We went around 5pm on a weeknight to buy molding for a project we were doing. I purchased over 300 feet of molding that all needed to be cut in small pieces. Chris and Donald went ABOVE and BEYOND and spent over 45 minutes cutting the wood for us. They were both so beyond helpful and kind and eager to help. This is obviously going to be a bad review. One Star says it all. I went into Home Depot for some insect home protection. It started out poorly. I needed to use the rest room. This is located in the back of the store. I used a stall for obvious reasons and found that there was no toilet paper. I waited for my neighbor to leave and the room to be empty to check that stall. No paper and the three other stalls were locked. I went to the sink to again obviously wash my hands. No soap and no paper to dry the hands. I am not expecting much. But this shows a lack of concern for clients. I go over it is caulking it up to a bad day for Home Depot. I had to find where the product I wanted was located. No one was available, helpful or insight for 10 minutes. We all wonder why the online shopping is doing so well. Here is a reason and it was not the first time. Very sad. read more

I seriously cannot explain how wonderful my experience at The Home Depot Hwy 280 was earlier this week. For the past few weeks my childhood dog has been fighting for his life, and what we all feared would happen reached it's fever pitch on Wednesday; We were advised to put him down as soon as possible. In the midst of freak sadness, I drove to The Home Depot determined to build a doggie casket - or, otherwise seen as, a simple wooden box. Walking through the doors, and back towards the lumber section, I quickly came to realize how little I knew about anything I was here to do. Which wood did I need? What hardware was necessary? Were my dimensions even right? I had no idea, so I just started wandering. Before I could stomach the thought that I should probably give up and just go home - I was approached by Austin S. Austin was incredibly nice and personable right off the bat, and quickly the conversation of my dogs soon-to-be passing came up. He showed me nothing but empathy and understanding. Without a second thought he dropped everything to help me not only finalize my dimensions, pick the best wood for the job, cut the lumber, and pick out hardware - BUT HE TOOK THE LEAD ON HELPING ME ASSEMBLE THE CASKET! It was service like I had truly never seen from an establishment, and I hope Home Depot never loses talent like Austin. To wrap up, he priced all the materials together and walked the fully built casket out to my car for loading. There is a younger-sounding guy in lumber at the 280 location who is so rude. You call and ask him questions and the tone of his voice is like you should already know the answers. I was asking about the pricing of lumber for a project. I guess if I'm not a contractor who knows every detail about lumber and I have a question, I should feel ashamed to call Home Depot and ask. Just a little common courtesy. He sounded like a snobby waitress from Mountain Brook. I then called back and kept trying to get through, and the guy finally answered, but just picked up the phone and laid it there and wouldn't talk. I could hear another associate say "He already called 3 times." Then they just hung up. I finally got someone to answer, a different guy, who mumbled a little, then without warning put me on hold without saying hold on a minute. The line kept being juggled around. I already am not a fan of national chains when it comes to home improvement box stores. But if I had to rank them, Home Depot would be my lowest. But alas, when you need a one stop shop, they are hard to avoid. Especially when buying power tools. Which is what I was doing. And they had a special I couldn't pass up. The downfall for this particular location when looking for power tools, getting someone to help you get it when its locked away. Ask one person "not my department". Go to customer service "we will have someone there shortly". None of which happened. Luckily my wife is much more level headed and patient and told me to go collect the other stuff we needed and she would find someone to make it happen. We had to wait for someone getting keys made long after we arrived to get a very un-knowledgeable person to finally just unlock the cage and still fend for ourselves on what we wanted. But oh boy, then it was time to get some chain cut. Wait, wait, wait, wait. A 15 minute trip turned into an hour. No one knew who the right person was to help. I almost took the bolt cutters that were there to make it happen. But again, a level headed wife made it her mission to find the right person. And after much perseverance, we finally got someone. But even the checkout didn't know how to handle the chain we just got. All in all, terrible Home Depot. read more

Poor experience. Went in last Thursday for a p/t job interview for weekends since I also work F/T. It was for a lot associate position. They were interviewing 5 people for a lot associate! I had the experience and used to do it P/t at their store in Pelham before I had to stop to take care of my wife outside of my F/T job because of her surgeries. Its now a week later and no response out of this store or HD corporate. I assume they selected someone else but you have an obligation that if you actually interview a person, to notify them with 2/3 days if you didnt pick them. I could really just copy my review from the other Home Depot I usually visit near the Galleria. I had an order to pick up and the process was seamless! Some other retailers could really learn a thing or two from Home Depot. Seriously! I also had to actually shop for a piece of hardware to make a repair to a French door at home. I was easily able to find an employee who helped me find what I was looking for. He walked me over to the correct aisle and pointed out a few options that could work for what I'm trying to do. Overall, I had nothing but great service from Home Depot and they have very reasonable prices so that's why I have been in there so much recently! This Home Depot is just like any other. The selection is pretty standard. I will say that they always seem to have most items in stock. I've never run into an issue where the item wasn't there. It also helps that their website tells you exactly where to find the items I need. The customer service is the beat part. Most of the people here are always willing to help and really sweet. They also have a self checkout aisle that makes it easy to go in and out if you only need something small. Overall a really great store and right on 280 so convenient location if you live around that area. read more

This Home Depot is super convenient to where I live. I have been able to find everything I need from light bulbs to plants to laundry detergent to key copies every time at a reasonable price. This has been the worse customer service I have ever experienced in a retail store setting. The sales staff are great and have always been nothing short of helpful. But when it comes to the management staff, they are lacking in customer service, they do not respond to customers in a reasonable time frame and the head store manager is highly defensive when you bring this to her attention. After 7 days of waiting for a proper response from either the department manager or the store manager, I had to submit a 2nd complaint to the Customer Care group at their headquarters in Atlanta before I received a proper response from the manager. By the way, the first time I called the store's customer service desk and asked for the Customer Care office number, the sales person put me on hold and transferred me to the store manager. This after having been told that the manager was not in the store when I first requested that I speak with her. It appears to me that the store manager spends more time hiding in her office instead of making sure that the sales team is knowledgeable and empowered to make decisions in the best interest of customer service. It is a shame and a travesty. I do not plan to spend my money with Home Deport anymore. So that you will not have to be blocked from receiving the service you deserve like I was, the Customer Care number is 1-800-654-0688. Because this is issue #3, I am in the process of writing a scathing letter to Customer Care with a copy made to their leaders in the area of Business Development and Store Operations. read more

Let me just tell you a little secret: They have Christmas stuff here - and FOR A GOOD VALUE, I might add. This year, we decided to go light on the pcoketbook for Christmas decorations - And I found just about all I needed at my local HD. They have fresh trees of a variety of sizes, wreaths, garland (two kinds), swags (yes - swags!), beautiful pine arrangements, and that's just the fresh stuff. They also have a great assortment of ornaments, lights, tree stands, and other decorations. My HD does carry the Martha Stewart brand, and some of those things are just cute as can be. Who knew?!? Before I get bent out of shape because I need JUST ONE MORE STRAND of lights for the tree and nobody has them - I'm going straight to the HD! read more

Yesterday when buying a 6' ladder, the first employee I asked for help kept walking, saying "I've got to check in." The second said "That one will probably work, just be careful" before she walked away. I finally got the ladder off the pegs where it hung but with a lot of difficulty. As I was carrying the 6' ladder to check out I passed at least 6 male employees without a single offer to help (I am a 110lb 64 year old female). At check out, it was ALL self service. This was on a very slow Thursday morning. No more Home Depot... Lowe's has my business from now on!! read more

Customer service? Nil. My wife and I walked into the store, passing a few registers on the way, and nary a word of greeting was said. We wandered a little while, trying to get our bearings and find the lumber, but we couldn't ask anyone where that department was because we didn't see anyone. Once we found the lumber and picked out the moulding we needed, there were still no orange aprons in sight, and we discovered that this funny looking cart behind us was a cut-[it]-yourself station, complete with short, dull handsaw and tape measure. After sawing eight sixteen-foot lengths of quarter round in half to fit in our Volvo, we still had seen no signs of life in the store (apparently the folks in charge of the radio station had also fallen off their post, because whatever it was that was playing was obnoxious). When we had finished, we toted our moulding to the register nearest the door--and guess what: nobody was there either. We got a bored, disinterested look from an employee behind the customer service desk (obviously that wasn't its true purpose in this Home Depot), and after we'd been standing there unhelped for a moment, he deigned to schlep himself around the counter, only to spot the cashier meandering our way, deferring to her with a "She'll take care of you," as he resumed what must have been a fascinating conversation. We checked out with our items and didn't quite exhaust the gift card we were using, but that was okay, it found a place in the trash can outside the door, a casualty of completely inept customer service. Zero stars or half a star may have fit this better. It was really that bad. read more

A great store for home improvement projects. This location is nice and always clean. The workers we've encountered have been very helpful and knowledgable! We've purchased our first gas grill here for a great discount, supplies to build our first garden, and a lot of the plants we needed for our garden. They also offer a military discount, but it has always been our one stop shop for home improvement projects. They haven't failed us yet! read more

I bought a dryer from Home Depot at the Festival Center in Birmingham Alabama and I paid for the installation and the extras that were required for the installation. The dryer was delivered and installation included removing the old dryer and hooking the new dryer up to the exhaust vent...that didn't happen. They did not hook it up to the vent. The dryer was venting into the house. I called home depot, they sent out work men who insisted on being paid more, I said I had already paid for installation. Finally they sent out a man who explained that the dryer was not correct for the space or the vent...I said it should never have been left at the house then if it can never be hooked up to the side vent, they agreed but did nothing. One of the work men asked to borrow some duck tape and he taped the exhaust hose to the vent...the tape has since popped off and the dryer is venting into the house again. Needless to say the humidity has caused damage to the floor and all kinds of stuff to grow in the laundry room that wasn't there before. It's been 9 months that the dryer has been venting into my 87 year old father's house. Home depot continues to make promises. Just last week I went to the store with my pictures of the duck taped vent and the manager told me that it will be correctly installed or removed...that was the last I heard from him. I have been in contact with them over this 9 months and they are ignoring me.....I guess I will have to buy a new dryer from a more reputable business and have it installed by a professional. read more

horrible experience with kitchen counter tops and install not even started- ordered counter tops and was told install would be "couple to 3 weeks" (advertise install is 10 days after full payment) but i could live with that- it's now been 5 weeks and do not have an install date yet- went to store to complain to store manager and was told "i can not help you there are a lot of other people in the same position as you are"- what a joke for a store manager to tell someone-i asked why home depot is still selling a product and advertising 10 day install when home depot is aware of major problems with the install sub that they have and was told that was just the way it works and nothing could be done- i do drive a pickup truck and i can and will put a large sign in the bed advertising the facts of this problem and drive all over Birmingham AL to show how displeased i am with the way home depot has handled this problem and the fact home depot is guilty of false advertising with their 10 install after full payment- my counter tops were paid in full when i walked out of the store in Inverness Al read more
