Updated: I've now ordered their chili cheese dog three times in the last week. Obviously, it tastes good. Its appearance just surprised me and my original review was unfairly driven by pregnancy hormones. I love this place. First off, this rating in a standalone incident. Normally, I'd easily rate Mountain Cravings a 4.5/5. But tonight I ordered a chili cheese dog and please see the picture for reference. It's like an alien came to Earth for the first time and tried its best to decipher what a chili cheese hotdog is and that's what I got. It tasted... fine? Good enough? However, if you're pregnant and you are craaaving a chili cheese hot dog on a cold and rainy day, please brace yourself to not get an actual chili cheese hotdog. You will get a hot dog with some pinto beans, a small slather of chili (?), some cheese, and lots of onions. Maybe a few cilantro pieces included. Anyway, other than this, Mountain Cravings is one of THE best places to grab food. They have THE best fish and chips. I'm just so sad about my chili cheese hotdog experience. read more

Saved my appetite for this! Super glad I did! Mountain Cravings was on my list to hit. The reviews did not lead me astray lol The menu is huge!! I wasn't prepared for that hahaha I was able to find a few things that were vegetarian friendly. My mom wanted nachos, and I wanted a cheese quesadilla. My dad was craving a burger. They had all of those. It was the perfect stop. There was some sort of street fair going on, so we grabbed our food and walked around the little town. Service was good. The restaurant isn't very big. They sure do whip up some good grub though! I can see why they have good reviews. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the mountain. Next time I go up, I will come back here. read more

Maria and her daughter are so kind and always provide excellent service. It's amazing to see how much the business has expanded even in the short time we've lived up in the area. They have the familiar treats of a local michoacana and more!!! They sell sweet treats, small eats, hot foods amd much much more. Everything here is always tasty, prepared fresh, and never fails to hit the spot. They just opened a patio area where they have had live music as well as an indoor dining area. I haven't yet sat in either but definitely look forward to! Another plus is that they are one of the only eateries on the mountain that is opened past 8pm. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and it was SO good. I was expecting a normal pastrami with mustard soaked bread and a pickle or 2 but what I got was so much more than I expected. The bread was toasted perfectly. The pastrami was fresh off the flat top and topped with melted cheese, mustard and pickles on a bed of sauerkraut. It was served open faced with fries and was worth way more than I paid for it. It was like a Reuben and a pastrami had a baby and I got to eat said baby. I'd do it all again tomorrow. Best pastrami on the mountain for sure. I hope it never leaves the menu. read more

1st time eating there today, food was great and the two ladies working were super nice.

First time there so we tried the tamales and they were delicious definitely going back Also had a large Chocolate Shake it was incredible !!

Came here on 4th of July as it was one of the few places open and I will say we definitely got lucky! As soon as we walked in we were greeted and the woman who took our order had excellent customer service. We spoke to the owner who told us her backstory and just made us even more excited to try this place out. The place itself is very clean and has a nice homey feel to it. They have an overwhelmingly huge menu varying from burgers to Mexican food and it was definitely hard to choose as everything looks delicious. We ordered a bunch of different dishes and everything tasted amazing and exceeded our expectations. Everything was fairly priced as well for the amount of food we got. The food tasted so good we didn't even to snap a picture. Definitely cannot wait to come back and try out the rest of their menu!!! read more

I paid three dollars for a sorry ass tamale from the market when you go to mountain cravings and get a big old fatty for the same price. I've been here 3 times and all 3 times the food and service were great. So far I've only tried the burger and fries. 1st time I ordered to go, 2nd time I sat outside in there patio picnic table seating area which was cool because I was able to sit with my dog and the 3rd time sat next door in their newly expanded dining area which includes air conditioning, nice clean decorated bathrooms and a large screen TV for entertainment. The prices are reasonable and they stay open late which is convenient unlike every other food place that closes early on the mountain. I like to support local businesses so I will continue eating here and for next time I'll be trying the pastrami, fish and chips and chicken tostada bowl. They have a variety of food and drinks to choose. This is a great little gem in Crestline. read more

I have been a LOT of places in my life and this place had the BEST pastrami sandwich I have ever had. The roll was perfectly toasted and the meat had a hint of crunch. Melted cheese and pickles were perfect. The seasoned fries added to the experience. Everything was freshly made and it was so good that I am afraid to order anything else there on my next trip for the fear of getting something less than perfect. My family just moved to the area from LA and it's one of our favorite eateries. It tastes more like home than most of the Mexican restaurants in town. Prices are a little higher but definitely worth it. Placed a phone order around 8:00 PM and only given a 10 minute wait . Today we ordered Onion Rings, Jalapeño Poppers, Birria Bowl & LA Dog & Fries. (Didn't get a picture because we ate everything so quickly) Onion Rings $5.99 Small to go box. Standard onion rings. Jalapeño Poppers $8.99 Tasty but portion was disappointing. Only 3 poppers. Included cut pickles on the side which is a great addition, I've never had. At $3 a popper, I'd recommend a smoothie or esquite instead. Birria Bowl - $14.99 5 Tostadas, cabbage, salsa, onion, cilantro, jalapeño asado & limes. Delicious! Came in a large soup to go container. Enough servings for 2. Lots of meat & flavor. Tostadas taste home fried and not store bought. LA Dog & Fries - $11.50 Can't go wrong! Bacon wrapped hot dog with grilled veggies. Jalapeño asado, French fries and fountain soda. They charge for side sauces like Ranch & BBQ but they're actually good. Pay the extra if you can't enjoy your food without sauce. read more

Mountain cravings has changed ownership and seldom is that a good thing but in this case the place got better! The hot dogs are still super legit but the new owners brought their expertise into the new menu. The Mexican food served here is like someone's aunt made you a plate, because it IS someone's aunt making the food. The Mexican food is home cooked, authentic and delicious! We've had the fish and chips from here lately also and the plate is generous and cooked to perfection. The real stars of the new menu are the gorditas however. The Gorditas are so so good. Mountain Cravings After several months of waiting, Mountain Cravings has finally opened! I was excited to see another food place replace what was formerly Fast Eddies. Opening on the same weekend as Blue Jay Burgers, I think that Mountain Cravings faces the challenge of bringing fast-food and fruit smoothies to Crestline. As a local, I hope to see this place succeed. The restaurant is located in Top Town and has 5 covered picnic tables for outdoor dining. I believe it is family-owned by the same owners as the Bear House Restaurant, just down the street from it. I came to the restaurant on opening day around 5pm and I was warmly greeted by Amanda. She explained some of the items that they had available and commented on the different smoothies that they can make with the customer's choice of a base like milk, almond milk, lactaid, etc. Street hot dogs and tacos are at the top of my list as quick comfort food, so I decided on an LA Dog combo with a Chocolate Shake in the side. You can upgrade your hot dog to a combo for $3, which includes a side of fries and a can of soda. LA Dog: A bacon wrapped hot dog with grilled onions, peppers and jalapeños on a sesame seed bun. My hot dog did not come with any ketchup and mustard, so I had to put that on myself with some mayo as well. Without condiments, I didn't think that there was much flavor in the hot dog or onions and peppers. I was a bit disappointed that I had to add the condiments myself. In comparison to a hot dog cart where they make it to order and you get the visual satisfaction of seeing the hot dog come together. The Jalapeño packed a kick and was perfectly grilled. I am not preferential to the sesame seed bun as it is thicker and also dryer than a smaller hot dog bun. I know I may be critical about the hot dog, but considering the price of the hot dog, I think it is extremely important to succeed in presentation and execution... especially for repeat customers. Fries: Standard cut fries. I was surprised that the fries did not have any salt or seasoning, so if that is how they're supposed to be made, be sure to grab a packet of salt. As a result, they are bland and will need some salt or ketchup. I'm curious if that is part of the restaurant's intention of being healthier or allowing the customer to customize their meal. Soda: A standard can of soda included in a combo! Your choice of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Dr Pepper, Brisk and Squirt. I was expecting a regular fountain drink with the combo, so I was a bit thrown off that a small can of soda is included in a combo as opposed to a bottle. Chocolate Shake: A standard chocolate shake made with Thrifty Ice Cream, milk, whipped cream and a cherry on top. I believe they put 4/5 scoops in a Large. The shake was solid overall, with quality ice cream, it is hard to go wrong! As much as I want this place to succeed, I think that my first impression with the food experience fell short in several areas. My review may be slightly biased because I've already had Blue Jay Burgers two days in a row before coming to Mountain Cravings, but I think that is important for the business to consider if it wants to succeed, stand out and be competitive. I will definitely give it another try, specifically for the juice smoothies, which is a fairly unique option in Crestline. read more

I can only imagine the bad reviews are from entitled, unbearable karens that complain about anything and everything. These people are the nicest, most kind and caring people. On top of that they make THE BEST food. I've never ordered anything that I didn't absolutely love. Milkshakes, fish, burritos, birria, açaí. You name it it's all effing delicious. While shopping for a Christmas gift, I decided to stop in for a smoothie. I was greeted with a warm welcome and a friendly smile. I ordered a Pina Colada smoothie. Perhaps I ordered the most undesirable flavor because it tasted gross. Perhaps with the natural sugars of the pineapple, the ice cream neutralized the flavor, making it taste super bland. Honestly, I don't know. Hopefully, this review can find a new recipe for their drink. I probably would've thrown it away, but the fact ghat I paid a little over $7 for a large, I didn't want it to completely go to waste. So, I drank it in hopes it would get better. It did not. Also, there's an upcharge of 4% if you use your credit/debit card. I paid cash and my drink was still over $7. Since we're in a pandemic, there's no indoor seating. However, there's a bench out front for you to enjoy your beverage or food. I do believe there's a patio in back, but did not stick around to see. This place sells more concession type food, rather than hearty meals. You'll find snacks like hot dogs, smoothies, milkshakes and burgers here. Plenty of easy to find parking. read more

The Mexican items offered under the latest owner are fantastic, so are the burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, and the fish and chips are absolutely spectacular (get the fried seasoned!). They often have special menu items as well. The service is always kind and friendly. Just know in advance that this place is small and has no seating other than to wait for one's order.
