Their menu is simple with only a handful of options but I honestly prefer going to a place where they master their menu rather than try to do it all. The vibe inside is really cool and cozy. The vibe that Motel West emulates is a modern country vibe. The menu and fonts they used are adorable but lack cultural significance that usually comes with these kinds of places ! Seating is pretty poorly done, the inside of the restaurant was BOILING hot...we literally requested to sit outside because of how humid it felt inside. It seems not well ventilated and so the cooking was adding to the heat indoors. Seats were all different and lacked consistency in furniture choices. After seating, our waitress got to us pretty late. Waters didn't have ice which I think is a poor choice in ANY establishment. Cooled water gets to be room temp fast !!! Our food took a LONG time to come. I ordered the Rajas burrito with pollo, which came to about $12 before tax...an expensive burrito ! The chicken used in the Rajas burrito is the same chicken from a different burrito - as the waitress told me. They only have ONE type of grilled chipotle chicken that they just add into everything, which I view as a lazy course of action. My burrito came and I found myself disappointed by the size. For a $12 burrito and a 20+ minute wait ? Not worth it ! However, the flavor was well done and the cheese + beans came to be very creamy. They provided a "hot sauce" which tasted more like a sweet mango-y salsa. My burrito was also poorly wrapped and fell apart as I ate it but watched my friends who had tightly wrapped burritos enjoy their meals. So the inconsistency is disappointing, especially for the time that it seemingly took for the food to be made. Overall, I think this is an overly americanized Mexican place. It's like a missionary came home from the south americas and wanted to bring "culture" to Utah. It's disappointing to see the small portions for bigger prices. Service was poor and our waitress rarely checked in other than to drop off a jug of water for us to self-poor our cups. (Which I didn't see done for the table next to us. So I believe this was a lazy choice on our waitresses part.) Though the business seemed busy, the food, service, and overall atmosphere were lacking. They changed things up a bit so just fyi! You no longer order individual tacos - but you can get a plate of 4 of the carne asada or the carnitas. This place is such a vibe! Super cute aesthetic and branding, merch, decor. Tucked away in Orem. My partner loved his carne asada tacos, and I got a bean and cheese burrito. It wasn't a warm burrito - the cheese wasn't melted in my burrito, and my first couple bites were all cold cheese, no beans. But it was good and kept me full for most of the day. The tortillas were delicious and so was the green salsa that came with it. They have a very limited menu, and the menu online was different and had a few more items on it than the menu in person. Staff was friendly, we had to wait a little bit for our food but it wasn't a negative thing at all, we didn't even notice that we had been waiting a while and the staff brought us a drink to apologize. There was only one guy handling everything (taking orders, clearing tables, getting tortillas and salsa orders out) so I had to wait about five minutes to order, even though I was the only one in line. It started getting busy right after I got there, and the place had a lively vibe. The menu is super limited, with only two kinds of tacos and no specials. I ended up ordering six tacos, which came out to $40. I got the carne asada and pollo tacos. It's definitely on the pricey side (especially if you're a big eater) The atmosphere was nice, clean, and kind of rustic. I liked that you could see into the kitchen and watch them make the food. Between the two, the carne asada was way better. The pollo tacos didn't have much flavor and were a little dry. The carne asada tacos were fresh and had a unique flavor, but 2/4 carne asada tacos I ordered were missing the leeks which was disappointing... The first is basically a chopped up tomato, with a little onion- no salt or lime juice. The second is the same salsa but pureed. My son said his bean and cheese burrito tasted bitter and the burrito wasn't warm and the cheese was not even melted. He says the beans were not seasoned but the rice was decent.
