Called and was told it was too late to make another one, but I was offered a "percentage off the next one". That was incredibly insulting. There's no Mountain Mike's in LA county so during a recent visit to the Peninsula I had to return to an old favorite from a decade ago. $10.95 for pizza, salad bar and a drink is an awesome value and most importantly the pizza and pasta salads are hella delicious. We ordered a large Pikes Peak (Italian sausage, pepperoni, beef, salami, linguica, ham, classic red sauce) and received a large 1-topping pizza for free with yelp check-in. My husband and I came here over the summer for their lunch special. Not bad! For around $9 a person you get all you can eat pizza, salad, and a drink. For the last few months, I came to this store and I was able to use the deal and coupon from YELP which is 50% off the large pizza if I bought two. I used it for a few times already. However, I've been here twice already where I ordered multiple pizzas for pick up and somehow, they gave someone else my order and had to re-make my pizzas. They kept telling me it would take 5 mins when in actuality it took 20 each time. It might help if someone wrote on the outside of the box what pizza is in there and/or tape an order ticket or something on the pizzas so you don't give the wrong pizzas to the wrong customer. Both of our kids' AYSO teams had their end-of-season celebrations here last Wednesday, so we were here for almost three hours. It was easy to book some of the open space ahead of time. They had the pizza buffet dinner, which features a large selection of different pizzas fresh out of the oven as well as a salad bar. Somehow the kids ended up sitting on the other side of the restaurant, so all the parents had a good time chatting. The salad bar is pretty standard, and the pizza is good, with lots of toppings. The buffet slices aren't too big so they don't get soggy and you can sample a few different pizzas without getting too full. There are some really old arcade games. With so many pizza places in San Carlos, you would think Mountain Mikes would try and complete but no. The pizza was just ok. They didn't skimp on toppings! The crust was lacking something. Maybe it needed more salt or it needed some diastatic malt powder. Not sure what it was but it was missing something. I also think their crust could have benefited from a crispy bottom. A little more oil in the pan and a slightly higher temp may have produced a perfectly cooked (for me anyway) crust. I will try it again when I am in town again and see if it was just a mediocre day. Very impressed with their customer service, on time delivery, fantastic deals online and delicious pizza! I went in to the store to place an order ahead a few days prior. As I needed to have pizzas delivered to a party earlier than their scheduled open time, thought it would be a good idea to go in person with my request. An extremely nice and patient employee (Christian) assisted me. He answered all my questions, placed my order and reassured me that the order will be delivered on time. On the day of the event, the pizza was super fresh and arrived exactly on time. Noticed other reviews mentioned a 10% living wage fee. This fee is indeed on the bill but they were up front with me when I asked if tip was included. I would have tipped anyways so just adjusted accordingly. One minor "complain" is I used a buy one get one free deal and the free pizza applied to the cheapest pizzas even though I had multiple premium priced pizzas, the free deal applied to the cheapest pizzas. I understand that the deal is of equal or less value but if I had placed multiple separate orders it would have been better optimized. I decided to try out Mountain Mike's Pizza a couple of days ago as I wanted something better that the run of the mill stuff that you get from chain stores like Papa John's, Dominos or Pizza Hut. This Mountain Mike's is located on El Camino Real with plenty of street parking right outside the restaurant. At the peak lunch hour the huge place was completely empty save for one person. The menu is to the right of the ordering station and seems to cramp a lot of information in a small place, so if you don't know what you want before hand it would be very difficult for you to get your order right just looking at the menu board. Anyway I hurriedly settled on a large BQQ Bacon Cheeseburger ($24.95) and a large Garlic Chicken Combo ($24.95). The price looked a little steep for a large pizza but still it's just about 15% more than the regular list price of a large pizza from say Papa John's. In about 10 minutes both the pizza's were ready and I was on my way. My first impression was that both the pizza's were huge. I mean one of these can easily feed an entire family of 4 for lunch when pared with a light salad and drink. The second impression was that both were white sauce based selections. It would be good if the menu highlighted the white v/s red pizza's a little better so that a more suitable selection could be made. Anyway the good news is that they were made really well. They were toasted with perfect amount of crunch to hold the heavy sauce and toppings. No complaints. I really liked the Garlic Chicken Combo but was not a fan of the BBQ Cheeseburger as it's BBQ sauce lacked punch and beef meatballs were bland and under-cooked. Overall I feel that these guys do decent pizza's for the price so I will keep coming back periodically. I would rate this as a 3.5 stars that I'm rounding up to a 4. read more

As a former customer, I receive emails from this Mountain Mike's with offers and coupons. I noticed the fine print at the bottom of their deal today: "10% LIVING WAGE FEE ADDED TO ALL ORDER SUBTOTALS." DO NOT VISIT THIS RESTAURANT! They are using modest minimum wage increases as a profit scam. Sales are far greater than wage expenses. Soaking us by tacking on 10% is tacky. It also demonstrates a contempt the business has for its workers. Customers will reduce tips because of this. If they really hurt for money because of increased wages, they should just raise prices slightly. And NOT blame it on the need to pay their workers fairly. read more
