kaaterskill Falls and Blackhead Mountain easy, the latter being about 5 miles down the road. The hostess, Agnes, is very knowledgeable about the areas and an amazing cook. She offers three choices for breakfast every day, and by afternoon, she would make small and delicious treats for her guests. Outside of the BnB is a huge grassy area and a picturesque stream. My husband and I sat by the fire and watched the stars after our excellent hike one day. We love this place and would definitely come back. read more

I adored my stay at Mountain Treasure Inn. The couple who run it are charming and so friendly. Agnas is a heck of a cook, and breakfast was fantastic. Who knew you could find so much perfect fresh fruit and berries in December? The scrambled eggs were perfect, with very crisp bacon, choice of breads, and hot coffee or tea. The room was nicely decorated and extremely comfortable. There is TV in every room, I think, and the bed was perfect. I found the inn extremely clean, with extra efforts taken to keep guests separated and everything disinfected. I am picky about this and I was impressed. Like others, I was surprised at the negative reviews, but I suppose that places like this don't always appeal to city folks (although the other guests were from the city). It's way out in the country, off the beaten path. However, it's just a few minutes from the towns (and ski areas) of Windham and Hunter, with many highly-reviewed restaurants in the area. If you want to be in the middle of the action, do go elsewhere. If you love the country and appreciate a family atmosphere with friendly hosts who are happy to have you, do try it. I lost my wallet in my room and the staff were quick to find it and return it by certified mail. And very friendly about having to crawl on hands and knees and move furniture to find it! read more

I only spent one night here, early in the summer, coming home from a trip to Niagara Falls, but I definitely want to go back and stay longer. The location is gorgeous, right by a beautiful stream where we sat and enjoyed the quiet surroundings and waded in the cool water. We stayed in the Americana room that was quaint but comfortable and had big bright windows. Agnes and her husband were extremely welcoming and friendly. Part of what made the experience great was Agnes' breakfast spread with homemade bread and scrambled eggs perfectly cooked to order. Even her waffles were really good, light but crispy outside and just sweet enough. They haven't been open too long but with this kind of hospitality, they should have many satisfied guests for years to come. I would love to visit again, another season. read more

To preface: This is the review that we posted on AirBnB, as we rented her cottage there. We felt it was necessary to cross-post this review as to give a full review of our experience. Please, I implore you to read her responses to other negative reviews to understand how she interacts with her guests when problems arise. To Agnes directly: Your review about me posted, and I'm truly sorry that we couldn't reach an agreement to stay. We did not look for ways to get out of the contract because it was "bad weather", we just wanted a habitable home to stay in together for the weekend. We stayed in Windham for the entire weekend, rain and all, at a different house that was clean and a host that was willing to work with us. Agnes, and her place, are lacking understanding and disclosure. She refused to work with us on some key issues, asked for our ages upfront, and watched the house while we were staying there. There was mouse poop in the kitchen, the upstairs shower leaked into the living room, the sliding doors do not lock, there is no cell service in the area, and there is no air conditioning in the smaller bedroom. (Note: Opening the doors/windows to cool down that room is not a possibility as the screens on both have holes large enough to allow bugs into the room). She flagged us down for not opening the doors when she had told us to, although it was well over 80 degrees outside with no breeze. Please also note that there is a bed and breakfast in front of the house that shares the yard and guests from there will walk close to the AirBnB. Overall, we were wildly taken aback with how she handled the situation and was not willing to work with us to make the place livable -- instead, we were asked to leave with less than two hours notice (and a fridge full of food) and were held to the check out time while struggling to find another place to stay (with no cell service/directions). We were extremely uncomfortable staying there and how entire situation we faced afterwards unfolded, and are baffled by how she is labeled a superhost. If any others staying at her place find themselves in the same scenario, the Dollar General in Tannersville has minimal cell service, but has wifi, water, and nice hosts. read more

I'm not quite sure if the prior reviews are authentic because the location of this B and B looks like something out of horror movie.... And I'm not sure who writes a review but has zero friends or only one review.. Very questionable. There is no cellular service in the area, and I have Verizon, so it's clearly not my provider.... Can you hear me now? But in all seriousness, there is nothing in the area. No where to grab a bite, drink, or even interact with any other human beings. The only store was a ways down the road and the town looked condemned. It's not ski season yet but I can't imagine it would be bumping in a couple months. I've tried calling and there is no answer and the voicemail doesn't have the name of the establishment. So either these guys are out of business or they have poor business management skills. Definitely won't be heading here ever again. Don't waste your gas driving. read more

We spent one night at the Mountain Treasure Bed and Breakfast and will definitely be back! The rooms were all very well pulled together with their theme and design, and thankfully didn't have the typical Victorian b&b feel. The owner, Agnes, greeted us when we arrived and made us feel welcome right away! She was knowledgeable about the area, places to eat, and discounts for renting snowboard equipment and lift tickets. The property was beautiful and quiet. Her breakfast offered variety, lots of flavor and was very filling for a long day on the slopes. I'm looking forward to returning soon. read more

If you spend ALL of your time in Brooklyn and Hoboken, perhaps this charming B&B in the heart of the beautiful Catskill mountains is not for you. If you prefer someplace "bumping" perhaps you should check out the town of Hunter during the season, aprés-ski. My wife and I came to the Catskills for the Dutchess County Fair (another five-star experience!) and to tour the small towns and beautiful scenery. We had intended to stay near the fairgrounds, but the decent hotels were booked. So, after reading the wonderful reviews, we decided to travel further afield and explore the comfort and privacy offered by this charming bed and breakfast. We were not disappointed. As first-time bed-and-breakfast guests (generally we prefer anonymous, big chain hotels) we were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful, outstanding service provided by Agnes, our host at Mountain Treasure B&B. The premises, including our room and private bathroom, were pristine. Our room was private, quiet, and comfortable, as if we stayed at a good friend's house. The decor included a charming assortment of knick-knacks and furnishings. Breakfast on both days was delicious, and included eggs, crepes, waffle, and fresh fruit and veggies from the garden. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway this is NOT the place for you! I've never stayed in a place where I completely felt disgusted by how dirty it was. I didn't want to seat, sleep, nor touch anything. I felt very uncomfortable specially given we are in a pandemic. Bedding is very old and stained, toilet paper is the cheapest possible, sink sponge very dirty and old, dusts on everything, and sofa is even stained. The owner is extremely rude and unprofessional. When you stay at a cottage you expect a certain level of hospitality that comes from a small-town feel, not this place. Owner made us feel very uncomfortable. She made very rude comments to my friend, which completely ruined our gateway. Additionally, you don't have the view of the mountains. They are better places with better views. The TV only has one channel - Fox news. There is an old broken van parked next to the cottage. Felt like I was in a hunted house. I stayed up all night thinking they are ghosts around. Maybe she is going for the hunted house look. Her attitude is definitely befitting! Do yourself a favor and stay away! read more

I booked this room last minute my boyfriend and I not big on b& b so we gave it a shot the location was good close to Hunter mountain that's a plus the rate was moderate price the house and rooms were clean and tidy little small tho nice decor the owner was polite and accommodating but I had one problem with our stay so next morning I woke up went down stairs she greets me with a smile :) n good morning which I found sweet she ask me if I was ready for breakfast I reply no not yet I like to wait until my boyfriend wakes up but he over slept when we went down stairs together little pass breakfast time she said I'm sorry with an attitude you miss breakfast I reply that's fine no problem Ill just grab coffee n fruit she said I'll make u crepes with unfriendly tone then she said but I'm not making him eggs I told her no worries so her whole attitude change she grab her fur ball cat went into kitchen wip up some breakfast for us which was very nice we appreciate that thank you Agnes but when i got my microwave crepes and took two bits i saw a cat hair in my food so I immediately drop my fork and was totally turn off between her attitude and hair In my food was gross So I felt uncomfortable and we left little before check out and drove Home sweet home. read more

We only stayed over for one night - I wish we could have spent more time in the area. A little hard to find as a road was closed and there was a detour in place. I would have appreciated an email update about that because I was a little concerned that we would not find it. Agnes came out and greeted us and was very friendly. She wanted to know what we wanted to do so she could recommend places. She recommended a few restaurants and Highland Loop (which was a great walk). I'd never been to a B&B before and found it a little off putting being in a person's house (but I should have known that going in); almost felt like we needed to be extra quiet not that Agnes gave us that impression just something I felt. The room was the Fiddler room and nice. I liked the decor and the blanket on the bed. There was a light right next to the bed that I kept bumping into with my arm but everything else was great. Nice television, plenty of electrical sockets and the shower was great. The breakfast was really nice. Home-made crepes and flax milk (which we are now addicted to). Loved the gothic decor too. If you like B&Bs then this is the one to stay in if in the area! read more

My husband and I stayed at Mountain Treasure after a day of hiking at North-South Lake. We stayed in the blue room (I did snoop a bit and I think this was the sweetest room, but they are all pretty!) - Agnes the owner was very sweet and gave us the run down on all the things to do nearby and where to eat, and in the morning she prepared bacon and eggs for us, and put out a very nice brekkie spread. The weather was still nice so I sat outside and drank my coffee on the deck which is beautifully landscaped, and there is a creek but I didn't get a chance to see it. The bathroom was SUPER CLEAN, and the shower pressure really good considering we were in the countryside. Just a note, there is no cellular service ANYWHERE in the area from Mount Tremper to Maplecrest - my husband has sprint, and i have ATT, nothing. It's the area not the hotel.
