Miguel on his second day at this motel 6 was extremely rude. I called to extend my stay and he rudely said I needed to do it by 11a. He was very cold and needs customer service training/another line of work. I did not extend stay because he was so stern and rude. read more

For the love of anything that's decent do not stay here! This is the most ghetto motel you can ever find in the face of the planet. We should have taken heed when we walked into the office there was several arguments by the clerks and patrons. The room we stayed in smelled of rotting decay...it was damp and masked by strong industrial cleaner odors. I was hungry when i got there thinking of food but when I walked in the room I was ready to gag. On the way to our room we were greeted by a lady looking for Jose or whomever...she reeked too, she tried to proceed with a conversation with us with her missing teeth..from meth abuse, who knows..I can honestly say that's the first time I've ever been scared of a woman.. The sheets..oh i don't know what went on with those sheets but I wasn't invited to that party, thank god....my buddy woke up to notice a nice little TICK embedded on this back. Probably from one of the transients that stayed there..it was the nastiest thing I ever saw. The little sucker buried itself so deep that when i plucked it out with a tweezer the head broke and only the body came out...horrific! read more

Tucked in cozy right now at Motel 6 and pleased with my motel choice. I'm on a road trip and wasn't sure where I would be at sunset as I don't like to drive alone at night. So when I pulled into Eureka I pulled over and checked out lodging options on Yelp. All that I initially called had no vacancy. Motel 6 was my last choice. I have stayed in some not so nice "notels" in my day and did not hold out much hope. I was pleasantly surprised. The front desk clerk was efficient and professional. My room faced the rear of property and very quiet. Room has "wood" floors - no carpet- which I love! Shower is a one piece prefab which pleased me as there are no nasty nooks and crannies. Also an arched shower curtain rod which I like as I hate brushing up against or touching a foreign curtain. Very clean room IMO . Seems recently remodeled. I guess I just got lucky as I read other reviews. Eureka Natural Foods a block away as well as Walgreens. I give four stars for it is a decent motel as far as motor lodges go. read more

Motel 6 Eureka - My in-room picnic after a long day driving. - Hotels Near Me - Eureka, California

I had every intention to give Motel 6 the benefit of the doubt despite all the bad reviews... The only saving grace was the lady who checked me in. She had 4-6 customers (not all pleasent) checking in and had multiple phone calls but she was extremely calm and collected. She was impressive. 1. Dirty - the first room I went to had never been cleaned. The sheets were all soiled and the window was wide open. I didn't even go in. - the sheets had somebody's hair on it and maybe snot or sweat on it. When I called the night clerk, she was kind enough to let me know she didn't have any sheets. I had to ask if she expected me to sleep on dirty sheets? She replied that she would call the manager if I wanted. When I finally got sheets I had to change my own bed.... - towels were dirty. One looked like it had a previous blood stain and the other, I don't know what was on it. Yikes! When I got new towels she had just smoked so my top towels reaked of smoke. - the toilet had stains on the seat. 2. Parking is a bear. There is only parking facing the front of the building. 3. Safety - half the rooms face the neighbors walls. Leads for safety issues. 4. Air - when I arrived, the window was shut. There is no forced air so it was HOT in the room - the smell was raunchy. I almost brought my air freshener from my car that I had just bought to hang in the room. I am sure I am missing stuff but that's all I can remember before I have to change my own sheets... read more

I generally stay at Motel 6 properties because I often travel with a dog, and you can generally count on the property being clean. I've stayed in this Motel 6 in the past and never encountered problems. My problem this time is the cancellation policy. I booked via Hotels.com and on the site, it says clearly that cancellation is free. I scoured the listing and felt confident booking because I haven't been feeling well and suspected I might have to cancel my plans. Which I did end up doing. I guess should have studied the listing more carefully because they charge for a night's stay if you cancel 24 hour (or less) out. To make things worse, the normal $65 rate ballooned to $112 for the holiday weekend, so that's what I have to pay, because of course they'll NEVER fill a vacant room during a the 4th of July weekend on the coast. (yes, that's sarcasm.) Poorly played. There are other properties to stay at in the area. read more

We checked in at 915pm they gave us a room we walked upstairs and someone else was in the room. We finally received a room which the outside door area stunk like cigarette smoke, we thought we could bare it but at midnight we decided to leave Motel 6. Front desk would not give us a discount since we stayed longer than 30 minutes. The room looks nice but it us very small. Exhaust fan in restroom dis not work the restroom had a terrible old smell The rooms are very small not good for family, very noisy, if your a single adult perhaps this is the place for you but certainly not suggested for families i will never stay at a Motel 6 read more

Ran down. Old linings with holes. No microwave, no coffeemaker, not even alarm clock. Wasn't cheap either - we paid $89 per night. The only reason we were staying there was that it was graduation weekend at Humboldt State and everything else was booked solid six month in advance. read more

I don't get some of these reviews. I mean, it's the fucking Motel 6. It's not going to NOT be a shithole. If you want something nice, go somewhere with a deposit. Sheesh. My friends and I stayed here after an extended camping trip to and around the Klamath River. it provided exactly what we craved - a shower and two beds, that which we had been without for weeks. They are pet friendly as well, so my dog was welcome. At some locations there is a $10 fee for pets, some not, as I understand. Nothing unusually creepy or strange happened while we stayed here, and the giant hulk of a man who stands watch o'er the parking lot made me feel like my car was safe, which I've heard can be something to worry about in Eureka in general. All in all I was pleasantly surprised how effortless and affordable ($45) it was. Don't hate, appreciate! read more

For the love of God - do not stay at this motel. I realize it's not supposed to be a 5 start hotel and that you pay for what you get. This place, however, is terrible. We stayed here because we'd been on the road 12 hours and Motel 6 allows pets. Here's a run down of our one night. *Ice Machine broken *Air Conditioner or Fan - None *Spilled some water on the carpet and blotted it with a towel. White towel came away black. We never took our socks off at that point *Towels so worn you could see through them. Like sandpaper on your skin. *Pillows like scruffy dry sponges with covers so thin you can see the stains beneath them. Now for the worst part. People live at this hotel full time and are buying, selling and doing drugs at all hours of the night. We were on the first floor and saw people in their cars shooting up and suspicious looking people wandering around. They'd walk up to someone, chat, exchange something and then walk away. It was so obviously a drug deal and so many people doing it, we actually felt fearful of our safety. We slept maybe 3 hours before we couldn't handle it anymore and left. When I got home I sent them a long letter telling them they really needed to overhaul that place and asked for a refund. UPDATE: We got an apology "stock" email attachment from Motel 6 that wasn't even signed by a real person. I wrote back and complained that their customers deserved a little more than just some automated message. They also declined our refund saying it had to come from that Motel specifically and corporate could not intervene. When I said that was bull*** they sent us a coupon for a free night ...and we promptly threw it in the trash. read more

First time to eureka motel was easy to find clerk was hospitable room wasn't to bad either nice stay

This place is a dump. They do not clean you rooms but tell you they did. Also they don't give you any soap or shampoo like a real hotel. I had to go ask for it and all they would give me was hand soap. So don't expect to be clean unless you bring your own stuff. They may leave the light on for you but the service is about what you would get in a homeless camp. read more

This place was terrible I don't recommend. Didn't get a other room or a refund. Came into the room the sink and fridge was dirty the table had a stain like it wasn't wiped. Stain on the bed. This motel is garbage. The first room smelled so disgusting--like cigarettes mixed with dirty, unclean, mustiness--and had long black hairs all over the bed and pillows. I asked for another room and it also smelled bad, this time marijuana not cigarettes and sure enough more long black hair on the bed. Under the bed was horrific and covered in dust bunnies, trash, and filth. The whole floor was dirty but not as bad as under the bed. The front desk agent could not have cared less either. This place is the opposite of hospitable. You could not pay me to stay here! TRASH. read more

My best friend and I take a road trip every summer so we have stayed in our share of cheap motels and all we ask for is a clean, safe place to sleep at night. This is one of the worst places we have stayed. First when we arrived I was informed that our prepaid handicap room had been given to someone else. We made due with what they had available. There were cigarette burns on the comforter and sheets and the room smelled like cigarette smoke. The floor turned my feet black and we quickly learned to wear shoes at all times. There were multiple shady characters and suspicious "exchanges" in the parking lot. There was a pile of cigarette butts outside our door and we could hear people at all hours of the night outside our room. We never saw a maid during our two night stay which makes sense given the room was disgusting. We did NOT feel safe and felt dirtier after we left than we we arrived. read more

Room was disgusting but at 3am and every other rooms sold out in the town my best friend & I had no choice but to stay the night. There was dried blood & shit on the bathroom door. Comforters had foot prints on them like someone freshly stepped on them with mud on their boots. My best friend killed a cockroach in the bathroom. We documented all this disgustingness with pictures. Upon showing the manager & the front desk staff we were talked down too & given a small discount on the $85 night ( 6 hours total we stayed there) purchase price. Upon speaking with the only redeeming staff member, the guy in charge of laundry that day, he informed us the staff is given a total of 28mins to clean each room. But the manager encourages them to do it in 20! Less then a half hour for a 100+ rooms! Sorry Motel 6 leave the light off! Treat your customers with respect & remember you are there to give great customer service not attitude. I'd do zero stars if I could. Plus watch out for the homeless encampments in the corner of their lot, they scope cars looking to ones to break into. PS: Dustin deserves a raise he is the only redeeming employee this location has! read more

Decent motel, we did book ahead of time but since we were hiking all day, they couldn't confirm our reservation so we ended up with a smoking-permitted room, which wasn't too bad. I'm just sensitive to smells. Motel was mostly clean but floors were slightly sticky and there were some small stains on the bedspread, but everything else was good. read more

Our room was dirty and reeked of cigarettes. It was a non-smoking room too. There was hairs in the bed, toilet, and shower. The floors were dirty and looked like they had not been swept. Blankets were stained, not sure if dirty or not. I am not picky with my rooms or hotel, all I care about is that it is clean! I was very disappointed as we have stayed in other Motel 6 properties with no issues. I also paid outrageous amount of money for a Motel 6 ($350 for 2 nights) due to graduation weekend, you would think it would be clean at least! Never again! read more

My first stay at any Motel 6, that Thursday night. Price was right, $60 for the night, and I booked over the phone (I presume it was their national booking line) quickly and easily at like 9pm at night. Front desk staff guy was great, very friendly and polite. My non-smoking room was around back; I didn't like that there was no parking that I could see out my window (and this being Humboldt county, I was pretty worried about my car all night after reading the Yelp reviews for this place!). However, being on the back of the building dos mean a lot less road noise from the 101. Other clientele around were mostly various travelers, a family with kids or two (would not recommend to families with kids though, rooms are tiny), a few dirty hippies with a van full of crap, a zippy looking motorcyclist, a guy with a bicycle but no car, a biker looking dude having a beer up on the second story watching me carry my suitcase in, etc. Also a few nice cars in the lot like newer Hundais, etc. Not totally comforting, but I did not witness any fighting, illegal drug use, drunk people, etc like seem to be present in the reviews that are more than a year or two old. Room reminded me of the hotel I stayed in when I went to Mumbai in January. Very bare bones. New flatscreen TV, and the design was the "new" Motel 6 design with the orange wall and modern furniture, but the room and furniture had seen a lot of heard wear already. I appreciate the hard floors, because they don't trap smells and dirt and nasty liquids like carpet does, but there were dust bunnies and stray hairs in every corner. Curtains looked pretty dusty/dirty. The white sheets were almost unstained, but the bed cover was DISGUSTING. Bathroom seemed worn but clean enough. All the lights worked even if they flickered a bit when first turned on, and nothing was outright broken. AC worked, though the room stayed fairly damp/sticky feeling even when cool. There were a few stray cigarette burn holes, worn edges of furniture, patched areas in the wall, just a lot of signs of wear and tear. No amenities like shampoo, fridge or microwave, but I didn't expect any (the mounted bottle opener by the sink gave me a laugh). Just a couple bars of soap, an extra roll of TP, and a couple clean towels. By far, the worst thing was the smell. The motel deodorizer that they use is hardcore enough to singe the nostrils. It had a very acidic, perfumey chemical scent. The room was non-smoking, as was all the rooms on my side of the building, but under the deodorant it had a clear cigarette smell, and everything I brought into the room smelled like cigs afterward until it had aired out for another day. I don't think people had smoked inside the room recently, but my neighbors were smoking in their non-smoking room by sticking just their hand and face out the cracked-open door of their room and trying to blow the smoke back outside. Gross! I would stay here or in another Motel 6 again when in a pinch, if I just needed a place to crash for one night. I had my own bedrolls and pillow with me in the car and was glad to bring it in and have unstained blankets that didn't smell gross (just like in India!). I could see the the exterior of the place was well covered with security cameras and I felt the night desk guy was pretty awake, so even though I was nervous about the amount of stuff in my car, I was pleased to see that it hadn't been touched in the morning and lots of travelers had even hit the road earlier that I had! read more

Got to say that I pretty much agree with the majority of the one-star reviews here. I don't have any problem with the staff. To me, they were polite and courteous enough. They pretty much merit the one star that this review gets. Now, while I'm not at all unfamiliar with the fact that Motel 6 is never going to be a paradise, I have to say that this is the only one, and perhaps the only motel in general, where I've actually felt extremely uneasy to be staying there alone. I stayed there twice. The first time I asked for a quiet room with a minimum of neighbors, and was given a room on the back side of the property. I was told that there was only one other room available on that side, so I was fairly satisfied. When I got to the room and entered, I noticed that there was no bedding, only sheets on the mattress and nothing else. I called up the desk, and they apologized and told me that they had given me the wrong room. No big deal. I went to the desk (they offered to come to me) and got a new key for an adjacent room which was better. It was only after this that I started to feel a little too isolated for my own good, as it turns out that the rear side of the motel, while unpopulated, was still used as a thoroughfare for people who didn't look like they were necessarily guests. Standing outside my door for a smoke after sunset, a grizzled gentleman passed by and I greeted him as he passed saying "Hey, what's up." to which he replied with a grin "Nothin' yet!" Aside from this, the stay wasn't too bad. I just got sketchy vibes. The second time I stayed here I was given a room on the opposite side of the building that I had stayed last time, facing the highway. While I felt better being within view of the office, I was still unsettled as some of the residents, including my newly-arrived neighbor upstairs, seemed to be paying particular attention to me while bringing my possessions into the room. Once again, the staff were the only semi-positive experience about the place. I felt like part of a TV show for some of the regular residents of the place, as this Motel 6 doesn't seem to be just a stop-off point for travelers. I didn't feel comfortable standing outside my room, nor did I feel comfortable in my room, and I was worried about my car even though it was parked right outside. The activity in this place lasts all night. Not only that, but there was the sound of a faucet or shower running non-stop in an adjacent room from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. The condition of the room was poor, and some of the bedding, pillows in particular, seemed worn and dirty despite daily housekeeping. Some of the window screens were torn, there were several marks on the doors, and my curtain was torn and sagging from the rod on one side, which made me think of someone jumping through and breaking it after prying the window open. I had paid an extra $3 for the WiFi but ended up refusing to remove my computer from my bag as I didn't want anyone to know that I had one. Due to all of this, I slept terribly and found myself waiting in earnest for daylight to arrive. I finally nodded off for a couple of hours, and around 6:30 I took a quick shower, loaded up my car as quick as I could, and got the hell out of there. Now, while I wasn't robbed or anything, I definitely felt unsafe staying here alone. If you have a small group, you might not have to worry as much, but in my opinion this place is far too sketchy for me. read more

Yikes.... we stay here every time we drive up, because it's cheap. But, where to start? The rooms are old, the beds are extremely uncomfortable, and that's bad for me because I already have a bad back as it is. The service is usually very good. Last time we came here, we stayed in the back, and pretty sure there was a drug deal going on back there. Sketchy. Very sketchy place. read more

Where to start? - My non-smoking room had an ashtray with a non-smoking sticker on it, cigarette burns on everything (counters, furniture, bedspread, TV, toilet seat), and a stale smoke smell. - The TV looked like it had been kicked a few times. - My friends' non-smoking room had a plastic bag taped over the smoke detector. - The clerk counter had a security monitor with about 9 cameras on it displayed prominently. There was also a fax machine with all the local police numbers taped to it. - Lots of people hanging around outside. - Internet cost extra, but that did not matter because the clerk said it had been down for a week. + Surprisingly, it was quiet. + Bed was reasonably comfortable, not too soft or sagging. I have stayed at a number of Motel 6's over the years and have come to expect a no-frills but clean and decently kept facility. This one did not meet that expectation. read more

I wish we had kept driving and stayed outside of Eureka. For the price we didn't find this motel a very good value. Room was tiny, could use a deep cleaning. Staff were friendly enough and though the motel was packed it was fairly quiet. Other clientele seemed pretty sketchy and in the morning there was a woman talking to herself aggressively in the front office with no staff in sight. After we left we looked into the area and realized that Eureka is NOT a good choice of place to stay in in CA. Hotel maybe earns 2 stars but the town/atmosphere only gets 1! This place was disgusting. Bare wires hanging from the ceiling. Unswept dirt on the floor. Garbage under the beds. Cigarette burns on the blankets of a "no smoking" room. Towels had orange and brown stains and smelled terrible. Flies in the room. People below us were blasting loud music at 3AM, management was adjacent and did nothing. And yet this place cost just as much as another "discount" motel in the same city, which was by far cleaner and in better shape. Do not stay here. read more

Stayed here for one night on a road trip. This was not the worst Motel 6 I've stayed at, although far from the best. The lady at the front desk was actually very nice. When I came into the office to get my room there was another customer there giving her a bad time over the WiFi, and she was extremely patient with the guy... I can't say I would have had the same amount of patience. The room smelled like Fabreeze, which was a bit off-putting, but was still a clean room. This was a noisy place at night because of it's location right on the main road through town. The parking lot was less than impressive and my poor little dog only had one small piece of grass to use. Despite the other reviews, I did not see any drug dealers or prostitutes. I find that having a security guard in the parking lot is not a bad thing... being from a city one realizes the positive's behind this. If this was truely a shit-box like some others are implying, they wouldn't have even bothered to hire security. The only thing I can complaine about is some of the other guests were rather obnoxious. read more

I will preface this by saying that we always stay at Motel 6 and are quite satisfied 99% of the time. This is truly the motel from hell. When the management was informed of this we got an attitude that this was business as usual. read more

Wow. I'm glad I didn't read the bad reviews here before I stayed here. I'm guessing they have upgraded a good deal since some of these reviews. I notice the doors in the picture here are a different color than the ones they have now, and my room was new, so I think they are seriously upgrading. My room was a double queen on the ground floor. #119. It was super clean, no musty smell common in hotel rooms, super quiet AC and also quiet bathroom fan. Hard bed, as usual. Must bring a foam pad next time I travel . . . all the hotel beds seem to be as hard as the floor almost. Samsung flat screen with great color and good clarity from all angles. Nice new counter and sink in Bathroom area. Laminate floors!!!! Loved that. Really hate carpet. It is just a stupid idea.
