Pros: relatively inexpensive. Renovated clean rooms.Very close to various restaurants and stores. Cons: thin bedding, parking lot light comes in from the window. Window & door seals are nonexistent so you can hear the highway, the parking lot noise, the wind/rain, etc. Somewhat of an industrial and also semi dodgy area. Large semi trucks. Typical long stay motel/hotel type guests loitering around outside. I'd say it's a fine place for the price relative to other options in the area. Just be vigilant and probably don't leave anything in your car. That's more related to town as a whole and not just the block where this motel is located. read more

I'm shocked this hotel has such a low rating on Yelp. Probably one of the best budget hotels I've ever stayed in. It was clean, updated and pets stay free. I was on the second floor and it was a quiet night but you do hear people in the parking lot packing up in the morning. Can't beat it for less than $100 night. read more

Update: Just checked my credit card activity and saw the $100 security deposit process as a 'sale'. Called Motel 6 customer service to find out why. The representative told me a refund was issued the day after we checked out, and we should see it within 3-5 business days. Not sure why the security deposit wasn't put on a temporary hold as other accommodations handle these 'possible' charges. We needed a cheap room for one night while we were making an out-of-state move, and honestly this was one of the better Motel 6 locations I've stayed at. The room was clean and I liked how there was no carpet, it made the room feel cleaner. It's a simple room so go in with realistic expectations - there will not be shampoo or fancy towels. There was a $100 hold on our credit card which is standard for most hotels I've stayed at, and this was refunded within the week after our stay. If you book here and you realize the stench is too much, go with your gut and drive to the nearest available rest stop (the Francis B. Mathews Safety Rest Area, 57 miles out) fully aware that there will be no coffee shops open and the one gas station you try will have one homeless guy who you'll bond with about the store sign reading "OPEN" but the doors are definitely locked. In the few hours we lasted, we found a long blonde hair, laid towels on all surfaces to use them safely, and found a burn in the table that looked like a loogie which we covered with a lysol wipe--out of sight out of mind. Checked out at 2:30 am and left our personal towel behind in fear. Oh, and there was a beautiful sunset out at Samoa so the brief stay in Eureka was worth it in the end. Ended up here because all campgrounds in the area were booked and nothing else was dog friendly. Honestly, I'd rather sleep in my car... We had to switch rooms immediately because the first one REAKED of smoke and was all around dirty. Second room smelled like cheap perfume and was also pretty dirty with the sink covered in hair, but not worth the hassle of switching again. I've also never felt so unsafe in my life. MY MATTRESS IS SOFT LIKE ROCK Arriving around midnight, we called a couple places to find the cheapest rate. We had our own sheets and pillows, just needed a mattress to go under us. I joked about calling the casino but we figured they're always a little more expensive, especially when you tack on food and gambling costs. A room at Motel 6 was our best option and around $70. No discounts. We couldn't even talk them into a senior discount just to be nice. The two kids working at the desk were really friendly though. They even told us about the local happenings (the two casinos). We were tired, but decided to go out anyhow. We read up on Yelp and learned one casino of the casinos, with beautiful hotel rooms, was actually a couple dollars less than we'd just paid :( We kept our room at Motel 6 but slept horrible. It was clean, but very uncomfortable. Next time I'll definitely call the casinos before we commit to a room. Cuz I've never seen pillow-top at Motel 6. And I'm pretty sure the towels are not good for your face. They are the roughest towels I've ever seen - the way my cleaning towels at home get after a million chemical baths. Well, other than the motel being close to Costco and on Hwy 101, along with being close to good eats (Abel's), there's not a whole lot to like about the place. First, the motel has a policy where they make a photocopy of your driver's license and keep it on file for several months. I asked where they keep it and the front desk clerk told me that they were kept in a cabinet somewhere in the manager's apartment. Call me crazy, but there has to be a better way of retaining this information. I was told that the police department requested this, however, I can't think of another motel that does so. This is a major privacy concern, especially for those in the military or in law enforcement. Second, the shower didn't drain, and the bathroom was about the same size as one on a Boeing 737 (or so it seemed). Water pressure was lackluster too. Parking is OK, and we felt relatively safe, however, I would have preferred staying elsewhere. However, we came on short notice, and everywhere else had no vacancies. You'd be better off staying at the Holiday Inn next door. read more

It's really not bad. It's far, and I mean FAR from good. Light-years from good, but really not too bad. Room is so small, you can almost use one blanket for both beds. Hell maybe one pillow too. Interestingly, there's not one drawer in the room. The dresser, was just small shelves. The bible has to be placed down on the floor under the "night stand" which is just a wood box on it's side. But for the cheapest stay in this town, it's easily not in the bottom worst motels. There's several more places that are infinitely worse for $20+ more. Bathroom was remodeled and extremely clean. Definitely got serious drug dealing going on here. I asked for a downstairs room and got some weird, dirty, secured gate side section (though anyone could easily climb the wall halfway down) that I wasn't too comfortable with, where it seems all the drug action is happening. Maybe they feel they can sequester it on that side, but they shouldn't be letting it happen. Could've sworn I saw a guy outside smoking something at the end of that section and then noticed another guy with a backback ready to approach him, but waiting cuz I was there. Lots of commotion outside the doors like people going in and out of rooms. This place got good reviews on another site but if I'd seen the ones here, I would have never booked. Front desk guy was polite and efficient. The room was okay, not great, but not totally skeezy. The floor could use a good deep steam clean. I won't use the shower here, though. I sprayed Lysol on everything I touched, like the remote control, light switch, etc. If you have no other option other than sleeping in your car, I'd go with the car next time. You get what you pay for at Motel 6, and maybe I've been lucky but I've always gotten a clean yet economical place to lay my head. For the price it is a great deal. Our room was very clean and quiet! Close to a 24hr restaurant which the food is just alright but get the job done if you get in late from driving all day like us on our roadtrip. Just off the freeway very easy to get to. Down side: no fridge to put our leftover food from restaurant. Heard another man complaining about there not being a laundry room. I generally stay at Motel 6 properties because I often travel with a dog, and you can generally count on the property being clean. I've stayed in this Motel 6 in the past and never encountered problems. My problem this time is the cancellation policy. I booked via Hotels.com and on the site, it says clearly that cancellation is free. I scoured the listing and felt confident booking because I haven't been feeling well and suspected I might have to cancel my plans. Which I did end up doing. I guess should have studied the listing more carefully because they charge for a night's stay if you cancel 24 hour (or less) out. To make things worse, the normal $65 rate ballooned to $112 for the holiday weekend, so that's what I have to pay, because of course they'll NEVER fill a vacant room during a the 4th of July weekend on the coast. (yes, that's sarcasm.) Poorly played. There are other properties to stay at in the area. read more
