I love just wandering the store, seeking out new products and items. There is everything from fresh to frozen, canned, homeopathic medicine, soaps, and lotions. Most stores I enter have very few items I can eat. But here there are a lot of snacks, sweet items, drinks, and even packaged items such as chips. I adore that they carry a variety of flours, nut flours, gluten-free, cassava, tapioca, as well as others. The store always smells clean. In the wintertime, there is a smell of ginger. The employees are always courteous and knowledgeable. The only con is that they do not have a store in Sparks. Best tip: Don't forget to bring your own grocery bags or cooler. I bring a cooler in the summertime. Always pack more bags than you think you will need.

From specialty flours, grains, spices, and dried fruits to candies, nuts, baking ingredients, and snacks, the selection is impressive. Whether you're stocking a pantry, running a small bakery, or simply buying exactly the amount you need, the bulk department offers both variety and affordability that few competitors can match. The store itself was well stocked, clean, and easy to navigate, and the prices consistently remind you why so many shoppers make WinCo their first stop. The only downside? The checkout lines. They moved steadily, but the wait was noticeably longer than I would have liked. Fortunately, the savings and selection made it feel like a worthwhile trade-off.

All of this while providing full-time positions and livable wages with benefits too. Winco proves it! In the 20+ years that I've been a Winco customer, I've always been treated well which is a phenomenal track record that some jerk has ruined. Why Linda, why? She was covering the service desk and I came in to return a defective item. As I approached the desk, she was looking me up and down with a very strange expression. So because of this, I wasn't affable but I definitely wasn't rude. I cut to the chase of why I was there. She treated me VERY badly which I ignored for the most part, stating that in all of the years that I've shopped at Winco I've never been treated so poorly. She responded by saying that I was the problem and invited me to call the corporate office! Then she said aggressively, "I've had three horrible customers in one day!" repeating it a few times. I asked to speak to a manager and she quipped that he was busy and he couldn't get away so I asked someone else to page him for me and she interfered with that page, telling them to cancel it. This is a brand new store and everyone else is amazing which is what I'm used to. I wrote this shortly after the store first opened and haven't had an unpleasant experience since and I shop here weekly. I also have not seen Linda. It's a great store with great employees and low prices. I'll keep buying whatever they have that I need from Winco. This store is my first go to store.

However, on the other side of McCarran, the Canyon Center plaza has Dollar Tree, Silver Chopsticks, a rare-for-Reno Chase Bank branch, and a Save Mart, among other provocative businesses, like, for instance, Flowing Tide Pub #7. Safeway gave me a harsh vibe during the Covid daze, especially from cashiers and front staff, so Save Mart got the nod. It's a well-maintained market, good produce and meat selection, sporadic surprise discounts on eggs, great bargains on weekly-ad items, and personable, mellow staff. Conversely, the service deli strikes me as small and lackluster. Plotted between 7th Street and Mae Anne on the northbound side of the west McCarran loop, and a hop-skip-jump from the USPS Washington station and I-80, this market screams, "LOCATION X3!"

To sum it up - horrible communication skills and lack of understanding. Just before 3pm on 01/23/2026, I called to speak with someone about partnering with an organization to host a community event. At other Savemart locations it, the store managers have been the point of contact, and I have had positive experiences. They put me on hold to speak with their manager, and when they came back on line, they literally shouted "KEYSTONE ONLY" and hung up the phone before I could respond. I thought I was accidentally disconnected so I called right back. The same person answered... she gave no hello - there was no "Thanks for calling Savemart". She said "You're the one with the _______?" I corrected her and said, "No, that is something entirely different," and took 10 seconds to explained what it was again. She did not hear what I said, cut me off, and said "my manager said Keystone only!" Again, she didn't wait for me to get off the phone and hung up the phone on her last breath. Needless to say, I'm not calling back today.
