This place was a bit of a shock. For most of remote West Virginia restaurants mostly server the…read moresame boring Sysco or Gordon Foods...same hamburgers and wings and fried fish...they don't even try to hide the fact that it's not scratch made. So to actually find an authentic restaurant with good food in Durbin, WV of all places...I am still shocked by this meal. And the food cost is on par for the area. If you put this restaurant in Charleston with the same menu, it would be double to triple the prices. So not only is it good, it's inexpensive! The one thing I would have changed was my wing order...I had no idea each of these was battered in KFC like batter and deep fried. I'm fine with fried wings but I like them naked...not sure if that's an option but that's how I'd order them next time. Don't get me wrong...these were really really good...but the batter made them a huge huge meal instead of just a nice keto and protein option. I couldn't really taste the sauce, normally wings like this are swimming, so I had to ask for more and I believe it's homemade as well. My girlfriend got the steak salad and even the steak was different. They made the dressing in the restaurant and it was freaking fantastic. I didn't try it until I was done with my wings but if I had, I would have dipped my wings in this sweet honey flavored dressing. One of the boys got the seafood boil which was on special. He freaking loved it and couldn't eat it all. Of course he ate all of the shrimp and crab legs first. It was a really good price, cheaper than what you'd pay at the beach! The other boy got grilled chicken and corn and also didn't finish. I need to train these teens how to eat like a man. Service was great. We had two servers because she was training a new girl. There might have only been three in the entire restaurant but we were early enough that it wasn't crowded. Bar area was huge and stocked well. They even had Ole Smoky Moonshine which I've never seen in a bar. I really loved the map on the wall with photos of the historic towns. I've been to Wildell many times but haven't really seen many photos of it. Only one house remains there. There is nothing left of the town of Burner. We will definitely be riding the side by side down to eat here in the future. We got lucky and saw the diesel locomotive return with the castaway cabooses just before we had dinner.

I know a lot of places serve honey dipped chicken but this was excellent!! My son ordered the "Early Riser" which was country fried steak with a fried egg on top, American cheese, BBQ sauce etc on a kaiser bun. Said it was Delicious.. Place was nice and clean and the service was very good. We'll be back!

I wouldn't give it 4 stars in a more competitive area, but I've tried most things on the menu, they are consistently good, and they are the best choice I have found down here, by far. I hear the restaurant at Cass is good too, but I've not tried it yet. The best choices t Station 2 are their burgers and home style meals, They offer pizza, but I don't recommend it. I have had the pork chops and honey chicken dinner, and they will both remind you of good home cooking. The burgers are hand made patties, not frozen ones out of a box. The staff and owner, Buster, are all very friendly and great people. If you are driving through to or from Snowshoe, Greenbank Observatory, or any of the railroad attractions in the area, this is a great food stop.

This is a cool little restaurant in this very small town. Most of the storefronts are sadly empty,…read morebut this little gem is still here! After riding the Durbin Rocket we headed here for lunch! The restaurant is old and dated but it has history which is cool too, and the entrance was a little weird! You walked thru a beauty salon to reach the restaurant, but once inside the food made up for the strange entrance. I ordered the fiery double burger, and this thing was a monster for sure! At least a half a pound of burger with three pieces of bread. It reminded me of a super sized Bic Mac with a similar sauce like Big Mac. I do not like Big Mac sauce much, so next time I will order without sauce. The burger was cooked to order, and no pre done burgers laying around. The meal can with chips, and for $7.95 it was well worth it. Next we had dessert and everything was homemade. The pie serving was large and very fresh. Highly recommend trying the dessert! I recommend this place for sure and hope to return in the future

Foxfire Grill - Snowshoe, WV…read more Visited in August with family and our dog while in Snowshoe, WV. Foxfire has a dog-friendly outdoor patio, which was a big plus. The setting is lovely -- Snowshoe Plaza had a car show that day, and the surrounding area is worth exploring. In winter this is a ski hub, but in summer it's still a great spot to visit. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, and the food took at least 30 minutes to arrive. I ordered the full rack of baby back ribs with baked beans and sweet potato fries (sharing with someone else). The good: The baked beans were fantastic, and the sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. Most of the food tasted great overall. The bad: The ribs were completely blackened and burnt throughout -- not just a little char, but fully charred. I've attached a photo for reference. Burnt food not only ruins the flavor, but it's a sign of poor execution and attention to detail, and over time it can be unhealthy. Overall, the location is great, the service was decent, and most of the food was solid. Unfortunately, the ribs knocked this experience down for me -- enough to take off two stars. Hopefully next time the kitchen cleans up their act. Rating: (3/5) Last visited: August 2025
