Subway San Carlos served me an excellent Spicy Italian made just the way I like it. Mine came on Italian Herb and Cheese bread that was perfectly toasted. Drink on the side was a Dr Pepper, and it was also perfect. Atmosphere is pretty standard for an older location that has not been updated in many years. The tables , food counter prep area, floors and windows are clean and neat Parking in front and back. The one strike against Subway in San Of Carlos was the bathroom. It was obviously not cleaned well for at least a few days. No hook to hang a jacket. Sink drain empties VERY SLOWLY. And when I visited I first had to clear the plugged up toilet and give it a light cleaning before I could use it. Would never had sent kids in there alone because of the lack of upkeep. Close to the San Carlos Transit Center for easy SamTrans and CalTrain access. Except for the restroom, I count this Subway visit in San Carlos California as a win. You may want to stop by yoursellf for some well prepared Subway food too. read more

We hadn't had Subway in years, but recently had it out-of-state, on a road trip and it was good, so we placed an online order for lunch today - two footlong sandwiches. One sandwich was made correctly for the most part, although it was a very sad sandwich - talk about skimping on ingredients and just throwing it together! The second sandwich had 2 unwanted ingredients added, and was missing 2 other ingredients. We paid $2.29 extra for avocado and there were 3 tiny pieces of avocado. When we got home, we had to pick through the sandwich to remove things and I had to pull out ingredients that we had on hand to add to the sandwich, since ingredients were missing. Sandwiches were thrown together unevenly and employee(s) can't read orders or just don't care. We will not be going back. Owner/manager: Please train your employees better or hire employees that actually take pride in their work. read more

There were 2 females and 1 male working behind the counter around lunch time assisting guests with their orders. Amazon driver dropped off a package. The male worker was in the middle of a sandwich. He grabbed the package and placed it in their general back space, didn't replace his gloves, and continued on with the sandwich. ‍ I think he needs a review of food safety guidelines. read more

The main reason for me posting this review is to commend the employee who helped me and the customer ahead of me. I went in Friday 9:00pm. There was one customer being helped when I walked in so I got in line. The customer in front of me did not speak English and was having trouble ordering. Nava P. was working and he was trying his best to help the customer. He was pointing at the items telling the customer what each one was. The customer then ordered steak sandwich but changed his mind so Nava was showing and telling him the different options again. Nava was really patient and had amazing customer service, and the fact that he was not getting irritated speaks highly of him. When it was time for the condiments Nava was again showing and telling the options. Finally it was my turn to order. I wanted a foot long tuna on Italian herb and cheese. Nava went to get the bread and there were only 2 six inch pieces left (which is completely fine with me). He asked if it was ok that it was like that which I said it was and he apologized. Next when I went to order the tuna there was no more, and again he was apologetic. I'm not a picky person so I switched to steak and bacon. When he was making the sandwich the bread was torn on the back end where he did not cut it. Again he asked if that was ok if if I wanted a different piece. He also apologized again. First time trying this subway location. FYI: the directions on Yelp lead you to the back door of the subway building. You can still enter this way, but there is a front entrance as well. I checked in and received my one free cookie with my order. Staff working at this location is very friendly. Received my order with no problem. The only thing I notice is that the pepperoni in the metal dish still looked frozen. For those who get their bread and meat toasted, they probably it's probably OK, but I don't usually get mine toasted so this time I ordered the salami sandwich without the pepperoni. read more

I wish I could post a picture of the two footlong subs we ordered here today (and probably once every week). Our subs were on point and they definitely made sure they followed our instructions - one sub was super spicy with the spicy sauce and jalapenos and the other one was milder for the young one - they were perfect. I would not recommend this particular subway because the meat seems old or something. If you can, go to the one on Veterans Blvd Redwood City and you will be able to tell the difference. Yes, not all subways are the same... At this location, The meat doesn't look fresh and could be because it's a very small place with low traffic. After visiting various sandwich establishments in the area over the past month, I've gained a deeper appreciation for Subway. For $5 or $6 you can get a foot long sandwich just about however you want it. Besides, your typical deli will inevitably give you too much meat and then charge you accordingly. After struggling to figure out which special has the best balance between health-consciousness and flavor, I usually end up picking apart the last third of my sandwich so I don't end up eating too much bread or meat anyway. I'm usually satisfied with a 6 inch sub which is priced accordingly at Subway. When was the last time you could find a decently prepared deli sandwich for under $5? I have no complaints about my friendly neighborhood Subway. There are only about 6 or 7 tables but its always clean and rarely crowded. read more

Nice staff and a clean subway. Always fresh - not just the slogan- because you know if you go to subways a lot you'll know there are some where it's really just the slogan. Wow I never thought I'd have to leave a lengthy review for a subway! Came in during lunch and waited patiently with everyone else until it was my turn for them to take my order. A middle aged gentleman with a mustache took my order, and his attitude SUCKED. I ordered the sliders, which have specific sauces and veggies, and he totally refused to put any of the topics because "they don't come with sauce or veggies and we can't add anything". Wtf! I then asked if I could purchase them separately so I could at least make my sandwich at home, but then he says that they don't allow veggies to be purchased a la carte. If he was the manager (based on his business attire), then he definitely should be providing better service, especially since it's kind of his job to do so. You know, Subway is fine for a quick bite, the prices are decent, and the ingredients seem fresh. But why can't they figure out how to ring up the $6 meal deal? I have gone to three different Subways, and every one overcharges - anywhere from $6.50 to $8.00. It's very frustrating. On top of that, the staff never seems to know what is going on. If you ask what sandwiches are available for $2, they'll say they don't offer that. If you ask for the $5 foot long, they'll look at you like you asked for free food. The owner (I think) was very kind and said that he doesn't charge for avocado (real, not the spread) for veggie sandwiches as there isn't much to them anyway. I go here primarily for the affordable lunch option. Black Forest Ham tastes okay, so does their Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki. Almost always choose Italian Herb & Cheese for type of bread. Since all Subways basically serve the same food, this serves as a review of this location. It's a small place so it's probably better to get food to go unless you only have a party of 2 or fewer. Seating is indoors only but it's within walking distance to lots of park benches etc on Laurel street. They've got a few car parking places in the back and are laid back enough to let you park a bike inside as long as it's not blocking any tables. The employees are friendly and pretty quick as long as more than one of them is there. Usually during peak times they staff up to 2 or 3 and the wait time is only 5 minutes or so. read more

I go here about three times a week for lunch, as i work close. However, I don't go here by choice. I go because it's cheap and I want a healthy salad for lunch. I also go for the dude who always wears an army shirt (sorry man, I forgot your name). He's super friendly and he makes everything great. This review regards my most recent experience with one of their new hires that just destroyed my final nerve with experience with their new hires. I asked him his name, he said it was "Shreva" or something like that, I didn't quite get it. I drove there for my lunch to get my usual salad and I see this new employee. He asks me what I would like to order. I responded "Can I please get a chopped veggie salad" and he said "I'm sorry, I'm not trained for that". He's Indian with a strong accent - I didn't understand him that well, so I had to ask him to repeat that about 5 times for me to finally understand that what he was trying to say was that he wasn't trained to make a salad and that he was only trained to make a sandwich. I almost said "Can I walk you through it?" or "Can I just make it myself?" but it took everything I had to not say something mean. Subway is always ready to tell how healthy their sandwiches can be and i firmly believe this notion is very much true at this store. The very quality of the fine bread and the hygiene maintained in store are the key points.
