BOM roll & Arizona roll
Yoojin S.

We had some Resy credits to use and was so glad that this place was on Resy! Pretty tasty rolls. It was a good meal! ARIZONA ROLL Spicy hamachi inside and fresh hamachi on top. The hamachi was good quality and appreciated some thick slices. BOM ROLL Tuna, yellowtail, salmon, eel, tobiko with sweet sauce. Loved that this had fresh thick chunks of fish. Service was nice and fast. Lots of families too.

Combo A2 30. Katsudon Crazy Roll (8 pcs) Hamachi Kama (2 pcs)

Came here to use AMEX resy points and for a free meal DELICIOUS It was poppin off in the restaurant. We ended up ordering to go on a Friday night. We did have to drive a bit far (45 min) to eat so maybe it effected the food a bit because it was kinda mid. BUT eatin at the restaurant everyone looked happy and food looked reallly good. It is a small restaurant and there was a line out the door. Service was friendly and fast Katsudon-- a little dry in some parts of it Crazy roll- would get again Hamachi Kama- def from frozen, a little dry A2 beef teriyaki and tempura-- beef sweet and good, tempura mooshy from sitting but bread to veg ratio is perf Lots of potential would come back and try again!

Lion King (8 pcs)

Discovered Sushi Monster when looking at eligible restaurants on Resy to satisfy a cc point deal. Made the reservation the night before with no issues. We ordered: large sake 2 sapporos agedashi tofu - good rainbow roll - fresh tasting fish, lion king - not bad, but didn't love their version of a lion king. The jalapeño flavor also caught me by surprise. dinner combo w/ salmon teriyaki, tempura (comes w/ miso soup). Salmon portion was a good size. Tempura was assorted and crispy. Solid cozy sushi spot with quality fish. Servers were all really friendly and personable. Would come back if in the area.

Ordered to go online. They were quick and easy to pick up. The sushi and fish tasted pretty fresh! A little on the pricier side however. agedashi tofu 4/5 Tasty and delicious. Had a ton of bonito flakes on top as well Amaebi 4/5 Great price for 2 pieces of amaebi. Tastes good but could've been sweeter. Love that they include the fried heads! Wish the heads were fried even more though cause the shell was a little hard to chew. Hamachi Kama 2/5 Super dry and hard to eat. Does come with grated daikon though. Arizona roll 5/5 Loved this roll. The hamachi was fresh and all the components blended well into one bite. Absolutely would get it again Rock n roll 4/5 Standard eel roll. Delicious Monster sushi deluxe 4/5 The nigiri tastes fresh and I enjoyed all the pieces. The ca roll wasn't overly mayonnaisey and it was a good amount of sushi for the price. Overall, I'm definitely coming back. Good fresh sushi and an ok price. Doesn't hurt that they are on resy as well!

8 piece nigiri + 2 additional pieces

All the items on the menu are pretty pricey, but I am in Belmont so there's that. I ordered the Nabe Udon and it was small and very basic. Not much ingredients put it for it being $22. I also ordered the 8-piece assorted nigiri for $22 and the fish was fresh and nicely portioned. Made the visit when I needed to use up my resy credits. Ordered two items and already went over $50, and not even close to being full. Is it worth? Not really, but I will focus on the sashimi next time I need to utilize my Resy credits.

$19.99 Rainbow Roll 7 pcs: eel, crab, avocado, seeds, & sauce wrapped w/ mixed tuna, yellowtail, salmon, halibut, & tobiko

found this Korean-owned Japanese restaurant on AMEX's Resy credits list and came in on Monday evening of holiday week after Christmas to spend the credit card benefit before EOY. made a reso online for 2 ppl at 6:30p, it was PACKED when we arrived -- probably filled with many other diners with the same CC benefits, lol! took awhile to get seated at the bar; they were very busy and the staff very polite, apologetic and prompt as soon as they could get to us. What we ordered: $36.99 Sushi & Sashimi Combination 3 pcs CA roll, chef's choice of 5 pcs nigiri & sashimi (served w 1 miso soup) -- we asked that any tuna be replaced with red snapper, so we were served salmon, hamachi, red snapper, ebi, unagi. $12.99 Philadelphia Roll 6 pcs: smoked sake, avocado, & cream cheese $14.99 Jumangi 6 pcs: eel, scallops, nuts, green onion, sauce, & seeds $19.99 Rainbow Roll 7 pcs: eel, crab, avocado, seeds, & sauce wrapped w/ mixed tuna, yellowtail, salmon, halibut, & tobiko $1.99 pot of hot tea there's only 1 bathroom in the in the back of the restaurant and it's tiny; you have to walk through the rear section and past the kitchen, which might be difficult if you have elderly guests or babies who will require a diaper change during your meal. it was pricey for the portion size (typical for upper middle class suburbs) and the sushi rolling skills were a bit messy, but the fish was fresh and tasted good anyway. overall, we enjoyed our dinner catch-up, but there are many other similar places in the area for better value, so this probably won't be a repeat visit. appreciated how nice and hardworking all the staff was, and hope their business succeeds.

Sushi monster offers great sushi but also the most wonderful servers! I had such a fun dinning experience here and our server was a blast. She was joking with us with every interaction, recommended her favorite saki and ensured our sushi was both delicious and beautifully presented. They have an extensive sushi menu with lots of cute and creative rolls. I thought the Victoria secret one was hilarious. I don't actually eat fish, so I had the avocado rolls which were amazing as well as the edamame which was salted to perfection. The inside doesn't look like much, but I found the ambiance to be cozy and comfortable. It wasn't crowded when I came in, but clearly seemed to be a local favorite. I can't wait to try more sushi here!

Alex G.

good experience nice staff. My daughter loved the kids meal shrimp tempura. the edamame could use more salt but we enjoyed it. ambiance is casual and it's a small restaurant with extra parking in the back.

Caterpillar roll and Godzilla roll. Fried squid tentacles on right side.

Sushi monster is a happy place !! Parking is easy and not too terrible to get to from Daly City. The food here is excellent, fresh and filling. Two of the signature rolls are Godzilla and the caterpillar roll. Didn't quite look like the picture on the menu. But tasted excellent for the ingredients speak for themselves. We also had the fried squid tentacles. Hot and tasty. The Victoria secret roll took additional time 20 minutes more but our waitress told us when we ordered. This roll sounded good but , came out not too tasty. Service was on point. Hot tea to start and refilled when pot was empty. The staff also came around asking if everything was okay. Nice touch.

Today I was able to meet my friend here for lunch and since it was a weekday we got a table right away at noon. To our pleasant surprise there was a lunch special offered at the back of the menu. For $17 you can a item from column A then B. I went with teriyaki beef (+1) and gyoza. The lunch special came with rice, tea and miso soup. I order the yuzu drink too. Everything was so yummy! The decor is cute with many lucky cats near the entrance and around the sushi bar. Near the back there is a huge display kawaii, anime and robotech figures. I can see kids enjoying looking at them. Looks like they have a private room option that is narrow and long with many 2 seater table side by side, maybe they open it up when they get busy. They have a parking lot that can exit through the back is what my friend told me but I found street which has a 2 hour limit. I saw a car with a parking ticket so I'm guessing they do enforce it. The bento box comes with rice, salad, and miso soup. Everything was good. The sushi was fresh and tender, and they gave me cooked shrimp, salmon, and 3 that I couldn't identify. The salad was good, too, with a creamy dressing that maybe had some sesame paste in it. The amount of dressing was about right, maybe just a touch more than ideal for me, but they were pretty light-handed with it overall. The miso soup and avocado maki were good. The avocado maki had more avocado in proportion to rice than other places, so that was nice. 3. Mochi ice cream, strawberry. This was pretty good. About average, I guess. 4. Yuzu cheesecake. Nice citrus flavor. I know Japanese cheesecakes are airier/lighter than American cheesecakes, but I thought they are usually a bit more creamy than this one. This one was more like a regular cake. It was good, though. Overall a good, casual place I'd be glad to return to for Japanese food. Service was good, although there were only two servers while we were there, and so sometimes it could be a bit slow. There were two TV screen showing sports. There is a small parking lot, or you can park on a nearby street.

Fortunately, Sushi Maruyama fills the, "we have a lot of fish varietal options" tier, which is nice. This is a place where if you try to stuff yourself, you will probably spnd around 150-200. Which, sounds like a lot until you realize you can get a ton of variety, and 20 pieces for that price. I unfortunately did not get to sit at the counter, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of the sushi I had. The fish overall is good, although there were some pieces that were too fishy or didn't taste quite prepared like a super high end omakase. The service was generally excellent, and I also enjoyed having the checklist type menu where I could just draw on it, since that allowed me to be greedy and pick everything I wanted to try!

Everything we ordered was absolutely scrumptious and worth the price. Our favorites were the Crunchy Lobster Roll, packed with lobster salad, salmon, avocado & cucumber, tobiko, and topped with crunchy flakes and house sauce (a fresh roll) and the Wagyu & Sea Roll, which combined shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, and seared Kobe beef (a cooked roll)! Super rich and satisfying!! The Scallop Butter Yaki was also delicious, with very tender and naturally sweet scallops and seared mushrooms in house-made butter sauce. We also ordered Oyster Shooter, a good combination of oyster, ikura, quail egg, ponzu sauce, and sake. Shot was not too strong but very well combined! The highlight of our meal was definitely Beef Tongue Skewer (a daily special). We're very impressed, as the skewer was incredibly tender, fresh, and melted in our mouths. We paired everything with a Sho Chiku Bai Nigori sake, which is soooo warm and comforting, complemented our meal nicely. Service was very quick, and the staff was very attentive throughout our visit. The quality and variety of the fish is really good for the price, and this is a place I would be delighted to explore more of when I am in the bay. Highly recommend. Sashimi Omakase - Glistening set of thicc cut sashimi featuring the best cuts of classic beloved fish. I was very thrilled to receive both the belly of the salmon and yellowtail, which were glistening with the skin, paired with impressive knife work and delicate marbling. The pickled wasabi helped significantly to give it that uplifting kick for the white fish from sea bream to amberjack to snapper. Fat Boi Roll - Indulgent roll that starts with a delicious fried california roll to form the base, topped by an indulgent mix of sashimi, crab salad, and classic sushi sauces. I love that this roll is representative of a volcano, but nevertheless still tastes harmonious. When you have an earlier dinner (like I did this time around; 5:30pm), the service is great with the food coming out in a timely manner. I've come during prime dinner time (7pm) and the wait can be long given how small the restaurant is. And a few times we'd put our order in and it would take a good 20-30 minutes to get anything. Even when we ordered a beer and all they have to do was go to the refrigerator, open the bottle and serve it to us, it wouldn't be done until we ask about it again. We really recommend checking out their off menu items (they will hand you a hand-written note when you get there) because the chef is just clearly so talented. Here are the highlights: * Ankimo Nigiri (off menu): Have to be honest, I was actually pretty scared to try ankimo (Google said it's monkfish liver - like who even dare to eat liver ), but I'm so glad I did. It wasn't fishy or difficult to eat at all, but incredibly rich and creamy. I'm obsessed!!! * Otoro (off menu): This was the star. The tuna belly was pure umami, super fatty, buttery, and literally melted the second it hit my tongue - really recommend ordering this one * Lobster Roll (off menu): As a girl who's on calories deficit, my body screams for help when I found out it had shrimp tempura (I tried to avoid fried food), but this roll was so damnnnnn savory! It's made of lobster, shrimp tempura and a combo of eel sauce, spicy mayo, and tobiko - no need anymore dipping sauce cause they were just phenomenal * Kaisen: This was a refreshing roll - made of tuna, salmon, hamachi (yellowtail), and white tuna. Shiso (perilla) really enhanced the flavor of the fish and brought fresh taste that I think is the best pairing for any sushi/sashimi dish * Woodside Roll: This was the only miss for us. It uses minced spicy tuna, which honestly ruined the texture and flavor of the fish. We prefer tasting the real meat rather than a mash :( Overall, we like everything that we order, and our bill came out at around $100 for all that we had (budget friendlyyyyy) and we were really satisfied with the sushi quality.
