Most of the time they have exactly what we need and without fail there seems to always be someone available to help you find it as soon as you walk in the door without the endless searching on your own. My wife is happy to go here when we are in the middle of a project and realize we need more of or are missing something that we need to finish instead of having to stop and go elsewhere myself.

A woman made eye contact with me like she was waiting for me to speak and I asked her about where the potting soil was. She said "you think just because I'm black that I work here? We don't want your kind here, now get out." She was screaming at me. Customers do not make that kind of eye contact with other customers that is not normal. That's why I thought she worked there. I went back to the entrance of the store and talked to the store manager. I had them call the cops. I couldn't report the incident because they didn't get the other people information. After the police left, I went back to the garden center to get what I needed and I heard the store manager talking to the cashiers laughing and saying " yeah, right like we're going to give out our information" I will never return to any store in that area. But when I needed some hardware and had a meeting in Homewood, this was a suggestion by my wife. Most of the local places like this have been in their locations for years and are dated... which is part of the charm. This one however is either in a newer building or has been updated. But not knowing the history, I can't say for sure. The people inside were very helpful. Which was nice since I would have never found anything that I needed without Lewis and Clark. They mostly had what I needed. But I did notice some of the hardware drawers I looked in were bare. Luckily they had the quantity of the size toggle bolt I thought I needed (I ended up being wrong). All in all a pretty good experience.

Wow. Just wow. For more than 10 years my wife and I had trouble with our antique door knobs on our…read morefront door. The set screwa were too short and you can imagine the issues with the knobs pulling off. I tried lots of solutions including loctite blue which helped the screwa stay in placew, which helped, but never addressed the issue that the sets screws were simply too short (but we would have to get in a time machine to the 1940s to complain to the manufacturer) * A national hardware store had test openings that showed the screws were sized "1/4 - 20" but they didn't have the actual screws and the guy that was helping me said no one did * The owner of a mom and pop hardware store told me that longer set screws did not exist at all and that I needed to look at an antique store. He wouldn't even check * Then I went to Little Hardware at a Friend's suggestion.. I walked in and the guy who helped me introduced himself and shook my hand. He measured the set screw I had as "1/4 - 20" just like you he big retailer. He then immediately found matching sets screws that were longer (see photo). I had to buy a hex tool to entire I could connect the 4 screws on both knobs. The entire purchase was $15 but I would have paid a lot more to get these knobs right. And now, for the first time since we bought our old house I feel confident in our old door knobs Thank you Little Hardware -- I'm a customer for life!

Model: FF7012WN I bought this washer by one of the rudest sales people in any store I have ever experienced. The sales guy acted as if he was doing me a huge favor to show me the only front load Speed Queen washer. He lead me to believe it was the only front load Speed Queen that existed within the Speed Queen company. I was not informed that I only had 24 hrs to return it, which is an insane policy. It is the worst washer I have ever had. I did not realize until I used it the first time that the drum was quite small. I could no longer was quilts because it was so small. From the first wash until this day, it made more noise from any washer I have had before. And, the biggest problem of all with the washer is that it doesn't clean your clothes like it should. I tried to contact this store. No one ever answered the phone. Sometimes the voicemail worked. Other times it would not come on. No one EVER returned my calls. I spent over $3000.00 for the washer, tax and delivery. The men who delivered it and hooked it up were very rude too. I truly got a piece of junk. Model: FF7012WN

Returning customer, very disappointed…read more Our first experience at Alabama Appliance was excellent -- the salesperson was helpful, everything went smoothly, and we had no issues. Unfortunately, this second experience has been the complete opposite. If I could give zero stars for this visit, I would. We worked with Aaron, who was incredibly rude and unprofessional. His snarky attitude and lack of accountability were beyond frustrating. To make matters worse, the delivery was incomplete -- our $13,000 stove was delivered without the power cord and gas line, both of which were included in the purchase and clearly listed on our receipt. I have called multiple times, left messages, and even left a voicemail specifically asking Aaron to call me back -- no response. When I called again today, I overheard him tell the receptionist, "We can come back up there to pick it up or they can go buy the parts at their local store." For context, we live two hours away, one way, and paid for full delivery service, which included all necessary parts. Being told to now go purchase the missing items ourselves is unacceptable, especially after spending that kind of money. Aaron's attitude and lack of professionalism make him a liability to Alabama Appliance, and I would strongly recommend shopping elsewhere.
