Too to bottom: Sauces, pulled pork, original sausage, turkey, ribs, and brisket.
Josh W.

We decided to try this new addition to Princeton and we were pleasantly surprised! From the friendliness of the owner to the taste of the food, this really is a place you need to try. We didn't get any sides, since we have three kids who don't like normal bbq sides, but we got a 1/2 pound of 5 different meats and I will break them down one by one. Pulled pork: maybe the best pulled pork I have had since moving down to Texas. It was pulled to perfection and it really packed some good flavor. Paired with either the sweet or original sauce, it didn't lose its flavor and made a super good bite. Sausage: this sausage was my wife's favorite of the bunch. It has a kielbasa flair to it, and was super good on its own or paired with their sauces. We really got a lot of it. My kids really liked it as well (which is saying something if you know them). Turkey: My only complaint was that it was dry. Flavor was on point and paired with the sauces you could barely tell. Ribs: we were split on these but my son and I both agree these were pretty dang good. I loved the rub they put on them (way better than the Traeger rub I used on mine last week). My wife didn't like the texture, as they were not fall off the bone. These definitely had a tug on them, but were really meaty, and the flavor was SO good. I am a big stickler for ribs as so many big chains can't seem to get them right. These were done right. I am also jealous of their rub. Brisket: this was my sons favorite. I will omit my thoughts here as I am not a fan of brisket (at all) so it isn't super fair for me to judge. Everyone else loved it. My son REALLY loved it. Most of that half pound is in that 6 year old stomach right now. Overall, they had something for everyone. They were friendly, relatively quick (since it is one guy in there and we ordered a bunch) and best of all DELICIOUS! Not to mention we spent half of what we would a couple miles down the street (you all know who I am talking about). Thank you for bringing your talents to Princeton. We will be back!

Baked potato with little meat and an oz of sauce

Pretty sure the great reviews are the result of small town small business support. I've never had a spud from a BBQ joint that wasn't stuffed to the brim with meat and only enough sauce to drizzle on top. Lackluster. Also, I watched the guy chopping the brisket to prep the potato and he discarded the fatty ends BBQ blasphemy. If you're gonna get a potato with meat just order the spud alone and order the .5lb of meat on the side, you'll make out better in the long run. And get extra sauce because the bland potato to topping ratio gets really boring after a few bites. Also tried the jalapeño sausage... again, not terrible, not great. Springy and tender, but salty and not much spice. They didn't give me enough sauce to have with it, only the potato drizzle one ounce (cup holds 2oz) cup. Not sure if the spicy sauce is really even spicy, gets too drown out in the potato. Prefer Redwines just a couple more miles down 380.

The menu

For a nice price that won break the bank you will enjoy wonderful Food that's delicious and filling. The $5 pull pork sandwich sounds like a grab and go snack but you will want to sit this one down enjoy this packed sandwich fully.

My husband and I had never been to a BBQ joint quite like this before. At first, we were looking around like, "Is this a buffet?" Lol The restaurant has a really cool Western BBQ feel, and you can smell the BBQ smoking before you even walk inside. The meat is weighed by the pound, and we ordered brisket, baked potatoes, creamed corn, green beans, and a brisket-stuffed pepper wrapped in bacon. One of the coolest things is that if you eat inside the restaurant, dessert is FREE! They had peach cobbler, banana pudding, and ice cream. The brisket was AMAZING, and so were the creamed corn, green beans, peach cobbler, and those bacon-wrapped stuffed peppers! We really enjoyed everything we tried. This was such a fun experience and some seriously good BBQ. I can't wait to return!

This has been my must go to twice a year when I visit a friend in McKinney for quite sometime now…read more What started out as the most amazing barbecue I've ever had has unfortunately come up short the last two times I've been there. Back in March I excitedly went to enjoy my usual brisket sandwich and green beans to find out they changed those to an entirely different recipe. Greasy and over powered with bacon and sweetness ruined what once was the best side they had there. Upon my most recent visit back two weeks ago I was hoping to find that they maybe realized they had made a mistake and went back to the original green beans but unfortunately that was not the case. Still those nasty greasy green beans. Eww! Also, my brisket sandwich this time was a no go. I asked for the lean cut but had to pick it apart to remove all of the fat in it which then made the bun super soggy. I was so disappointed again :( I'm not really sure what changes are being made and why but some things just need to stay the same. If it's not broke, don't try and fix it...

When I pulled up to the restaurant I loved the building. It had character and looked rustic and charming. It had the cozy and comfortable feel of a small local McKinney restaurant. I was happy it had a parking lot. I walked in and loved the atmosphere. It was nicely decorated and the color scheme was perfect. It had a good energy feeling and welcoming vibes. The name of the restaurant is fun! I decided to try lunch as the reviews were looking good on YELP! The presentation of the food was great. I ordered the rib plate and a burger to share. However, everything minus the salad lacked seasoning and flavor. The ribs were cooked nicely that's the positive thing. The negative is the ribs were so bland and the sauce wasn't good enough in my opinion. I brought them home and added my own sauce which helped me eat them. The burger was juicy and had the perfect fixings, but again no flavor. I doctored it up with extra ketchup and onions. I decided no fries with my burger and substituted for a house salad. The salad was AMAZING. I swear salads are tasting better than real food and protein these days . For my sides on the rib plate...The coleslaw was blah no flavor. The potato salad was equally as bad. The potato chunks were so hard. They probably needed to cook the potatoes a bit longer. I really wanted to send it all back minus the salad. However I decided to make the best of it All experiences aren't good. Now kudos to my waitress as she was great. She was friendly and helpful Her demeanor was very pleasant. So 5 STARS for the ambiance and service! 2.5 STARS for the food. Salad was the star and gets 4 STARS alone. I was hoping this would be a new local favorite. However, food is most important for me and this wasn't a winner. I would come back and try cocktails, but no food. I did like the environment.

The cooks know what they are doing. But just keep in mind that this is on a farm in the middle of Princeton Texas. And there were flies EVERYWHERE. You will see them fly and land and walk around all over the uncovered food. All of them. And nobody cared. So note to self. Lechon is $20 a pound. When I was there they maxed at 2 lbs per person. Some people called ahead. But be informed with their process on their Facebook page. Grilled squid was my favorite. It was $20. Not all options they pictured on their Facebook page that they stated were available actually are. I was looking forward to some pork blood stew and some barbecue pork on a stick and they didn't have any even tho it was mentioned that it would be there. Their process is not efficient as of yet so it takes a while to actually order and then pay for your food. So if you are in a rush- this is not a good idea.
