I seriously cannot explain how wonderful my experience at The Home Depot Hwy 280 was earlier this week. For the past few weeks my childhood dog has been fighting for his life, and what we all feared would happen reached it's fever pitch on Wednesday; We were advised to put him down as soon as possible. In the midst of freak sadness, I drove to The Home Depot determined to build a doggie casket - or, otherwise seen as, a simple wooden box. Walking through the doors, and back towards the lumber section, I quickly came to realize how little I knew about anything I was here to do. Which wood did I need? What hardware was necessary? Were my dimensions even right? I had no idea, so I just started wandering. Before I could stomach the thought that I should probably give up and just go home - I was approached by Austin S. Austin was incredibly nice and personable right off the bat, and quickly the conversation of my dogs soon-to-be passing came up. He showed me nothing but empathy and understanding. Without a second thought he dropped everything to help me not only finalize my dimensions, pick the best wood for the job, cut the lumber, and pick out hardware - BUT HE TOOK THE LEAD ON HELPING ME ASSEMBLE THE CASKET! It was service like I had truly never seen from an establishment, and I hope Home Depot never loses talent like Austin. To wrap up, he priced all the materials together and walked the fully built casket out to my car for loading. Thank you, Home Depot Hwy 280 - thanks to you my precious pet will be honored exactly the way I had hoped. This will never be forgotten!

This is not my normal Home Depot l, but I was in the area and needed some vole/mole repellent for my yard. Those darn critters! Anyways, I went to the right section, but couldn't find exactly what I needed. Thankfully a guy in an orange apron was nearby, and pointed me in the right direction, but also gave me suggestions on which product to use (powder vs spray). I normally have to chase employees down at these types of stores, but not this time! Happy customer!

Storefront

Quit making your employees asking for a review on the receipts. Makes people not want to come back once after checking out. Very annoying

I placed a mobile order for pickup curbside. I had my items brought out within 5 min! I was pleasantly surprised!

Also Sherry is the best at checking customers out with my military discount! Kevin the section Manager talks to me all the time and ask me how things are when I shop at Lowe's. I was in there everyday for 2 weeks working on my project at home. I had 60 ft of length by 15fr wide to make look pretty. I live in Greystone Farms. Say and Nassim helped me laid the truck everytime. Great support! It was a massive project and I did all of it myself except drilling the railroad cross ties in the ground. I moved them 60ft! LOL. 50 bags of 50lbs of Mulch as so much more. I quit going to the other place because Lowe's employees are so nice and knowledgeable. Ask for Kevin the Manager! Sherry is the best! Say and Nassim loads the stuff up. There are others but I don't remember their names!! Thank You Lowe's!! A few pictures of this massive DIY landscape. Salute!!

I was informed that their truck broke down so they had to reschedule it for 4-27. I understand a truck issue, but I thought 6 days was a little long. Nobody showed up on 4-27 so I contacted them on 4-28. They said they had to reschedule the delivery to 4-30 between 8:00am and noon. On 4-30 I called the store around 3:00 for an update. I was put on hold and finally hung up after holding for 10 minutes. It is almost 5:00 so I called them again and was told the order had not even been loaded. I said, so it will be delivered tomorrow? The answer, I guess so. It will be interesting to see when I finally get the order.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Coosa Valley Milling & Hardware store in Wilsonville. Most of you may not know…read morethis, but those really fabulous McEwen grits that all of your favorite downtown posh restaurants use??? The grits that you buy from the nice man at Pepper Place on Saturday mornings??? Well, they come from Coosa Valley Milling in Wilsonville - And that nice man is the owner, Frank McEwen! Take a little afternoon drive down 280 some day, take a right on 25 and follow it till you get to the mill and store. Inside, you'll most likely be greeted by none other than Frank McEwen, the owner (that nice man at Pepper Place)! Sometimes his boys are there too. OK, I'll admit it, I grew up in the city (San Francsico, St. Louis, Atlanta, NYC, back to Atlanta and then ... BHAM) - Birmingham is the smallest city I have lived in. Ever. To say the least, it took a lot for me to move to MT Laurel from my cozy loft on 2nd Avenue N. It was really quite far (fortunately, I have been able to cut off about 20m on my trips to Atlanta living down here tho!). So ... going to Coosa Valley for the first time was quite a TRIP. Literally. It was quite a ways down 280 and when I got there --- wow! Was I in for a treat. My pups needed some food - Coosa Valley Milling carries this great food that the owners of World Class Kennels (http://bit.ly/myYELPofWCK) recommended. So I thought, well, I need some grits, and I gotta go get some of this dog food, so off I went. Here's the FUN PART: They have chicks in there. Little baby chicks in a little case. So you can raise your own chickens for fresh eggs and stuff. Can you imagine it? The idea of chickens in your own back yard for the freshest eggs you've ever had is really sweet. I came "this close" to getting some of those little babies! And the man there took the bag of dog food to my car! Who would do that at the PetSmart? Nobody. And grits? Well! I had no idea that they were packaged in 2 lb bags. I thought they just came in those cutsie blue bags I got at the Farmer's Market (oh - and they're cheaper down at McEwen's place than at Whole Foods too)! And popcorn (it's a MILL, y'all - they're known for their grits - They mill corn!) the best popcorn you will ever taste! and jams and jelly (even that green kind - not really sure what that is, but they have that too - you're supposed to put it on a cracker with cream cheese or some odd thing!). And I got that special dog food too! :-) THIS IS A SLICE OF LIFE! Go. For no other reason than to say you went to a real live mill!
