This place was a few blocks from the Amtrak stop, and close to Old Town whete you can find lots of restaurants. The bonus is that it's right next to a Natural Grocery store where you can get good, healthy food. The staff were healthy and friendly. My room was quite clean and comfortable! read more

I stayed at the Eureka Motel 6 on a cross-country road trip last summer. It was the scariest place I have ever slept, even with my pitbull sleeping on the floor next to me and a tazer on the bedside table. We arrived late at night due to some travel issues earlier in the evening and booked the last available room for $265/night. It was the only place we could find to sleep with our dog (other than our car) for at least 100 miles. Being dog-friendly, relatively quiet, and safer than sleeping in our car are about the only positive things I can say about it. The bar soap in the bathroom had obviously been used and resealed because there was a hair stuck to the bar. The lights in the parking lot, which I'm pretty sure were installed because of a theft problem given the numerous signs to lock your car, were so bright they kept the room illuminated even with all the curtains closed. The window had extra locks on it, which were certainly necessary considering the scrapes on the frame from what seemed to be previous break-in attempts. I also found several human hairs in the made beds, which makes me question how often the linens are actually changed. I've stayed in Motel 6s that were just fine, but if I ever have to stay in this one again it will be too soon. read more

Pros: relatively inexpensive. Renovated clean rooms.Very close to various restaurants and stores. Cons: thin bedding, parking lot light comes in from the window. Window & door seals are nonexistent so you can hear the highway, the parking lot noise, the wind/rain, etc. Somewhat of an industrial and also semi dodgy area. Large semi trucks. Typical long stay motel/hotel type guests loitering around outside. I'd say it's a fine place for the price relative to other options in the area. Just be vigilant and probably don't leave anything in your car. That's more related to town as a whole and not just the block where this motel is located. read more

Motel 6 already doesn't sound good. So I have to say. I am impressed here. Nice staff, clean room. Beds were a 6 out of ten. Room clean and well stocked with towels and amenities. The room was over $230. That really sucked but, the other hotel down the street was the same and total garbage. The Wyndham whatever. This one was clean and nice. However the price and noise made me give it four stars. The staff, cleanliness and quality of our beds made it worth while. Nicer than motel 6's I'd stayed at decades ago. I'm glad I have them a chance. I was very tired from activities that day and just needed a place. Since the places that weee supposed to be nicer were garbage I have motel 6 a try and I'm glad I did read more

I'm shocked this hotel has such a low rating on Yelp. Probably one of the best budget hotels I've ever stayed in. It was clean, updated and pets stay free. Update: Just checked my credit card activity and saw the $100 security deposit process as a 'sale'. Called Motel 6 customer service to find out why. The representative told me a refund was issued the day after we checked out, and we should see it within 3-5 business days. Not sure why the security deposit wasn't put on a temporary hold as other accommodations handle these 'possible' charges. Don't like having to wait almost a week for a refund of a charge I should have never been given. Not good business. read more

I was looking for a well priced place to stay at while on a vacation trip with my Boyfriend and puppy when we came across here. I was blown away by how well the quality and dedication was put into making this a welcoming stay for all of us. not only do they provide a beautiful and maintained outdoor environment for pets but also provide wonderful food varieties with a breakfast diner across the street and food truck outside the main establishment. We needed a cheap room for one night while we were making an out-of-state move, and honestly this was one of the better Motel 6 locations I've stayed at. The room was clean and I liked how there was no carpet, it made the room feel cleaner. It's a simple room so go in with realistic expectations - there will not be shampoo or fancy towels. There was a $100 hold on our credit card which is standard for most hotels I've stayed at, and this was refunded within the week after our stay. It had the normal Motel 6 creepy vibe but we did not have any problems with the room or our parked car. read more

If you book here and you realize the stench is too much, go with your gut and drive to the nearest available rest stop (the Francis B. Mathews Safety Rest Area, 57 miles out) fully aware that there will be no coffee shops open and the one gas station you try will have one homeless guy who you'll bond with about the store sign reading "OPEN" but the doors are definitely locked. In the few hours we lasted, we found a long blonde hair, laid towels on all surfaces to use them safely, and found a burn in the table that looked like a loogie which we covered with a lysol wipe--out of sight out of mind. Checked out at 2:30 am and left our personal towel behind in fear. Oh, and there was a beautiful sunset out at Samoa so the brief stay in Eureka was worth it in the end. No thank you Motel 6. read more

I'm surprised by the low rating. We travel with our dogs and use Motel 6 often. This newly renovated location is definitely above average. Very clean room, quiet location besides being fully booked. Very friendly staff. Room had faint smoke odor initially but it dissipated. Overall, would def stay here again. Wasn't asked for a cash deposit like someone else posted so not sure what that's about. read more

I wouldn't recommend staying here. The sheets were dirty and so was the floor. There is one person working who does everything so if you need something good luck. They will also change you for things that were already strained so make sure to complain right away or they won't refund you. read more

attention all pet owners traveling through Eureka and looking for a hotel that accepts pets, for your overnight stay, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! This location is separately owned and operated and does not conform to cooperate policy. This location is requiring a $100, cash deposit only, and will not return your deposit to you regardless of the condition of the room when you leave it. They are running a deposit scam that will grift you of your cash and leave you with no recourse for getting your money back if you question the charge like on a credit card.. This Hotel 6 will probably scam thousand of dollars a day over the Memorial Day Week end and the weary unsuspecting traveler just looking for a place to rest their head with their pet for the night. This is probably undeclared, non-taxed revenue going directly into the grifting owners pocket. Safe travels pet owners! read more

Ended up here because all campgrounds in the area were booked and nothing else was dog friendly. Honestly, I'd rather sleep in my car... We had to switch rooms immediately because the first one REAKED of smoke and was all around dirty. Second room smelled like cheap perfume and was also pretty dirty with the sink covered in hair, but not worth the hassle of switching again. I've also never felt so unsafe in my life. Lots of homeless, questionable groups. Like VERY questionable... I would have left and ate the money if I didn't have my fiancé with me. Seriously, don't stay here unless you have to. read more

Looked nice from outside (arrived at night), and room LOOKED nice when first entered. Smelled like smoke, dirt and crumbs in bed, no soaps or shampoo (not even hand soap). MY MATTRESS IS SOFT LIKE ROCK Arriving around midnight, we called a couple places to find the cheapest rate. We had our own sheets and pillows, just needed a mattress to go under us. I joked about calling the casino but we figured they're always a little more expensive, especially when you tack on food and gambling costs. A room at Motel 6 was our best option and around $70. No discounts. We couldn't even talk them into a senior discount just to be nice. The two kids working at the desk were really friendly though. They even told us about the local happenings (the two casinos). We were tired, but decided to go out anyhow. We read up on Yelp and learned one casino of the casinos, with beautiful hotel rooms, was actually a couple dollars less than we'd just paid :( We kept our room at Motel 6 but slept horrible. It was clean, but very uncomfortable. Next time I'll definitely call the casinos before we commit to a room. Cuz I've never seen pillow-top at Motel 6. And I'm pretty sure the towels are not good for your face. They are the roughest towels I've ever seen - the way my cleaning towels at home get after a million chemical baths. And that's pretty much true for every Motel 6. read more

Well, other than the motel being close to Costco and on Hwy 101, along with being close to good eats (Abel's), there's not a whole lot to like about the place. First, the motel has a policy where they make a photocopy of your driver's license and keep it on file for several months. I asked where they keep it and the front desk clerk told me that they were kept in a cabinet somewhere in the manager's apartment. Call me crazy, but there has to be a better way of retaining this information. I was told that the police department requested this, however, I can't think of another motel that does so. This is a major privacy concern, especially for those in the military or in law enforcement. Second, the shower didn't drain, and the bathroom was about the same size as one on a Boeing 737 (or so it seemed). Water pressure was lackluster too. Parking is OK, and we felt relatively safe, however, I would have preferred staying elsewhere. However, we came on short notice, and everywhere else had no vacancies. You'd be better off staying at the Holiday Inn next door. read more

It's really not bad. It's far, and I mean FAR from good. Light-years from good, but really not too bad. Room is so small, you can almost use one blanket for both beds. Hell maybe one pillow too. Interestingly, there's not one drawer in the room. The dresser, was just small shelves. The bible has to be placed down on the floor under the "night stand" which is just a wood box on it's side. But for the cheapest stay in this town, it's easily not in the bottom worst motels. There's several more places that are infinitely worse for $20+ more. Bathroom was remodeled and extremely clean. How about that!? All in all, beggars can't be whiny, retarded, crybaby choosers, so enjoy your stay, or spend double to move up. read more

For the price it is a great deal. Our room was very clean and quiet! Close to a 24hr restaurant which the food is just alright but get the job done if you get in late from driving all day like us on our roadtrip. Just off the freeway very easy to get to. Down side: no fridge to put our leftover food from restaurant. Heard another man complaining about there not being a laundry room. This was not a problem for us since we did not need it but wanted to warn others in case they do. Toilet works great but is super loud when flushing. read more

Definitely got serious drug dealing going on here. I asked for a downstairs room and got some weird, dirty, secured gate side section (though anyone could easily climb the wall halfway down) that I wasn't too comfortable with, where it seems all the drug action is happening. Maybe they feel they can sequester it on that side, but they shouldn't be letting it happen. Could've sworn I saw a guy outside smoking something at the end of that section and then noticed another guy with a backback ready to approach him, but waiting cuz I was there. Lots of commotion outside the doors like people going in and out of rooms. This place got good reviews on another site but if I'd seen the ones here, I would have never booked. Front desk guy was polite and efficient. The room was okay, not great, but not totally skeezy. The floor could use a good deep steam clean. I won't use the shower here, though. I sprayed Lysol on everything I touched, like the remote control, light switch, etc. If you have no other option other than sleeping in your car, I'd go with the car next time. Can't believe what they charge for this place given the clientele. read more

Motel 6 Eureka - Hotels Near Me - Eureka, California

So...have you ever wondered what dead hooker smells like? Look no further! Yes. I know this is a Motel 6, not a Westin or Hyatt. Motel 6 runs the gamut from "well, it's a cheap roof over my head," to "wow, this is better than I thought," to "run like hell." This is the last category. Motel 6, at best, can be a reliable, cheap, no-frills experience. Not a place you enjoy staying at, just a place to crash quickly and cheaply while on the road. I have low expectations for Motel 6, and they're usually met. This location? Exceeded them all. Let me explain. While road-tripping the left coast this summer, we needed a cheap place to stay on a Saturday night in July. Motel 6 is reliably average, and apparently there was an event that night in Arcata, so all the hotels in the area were booked solid or over $150 a night, which isn't awful but we were getting in late and leaving early, we just needed a place to sleep and shower. So, we booked the Motel 6 in Eureka. Eureka has a cute little downtown area, we figured it couldn't be too bad. We figured WRONG. First clue? Security guard. In the parking lot. Second clue? People sleeping IN THEIR LOCKED CARS. Third clue? People sleeping in the parking lot. NOT in cars. We were given our keys, and our room was around the back of the motel, facing the woods, on the ground floor. We opened the door and the smell was unbelievable. And, I even took photos to show disbelieving friends, there was what appeared to be two giant bloodstains on the floor. One near the sink area, and one near the bed. The window screen was busted, the room was stinky, there was blood on the floor. Oh, hell no. I said "don't put your bags down!" and picked up the phone to call the front desk and ask for a different room...and THE PHONE WAS BROKEN. We couldn't have called 911 if Captain Homeless Crack Addict standing outside our door asking for food decided to pull a knife. (Ok, I DID have my cell phone and it worked, but still. Blood stains? Broken phones? Bad smells?!) So we grabbed our bags and went back to the front desk, where I explained the situation. To my dismay, I couldn't get another room anywhere in Eureka or Arcata that night without spending serious money, but the man working at the counter was very apologetic and did put us in a different room, upstairs, facing the highway, which while noisy was reliably average without any of the issues of the other, terrifying room. That room was smaller, but there weren't bedbugs, there wasn't blood on the carpet - it was just your unremarkable, average, Motel 6 once we got out of the original room. The point here is that I wouldn't risk it. There are cops in and out of there at night, drug deals in the parking lot, and some of those rooms are not just terrifying, but likely the scenes of bludgeonings of some sort. RUN. Pay the extra to stay elsewhere. But avoid this location at all costs. You'd be better off sleeping in your car in a gas station parking lot. read more
