Work trip. Hotel was good, clean, daily cleaning is by request only. Breakfast is good and free. Customer service from Tina Guevara over the phone was horrible. I checked out early morning on a Sunday and security was filling in for front desk staff that called out/no show. He didn't know or was trained to do front desk. I called the next morning on Monday and shared my checkout experience and receipt inaccurate checkout date. Tina didn't let me finish my explanation/experience. She even threaten to hang up and end the call. Poor customer service from Tina G. I hope someone above her sees this review. Check in was a breeze thanks to, ugh, I forgot, but it was a male staff with red hair. He provided a lot of information and was friendly. Our room ,203, was clean with a king bed and a small balcony enough to step out for fresh air. It faced the Sportsman Store with RVs parked all hours of the day so I wasn't very comfortable stepping outside or to have the dark curtains open. Large mini fridge with freezer and a microwave. You get an table with 2 chairs and a desk/desk chair. The location was perfect as it's just about an 9mins drive to the sequoia zoo skywalk and the dunes. Nearby there's also In N Out, drive thru fast food restaurants, plenty of stores and gas stations. There's an ice machine and vending machines on each floor. Dogs are welcome for a fee, $30. The hot tub and pool area is gorgeous. Provided a very nice ambiance during the day and night. Parking free and complimentary breakfast was decently basic. read more

We have stayed here several times, but will not again. It feels like someone is trying to maximize their profits at the expense of the guests. The toilets were not practical. We even changed to a handicapped room. The water level in both toilets was too high, and not adjustable. One could not use it without getting wet, whether hands or other parts. Loved that we could open up the back sliding door and get fresh air. It has a table and two chairs. The paint colors and artwork were modern. Liked the body wash I. The shower. The property is laid out well with a pool and courtyard. Breakfast was included In the room Price. It was waffles, something that was supposed to be scrambled eggs, sausage, good potatoes, biscuits and gravy, bagels and cereal. Well...this was an experience. Finding last-minute lodging usually yields interesting results. And this lived up to those expectations. We booked the last available king room, which happened to have a tub...in the bedroom . Now, if I was filming an adult movie in the 1980s, this would've been a goldmine. Said tub and room decor in the darkest corner of the hotel made me wonder if Ron Jeremy would suddenly appear amidst a soundtrack of wah-wah guitars and funky bass lines. But alas, I was left with only the smelly remnants of past debauchery and my vivid imagination. This along with bolted windows and carpet stains made for a very unique and short-lived stay. Needless to say, my shoes never came off when walking these floors. That said, breakfast offerings were the adequate standard fare for a hotel. And the gentleman who checked us in was friendly and helpful. But at nearly $250 a night, they could do a lot better with offering cleaner, more updated rooms to meet Best Western standards I've experienced at other locations. read more

Lack of accountability for booking errors on their end, unwilling to offer any apology, solution, answer, or professionalism for their errors in booking. Lacking customer service skills, and surrounding area has a very very unsafe feeling and bad vibe. Tons of homelessness around area and saw some coming into front office for free beverages. Will start by saying I was always pleased whenever encountering the staff here. Check in was pretty painless and didn't have any issues with my service dog. It's pet friendly in general and a pretty good location on the 101, right next to the mall/food options, and a short walk to the water. There are some wacko homeless around, but never felt unsafe. There is also a beautiful garden and koi pond in the back section (the area with more upgraded rooms). I also really enjoyed the daily breakfast with the array of good quality options. (Best Westerns do breakfast well) The negatives: - very expensive for what you get - King bed felt more like a Queen - wifi was super slow and no ethernet plug in to do work (I actually discovered the McDonalds free wifi was much faster even though it was a good 500 feet away across the street) - super tight parking lot - what you see is not necessarily what you get, only the garden rooms are upgraded like in the pictures - shower backs up quickly from clogged drain (had maintenance come but they didn't really make it much better) - laundry machines all out of service (and very expensive at that) - not much grass around the property for dogs - noisy on the north side of the building with all the semi trucks and wackos yelling at McDonalds - tons of flies by the elevators Probably one of the better options in the area, but still lots of room for improvement. We stayed here one night on our roadtrip. It checked off all of the necessary boxes: comfortable bed, good air conditioner, clean room... The breakfast is posted in the lobby. It included meat (which is not standard) so we opted to stay in to eat in the morning. The food was decent. One of the best things about this place was the service. Good hotel with many conveniences. Most importantly the bed was an A+ in comfort. Also, I liked the bigger than expected refrigerator. They have a keurig and microwave as well. The staff was extremely helpful. The room appeared and felt clean. I love that Sportmans Warehouse is right across the street. What I didn't like was the layout of the room, which was odd to me. The keurig is on the bathroom counter area. The door to the bathroom area has about an inch or two of clearance from the actual countertop. This is weird and inconvenient as you can't walk by another person to access the separate toilet and shower area. The small closet area is behind the water closet door. Also, we paid for the king with a harbor view. This view is poor, even from the 3rd floor. I'd advise a regular view as the pool and water garden area are very cute. Much more pleasing than the fuel distribution company parking lot and hotel parking lot (side by side). Also, shady people rolled through around 11:30 pm and jumped out and started to try to get into guest vehicles. Their engine woke us up and other guests hit their alarm and scared them off. This set us on edge the second night worrying about our truck getting broken into. The harbor walkway near the hotel is a no for safety reasons. Many groups of homeless and drug users doing nefarious things that we unfortunately witnessed having no warning. Overall, I liked the hotel and the staff, but the criminal element is too much of a risk factor for me. read more

There are frighteningly few decent hotels in this region, so it was a great relief to have such a satisfying stay at this Best Western. It's the perfect hotel for its price range, and they have all those hotel basics down that one would hope for. Our room was tucked in the back top corner of the hotel. This place it far away from the main street and next to a very low-traffic side street. The room was awkwardly shaped and kind of dark, but there was a big sliding window so we could get fresh air and a fireplace if it got too cold. The boxes were checked on all those essentials you look for in a hotel. Hot running water and good pressure? Check. Comfortable and clean bedding? Check. Soaps and a clean sink area? Check. A quality TV? Check. There were also quality ice machines filled with all the goodies in the halls and a great looking pool and spa which unfortunately we did not have the time or energy to take advantage of. The complimentary continental breakfast was decent for the kids but we still wanted to go eat a quality breakfast. The only other downside was that none of the vending machines were stocked, leaving us without bottled waters or any of the snacks we wanted. All in all a good budget find! read more

I thought long and hard about a rating for Bayshore Inn. Reviews are not useful if they are not fair and balanced. But eventually I decided I had to rate Bayshore Inn a 2. My expectations for a Best Western Plus, based on the brand as described, is that the place goes a bit above and beyond. There is no above and beyond here. We were here 3 nights and were consistently impressed by the lack of above and beyond. 1) Bay View Room. Ok, technically yes we could see the bay - over a commercial parking lot with a huge pile of dirt and a port-a-potty. 2) They are inexplicably stingy with towels. Two people for 3 nights and we were given 2 towels. Yes, you can call Housekeeping for a towel refresh, but no one answers or if they do they don't speak English. 3) Our "bay view" room had a small balcony with 2 chairs, and on one of them the mesh seat was completely torn making it unusable. As it turns out we wouldn't have used the balcony to view the bay anyway given that it was off in the distance and a terrible "view" anyway, but it speaks to a carelessness that we felt was a theme. Out of order ice machine, out of order spa, torn curtain - nothing major but not Plus. On the positive side, the room was clean. Also, there was a lovely garden courtyard. A room overlooking the garden would be much nicer than what we had, and I recommend requesting one. To summarize, nothing epically wrong here, but this property does not deserve to be labelled as or charge for Plus. It's just a plain old Best Western. It probably could be a Plus, but the management is just not on top of what that means to customers. read more

The hotel is just off the main highway so access is very easy. The staff are friendly and helpful. We were on the second floor overlooking the courtyard but there was no balcony. It was the walkway to other units so we kept the curtains drawn so people could not look into our room. The room was adequate and the bed was comfortable. When my husband went to use the hot tub he said that there was scum on top of the water and it was cold. The pool area was not usable. Breakfast was uninspired. read more

We stayed at this Best Western Inn last week. First to remind everyone. There was a landslide on N-101and the repair is ongoing, so anyone coming from North could be stuck in traffic for hours. Back to this Best Western. This is by far the most lovely Best Western I stayed. We reserved a room with Jacuzzi in the room which is nice. The shower and the bathroom has it own door to keep the moisture and smell from spreading. And there is a heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi at the entity. Since we were concerned about the COVID-19, we did not enjoy the pool. They have a hidden fish pond garden at the back of the buildings which I think is fantastic. Yes plenty of big Koi fish there! It was amazing to wake up in the morning and enjoyed the viewing of Koi. The complimentary buffet style conventional breakfast is another plus point. However, be sure to keep all your belongings in the cars unseen at night. This is Eureka, petty crime is common. I wish they have surveillance cameras installed. read more

The breakfast was buffet style (eggs, omlet, bacon, biscuits, yogurt, cereal, waffles, oatmeal). The bed was soft and the blanket was worn. There was fire at 2am and we all had to come out. What infuriates me is that I was able to recognize this almost immediately and was refused a refund. The person at the counter was very friendly and gave us a place on the 3rd floor with a very good view which we asked for and we got it. When we reported a small problem they checked it out immediately. The room we got is very good and has a great ocean view. Since me and my mom are platinum members we even got a cookie and a bag of chips. Everyone was very kind and I highly recommended staying here if traveling. Great value for money. Cute exterior and close to food if you're passing through and don't know where to go. Beds are the comfiest I have stayed in, I think in any hotel. Hot water is HOT, which is great! So Best Westerns aren't exactly the Hilton but this location has friendly efficient service and the rooms are clean and spacious. When we checked in they had a problem with their wi-fi not working but got it repaired fairly quickly. Their free breakfast is more than adequate and you get 10% off at the Mexican restaurant right next door. This place is a good choice if you're staying in Eureka. read more

Great location and value for a hotel. This place is perfect for those traveling with pets. We've stayed at the Best Western in Arcata a few times and have had great experiences traveling with our canines. This time around we stayed in Eureka closer to where we were doing business. This location is centrally located to shopping and restaurants. Close to the bay for a brisk walk in the morning. There's even an enclosed garden area with a koi pond that really give the place a tranquil setting in the middle of town. Breakfast here is a plus too with plenty of options to choose from. My only 2 complaints for this particular location though is that 1, the pet area is a strip of lawn on the street outside of the hotel premises, so it's a hike from the pet friendly rooms. The hotel says they are working on it and basically have me permission to let my dog do it's business anywhere on premises. ‍ The other nit is the toiletries provided. Where other best westerns have reusable/refillable pumps for Body Wash, Shampoo, etc... this establishment provided teeeeeny tiny one time use bottles and bar-facial-soap. The irony is that the product is marketed as natural, etc, but the amount of plastic waste resulting from these one time use bottles seems counter to their intent. Have stayed here for years during multiple business trips.I am use to having polite, helpful staff. I called to book a room on 9/30 for an upcoming trip and requested it be top floor and away from the Big rigs that run their refrigeration units all night. I have stayed here dozens and dozens of times since they opened and had them set up as our corporate hotel for others traveling here. I was always able to get the accommodation requested or close to the request. If not available the reservation clerk would select a room closest to my request. NOT THIS TIME! An extremely rude, snarky male answered the reservation desk at the hotel. He made fun of my request and said I cant guarantee any room. He asked if I was a Best Western member and I said yes and gave him my email address. Before , the reservation person always pulled it up by my phone number or email address. He said," we dont have anyone with that name" I said well, I am with a large company and was just here a couple months back and they have always quickly found my information. He snapped back , "well... do you want to talk to someone else? " I said no it doesn't sound like you could care less if I take my business as well as ALL company business somewhere else. And now Holiday Inn , a much newer and cleaner and professionally staffed hotel will get all of our business. Closer to town and no large trucks running loud generators all night! I am in customer service myself and would never speak to a client like this. His tone was unbelievable! I swear this guy is losing them business. Stayed here with my husband late October. No frills beds ok. I would have probably given it a 3 or quality of the room. Unfortunately, in the morning I made the terrible mistake of using the hotel room's hairdryer. It immediately started shooting sparks and lit my hair on fire, singing a large CHUNK of my hair down to .5 inches from my scalp. I now have a patch of hair which is completely burnt off and I have to part my hair to the side to cover it. I gave the hairdryer to the front desk girl and asked her that it not be returned to ANY room and thrown out. Upon plugging it in and turning it on it consistently sparked and repeated the problem. I didn't make a fuss to the front desk girl because it wasn't her fault specifically. However, the management or housekeeping in their hotel should do routine checks of the devices in the rooms. I am literally missing hair and could have been badly injured had a not had a towel nearby to press on my head and stop more hair from burning and then this would be a lawsuit, not a yelp post. read more

Safe, friendly, comfortable, basically epic. My room under promised and over delivered on many counts, including a beautiful garden with koi pond, ocean view, and in-room hot tub. They honor government rates so I got all this, plus a couple other out-of-room swimming options...All for a scant 100 bucks a night. Front desk staff were simply wonderful. The Mexican restaurant next door is quite good and honors discounts for hotel guests. Furnishings are very slightly dated. I will forgive them this. This Best Western is my favorite but this last stay I felt it was lacking. Upon check in I felt the front desk clerk was rude and was lacking in customer service etiquette. I was shocked because I have never experienced this type of behavior from BW staff. I did report him to manager and she was super nice and said she would talk to him. The sheets looked worn down and even had a hole. The shower curtain was totally worn. I'm wondering if pet friendly rooms aren't as nice as non pet rooms. I have to say more positives than negatives. I am perplexed by the reviews of this hotel. We stayed here as we were passing through and honestly since it was a best western I didn't have high expectations. Not only were my expectations met, they were exceeded. The rooms were very nice and CLEAN. The beds were comfortable. The pillows could have been slightly more firm.
