This little gem used to serve pizza and it was delicious. I'm bummed they no longer serve it. A cute little gas/ general store located in Minden. I'll pop in from time to time and catch up with a few familar faces there. You'll be about to find some necessities here if you don't want to travel to Carson or Gardnerville for. No pizza, deal on gas is gone, all products in store cost more than any were else. Better off just driving to Minden.

One night my friend Robert asked me why I continue to pay high gas prices in Carson. "The fuel costs a lot less on Johnson lane and it's an excuse to hang out at my place, nearby." Lately, the prices have equaled out but it's a nice adventure to travel to. Before or after our visit. That's part of the beauty of open 24 hours. Plus, there's not many options for gas at two a.m. in Carson, should the need arise. Like most petro stations, there's a mini mart available. While I've never been in there, I see a small casino, too. They tell me the pizza was killer, unfortunately it has been discontinued. On the other hand, every single time, it never fails, the women behind the counter, no matter which one it is, has just the nastiest attitude! Rude Rude Rude! I do everything I can to NOT go inside if I dont have to, just because I dont want to deal with them! So sad! My wife called for pizza on Monday Aril 20, about 4pm. The gentleman that answered the phone was so rude that she ended up hanging up. My wife is so easy going. She has him on speaker phone and I recognized the voice as being the same gentleman I dealt with to pick up pizza a week earlier. On that evening, I arrived to pickup a pizza. Paid and took the sales tag to him. I noticed him wearing gloves and playing on his phone while sitting at the counter. He got up and started to cut and handle pizzas without changing his gloves. The pizza is SOOOOOO good! The only thing I would change is the hours, cause for some reason I am always craving this pizza in the middle of the night (but that's on me!) The pepperoni is always so flavorful and the salads are always fresh. I'm a ranch dipping kind of person and I highly recommend getting a side of ranch to enjoy with your pizza! We have lived in the area for awhile, but lately have noticed the customer service has went down. There used to be real friendly clerks, but now they do not even say hello, don't ask if we would like a receipt, and don't even ask us for a bag. We end up grabbing a bag and bagging our in stuff. Nothing exemplary, just a good sized, super clean general store that also sells gas. The 2 ladies behind the counter we're friggin awe-sum, SUPER friendly, and the one woman even went out of her way to open a map for me to assist in my search for E85 Ethanol fuel for my flex-fuel truck that has been a pain in my upper vasilar Hood to find since Golden gate discontinued it. JLGS rocks. They are so convinient. Gas is always cheaper than in town, and when the nearest store for anything at all is 8 miles in either direction, they provide emergency necessities like eggs, milk, butter, ice cream, beer... lol And the pizza that is sometimes cooking in there is pretty good too. I went in to the Johnson lane store to order a pizza. I put a bandana over my mouth, didn't cover my nose, upon entering a very disgruntled, unhappy woman behind the counter yelled (spoke loudly enough so everyone in the store could hear) at me that my mask (bandana) didn't not cover my entire face, to which I relied it did. I ordered, which upon reflection I should not have and not given the store my business, more on that later. As I walked to the register line, the clearly unhappy, discouraged with life woman continued to, speak loudly at me that I had to cover my face. I refrained from engaging and finally she exhaled forcefully and said she would take my payment at her register to "get me out of there". I paid, and as I was walking out she said, "and don't come back in here until it's done". Once again another example of the "Herd" following lockstep with the Talking heads. The pizza is good but the business practices are terrible. This place refused to take my order at 6 PM because they were busy and closed at 7 PM. I have spent years working in the food industry and have never seen a customer turned away an HOUR before closing. I won't be going back. Seriously, I just wanted wings...what I ended up with was an insane and inappropriate amount of attitude, and from the "manager" no less.. Don't let the pizza place hours of operation fool you, at any point during the very few hours the pizza portion of this place is open, they are likely to randomly close only to force feed you tons of inedible attitude.. Now, my problem is absolutely NOT with the food, in fact, the wings here are probably the BEST I've ever had, unfortunately due to the garbage attitude of the manager named Sharon, I won't ever go back.. Here goes my story... Today, the fifth day of January, 2015 I had one of the absolute worst management experiences of my life...seriously.. I went into this place to get wings, (like I said, best ever) only to be told that the pizza place wouldn't be open until 3:00. I was a little confused because the sign said open and the hours said 11:00 to 6:45. I recently moved back to Tahoe and couldn't wait, so I left. After I did, I called to find out why the pizza place was closed until 3:00 despite obvious information stating that is was, indeed, open.. That is when a whole crap-ton of fun began.. Sharon, the manager, gets on the line.. I asked why the pizza place was closed during business hours, for which she told me was because the lady was on a lunch break. Ok.. So then I asked why they didn't have anybody to cover these breaks..this lady would not answer this very simple question. She did, however, tell me that they had only one person working the cash register, and only one person working the pizza..and then she was there, but "she's only the manager, and that's not her job".. Ok..so, I'm not exactly a management expert, however I do have a degree in business management with concentrations in small business ownership (seriously, I'm not even lying, ironic, huh?) I'm probably not exactly the least knowledgable person in this area of expertise, but I do know this: as a manager for any small business, it is the managers responsibility (on top of general management responsibility) to A. Step in and take over when an employee is incapable, and B. Cover any shift/breaks for an employee in the event that these shifts/breaks need to be covered and the establishment does not employ enough individuals to provide extra staff.. Ok, so NOT AN EXPERT, but I know a little.. So then I asked her what exactly it was that she was employed to do, because she was a shi**y manager.. She replied by telling me that I was terrible at "customer relations" as if it's my job to make me happy while at this store....and also that she had a lot of paperwork and bookwork that needed to be done and that the conversation had gone on for too long for her. So I said something along the lines of "so basically, you get paid to sit in your ass?" I'm going to go ahead and say this this may have caught her off guard because she asked me if I really used such language in front of my daughter? Huh?? I said "ass"...there are easily fifteen different words that are far more inappropriate than the word ass, and these are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head.. Anyway, she then told me that I needed to work on my parenting skills, and that I was a terrible parent.. Fine, she's mad.. I would be too if I just got schooled my somebody 30 years my junior. But then she says to me that she has 28 years of teaching experience so therefore she knows far more than I ever will.. Alright, you got me there.. I don't have teaching experience, but as stated before..um....management degree, and this is the majority of the issue..now, your 28 years of teaching may put me in my place if I had called to complain about my children's school...NOT very useful..just sayin...so after telling me that she knows more than me, and that I'm an awful parent for saying ass, I asked her when the owner would be around..she replied by laughing at me and telling me that there wasn't an owner. So I said "so you're telling me that nobody owns this place?" She said "you tell me, since you already told me that you're smarter than me, what do you think?" I replied with "woah!! I'm pretty sure that you said that." She laughed some more...ok.. Is there an owner and when can I speak with him/her? She said "I'm not allowed to give owner information." Again, NOT what I'm asking.. Slowly this time; WHEN. WILL. THE. OWNER. BE. AVAILABLE? This lady just keep laughing... I'm not looking for their personal information, but I'm going to continuously call until one is available.. She said "go ahead, the owner is NEVER here". And then she hangs up on me.. This woman named Sharon is quite possibly the biggest vapid C U Next Tuesday I've ever had the displeasure of having to deal with.. I may only be just one to complain, but I'm positive that I'm not the only person who's had this same type of encounter with SHARON....and yeah c u next tuesday is an acronym, and yeah, I typed this in front of my kids.....BOOM!! read more

Went in for some butter, and hot dogs for the grand kids, drove to town becouse there prices were way out of line cheeper to drive the 8 miles to town. $16 a pound for bacon, $7.49 for a pack of hot dogs, at a $1.29 in town. And $7.69 a pound for butter, when I get threw there price gouging I can get a half a tank of fuel in town, I will us the Johnson Lane gold mine only fo emergencies. read more
