Setting: Located at Snowshoe this was one of the food establishments that we kept coming back to. The restaurant is located next to the pizzeria. Climbing up rickety stairs lands you in a nice open restaurant with good views. Plenty of TV's. The parking situation is atrocious. There is not parking lot or spaces, and everything is reserved for people staying at the nearby residences. Service: Service was Ok. Often times the waiters / waitresses are on there own covering the entire dinning room. They where accommodating to families with children. The time for ordering to receiving food sometimes took a while even when the restaurant wasn't busy. Food: The food was better than average and definitely some of the better food we had in snowshoe. Therefore we did come back twice. The chili was tasty and the salads where large (but chicken was flavorless and tough) . Pizza was pretty good too. We enjoyed the loaded French fries with cheese and meat.

Tuque's is one of the best restaurants in Snowshoe may have had the best burger and fries there in my entire life! The waiter said the fries are cooked in peanut oil which must make a difference. I thought it strange they curtly replied "we don't do custom temperatures" when I had asked for medium but guess that is a standard response for liability reasons. My friend liked their fried chicken sandwhich and the hot toddy is a must try!

Spent last weekend in Snowshoe, and ate numerous times at Tuques during our stay. By far our favorite spot on the mountain! Atmosphere has a great vibe, the staff is awesome, and the food and drinks are fabulous! The fan favorite was the poutine (ordered it every time we were there). Burgers and poached pear salad were delish. You can also order a pizza or two off the menu from the Pizza Slice downstairs. Highly recommend the prosciutto arugula and the margherita pizzas! We'll definitely be back!

We ate here twice this week while in town for the UCI Downhill Competition. Below are the Highs/Lows: Highs- Our waitress, Journey was a doll. She was so nice and attentive. She was kind and engaging. Unfortunately for her, this was her first week and she had little to no support and was thrown into the deep end during one of their busiest times of the year. Lows- (this list is quite a bit longer) Ordered a $70 bottle of Bordeaux, waited for 30 minutes for it to show up even though I asked about it twice. When it did show up, it was the wrong bottle of wine. My friend had to 20 minutes for his Manhattan and was rudely told to go back to my seat when he asked if he could take it from the bar back to my table. Me and my friend both ordered filet mignon. Mine was medium and cooked ok (although it was cooked more on one wide than the other) his was supposed to be medium rare. I looked like he was performing open-heart surgery when he cut into it. It was disgusting. Our carrots were cold my risotto had literally no flavor. It tasted like cold oatmeal. Both of our sons ordered the trout plate with pecans and potatoes but instead received fried fish sandwiches with french fries. Pretty bad experience for a $400 dinner

Everytime we visit Snowshoe, we have to come to Tuque's a couple times! We have always enjoyed the service from the staff, especially Pat and Brandon & now Heather. Tuque's was the first place we visited when we came here for the first time for lunch. Cheers !

Great burgers and service. Unfortunately, that is all they had. Very pricey but it was one of the only restaurants open. Would go back just for the hospitality.

Tuque's was my favorite adult spot in the village. The service was top-notch, the drinks were great and the food was delicious. The music in the evening was great and gave you a bar feel. The dining room closes earlier than the bar does, so make sure to get there before 930 to place food orders and last call for drinks is 10:30. Tuque's is the bar that is open the latest in the village that I'm aware of. The hot toddy was fantastic!!! The carnivore pizza was delicious, and the pork belly bao buns were probably my favorite.

How is the tv situation outside of being in the bar area? Wanting to watch a ball game there soon but wasn't sure if we'd be able to see tvs via regular seating.

We decided to sit at the bar because we weren't planning to be there too long and the game was on. We just ordered two appetizers: the Hangover Fries (5/10) and the Scoreboard Nachos (8/10). The fries really didn't taste like much honestly, but the nachos were actually pretty decent. The beef was seasoned well. This place isn't too bad overall, only so many options for dining provided on the actual mountain/slope side. I prob wouldn't go back here if I'm ever at Snowshoe mountain again; will just try one of the other dining spots. My overall rate of experience : 6/10

However, the portion was crazy small and was $10. Second, my youngest got Cesar salad with chicken and my wife said the chicken tasted as if it had been precooked and reheated slightly in the microwave. Last, my oldest is picky so she asked for the nacho but with just the cheese and everything on the side and no pico. Yet, it comes out with a pile of pico on the top. Also, as I'm trying to scrap off the pico the waitress said nothing about the mistake. So, if you want meh/crap food and spend $100 for 3 meals go to the locker room. SMH.

"Whiskey, Wings, and Pool Sharks: A Local Survival Guide"…read more If you find yourself in Elkins craving good food, cold drinks, and a side of character, roll on down to Whiskey River. The place is pure West Virginia charm with just the right mix of country grit and friendly mischief. The food? Fantastic. The wings are sauced like somebody back there actually cares, and the burgers taste like they've seen a grill before, not a microwave. But be warned: the real action happens at the pool tables. You might think, "I'll shoot a quick game while I wait on my fries." Next thing you know, you're three games deep against a guy named Buck who swears he's "rusty" but just ran the table faster than you can say cue ball. That's when you realize the fries were ready 20 minutes ago -- and you've just been hustled out of your dignity (and maybe a round of shots). Pro tip: If someone offers to "let you break," kindly decline and protect your pride. Order another beer, tip the bartender, and enjoy the show -- because watching the locals play pool here is better entertainment than half the stuff on TV. Whiskey River is one of those rare places where the food's hot, the folks are real, and the laughter's louder than the jukebox. Just remember: eat first, then play pool. You'll thank me later.

Outstanding farm-to-table dining in Snowshoe…read more For anyone visiting Snowshoe Mountain and hoping to find a truly elevated dining experience, Appalachia Kitchen stands apart. The concept is simple but well executed: locally sourced Appalachian ingredients, seasonal menus, and careful preparation. In an area where "upscale" dining often leans heavily on pricing instead of execution, Appalachia Kitchen focuses on what actually matters--quality, balance, and consistency. Highlights included: * A perfectly cooked filet paired with root vegetables and a rich, restrained sauce * Thoughtful plating without unnecessary theatrics * A wine list that complements the menu instead of competing with it * Attentive service that feels professional but relaxed One standout moment: the staff happily accommodated a custom French press paired with vanilla gelato and chocolate chips--a small detail, but one that shows how much pride they take in the guest experience. Snowshoe attracts visitors from across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, and for many, this will be the memorable meal of their trip. If you're deciding where to spend your money for a special dinner, this is the restaurant that delivers on both quality and value. Appalachia Kitchen sets the benchmark for what higher-end dining in Snowshoe should be.

Foxfire Grill - Snowshoe, WV…read more Visited in August with family and our dog while in Snowshoe, WV. Foxfire has a dog-friendly outdoor patio, which was a big plus. The setting is lovely -- Snowshoe Plaza had a car show that day, and the surrounding area is worth exploring. In winter this is a ski hub, but in summer it's still a great spot to visit. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, and the food took at least 30 minutes to arrive. I ordered the full rack of baby back ribs with baked beans and sweet potato fries (sharing with someone else). The good: The baked beans were fantastic, and the sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. Most of the food tasted great overall. The bad: The ribs were completely blackened and burnt throughout -- not just a little char, but fully charred. I've attached a photo for reference. Burnt food not only ruins the flavor, but it's a sign of poor execution and attention to detail, and over time it can be unhealthy. Overall, the location is great, the service was decent, and most of the food was solid. Unfortunately, the ribs knocked this experience down for me -- enough to take off two stars. Hopefully next time the kitchen cleans up their act. Rating: (3/5) Last visited: August 2025
