MP Mongolian BBQ is well priced for quality Mongolian food. We heard about this location from their first location (Su's Mongolian BBQ) and wanted to try this location out! There's plenty of parking and the restaurant itself has plenty of seating. Upon entering, staff was welcoming and friendly. They offered to explain the instructions on how to build the bowls for barbecuing. A table will be assigned ahead of time and set with water mugs and utensils. There is a large variety of ingredients to build your mongolian bbq bowl such as baby corn, mushrooms, onions, and more. In case of indecision, there are posted instructions for a sauce recipe in the sauce area. All items chosen end up on the grill at the end and returned back to you in a singular large bowl. If desired, there are extra seasoning add ons at the end. Free soft serve is included with the meal. Always great to have dessert at the end! I'll definitely be back. We gave this place a try and really liked it. The restaurant has a parking lot away from El Camino Real and the entrance is located on the parking lot side of the building. In theory, you should only have two shots at piling up your bowls, but I don't think they are that strict. They provide some helpful recipes of sauce to put over your meats, veggies and noodles. The guys running the grill have it down and the person helping at the tables is pretty friendly. Steamed rice and a soft serve ice cream machine is available as well. I finally got to eat here! I came with some co-workers yesterday during lunch and we had a good time. First off, the lunch price is at $21.99, and this includes two trips to the buffet although they allow a third trip in which they don't state because lots of people tend to go over what they want and don't finish. The restaurant is clean, and the owner's make sure they're wiping the buffet bar often. It looks as if the husband does the cooking while the wife goes around checking on tables and guests, etc. I would also like to thank Jenny, one of the employees, for being so nice and treating us like family. She gave us knowledge about the place and its history, etc. They have most of everything you'd typically want in a Mongolian buffet bar except I wish they had lamb as a lunch item as opposed to just dinner. The food is cooked fresh and hot! I love that they have additional condiments such as sesame oil, teriyaki sauce, and more to add into your bowl. I do think they should also include fried rice, soup, and other hot items as part of the experience to draw-in more customers. The old Mongolian BBQ spot in Santa Clara used to have all this and they were so popular and loved. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this place and will definitely come back again for lunch. I came in on a Friday night to get some Mongolian BBQ. It had been awhile since I'd been here and there had been a few changes. I love Mongolian BBQ and this place is consistently good. The prices have gotten higher, and they limit you to two times at the buffet, so you need to make sure you fill each bowl as much as you can! Two full bowls of food is plenty for me though. First, you need two bowls when you go up to the buffet. They get full fast, so fill one up with noodles and meat and then the other bowl with vegetables! Two full bowls of raw and cold foods will shrink down to just one bowl of food when cooked. They also give you rice and soft serve ice cream for dessert. They used to have spring rolls and a few other sides available, but it seems they've done away with that. The price of this is $25.99 on weekends, and slightly less expensive on weeknights. It was definitely pricier than our last visit, but that's to be expected. I did two separate sauce recipes. I tried the curry and I did their House Mongolian BBQ sauce. Once you give the cooks your bowls then they quickly cook it all on their enormous grill surface. Being able to design your dish is part of the fun with Mongolian BBQ. We arrived around 6:30 and there wasn't a lot of people in general. I'm not sure how busy it can get, but it was nice and quiet when we were there. The veggie selection isn't as plentiful compared to other Mongolian bbq I've been to in the past but I really only get broccoli in mine so nbd. I'm very happy with the sauce selection, garlic and oyster sauce all the way. Topped it with some sesame oil after it was cooked. I like how you can get 2 bowls in one trip, that way I can have more noodles and not have to play the balance game in one bowl. If you love Su's Mongolian near Santa Clara University, you'll love MP Mongolian. When I found this place, I was curious to see how it compared. Little did I know, they're practically the same place! When I asked the owner, she said her sister owns Su's Mongolian! Therefore, their food taste and quality is exactly the same. This place however seems newer and slightly more modern. The lines are not too bad at all! There is also plenty of seating! The exterior looks like it would be part of an industrial business area, and it has a lot of parking! Service was good and I had my water refilled right away. There is also an all you can eat self serve soft serve machine with really milky tasting soft serve. When making my bowl, I always go with the 1st timer recipe for sauce. It's the flavor I prefer, however you can tailor it to your preference. My partner always makes a bowl with just the pineapple juice to make his bowl sweeter and more bulgogi tasting. This place is my jam! read more

Felt like they were watching us to see how much food we put into our bowls (because god forbid paying customers take the amount of food they want... at a buffet). Cherry on top? The extra charge for the to-go box. It's not even the amount, it's the principle of the matter. For the first time in my life, I'm being charged for a to-go box to take home LEFTOVERS. The lady (same one who rang us up) seemed to not understand that yes, people take leftovers home. When I asked for a box, she was very confused. We had over half of the bowl left too. I even pointed to the bowl to show her and she still didn't seem to understand. Do they eat their customers' leftovers, is that why she was confused? You do get two bowls per visit which is actually a lot of food. The buffet bar had noodles and lots of meats and veggies. There was white rice on the side table if you wanted that and it's not cooked with the rest of your food. There was a nice variety of oils and sauces that you could use for the bowl and they had some premade combination recipes if you didn't know what to do. The food was not bad. The flavors reminded me of good takeout Chinese food from the East Coast! I like my food a little spicy so I had added some of the chili oil and thought it was great. There's free refills on only fountain drinks, but make sure to ask for the fountain coke instead of just saying coke because last time they gave us a canned coke and we had no idea they had fountain drinks with free refills. The staff's friendly, but can barely speak english, they have a young boy working the cashier who is kind and helps to translate. They have a guildline of a idea of what liquids to put such a vinegar, garlic etc. I thought wow that seems like a lot of liquid but it all cooks off and quickly. Then they have some other sauces you can top it with. You can go back for seconds but thats it so fill your bowl up. They do have rice by where they have the ice cream machine if you want that. The Host, Dave, greeted us and walked us through how it works. 2 bowls per person, two times through the line if you want 2nds are included in the price. Along with steamed rice and desert soft-serve if you still have room. He also let us know the extras we could get for an additional price (drinks, spring rolls, etc). I had a terrible experience. It was my first and last time at this restaurant. Upon arrival, I told them it was my first time there. I asked if it was a buffet, if I could eat as much as I wanted. The lady told me YES, but told me not to waste the food, and I said YES! My friend and I ate very little the first and second time because it shrank while cooking. When we went a third time to order my friend dish, we were told it was the last one they could serve. Furthermore, one of the ladies came to confirm that we couldn't order more. I felt offended. When I went to pay, there was a sign next to the register that said "weekday buffet." It bothers me even more because we asked for free food upon entering. I was embarrassed, and I never asked for free food. I reassured the waitress and cashier, who were the same people who had prepared our food, and I told them it was my first and last time there. The selection of vegetables (cabbage, onions, spinach, mushrooms, bean sprouts, chilis, broccoli and a bunch I have forgotten) is excellent, and the selection of meats in nice thin shreds (pork, chicken, beef, and shrimp if you want) and noodles is great, too, and seasonings, you can create a really healthy and delicious meal once you learn the seasoning combinations that you like. They do a great job of cooking it too, just perfect. And quick! There is nothing elegant about the place, but the people who run it are very nice, and especially happy to see returning customers. Stopped by for lunch after we had some training in the area. It's in a strip mall so we were easily able to find parking. It's very honor system as you go in and you start putting together your bowl. You can get two bowls at a time and go up twice. If you go us more than twice, I think it was $10 more each time. The staff set up a table for you. You get complementary water and then they have a refrigerator where you can grab something if you want a soft drink or another drink. And then you pay at the end, when you leave. I hope they're watching people or you're honest when you go up to pay, as you just say what you got. I like that they let you have two medium sized bowls. I liked to use one for the noodles and one for the protein and veggies. I wasn't sure which one to put the sauces in. And they also have like a recipe for sauces, if you weren't sure. For the meats, they had chicken, pork and beef. Lamb is available at dinnertime, I believe. For the veggies and other ingredients, lots of variety - broccoli, onions, celery, carrots, mushrooms, bean sprouts, etc. Then they will cook it for you on the big round cooktop. We had two people cooking when we went. And depending on the line, it can be a few minutes to 15 minutes in line. The only cook it for a few minutes - it's super quick and they will put in in one large bowl for you. My first bowl was pretty spicey even though I didn't add any chili to mine. My dining companions agreed. The spice must've been on the cooktop. For my second bowl, it was much better - not spicy at all. Hopefully they clean it regularly. And you can add more sauce if it's not flavorful for you. I really liked it - tasty and easy and totally customizable. This place is def not great for people with allergies - everything is very communal. At the end we had some complementary vanilla soft serve. Delicious. Paid and left. Once you go down the buffet line of ingredients (pick a protein and then your veggies), there are several flavors, seasonings, sauces to choose from. Thankfully, they have suggested list of flavors to mix up for your meal. Once you are done with your selections, the chef then takes your ingredients and cooks it. We went here excited and ate our first bowl and then were looking forward to getting our next bowl to go. because the sign clearly says they charge after 3 or more trips. Not knowing this establishment had some ulterior motive of some sort. We noticed that the three individuals working there were staring at us while we were going back for seconds ( knowing they were going to charge us with no warning whatsoever) However, AFTER getting our food cooked, the older lady server told us it would be $10 for a to go box and walked up to our table and yelled at us saying "DONT WASTE FOOD" "NO FREE TO GO BOXES. Obviously, we're not going to waste our food, because we wanted to take it home..,, also, it doesn't say that we will be charged an additional $10 for a to go box for the 2nd trip. The sign said they charged after 3 or more trips. When we brought that up to them, they just gave us a blank stare, a shoulder shrug and told us to pay. Then the lady kept telling us "NO I WROTE IN ON THE SIGN" Like what sign??? Cause clearly we're not reading the same sign correctly... The cook and the younger (mid 40s) lady who checked us out at the end could be seen talking shit about us and laughing when we were about to leave, because somehow they were able to SCAM us into paying $37 total for ONE bowl and the to go box ($10 extra charge) THE ABSOLUTE WORST THING ABOUT IT, is we've came here once before and we physically watched them give these men free LARGE to go boxes to put their food in instead of sitting in to eat. If you're going to show favoritism to certain customers, don't make it obvious to for other customers to blatantly witness that. We were being so nice at first and asking kindly, and they still treated us horribly. They clearly need a lesson on talking to customers properly.
