Great service and food was phenomenal! Solid place to go after getting off the slopes.

Where do I begin? First of all, the price is outrageous probably because it's one of the only places like this around here. As a tourist, I came unprepared and hungry late at night, not knowing exactly what I was getting. I thought I saw chips on the menu, but instead it turned out to be a whole lot of potatoes. I don't mind potatoes, I guess, but the plate came with only five small pieces of chicken. For the price, it just didn't feel worth it. FOR $18

Would rate this a 4.5/5. Food is about a 4 and service 5. Hawg Ribs was nothing special but tasty. Service was very fast(a plus!), servers were friendly and food came quick. Would definitely come here again

Not a great experience. Ordered Chipotle chicken burger with fries, Mediterranean pizza and hummus with veggies and pita bread. I must say none of them tasted good. The chicken in the burger was grilled but so hard that I cannot bite. The Mediterranean pizza was made in a very thin tortilla instead of a bread which made it difficult to take a whole bite and the pita bread in hummus was very crispy like flour chips when it is suppose to be soft and chewable. Except the food, everything else was okay be it service or ambience.

As a vegetarian, I wouldn't recommend this place. Though they have a separate section for vegetarians with 3 dishes but they don't satisfy your needs for a meal. My order: Veggie Mediterranean pizza Pita - Hummus The bread/pita for the pizza was soft and soggy with the toppings and it's a super thin crust with weird combinations of vegetables. The pita was super baked soft and loved that and the hummus was good. Still the dishes weren't enough for a meal and super expensive for each of those dishes. Nah, I won't return!

This was our favorite dining spot on the mountain for sure. The portions were huge and everything was flavorful and delicious. I got the pork shank with mashed potatoes instead of the corn pudding. The shank was massive and fall off the bone tender, seasoned very well. The cornbread muffin was moist and delicious, and the mashed potatoes were soft and creamy. I also got a B52 but subbed hot chocolate for the coffee and loved it, they put a lot of liquor in it. Will be back next time I'm at Snowshoe!

Came here for dinner on a Saturday around 7 pm in early December after skiing. Really nice atmosphere with festive decorations. It was in the little village so we were able to park across in the village parking lot. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for a group of 8, which was a lot shorter than we thought. Waiter was nice and attentive. They didn't have the first thing that I tried to order which was sad so I got the pulled pork sandwich instead. I ordered a warm drink that I thought was pretty good. They had lots of different barbecue sauces to choose from. The sandwich came with a lot of meat which was good but a little watery. I upgraded by side to mac and cheese which was really cheesy and delicious. I thought the meal was reasonably priced for ~$16 for the sandwich. It was filling and a nice experience.

Service was great, we were there on a Thursday and there wasn't any wait. It is definitely a cozy mountain restaurant that is good for groups and kids. While our food choices were tasty I can't really complain but definitely "mountain pricing" for the level of food. Adding in some recent photos of menus as the prices from the old ones have definitely increased.

Average food. Good service . Very nice ambiance. My only complaint is that the cooks don't wear beard guards yet all the cooks have beards.

Outstanding farm-to-table dining in Snowshoe…read more For anyone visiting Snowshoe Mountain and hoping to find a truly elevated dining experience, Appalachia Kitchen stands apart. The concept is simple but well executed: locally sourced Appalachian ingredients, seasonal menus, and careful preparation. In an area where "upscale" dining often leans heavily on pricing instead of execution, Appalachia Kitchen focuses on what actually matters--quality, balance, and consistency. Highlights included: * A perfectly cooked filet paired with root vegetables and a rich, restrained sauce * Thoughtful plating without unnecessary theatrics * A wine list that complements the menu instead of competing with it * Attentive service that feels professional but relaxed One standout moment: the staff happily accommodated a custom French press paired with vanilla gelato and chocolate chips--a small detail, but one that shows how much pride they take in the guest experience. Snowshoe attracts visitors from across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, and for many, this will be the memorable meal of their trip. If you're deciding where to spend your money for a special dinner, this is the restaurant that delivers on both quality and value. Appalachia Kitchen sets the benchmark for what higher-end dining in Snowshoe should be.

"Whiskey, Wings, and Pool Sharks: A Local Survival Guide"…read more If you find yourself in Elkins craving good food, cold drinks, and a side of character, roll on down to Whiskey River. The place is pure West Virginia charm with just the right mix of country grit and friendly mischief. The food? Fantastic. The wings are sauced like somebody back there actually cares, and the burgers taste like they've seen a grill before, not a microwave. But be warned: the real action happens at the pool tables. You might think, "I'll shoot a quick game while I wait on my fries." Next thing you know, you're three games deep against a guy named Buck who swears he's "rusty" but just ran the table faster than you can say cue ball. That's when you realize the fries were ready 20 minutes ago -- and you've just been hustled out of your dignity (and maybe a round of shots). Pro tip: If someone offers to "let you break," kindly decline and protect your pride. Order another beer, tip the bartender, and enjoy the show -- because watching the locals play pool here is better entertainment than half the stuff on TV. Whiskey River is one of those rare places where the food's hot, the folks are real, and the laughter's louder than the jukebox. Just remember: eat first, then play pool. You'll thank me later.
