They seem like very nice people, the owners, that means something. Accept dogs, not cats, fair enough.

Came here for my spring break a while ago, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!…read more I accidentally booked a one bedroom room and raised my voice a bit from shock. The guy who runs the place heard me and came over to check what was happening. I told him about my situation and he was able to move me and my cousin to a 2 bedroom room. That was very kind of him and we both are so thankful! There is a nearby trail that lets you go down to the beach and I highly recommend it! Absolutely stunning views and a nice walk. The kitchen was absolutely amazing! They had everything, stove, microwave, plates, cups, etc etc. Very clean and well kept! One thing that would've made the experience better was for the cleaning lady to clean our room. We left the sign out but our room sadly didn't get cleaned. Don't know if we put it up too late (around 10am) but other than that, amazing place! I highly recommended it!

Lashawna at the front desk was exceptionally kind and resourceful. The rooms were cute and had all the amenities that I needed. The WiFi was a bit scarce in certain areas of the property. There's a beautiful forest right there with a fun trail to walk, leading to beautiful views and nature wonders. There's several outdoor areas to sit in. Basketball court. Picnic area. Fire pit. Mini Library inside of the office. I would definitely stay here again. Peaceful. Clean. Safe. Restaurants nearby. Even if you don't go to the official Redwoods National Park, this is a great spot to experience GLORIOUS REDWOODS!

3 stars...... 2.5 isn't an option…read more Overall experience: It ended up being an acceptable time here. There are positives and some negatives that I will explain. Main concerns: * Overpriced for overall stay / experience * Unpleasant, extremely outdated decor; hard to ignore Positives: * Beautiful ocean view * Nice garden * Close to trailheads * Communal fridge filled with cold drinks; breakfast (I know it's a B&B but for this price, in-room coffee would've been nice.) * Very clean rooms * Hosts were kind, pleasant, informative Negatives: * Decor: The first impression was alarming at best. Online photos do leave you with the impression that the decor is dated but it is overwhelming to actually see once there. I had to walk back to the car and process whether I could actually stay here. After looking up availability of neighboring lodging and seeing no options (and considering the loss of money already spent here...), we decided to go inside. Instead of walking in the door, you have to use the old, outdated intercom where you're asked if you have a reservation. After being let in, we were still experiencing a lot of feelings ("creepy" is the word we kept repeating to each other and "Grandma's estate sale".). While the host was polite and informative, the environment / decor was so outdated, it was hard to get past or ignore. I spent half the day working to force myself to not feel uncomfortable here; I should feel good about the stay - not spend considerable vacation time talking myself into not feeling grossed out by it. * Cost of stay: Considering this was the most expensive option in the area, I expected more / better. Besides the overall decor, our bath towels had bleach stains on them. And be sure to bring your own bath supplies. The ones provided that are boasted about on the website.....looks like they bought Dollar store products, stuck old-fashioned-looking labels on and have refilled over and over. I did not feel comfortable using them at all. Summary: * Nice hosts. Great view. That's it. * Would I stay again or recommend to others: Hard no. You think it's obvious to want an ocean view but I'd easily pass on the view for a more comfortable place to stay. We actually left a day early. Could be good if recommendations here and in other reviews are taken and implemented. Relying solely on "the view" isn't cutting it.

I stayed here with my husband and our 2-month-old baby. While we checked out of our room at 11am, it was storming outside, so we took a seat in the lounge to wait out the weather for a short period of time and feed the baby. Within minutes, the innkeeper, Roger, came over to tell us, rather coldly, that "the reservation ended at 11." Despite being fully out of the room and sitting quietly in a shared space (where there was no one else, as the inn wasn't even full), we were asked to leave. His tone was passive-aggressive -- particularly unkind given the circumstances. That was one of a few negative interactions we had with him. In all our travels, we've never experienced such a lack of hospitality -- especially from a place that charges over $300 a night. Most properties are more than accommodating when guests are briefly using common areas after checkout, especially with a baby and during bad weather. After our stay, we noticed some other online reviews describing similarly negative interactions with Roger, scattered among the glowing 5-star ones. Sadly, that interaction left a lasting negative impression. As a result, we won't be returning and can't recommend this BnB to others who value genuine hospitality. It's a real shame, considering the views and location.

From the moment I arrived, Keaton (the hostess) greeted me warmly and offered to help me with my luggage. I felt immediately enveloped with genuine kindness. When I realized i had no swimsuit for the spa, she offered to find me a substitute. Which she did. And the spa was wonderful with the ocean pounding below on the rocks, and seals barking in the night. And that's the way it went, the whole stay. When I missed the wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning, Keaton cheerfully fixed me a beautiful plate, and Met (also a hostess) made me a "happy face" orange juice to top it off.! Help with luggage was offered on leaving, along with much assistance with any request I had. The Beluga Room was absolutely wonderful, romantic, cozy, and balcony open to the ocean. The beach trail was exhilarating and do-able, even for an 81 year old woman. I have never had such a lovely time. Highly recommended. And dont forget to roast marshmellows (provided by the Inn) at the firepit at night, and get some hugs with Boscoe the old black cat who is waiting to love every human being in sight. G. Upon arrival we were greeted by our innkeeper for the night and a snack plate that included cheese, crackers, dried fruit, nuts, and salmon was ready for us to take up to our room. This snack plate is prepared everyday. The room was very comfortable and we loved the attention to detail. We stayed in the Egret room and we had plenty of space. The bed was comfortable and could slightly hear the sea lions from our room. No t.v. in the room and it was nice to connect with nature and rest. There was an indoor heater in the closet that we turned on to heat up the room and turned off when we slept. The blankets kept us warm at night. One night after staying out at the fire pit to hang out with other guests, we got back to our room to shower and we didn't have hot water. One of the innkeeper's told us sometimes it happens when too many people are showering at once. Not a deal breaker, although I want to share because this is something that I'd want to know. Back to good stuff...their breakfast is delicious every morning. It tastes like it is made with love. There is a trail down to the beach and a fire pit where they have all the ingredients necessary to make smores. The view is spectacular here. Truly one of a kind. We loved our experience here and look forward to coming back.

Our daughter is now grown up, so for the first time in nineteen years my wife and I were able to get away on our own for an anniversary vacation. In the past, we usually ended up in the fourth unit-- which is perfect for families of three-- but this time we stayed in the ninth unit, which has a wonderful jet sauna, a VERY comfortable king bed, a large kitchen area, and a very nice couch for hanging out after a long day beach combing or wandering in the redwoods. Every time we have stayed at the View Crest, the staff has always been friendly and accommodating and this visit continued that trend. I should add that the lodge is located very near to the redwood tree parks (my favorite being Prairie Creek), Su-Meg State Park, and Trinidad State Beach-- all of which makes for many days of enjoyable hiking and wandering. My only complaint about the View Crest is all their units are often completely booked! We look forward to our next stay.

However, the grounds were quite unsightly upon arrival with debris along the driveway and throughout the yard. This time the water situation was terrible, and things were really run down. The water wouldn't fill the toilet, and all water in the rooms was brown. I say rooms, because the manager moved us out of one room that we suspect was actually being lived in by someone, and put us in what he called, "a better room." We couldn't shower, we couldn't make coffee in the provided coffee pot. The bed was pretty comfortable. There is a great, safe yard for dogs to wander around in, and that's one of the reasons we liked this place. In the past the place was mowed and well-taken-care-of, but this time the grass was taller than my ankles, and I wondered if they just couldn't afford the upkeep. I don't know what's happening at the Sea Cliff Motel, but I hope for their sake they can get it together and do the upgrades they need to do. Hard to do I imagine, with so few rooms and not charging much. I think they're in between a rock and a hard place. Three stars is generous... Here's hoping.
