There were no available appointments on the MVD website. A friend directed me to the Sabana Grande location's direct phone number. It was located on the city website. I know that with Covid going around, many operations are working on short notice. However, it would be easier if they could modify their appointment page or place a link there directing people to the correct website. Appointments are only made by phone and your response will be by a return phone call. The information I got on the phone wasn't entirely correct. The lady told me to bring a utility bill, but I actually needed two utility bills. Luckily, it wasn't a problem because they were able to accept the electronic version, so long as they were able to print it for me. The representative at booth #4 was very helpful and answered all of my questions. I learned about mistakes the previous MVD made regarding my eye exam. The wait was nonexistent, though, many years ago I went here and maybe there were a few people in front of me. I think having appointments might keep a place like this very efficient and relieve a lot of stress off employees. Certainly today, everyone there seemed to be happy with things and everything was going at a great pace. read more

I was amazed! I was in and out in a matter of minutes. Full service MVD. The staff were friendly.

Four tries to register and title a new vehicle. Each time I have been told to come back in a couple of weeks. The last time I went upon arrival I was informed they weren't honoring any appointments. I opened my phone and they were still booking appointments, but not honoring any of them. No forewarning whatsoever. read more

I find it surprising you can't walk I to the MVD to deal with your items without an appointment, but once we did they were great!! Very nice experience compared to CA!! read more

Would leave less than 1 star if possible. The absolute most rude, condescending and lazy employees I've ever come across. They truly hate their jobs and, it seems, their lives in general. Hateful, dishonest and incompetent. Literally left us standing there without completing the transaction because it was 'time for her lunch break'. She called the manager and the manager was EVEN WORSE! Please, if any of those employees read this, FIND A NEW JOB! Clearly this is too much for you to handle. read more

One of the most disrespectful people I've ever met, Barbara the manager. Moving to NM from out of state, I called 3x to set an appointment, all answered by Barbara herself. He has the audacity (caucasity) to disrespect my home state and saying "I should be happy I left because they're all crazy ". At the appointment I finally met her in person and the experience wasnt better. Shouldn't managers be the most kind out of all staff? Welcome to NM! I left my appointment and went to the express. The MVD EXPRESS took me right away and there's hardly any wait times! Please go there instead!! They get it done! read more

DMV's are notorious for long lines and slow service. I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of getting my license and my vehicle registration here. New Mexico prices sure do beat the high prices that we had to pay in California for the same products. read more

Omg, prepare to sleep before your number is called. Came in with a simple request and they were so slow. I needed to renew my DL. You get there then they tell you that the documents you have aren't good enough. I had their mail that shows they sent me a registration renewal and was told "we don't accept our own mail as proof of residency". REALLY, the state sent me the mail so it should be good enough for proof. I had to leave go sort through mail and come back. 3 long hours!! Then when you come back they still have issues. Have a line for easy items. Only one worker was nice the rest needed an attitude adjustment. One last thing - what's up with the Rio Rancho City fees on every transaction? read more

The City of Rio Rancho Motor Vehicle Division need an entire overhaul. There are 3 employees just wondering about not doing anything. 2 employees actually processing people. Been here since 10 am, I pulled 104. They are on 68, it is noon. On top of that, they charge a 'city fee'. What is this fee for? Hire more people and be more efficient, effective, and clear with people. Turn away people that do not have the required paperwork instead of letting them come and go to gather cash, bill, paperwork and holding up the line. This is poor city management at best. I will gladly pay MVDnow across the street for effectiveness. read more

I looked at some of the reviews and saw about making an appointment through the city site, thank you Elisabeth L. I also saw a lot of unhappy folks and their concerns. I'm happy to say I had an extremely pleasant experience. Miss Kathy was nothing but kind, helpful, and funny. I thought I was prepared but was missing one document and she allowed me to run back and get it, then still took care of me without making another appointment. It was by far a good way to start my day. Thank you, Kathy!! read more

The ladies here are kinda rude, but I guess I would be too if I worked at the DMV. Average wait time is about 30-40 minutes. You just gotta prep and know it's gonna suck. The youngest girl was a real piece of nasty work and the older lady, I just let her steamroll me to get it over with. She did know a lot about the different plates and suggested colors to match my car. Ha! I would have given them 3 stars but they took legit the WORST picture of me for my license that I have ever had taken of me. I mean...inexcusable. Sorry. read more

I walked in and picked a number from the automatic machine. Within two minutes they called my number and I went up to the window to renew my license. The gentleman behind window number five was an excellent employee! I'm sorry I can't remember his name, but I have never had such a good visit to a state run facility. Thank you! read more

Was a long wait to get a drivers license but having gotten an eight year license I hope not to have to return soon. Rio Rancho charges a $10 fee for providing the service and there was a $1.25 charge for using a credit card. read more

Motor Vehicle Division - Front of MVD - Departments of Motor Vehicles Near Me - Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Visiting the MVD is almost always a nightmare with long wait times, no one enjoys it. I did not expect to this visit either but my expectations were brought even lower whilst visiting the Rio Rancho location. Wait time is ridiculous and I believe there were only 3 people working the windows! There should be someone you check in with before you grab a number and waste your time to ensure you have the correct payment and all the information you need. I called before hand to ensure the amount that would be due. Never once was I told there would be an extra fee added to the original amount and that this had to be CASH only. So the primary reason I was there could be paid by card, no checks accepted. The other fee was cash only. Well, it would have been nice to know this before waiting 3 hours!! Finally 6 people away before they call my number and this woman comes out locks the doors and tells everyone what the cash only fees were for each of the different reasons you may be there. Several people were very upset obviously! I originally wanted to avoid the expensive fee's the MVD now or express but now I will happily just pay the extra to be in, out, done! It is well worth it especially since there are going to be added fees anyway. Plus the other locations, although not the best, have better overall attitudes and customer service. read more

I am having an emergency situation. I would like to pay by phone to have replacement SDL mailed to me. All my information is the same. I did go to the MVD yesterday but I left after they said I could get a replacement online. I took a photograph with gray lenses and completed the two questionnaires but then my application was deleted so that I could get online and use a better photograph. I had been waiting since April 11th for the MVD to reopen. The online application payment page does not work. So now I'm about to go into the state motor vehicle office to make the payment but I want to know if I'm going to be required take another photograph the third one or if I can use the original photo on file or the photo I took yesterday. Would someone from the Sabana Grande office call me at 505-974-8419. I cannot make a direct call Only Infoline. read more

Just Moved from AZ, Stoped by here to do our RV and truck registration. We got there after 3:00pm which we found out it was after 3:00pm VIN check deadline. One of the supervisors by the name Kathy (yes with the K) went above and beyond to help us checking the VIN on our RV so we don't have to take the 40+ foot trailer back the next day. We still had to go back for registration but it was nice that we didn't have to take the RV back again to do the registration. Thank you Kathy for making it a bid easier. read more

Horrible...i went to get an out of state title and the lady was very condecending..when i got to the window she told me .."didnt you read the signs.we dont do out of state titles without a vin inspection.and we dont do that here"..very rude...bt this time it was 330 and the one i needed to get to all the way in alb closed at 4..the bernalilo one closed at 330.. read more

DMV usually gets a bad rap and lots of complaints however I had a very good experience today. I needed to renew my driver's license so I arrived 10 minutes before they opened. When I arrived, there was already a line. When they opened I got the number 16 and was in and out in 45 minutes. The lady who helped me was courteous and friendly. She was efficient and helped me quickly. While I was waiting the supervisor came out and gave everyone information about needed documents so they wouldn't have to wait if they didn't have them. I thought it was a very positive experience. read more
