I booked this hotel for four nights through Chase Travel. At roughly $75 a night, it was a very good deal. It is an older motel, but it's in a great location, close to anywhere in town, and very close to old town Eureka. For what I got for the price, I was very happy. You check in via a remote screen in the lobby, it's still very efficient, and the people on the other end of the screen are very friendly and helpful. As I mentioned, it was an older room, and there were a few chips and Nicks here and there, but that was just cosmetic. There is a desk to eat or work on, plugs to charge my gear, a TV with a good picture, the bathroom was spotless, it had a shower instead of a tub. The shower did not have a grab bar or a shower mat, so you do need to be careful. The bed was very comfortable, and I had a very good nights sleep. The Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream video. The room also had a fridge, a microwave, and a coffee pot. What was especially nice was, I had to leave the hotel after only two nights, because I needed to stay with a sick family member at home. I called Chase who called the hotel, and the hotel agreed to let me cancel after two nights, and they refunded the remaining two nights back to my account. They were very understanding. I stayed on a Sunday night, at non-peak season. I'm giving them 5 stars for the price (the cheapest in Eureka for the night we stayed) and for kindness and helpfulness of the staff. It is what it is. If you want luxury, pony up three times as much and don't choose a motel built in 1960 and located right on 101. Sure, it's dated, has cinder block walls and is showing wear & tear. But it's a clean, safe place to rest your head for the night. And the price is right. As for the negative reviews, what do you expect from a budget motel? Eureka's Waldorf Astoria? This hotel has cockroaches. The administration does not like to admit it. The manager is rude and arrogant. The big problem is having cockroaches in the room. I found one in my bathroom. Another problem was no hot water in shower. The room smelled like Indian curry including the beddings!! I will not recommend this hotel unless you are desperate and cannot find anything else. The Yelp numerous reviews but retained a great overall rating got me. It made me have high expectations and maybe that was the problem. Also the business uploaded very professional photos that made everything look a lot more nicer than it really is. In reality, things aren't as nice as they appeared on the photos. The rooms are dated. From materials and fixtures. Walls are cinder blocks painted, old school tile counter in bathroom with tile chipping, a hole on the inside part of the bathroom door (although didnt go through, it was a big enough hole to notice). The room itself is smaller than it looks in the photos. It's good for 2, but for 4 will be snug. The closet is just like an alley/niche in the wall, not an actual enclosed closet with door. Keep in mind 11PM they close so if you do not check in before that, there is no guarantee you'll be able to. There are limited covered parking stalls and as a first timer in Eureka, the surrounding area isnt that charming to feel super safe. The positive is, everything works despite being dated. The TV looks like the most recently upgraded thing in the room. The water pressure is strong on the shower. The internet is fast. They look to be well equipped with EV chargers. And if that is all that matters, then someone's perspective will rate it higher. 2.5 is star from me because nothing went wrong, but the entire stay it just felt something was going to because of the overall appearance of the room and establishment. There is a big jump in price from real hotel like the Hampton or Holiday Inn, so this being priced significantly lower was welcomed and why I picked at least 2.5 stars However, as mentioned the high review count and nice pics did sway me a bit, but after my experience, although positive in the sense that nothing went wrong, it didnt feel like a 4 star stay. And because of this irked me even more because you expect 4 star type establishment. If this had a 2-3 star rating from the get go, I would go in expecting that and leave even more satisfied because I wasn't expecting a 4 star experience. read more

The room was not bad overall for the price. The Jacuzzi in the room was nice after a long day exploring. There was no blinds on the bathroom window which allowed in a lot of sunlight in the morning which woke us up pretty early. Also there was some holes in the wall and one in the bathroom door which I feel showed be fixed. But the bed was not horrible and all together not a bad stay. read more

I was highly disappointed in this hotel. We made the reservations for the wrong day unfortunately. We called back a half an hour later to ask if we could switch to the correct day, The correct day was only two days later but they refused! We called Expedia who we booked through and they called the front desk, but they refused to change the dates even when Expedia ask them to. I called the hotel myself, and again they refused. I called Expedia again and they called the front desk, and again they refused. All we wanted them to do was change our night stay from a Friday night to the following Sunday night and they would not do it. We booked for a rainy winter day, so it wasn't due to them being overbooked. It was low season. So they kept our money for the one night and we were not able to stay that night. The room turned out to be a two-bedroom unit and was clean and tidy. Everything worked, and it even had a nice rain showerhead in the bathroom. It was nice, in that it had a big window that looked out on the Victorian homes toward the back about 1/2 block away. Reservation reminder calls had come from Brunswick, ME. The check-in made me feel the area may be sketch. You have to press a doorbell button at the office, and a voice tells you to open the sliding doors and come in to the tiny office on the floor where you park. You hear it click, and upon stepping in, see a screen with the front desk staffer checking you in via a Zoom-like call with dubbed-in background. The machine incorporating the screen scans your ID, and it also spits out your key. The whole process felt weird, like it's not safe enough to have a staffer there on-site. That said, all went well, and it was quiet. My door had a good lock, and was upstairs. It really was a nice room, had a fridge and microwave, blow dryer, and coffeemaker. Two couples: We stayed at Town House Motel Eureka for this year's Redwood Coast Music Festival (10/3-9/2024). Megan was an excellent host and provided additional secure storage for all our bicycles. Funny thing is, both the good and bad reviews are pretty much correct. This place is old and a bit dingy (the pictures are a little optimistic), and some of the nearby areas are sketchy. I mean, it's across the street from a jail. It feels like it was frozen in amber in 1962. At the same time our room is clean, it's quiet, the person who checked us in was friendly, and, the kicker for us, it's pet-friendly and offers free EV charging. And oddly, while some streets nearby are sketch, if you walk toward the water you find streets of modest Victorians, what looks like a restored Victorian mansion open to the public, and a peaceful working waterfront. It's also three blocks from the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, run by Cal Poly Humboldt, where you can rent small watercraft. If you prefer new and antiseptic (which is fine!), avoid. If you don't mind (or are drawn to) places that have seen some miles--or maybe you just have an EV and/or a dog--this place is comfortable. read more

We checked yelp and Google and booked the room through Expedia based on the good reviews. What a disappointment. The room were so small that there is barely room to move around. There were2 windows in the our room, one facing the "courtyard" and hall way and the other faces the street) while the room is on the second floor, people can see into the room directly...so the drapes were closed all the time. The room smell heavy with bleach (clean?) The bathroom had notging to hang out clothes and the exhaust fan was not working...had to open the window a crack to let the steam out of the bathroom. That weere not the reason for bad reviews. The worse was the blood stained bed sheets and other dirt. We did not noticed it until the morning when we we re packing. So we brought it to manager during check out and he said, "we sent all our laundry outside to wash" - not sure what he meant. Dirty sheet is dirty sheets. I called Expedia in the parking and the expedia person out me in hold to call the hotel and came back to tell me that I didn't brought it up to the .... (Calling me l a lier while I was just there at the office!) So I went back to the office with the Expedia person in the phone. When I asked him if he denied that I brought up the issue, the owner came up and told him not to say anything and start yelling at me claiming that I brought thinsuo to get a free night stay. We loved that this place allowed us to have two rooms in our reservation without actually paying for two rooms. We also liked how unique the architecture was (the upstairs hallway). What we didn't like is that there were so many things missing that most hotels have., including a mirror and trash can in the bathroom. And the design of the rooms were a bit too odd too. But on the bright side, it was super clean! And it had all the essentials, including a great working refrigerator, television, and coffee maker. So I would stay at it again if I needed to, but more likely I'll find a Comfort Inn instead. read more

Not sure where all the positive reviews came from? We had a totally different experience. This motel is in a pretty sketchy area and when we arrived there was no parking in the covered garage area. We were instructed to park across the driveway next to a different business building. The attendant said we "should be good" and that our car would probably not be towed. We booked this place based on the positive reviews, pictures of the rooms and cheep price. The cheep price is not worth it and our room looked nothing like the pictures. When we walked into the room it smelled like mildew and the brown comforter did not look like it had been washed. It was super dingy and felt off. There were cords all over the wall and the mirror looked really odd. With the smell and the unsecured parking, we decided not to stay there. We checked out with the attendant 3 minutes after checking in and were not given a refund which we understood but were disappointed by. The attendant called his boss and said that if the room was booked that night we would get a refund. We booked through Expedia so we let them know. Expedia sent us an email a week later and said that due to them not being able to get in contact with the owner we would not receive a refund. The owner did not have the decency to let Expedia know if they had booked the room or not that night. I am figuring that they did and wanted to keep our $120 as well as the money they received for the 2nd booking that night. We ended up staying the night at at Best Western Plus Humboldt Bay Inn which was pricier but we felt totally safe. read more

I recently visited Eureka and stayed at the Town House for the second time. The accommodations are modest but quite comfortable. I stayed in room 22 on the first floor. The fan in the room wasn't working but they replaced it very promptly. The bathroom was large and spacious with an ADA shower and clean white towels, and the bed was very comfortable. If luxury and fancy amenities are what you're after, this might not be the place for you. If good value for the price matter to you, and friendly, courteous staff like Danny at the front desk, I recommend Town House Motel. I will definitely stay there again. read more

This motel is one of those hidden gems that you only find every now and then. It's not fancy at all. It is older 70's probably but it is clean and quiet and inexpensive. My daughter and I stayed in one of their two bedroom family units. It's not really a suite, rather it is a regular motel room with another smaller room attached with a bathroom and sink/wash nook in between. The main bedroom houses a bed, the TV, table and chairs, chest of drawers and the TV. It was perfect for us because I stay up late and she hits the sack early so she could just shut her door and I could watch TV without disturbing her. And here is the kicker, the room was less than $80 a nite. I should include that they have free WYFY, modern HD flat screen TV's with Dish Network and the beds are very comfortable (pillow tops) and the phones have an Internet Jack for your laptop if you need it. So, the rooms are inexpensive, the place is clean and quiet and it is located downtown just minutes from old Town, the bay, harbor and other points of interest. The negatives are: at first sight some might think "sleazy" - I can assure you there is not a hint of sleaze about the place. The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is the fact that the motel is right across from the jail and with Eureka being loaded with homeless and vagrants... well, it just detracts a bit from the 'ambiance'. Despite the jail etc. the motel is safe and the gentleman who runs the desk keeps a close eye on things. Parking is a little tight. It's located at ground level with the majority of the motel above, but that helps insure your vehicle is safe. You can see that from pictures others have posted. I want to stress that despite the locale we never felt uncomfortable nor did we have any negative encounters. The bottom line is, if you want a modern, luxurious, expensive hotel this ain't it, otherwise, if your tastes are a little more modest and you want a good value then this is a great place for your money and we will definately stay here again. read more

Room dated, clean, basically ok. I had a large room I suppose they were out of singles. Only 2 stars because it is too highly rated at anything over 3, because of noise of guests, street, & the design of the building. The garage is below the rooms and indoor balcony, perhaps it was built like this to shelter guests as they unloaded/loaded car in the rain? The central location would be a plus for those with business in town. The bar next door has a good ribeye dinner for $30. read more

A little budget inn that has an odd charm and interesting architectural layout. Pretty typical fare for a cheap motel - some creaks/stomping sounds, slightly dingy paint, classic musty smell in the hallways, a toilet that ran on and off occasionally. Not wheelchair accessible as all rooms are located up a flight of stairs. At the same time, it was nice and clean inside the room, very comfortable bed, nice cold fridge, good TV, heat/AC worked great. There was plenty of parking in the covered area under the deck. The immediate block surrounding the building is not the most congenial, but it's a very short walk to the food/shops in the downtown area, which is nice. Overall it was exactly what I expected and I enjoyed my stay. Shoutout to Danny at the front desk, he was helpful and polite. read more

The man that ran them was awful and screamed at me when he refused to give me a refund when I didn't want to stay in his dirty motel room, there was mold, and the power outlet shocked me! This was an interesting stay, although for the area, possibly one of the top budget choices. The property is old, but you can tell they work hard to keep it clean and maintained. Majority of rooms are on the second floor, so parking is on the first floor. They also have cameras everywhere, and the man at the desk seems to keep a VERY close eye on things. They allow dogs, but I wouldn't say they are pet friendly. They have a long list of rules, and a fee posted for anyone who breaks said rules. They were kind enough to give us some leeway with our senior dog who was having troubles navigating the stairs though, so extra star for that. The room was clean. The place is walking distance from downtown area, and while there are some questionable folks on the sidewalk, no one bothered us at all. No breakfast here. I would probably stay again. read more

Such a cute and convenient place to stay in Old Town! The room was clean and dog-friendly; the shower had good water pressure; and the fridge & microwave are a nice touch! I asked for the room to be made up each day, and everything was all fixed up just as I'd hoped. The front desk was happy to accommodate with extra pillows and ice bucket. The room had no amenities other than wifi -- don't expect fancy shampoo & conditioner or even a small breakfast. It was graduation weekend, so the price was much higher than usual. The hotel is quaint and conveniently located. The rooms are exactly as pictured but I had a shower not a tub. Had I known there was an option I would have asked for a tub since my husband would have had more room. The room is very clean. This is a no frills room, but the fridge, coffee pot and microwave were a nice add. There was very little noise and the covered parking was a plus! I was pleasantly surprised to see a charging station as well. We walked the entire harbor, got coffee and a muffin nearby and enjoyed the architecture, boats and water. read more

Ahhh, Eureka motels. What can I say? When traveling alone, I actually like this one better than most. Here's why: It's in the heart of Eureka, and while there is riff-raff around, the tenant population always seems miraculously free of it. My room was about $80/night at present (Jun '17). It's about $15 (give or take) more than Motel 6 down the road, but I will thankfully pay a few extra bucks to avoid the sketchy doings and gazes of drug-addled neighbors eyeing my belongings or my car. It's a nice safe middle ground between the bottom-barrel (i.e. Lamplighter: "Hey, don't you go havin' any guests [hookers] over! No guests!") and the $100+ / night premium chains. The rooms are adequate. Sure, they're dated, but everything looks reasonably clean. There's a small flatscreen, medium-sized fridge, cable, internet, and a microwave. It's a unique layout where the 1st floor is the parking lot and all of the rooms are in a ring on the second floor. The 2nd floor landing is like a big common balcony, and I like that because your car is always in close proximity and you can look right down at the parking spaces from right outside the room. Additionally, all of the area outside of the rooms is covered by a canopy, so if the weather is bad you don't have to worry about getting rained on while bringing luggage in or while loading up to leave. I see that some folks have had negative experiences with the desk. Mine have all been either unremarkable or positive so far. As a matter of fact, the night-time desk worker actually pulled out of their parking space to give it to me (I didn't even comment or ask) when I checked in because all of the other spaces were taken up. When traveling alone, I don't need many creature comforts beyond a clean and safe place to rest my head after a long drive. This place definitely fits the bill. read more
