Talk about finding something when you need it. I ran across this coffee shop on a day I was extremely overwhelmed and needed a break. My friend suggested we come here. It proved to be the perfect spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even though this is located in the Bronx it very much gave city vibes. Yes, this is a result of gentrification HOWEVER it was was very diverse, affordable, and welcomes the neighborhood culture.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitstaff was very polite and knowledgeable about everything on their menu and they actually take your orders to your table and clear table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even if you opt to sit on the roof.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend and I arrived around 12ish and did not depart until they closed at 4ish. While she got caught up on school work I was able to journal and collect myself. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We chilled the entire time on the rooftop. We were not rushed to leave, and we had free wifi.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I opted for an omelet and a butterfly pea lemonade. The food was not wow...but it felt light and fresh. Sounds weird but I felt like I was eating something good for me.

I appreciate the new restaurants in South Bronx that take a different approach to American fare, Mottley Kitchen definitely being one of them. I got the sausage + egg Sammie for breakfast, it definitely wasn't your typical sausage from any standard place as this one had beef & lamb in it- was a unique take & not for everyone tbh but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also had the butternut squash kale salad for lunch- I should've added a protein such as chicken along with it for it to be more filling but even without that it was nice for a light lunch. I really enjoyed the sourdough croutons with the squash- again, not for everyone but I liked it a lot. All in all, I really enjoyed Mottley Kitchen & their take on certain dishes, honestly found it quite innovative.

I really enjoy coming here as they got some really good dishes and this place is a gem in the neighborhood. I didn't give it five stars because some things I don't like but some are truly great. What you must try: A hot mocha latte Shakshuka Blt on sourdough Sausage egg and cheese Their cookies! What you can skip: Horchata latte Arnold Palmer Lemonades Cruffin The service is also really great and the vibes are cool. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You basically seat yourself and it's a good place to work from.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Def recommend.

This place looks a bit out of place when you compare it with the rest of the environment. I came by here because its the closest breakfast place within bronx region. The service is slow, its like a cafe type vibe, in a warehouse, trendy, and cute. Lots of space, and big table with chairs and benches can hold large parties or large groups. Their coffee is not bad! I had hibiscus latte with oat milk, and to my surprise (although came out a bit orange) its not bad. Their French toast comes with fruits. and their beef/lamb sausage omelette is delicious too with their special sauce. we also got a pistachio crossant which i didn't get a chance to eat but my boyfriend said it was delicious. there is street parking available but no parking lots.

Open dining area, the counter is full of appealing baked good items. Do we aware, their heater is broken today. It very much feels like you are eating outside and it was 44 the last time we checked too. You will need a warm drink while here for sure. We ordered an oat milk latte, New Yorker combo, apple cinnamon oatmeal, green goddess, spiced hot chocolate with extra hot chocolate and maple cruller. $53.58. The maple cruller is good, better warmed up. The New Yorker combo is good, the turkey bacon and the mustard give it some good flavor. The green goddess salad is okay, dressing doesn't have a lot of flavor to me. The Rye berry grain adds a nutty texture to the salad. The spiced hot chocolate is okay, even with extra chocolate, it's not very chocolatey and not getting any of the spices at all. I saw at the end of imbibing my drink that all or most of the dark chocolate settled and was stuck on the bottom of the mug. The large oat milk latte is super weak. Tastes like there may only be 2 espresso shots in the large cup, greatly insufficient for the size of it. The apple oatmeal really does taste like an apple pie oatmeal. Nice slices of real apple and cut apples too. The New Yorker combo was the better part of our lunch. The maple cruller and the oatmeal is worth a try. Service was an order and payment transaction. Service isn't their thing here at all.

After a few days in the city together, my friend and I stopped in for breakfast before parting ways. The vibe was cozy, relaxed, and welcoming, exactly what you want from a local coffee shop. The giant windows lend a ton of natural light, especially for place that almost needs to wait until midday for some sunshine. The bagels absolutely hit the spot: fresh, satisfying, and exactly what we needed. Nothing overly complicated, just solid, well-executed breakfast. They have pastries and sandwiches, as well, but your girl needed a real New York bagel before this trip was through. What really stood out for me, though, was the hot cider on special. It was warm, spiced just right, and comforting for a November morning. I could easily see this shop as a regular go-to of mine if I lived in the neighborhood.

Yes, a kale salad and a guava waffle. Stay with me. The salad is fresh, savory, and hearty, especially with the grilled chicken. Then comes the waffle--warm, slightly sweet, and topped with guava rum butter that melts into every little pocket. Oh my goodness. Taking a bite of the savory chicken and kale, followed by that soft guava waffle, gives me the perfect sweet-and-savory meal. It should not work as beautifully as it does, but it absolutely does. And the brown sugar latte? Always. It's smooth, comforting, and sweet without tasting like someone poured syrup into a cup and called it coffee. The space has the easy, unhurried feeling of a neighborhood coffee shop, but the menu is giving a real brunch experience. It's cozy and beautifully lit during the day--the kind of place where you can settle in and enjoy yourself without feeling rushed. The service matches that energy. Everyone is attentive, kind, and genuinely knows the menu. They always greet you with a smile and give you exactly the right amount of small talk: enough to make you feel welcomed, never so much that it interrupts your peace. The atmosphere, the people, and that guava rum butter keeps me coming back.

I ended up starving and looking for a place in the neighborhood for a breakfast sandwich. Rimar looked good from the outside, there were a bunch of banners announcing them as a "brand new" business having a "grand opening". Once inside, I realized that was probably not true. Looking around, I didn't see any coffee nor was there any kind of posted menu indicating the possibility of breakfast sandwiches. The man behind the counter was friendly enough though, and took my order for 2 bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on a roll. He also indicated that he DID have coffee. Great! While I was waiting in the store for 15 minutes for my order. I noticed a woman (maybe another owner) casing the place down and staring at everyone who entered. I noticed that the rest of the store sold only a bleak selection of junk food. There was nothing interesting on the shelves! I noticed a man and woman come in, have an entirely transactional conversation and then leave, buying nothing. I noticed two separate hipsters walk in, look around and then walk out. I waited and waited. Finally, my order was ready. Without any register or paper calculations, the man told me my order was $10 exactly. Not feeling too good about that. The coffee was super hot and actually ok, I think he brewed a fresh pot on my request (thank you for that). The breakfast sandwiches were pretty awful. Greasy eggs, strangely chopped and super greasy bacon, you get the picture. I think Rimar could really do much better.
