Today was my first time at Moulin Laguna Beach. I have been to their other locations and I'm happy to say that this location did not disappoint! The indoor restaurant is so cute and they also have a lovely patio as well. They have a lot of grab and go, premade items, as well as fresh cooked/hot meals as well. Plus, they have delicious bottled drinks and pasties made to perfection!
Cute small shop in the heart of Laguna. Just like their flag shop store, they do have everything you're looking for. They got pastries, cakes, sandwiches, crepes, breakfast, little shop, coffees and nice & friendly service. The store is very chic and spacious with both indoor and patio seating area. Unfortunately at the moment, the outdoor view is block by the construction so it's abit boring. Inside is nice and Europe vibe with plenty of Europe foods pics hanging on the walls and the baked goods smell. The foods are generally great, not too sweet and not too salty and heavy. Simply delish!
I used to go to the Newport Beach location all the time. It was close to my office, so I went at least once a week to grab a quick, healthy lunch. My main takeaway back then was that the food was delicious, but the staff wasn't very friendly... haha.This time, I was visiting Laguna Beach with a friend and looking for a spot to have a light yet tasty meal, which brought us here. My friend was starving, so they ordered a sandwich and the roast chicken plate, while I got the scrambled eggs. To be honest, the prices aren't exactly cheap.First, we tried the Jambon-Beurre sandwich, which is made with jamón (ham) inside a baguette, and it was absolutely amazing. The baguette felt a bit hard at first, but as you chew, the rich, savory flavor really comes out--before I knew it, the whole sandwich was gone! The roast chicken plate was served incredibly fresh. The side potatoes were so hot and delicious they instantly put a happy smile on my face. Even though we ate the chicken a bit later because we were focused on the sandwich, steam was still rising from it!The scrambled egg dish I ordered came with a salad and sourdough bread, making it the perfect healthy meal. It was packed with plenty of mushrooms, and I was incredibly satisfied! Unfortunately, I was so busy eating that I forgot to take photos of the food, but their desserts are excellent too, so you should definitely check them out. Highly recommend! Oh, and all the staff members here were so incredibly friendly that it made the food taste even better
The Le Parisien Brie-Apple-Walnut at Moulin is a delicious combination of sweet and savory. Creamy Brie, crisp apple, and crunchy walnuts on a baguette.
I'd been craving buttery pastries for weeks, and on Monday I happened to be in the area. I'd stopped by Forest Ave and realized Moulin was nearby too! I've been to the Newport location maybe three or four times, so I'm pretty familiar with their pastries. I was excited to finally visit the Laguna Beach spot. It's definitely smaller than Newport, but as long as they have the pastries, I'm happy. Everything in the case looked incredible--I honestly wanted to try them all. I settled on a butter croissant, a pain au chocolat, and a cannelle. Clearly, I wasn't holding back; the craving needed to be satisfied that day. My favorite was the cannelle--I could really taste the rum, and now I regret not grabbing five or six of them. Also, I'm very glad I went on a Monday... I can't imagine what parking is like on the weekend.
French Coffee and Pastry Shop Vibes with Pigeons. Moulin was Michelin Bib Gourmand and it has expanded into three locations: Newport Beach, Dana Point, and Laguna Beach. First tasted the French Pastries at a food event in Newport and I legit loved every bite! When I saw Moulin in Laguna Beach I had to pay a visit. This time I opted for something savory instead of sweet. Chicken Pesto Baguette. Definitely enjoyed the quality ingredients and the needed punch of the mustard to complement the baguette. Whether you are into people watching, drooling over their desserts, Moulin has a bit of everything with a French Twist: Crepe, Croissants, and Coffee! They also sell day old pastry in bags for $10, so naturally I grabbed a bag for the road :)
I Loved this place... the ladies behind the counter all speak French.... The menu is in French and English...I ordered a ham and cheese croissant....and a chocolate chip cookie... the croissant was flakey and buttery... the cookie was delicious too....... a walk up counter to order.... the staff is very attentive... they bring your food to the table... and come by often to check on you The restaurant is on a street with no driving or parking... blocked off for the restaurants...cute... Laguna Parking is issue... every thing is paid parking.... We parked on the street it is $6.00 per hour or you can do an all day parking for $25.00....
A great place for a Sunday morning. Coffee and mille feuille were delicious. Quick service with a beautiful French themed environment. The mille feuille was flaky, creamy, and crispy. The perfect amount of sugar too, as I don't usually eat desserts. A nice pastry with my black coffee.
Everything was so fresh and delicious. I'm glad I got this ham egg and cheese croissant sandwich. I enjoy vegetables with my food, so the side salad was perfect to put into my sandwich. The restaurant has a cute European vibe. Friendly employees. Second time here. Would come again.
We really wanted to love this place but it just kept missing the mark. Overall, it wasn't a terrible lunch but too many issues that would prevent us from returning. Staff is all super friendly and helpful whether it's at the cashier or the busser, they were all great. We had a small group so we ordered a variety of items. The baguette sandwiches were a good size but the baguettes were dry, stale, and very hard to chew. Nothing like true Parisien style. The jambon fromage and saucisson had a good amount of filling but the lettuce in the jambon fromage doesn't make sense. No jambon sandwich in France has lettuce in it. The croque madame was solid. Nicely toasted and thick bread, perfectly cooked egg, it was cheesy, great ham, but the side salad was just subpar. Wilted lettuce and no actual "dressing" except for simple balsamic. Now for the pastries. The plain croissant was soft, chewy, and very mild in flavor. The issue seems to be they stack all the pastries in a small "container" like display so they all become soft on top of one another. The almond croissant was actually pretty good! Crunchy with a semi sweet almond paste. Thee Parisien Flan was a mix. The custard or "flan" filling was great, rich, and velvety. The crust was lacking. Very tough and dry, not flaky and crumbly as it should be. And the Almond tart was just a fail. It was oddly gummy, the almonds were burnt, and the crust was rock hard.
Outstanding Service Ruth! I just had to leave a review because Ruth gave me the best customer support experience I've had in a long time. From the very first moment, she was so kind, patient, and professional that it honestly felt like I was being helped at a cozy little café in France. The way she communicated was smooth and reassuring--like "no worries, I've got you" but in the most elegant, classy way. Merci beaucoup, Ruth!!!
Cute little French bakery! I took a quick look at their menu, but decided I was only hungry enough for a pastry. I got a mini pie and it was delicious! There's not a ton of seating, but there is more outside. My sister got the almond croissant and said it tasted super fresh. Highly recommend if you're looking for a light lunch or snack. FYI - the line can get pretty long but moves fast. read more
I loved this cute little French cafe. It was right in the main shopping area in Laguna Beach. It is very charming. We had breakfast there on a Saturday morning. We didn't have to wait too long, but it is also off season. We ordered a breakfast croissant and omelet. Both were really good! We were able to sit outside as they had many tables. We also had our dog with us. I would definitely go back in the future. read more

We stopped here for an early breakfast . Loved this cute little hole in a wall . Very authentic French breakfast . I even enjoyed they played French radio inside . The service was speedy and they were friendly. . The food and pastries were delicious . Will definitely come back when in town read more

Adorable French bakery in the heart of Laguna Beach. I just love their selection of fresh pastries, their coffee and quiche! I enjoy the vegetarian quiche with goat cheese, spinach and bell peppers with the light French salad on the side. The sandwiches look sooooo good, but I haven't tried them yet. Service is pretty quick by counter order, and then you get a little placard with a number for them to bring it to your table. My only complaint (minus a star) is that a lot of people bring their dogs inside the restaurant despite the signs saying "No Dogs Allowed." I love dogs, but that's just gross and disrespectful to the other diners. read more

I bought the Quiche Lorraine because based on the reviews where people said it was good. However, my quiche was not light and fluffy like quiche I've had in the past and it was overcooked. The first quiche I got was darker than this one, and the second one was still dark based on quiche I've cooked and eaten at other restaurants. I would not recommend the quiche based on my experience eating it. read more

My friend and I were doing a day trip and decided to stop by for some pastries and sandwiches before heading to the beach. Little did we know how obsessed with the salmon sandwiches we would be. They are to die for. We went back later in the day to snag another on the way home but they were sold out. Do yourself a favor and get one for yourself; do not share! The croissant was very good as well! The staff is super friendly. Parking can be difficult if you go later in the day. read more
Moulin is a sweet little French bakery that is worth making the stop into. The place is legit French. The pastries and very tasty and the sandwiches look great. The coffee drinks are a hit and miss. It all depends on your barista and what you order. The food and pastry service is fast. The coffee service is pretty slow. Again, though, it depends on which barista you get. The ambiance is great and relaxing. They have a chill little front porch that you can just sit and people watch while you sip your drinks. Overall I would definitely recommend you give the place a try. Enjoy! read more

My favorite breakfast place in Orange County! Everything on the menu is really good especially the bakery items. I love the baguette, almond croissant, and chocolate croissant. I love the croissant sandwich as well as the crepes. It's all excellent! The place is getting more popular so there's more seating but also linger wait times. One nice twist: the staff is French speaking so if you want to practice your French, this is the place to go. read more

I have never been to France but setting foot in this place I almost feel that I dont need to. In the past I have gone for French press coffee, baguettes with ingredients imported from France and an egg sandwich (which were both great) but this time I went for a Napoleon dessert and I couldn't have been more pleased with my selection, however I must say every dessert looked amazing (as you'll be able to see from my pics). Customer service wide -the staff is as focused on being expedient as they are on making sure that every plate and package for people dining in or getting takeout is presented in an aesthetically pleasing manner. They put so much thought in presentation I wouldn't be surprised if some staff worked in fine dining restaurants. Additionally the inside is very clean. I highly recommend this place if you are unable to travel to France but want to feel.like you were there for a few minutes at least or if yoy want sweet desserts to go :-) read more
3.0 stars We've been to many French places. Many. This one is by far the most average. It felt like Disney world food - it looked amazing but when you sit down and sink your teeth into it. You realize there's nothing to brag home about. Choc croissant was eh Sandwich was eh - bread was chewyyy. Coffee was good And some of the dessert was whatever. If this is the only French place in town - sure why not - go for it. But if we're comparing high quality French food on a blank canvas then this was just mediocre at best. read more

This particular Moulin location is located in Laguna Beach, across the street from the main boardwalk on Forest ave. During COV-19 they had outdoor patio seating. They offer most of the items found at their main location which included an assortment of pastries, croissants, crepes, coffee, and sandwiches. Chocolate Hazlenut Tart ($6.00) - Do you love chocolate as much as I do? Then the chocolate hazlenut tart is the thing to order! This treat is so decadent and rich and will satisfy every chocoholic's sweet tooth! I highly recommend pairing this dessert with some coffee. Almond Croissant ($4.50) - This has to be one of the best if not best almond croissants I have tried. It was buttery, crispy, and flaky on the outside and the inside was soft and a little doughy. It was filled with a delicious almond pastry cream and I was happy to report that there was plenty of it! I really enjoyed this treat, even though it was on the high end price wise compared to other croissant places. Overall I was really impressed with this location of Moulin as I am with their other locations. They really bring that French cafe experience to Southern California. One thing I have noticed is that all the staff at all the locations I have visited are fluent in French. That makes it even more authentic, lol! read more

My friend and I came here for brunch and had the Quiche Lorraine and Croque Madame. I loved the quiche and my friend said the Croque Madame tasted like what she had in Paris a couple years ago. I also ordered a latte, tried to get vanilla and they only have mochas, lol. It was good though! read more
Currently they have the street blocked off so no cars can pass through. I do love this to be able to walk around and make it feel more like a little town but keep in mind it does make it a little tougher to find parking in an area already hard to find parking. To me their pastries are 1000x more memorable than their other breakfast/lunch items but the food is definitely still good. It's just that if you want to really get something that WOWs you I'd go for the pastries. The almond croissant was OMG good!!! Perfect texture and flavor. Very warm and inviting space with the cutest furniture. Really transports you into the whole France vibe. Good to go solo, with someone, with a few people (it's a smaller and quaint space so keep that in mind for larger groups) read more

My aunt brought me here and I'm so glad she did! I don't go to many bakeries but this one seems like a very popular and high-end one. I wanted something light and sweet so I got the crêpe nutella and chocolat chaud (hot chocolate), both of which were yummy and satisfied my sweet tooth without a doubt. The staff seemed friendly and efficient and they gave a chocolat noir (dark chocolate) for each item I ordered. I'd say the prices are pretty reasonable, compared to other brunch locations especially near the beach. There is seating inside and outside. The place looks like a bakery inside as you'd expect but I like the outside seating area. read more

Fantastic Croissant's and Baguette's. The pleasant lady taking orders is very nice , this place is really clean and the line moves quickly. It looks like a bakery in France. The bread was perfectly baked with a perfect crust. The coffee is good and also the latte's. There is more to just baked goods. Great French bakery/coffee shop/ deli/ grocery store. We only tried desserts that were as French people like it / very rich but not too sugary. Very good. Since lockdown, I've been missing traveling, especially my last trip to France. We saw Moulin on Yelp and reallly wanted to try their pastry and desserts, and see for ourselves whether if it was as good as those I've had at the French countryside. Moulin is located in the heart of Laguna beach and it's hard to miss. They have a pretty large/wide store front so it's hard to miss, with a few spots outside where you can stop for a quick bite even when there's no outdoor dining allowed (please still practice social distancing esp when you take off your mask to eat!). We just went for the tried and true pan du chocolat, and the Cube chocolate to try their pastry and the dessert. I'd have to say that the pastries are definitely more on the expensive side, but of course not unexpected since it's an Orange County type of bakery. I wish they had asked whether if we had wanted the pastry warmed up, cause it really would've elevated it to the next level! Nonetheless, the chocolate croissant wasn't TOOO chocolatey, but was very indulgent still. There was chocolate sprinkled evenly in the bread and the pastry was very airy yet crisp on the outside. We haven't yet had the cube chocolat yet, but it is very delicate and have an incredibly thin layer of chocolate coating on the outside. I guess it is worth the price tag since I can imagine the delicate work required to put this dessert together. I can't wait for covid days to be over for us to try out this place again, dine in and try some of their kitchen items so we can get a better taste of France! read more

I visited this location today. It's located on Forest Avenue in downtown Laguna Beach. The inside is very cramped with limited seating so be sure to get there early in order to get a table. I ordered the quiche Lorraine and it was very delicious. The portions were large which I liked. If I comeback, I will definitely order the quiche Lorraine again. I highly recommend it. The salad, however, was too plain and lacked flavor. The prices were a bit high as well. read more
Came here for a quick brunch and I chose the veggie omelet. It was seasoned perfectly and well balanced with the side salad and toast on the side with the packaged apricot jam. Perfect spot to come for brunch and then a walk near the beach. Seating can be hard to get, place fills up quickly outside. Service was great. read more

HAVE BREAKFAST HERE This is the best café in Laguna Beach by far! Amazing interior and vibe with decor from France that captures your attention right away. The food itself was delightful; my omelette was savory and filling, my fiancé's sandwich satisfied her croissant cravings. The coffee was unfortunately not very good, same for the hot chocolate. It did not ruin our experience though. The service was normal, don't expect that personalized touch but a regular cashier. read more
I love the almond croissants here but I was a bit late today which is ok cause they have so many delicious pastries to chose from. Grabbed a cup of cappuccino and some pastries with my cousin to enjoy while taking a day off from this hectic life. We all need a day off for ourselves to unwind and do nothing but eat good food and relax at the beach. That's what we did today. And Moulin is the best place for breakfast and lunch. Delicious sandwiches, salads and more. I love their fresh bread and croissants. Great quality food. The staff is friendly and helpful. Lots of outdoor seating. read more

I have never been to france before, but I truly believe they brought a piece of the country to Laguna in this small shop. There were customers there speaking French, and I feel like if they are from France and they are eating/getting drinks here, it must be authentic!! I loved the decor and all the little snacks that originated in France. I got the almond croissant (bearclaw) and it was soooo yummy! read more
