Cute, cozy space with unique furniture and lots of charm. Unfortunately, I didn't get to stay long enough to enjoy the ambience. I arrived around 4:30 pm to meet a friend for tea and was told the café closes at 5 pm to transition into their wine bar service. They offered to prepare tea to go, but I was hoping to sit and relax, so I ended up visiting their other location on 98th Street, which didn't seem to have the same strict time restrictions for tea service. Coffee is alright, location is fantastic. I didn't expect Latte to be so so frothy and pay 7.60 for it (6.90 plus tax). Nice to hang out indoor with the cute tables and chairs and huge window allowing sunlight to spill over inside or outdoors as the city wakes up. Just too expensive for the coffee quality. Service is nice, kinda difficult to hear each other over the loud music but the barista is great. read more

Sipsteria is a very popular spot with two locations in the area, one near the university and another farther downtown on the west side in the 90s. Both locations are cozy and inviting. The Morningside Heights location has a cool vibe that works well in every season. I always see people hanging out there throughout the day. In the mornings and afternoons there are plenty of people relaxing or working on their computers, which makes sense since it is close to the university. I stopped by to try some food and wine, and overall everything was good. The staff was friendly and efficient, which definitely adds to the atmosphere. The space is small but still feels roomy and comfortable. They did a great job with the design. When the weather is nice they also offer outdoor seating, which gives the place an even more relaxed feel. I know they sometimes host live music inside as well. The food from the kitchen is solid and the prices are very fair, especially for that neighborhood. It is easy to see why this spot is so popular and why people return. Thumbs up from me. Review is just for the food, as we only got dinner takeout. Overall we found the food to be a bit on the bland side. We got the mushroom khinkali , which was fresh but did not have a lot of flavor. Then the vegan flatbread, again good ingredients but lacked flavor. we also got the chicken skewers which was the best among everything that we ordered, the plum sauce saved the day. we used the plum sauce for the dumplings as well. I wish we had a lot of that plum sauce :D Over all definitely good quality food but fell flat. read more

Sipsteria is a lovely neighborhood gem! There is a lot of care and attention to detail in the menu, space, and service. I've only had the cappuccino so far, which I really enjoyed! The pastries look really delicious. Some people stay at the cafe to work, so it might be difficult to find a seat depending on the time. While perhaps not the ideal spot for large groups, it's still a great spot for a conversation or meeting with one to two others. It's such a cozy and inviting space that sparks creativity and joy. It's across the street from Morningside Park and a short walk from Sakura and Riverside Park, so it's the perfect spot to acquire a coffee and pastry for a walk when the weather is nice. I usually stay in Morningside Heights when I visit NYC and was thrilled this wonderful addition opened in the area. The ambiance is aesthetically spot on as well as being comfy. They have a unique selection of wines and tapas, many Georgian influenced and if you haven't had a glass of Georgian wine this is the perfect place to expand your palette. And they have Khacapuri, the only food word you will need to know. The owners, Giogi & Sophio are awesome. This is a must stop by spot. I only wish I was here longer to spend more time making my way through the menu. read more

A nice addition to the neighborhood, and conveniently located right by Riverside Park. The space is cozy, though a little cramped in the particular corner seats we were able to score. A friend and I both got lattes (his hot, mine iced). Both were good, just not quite as good as I'd hope for over $8. I didn't get to try any of the baked goods this time around, but everything looked amazing. I'll be back again to try some of those and to check it out as a wine bar. read more

I had a coffee-by-day / wine-by-night bar at my college and got so used to having a place to get a drink and get work done at all hours. Finally found a similar place in Morningside Heights! Delicious coffee and large selection of natural wines in an eclectic, colorful, and homey environment. Plenty of seating outdoors and indoors. Some wine selections by the glass are on the pricier side but coffee/pastries are very reasonable and they have a happy hour. I have a feeling I'll become a regular! read more

After reading a couple Google reviews, I wanted to write a small update. As usual, I went to Sipsteria to have my favorite Iced Sipsteria Latte, which comes out to $8.33 for a 16 oz. drink. After I finished it, I decided to sip on a personal bottle of juice I had brought when I was told by an employee that I could not drink it. I explained I had already purchased a drink, but he was adamant about me not drinking my juice. I ended up leaving a few hours earlier than I wanted to because I was put off by this. I understand if it was a huge meal, but a juice? None of the other employees had had any issue with me sipping on my juice until this one employee saw me. I wasn't planning on mentioning this until I saw another similar review on Google. I attempted to justify the $8.33 price because it's New York, but another Google review points out that the prices for these drinks across the board should be $1 less. Especially because I can get a 24 oz. of my favorite drink for $7 at my favorite coffee in LA. Heck, there are other quality coffeeshops serving 20-24 oz. drinks for $7-8 in NY. It was lovely visiting this establishment for the past month, but I'll be going elsewhere. read more

Sipsteria is a west Harlem's new place that transitions from a cozy coffee shop by day to a charming wine bar by night. During the day they serve delicious coffee and freshly baked pastries. Decor and ambiance is super important to me (I'm not alone). Their sitting area is tastefully furnished with chic decor which provides the perfect ambiance for people to work, read a book, or simply enjoy some people-watching from the windows (my favorite thing). Background music is always tasteful, not too loud either. After 5:30pm, Sipsteria turns into a sophisticated wine bar. Wine lovers can revel in a curated selection of Georgian (and other) wines accompanying with cheese and charcuterie boards. There's also selection of authentic Georgian finger food and even Acharuli khachapuri, aka cheeseboat. Don't miss their jazz sessions, they are amazing. Everything I have tried at Sipsteria was truly amazing. all of their baked goods are addictive. I had ordered second Almond Croissant since I was blown away with the taste. Ambience is phenomenal.
