The motel is overpriced for being super nasty. The rooms are non smoking so there were several people smoking in their cars and standing around outside smoking. The furniture is stained and there were stains on one of our pillows. I'm not sure what the brown smear is on the wall near the bed and on the bed skirt. It could be vomit. Crappiest and most expensive quality inn I have stayed in...floors were dirty..tile...it seemed like they hadn't been mopped for ever! Stayed here from 11/5/2021-11/8/2021 We frequently stay in the area at this level of motel for hiking trips. Not exactly what I was hoping for from previous stays at other nearby hotels . Pros- Well lit parking lot. Felt safe Easy check in Good location in Eureka Cons- Incredibly tight parking lot The rooms aren't very clean. A decent amount of soap scum in the tub/shower. See through towels. Dust on lamps. When I wiped water off of the bathroom floor the cloth was very dirty. TV sound was horrific. I would consider staying here again if I couldn't book another place. read more

I've been to Eureka several times when my son was playing football out here. Now that he's in Minot ND, I don't come up. But my brother who lives in OR lives 5 hours from here and I live in Vallejo which is also 5 hours away, so we've decided that this is the in-between spot for us to have mini-reunions. Usually I say at the Clarion up the street, but they don't allow pets. Since my grandpuppy was coming with us, I had to find a "pet friendly" location. So, here we are. I arrived around 12:30pm and was able to check into one of our 2 rooms. It was located on the lower level on the corner of the building and street. Although you can hear the street, I liked being able to park my car right outside my window. Our room was very spacious with 2 queen beds, a small table with 2 chairs, a dresser with TV and a writing desk. The bathroom has a jacuzzi style tub however I don't think I'm brave enough to use it. Who knows how sanitary it could be? There is a microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker in the bathroom. The furnishing were clean, but were getting worn. It is definately time to replace the furniture and the decor. Everything seems to be vintage early 80's. The bedding however was excellent. The mattress was comfortable and the bed was double sheeted. Each bed had 4 pillows and there was an extra pillow and blanket available. The only drawback for the business traveler was the lack of electrical outlets. There wasn't any by the desk so I had to plug my laptop in and work from the table. Which meant that I couldn't use the phone if I had wanted to, since it was located on the desk. I'd suggest they get power strips and if you are traveling here in the near future, bring your own. I checked on the Continental Breakfast and yup, it's continental. We arrived while the coffee was being refreshed. Unfortunately for me, the decaf was gone and wasn't replenished yet. There were a choice of cold cereals, Swenhards Danish, Bagels, english muffins, oj, apple juice and milk. I overheard one of the other customers comment that the bowls weren't out for the cereal. Certainly not up to the same quality and level we are used to at the Claritin. Again, if it weren't for the puppy, you know where I would be. No worries, I'm going to have breakfast at the Samoa Cookhouse, if I can wake my brother up. Normally this location wouldn't be up to my usual standards, but it is very hard to find a place to take your puppy. Ok so first off I love the fact that they allow dog's because Casper will almost always be on my vacation's with me, lol! We walked in and he was extremly happy, lol, he being my dog Casper of course! He sniffed out every little nook and cranny and made sure it was up to par which it mos def was! After sniffing around for about an hour he finally crashed on the bed for nearly 2 hours, lol! Lets not forget to mention that they did have Jacuzzi tubs just like Joshua W. Mentioned! As for me my wifi connection was really good, although maybe that is because we were on the side of the hotel that is closer to the Super 8, lol, so maybe we were picking up the wifi connection from two spots, lmao! read more

An absolutely terrible bait and switch experience. Arriving at the "non-smoking" property, I entered a dingy office that reeked of cigarette smoke. The desk manager was arguing with a gentleman who was trying to check in. Apparently, there were fees that were not clearly disclosed on a mobile booking app. He was willing to pay anyway and was polite but irritated. The desk manager was obnoxious and eventually he refused service and made the man leave. I found the same issue with added fees that were not disclosed when I called to book. No breakfast served, although advertised and no reduction of charges. The parking was dismal and we were squeezed into our disabled space by a car parked in the access area next to us. Many guests had to park on the street or double park in the lot, blocking other cars. The dumpsters and garbage cans were overflowing and vile liquid drained across the parking lot. The room had been cleaned but residual smoking smell remained in the grubby stained furniture and drapes. We were escaping smoke from wildfires but ended up with an asthma attack from the room. The towels smelled so bad we didn't even shower. Being on the corner of the highway and another street, road noise and people yelling outside on the sidewalk was disruptive. There's no excuse for rudeness and dishonesty in the hospitality business. read more

The location isn't too great, it's off of a pretty busy street and the street is currently under construction. Despite this it was really quiet at night, especially with the fan on that they provided with the room. There is a fridge and a microwave which was helpful when we ended up with leftovers. Bed was comfy, no complaints on cleanliness of the room. It's definitely what you would expect for a hotel at this price. Only a 10 minute drive to sequoia park zoo and a 5 minute drive to cafe marina and woodley's bar, plus the chevron right next door was useful for last minute snacks. We enjoyed our stay in Quality Inn very much! We paid thru Priceline and the friendly front desk updated to 2 queen size room to accommodate our family of 3. Nice size room with huge bathroom, which separates the sink from the shower. Clear bedding and very comfortable mattress. Very quiet at night. This is our first stay at Quality Inn. What a pleasant surprise! Our next stay at Best Western at Crescent City was horrible compared to here, which unfortunately costs more to us. The only downside is the complementary breakfast. I guess the quality of your stay depends a lot on what room you get. This was our fourth stay in ten years and unfortunately, not nearly as good as two years ago when we were in a "newer" section of the property. This time, we reserved for one night and got what appeared to be a handicapped accessible room on the first floor of the "old" building. We presumed "accessible" because instead of a bath, we got a bathtub sized shower with a low ledge for easy entry. That wasn't so bad since we usually take showers anyway but there was a large tear in the "see-through" portion of the shower curtain. Then we discovered that the toilet flapper probably had a leak because every fifteen to twenty minute, more water would be let into the reserve tank. There various cracks and gaps here and there on the walls and baseboards and there was a smell of mildew in the room. The bed itself was reasonably comfortable but this room definitely in need of a make-over. The breakfast room was clean and the food decent. Scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, sausage, yogurt, instant oatmeal, cereal, coffee, orange and apple juices and milk were offered. read more

Vacationers beware! Not clean...other people's hair in shower, on floor and on bathroom counter. In COVID times we expected better...hell, in regular times we expect better! Everything was dusty and filthy. Other people's food was left in the refrigerator. Blood stains on pillow cases and bedspread. Unidentifiable spills and splatters on soft furnishings. After cleaning the room ourselves upon check in with sanitizing wipes (no cleaners available) the rude front desk clerk locked us out of our room after our second night claiming we had only reserved two nights. 4th of July weekend made it impossible to find any other room and allowed this clown to double bill us for a third night. He said he had called us "all day" and when confronted with my recent call list showing no calls from him, he changed his story to "someone else" was supposed to have called us. On top of this there were several strange people trying door handles on rooms at random. Doesn't seem to be any security and the wifi is turned off from 9pm to 6am. Very sketchy. The shower heads are plumbed for people 5'2" and under, if you're tall you will have to do bizarre gyrations to wash your hair in the dirty shower...come to think of it, maybe that's why there was hair everywhere. Will never stay here again and will never recommend to others. read more

Stopped here for just one night. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful. The room is large and clean with NO smell of previous smokers. (A huge deal for me) Excellent appointments in the room including a mini fridge, hairdryer, coffee maker and everything else some more expensive places offer. I'm only giving 4 stars because room 23 has a very large hole in the bathroom wall that needs repair and the toilet is not securely bolted to the floor. Other than those repairs.. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The service was horrible. I had booked through Travelocity so I didn't see the hotel until we arrived. I had paid through the app so I couldn't get my money back. The manger was RUDE. We asked for an extra blanket. He said you only get what's in the room. There wasn't a blanket in the room. We told him our ac wasn't working and he said yes it is fine. We tried to change to a room with 2 beds instead of a queen. He said no. You booked through 3rd party so that is what you get. read more

My first drive up ro Eureka took 9 hours due to hitting a rock and blowing my tire in the forrest. I had to flag someone down because my phone had no signal to call 911. This event caused me to get to the hotel after midnight after leaving Sacramento at 3:30pm. I get to the hotel...there were a lot of homeless people setting up camps and sitting along the road near and in front of the hotel. I am tired and share what csused me to so late coming. The male attendant said ot takes me 9 hours to get work to from where I live...NOT FUNNY! He takes my card and I learn in the morning he ran my card twice. Wells Fargo was deligent enough to send me an email my account is over drawn....not what I want to hear when I need to buy a tire! I call the front desk and I tell the man you charged my card twice. He proceeds to argue with me that he didn't do that. I tell him I'm looking at my Wells Fargo statement online and I see the charges. He then says well you don't have to be investigated and that could take 5 to 10 days. At this point I'm livid. I told him I am leaving this hotel and I want my money back and I want it back this morning. I go down to the front desk I show him my phone I show him the charges I show him my account is overdrawn he says he still doesn't know I call Wells Fargo get a banker on the phone put the phone on speaker so he can hear the bank or tell him that he is submitted to charges he then says again it has to be investigated for 5 to 10 days. I tell him you're stealing my money I don't appreciate it I want to leave here and I want my money I want the manager's name. He tells me to hold on he goes around the corner he calls the manager he tells a manager something he comes back and says well unfortunately if you leave today you're still going to have to pay for the two rooms I said I should not have to pay for the two nights I'm leaving because of your customer service and I reminded him he didn't even tell me where the room was after I asked for a downstairs room because I was so tired. He refused to give me a downstairs room so I had to creep up the stairs at 2 in the morning because by the time I can figure out where I was going to get myself together and get my things out of the car that's what time it was by the time I got in the room. So I told him you gave me the phone number to the hotel can you call the manager back so I can speak to her. He refuses saying she's not available I tell him I'm aware she's not here I'd still like to speak to her. He refuses again so I call Eureka Police Department. Of course that was no help either cuz it dispatcher calls me back and gives me the 800 number to call and complain with Quality Inn that they will not assist me. So I am just like great no customer service and no support from law enforcement. So I call Quality Inns 800 number and she's his own will you book through AAA you'll have to talk to them so I called AAA and I talked to them and they tell me what will you have to talk to Quality Inn so I tell the AAA representative what I've gone through so she decides to call them. So I didn't get too far with any one of course I'm having to wait to get any resolve. So I had to tap into another money source so I could take care of my tire and find lodging for the rest of the evening. The AAA representative tells me they're going to cancel my reservation to release the funds but that doesn't happen and here we are two days later and it still hasn't happened. So I don't recommend them unless you're okay with bad customer service, having your bank account locked up, no managerial accountability or response and want to pay twice for your reservation. I will recommend the Red Lion Inn Eureka it was clean no people were hanging around and it was quiet they also have an elevator. read more

Everything looks old and worn down with a fresh coat of paint over the old. Bed is hard as a rock, and I love a firm bed. There are transients in the parking lot, but I didn't find them disruptive. The hot tub was luke warm (to be kind), the jetted tub in our room (which I wanted to use because the hot tub wasn't hot) did not hold water, there were people lingering on the nearby street corner at all hours of the night and directly outside our ground-floor room we had two men sitting in their cars for hours (we still don't know what they were all up to), the room had lots of street noise, there was no air conditioning (it was a hot weekend and the floor fan in the closet barely helped us through the night), and our non-smoking room was directly next to a room of smokers (in a non-smoking room) that stood outside their door while they chain smoked. read more

I only gave it one star because it had the standard continental breakfast. The coffee was hot and the Belgian waffle smelled great. I went by the office at 8 a.m. and it was locked up. I was going to take a shower and found ZERO towels in the room. ( I think it was a prophetic start.) While standing at the office door someone walks out of the back and sees me and comes to open the door. When I tell him there are no towels in the room he tells me Housekeeping will be in at 9:30. I said I hope to be finished and checked out by then. "Oh, I think I have a couple backup towels behind the counter here." He pulls 2 towels out. I ask for a 3rd as I have 2 people in the room. "Oh, I gave you two didn't I?." I asked for a third for my wife. Well the trip for the towels was a waste of time. Went to take my shower and when I turned the water on. A dribble came out. I turned up high, no change. There is no water pressure in the shower. Maybe that's why there were no towels, no need. You can't take a shower, why have towels? DONT STAY HERE! Old tired hotel. The only reason we stayed was the Days Inn wasn't pet friendly and Quality Inn is for $15 extra per night. Not Quality at all. We will see if they refund our nights stay. Totally dissatisfied with this stay. Manager apologized for bad service. Team must have had a bad day? Says they use Water Savers to conserve water. Not being able to take a shower conserves a lot of water. Should refund my money since trip was so bad. read more

You can't really go wrong here. July 2013. I was in room 55, with two doubles and a big walk in shower with a seat. The room was well decorated, and clean. There was a microwave and a coffee maker (with coffee) and a nice 32in flat screen TV. They had really decent pillows, which are subjective I know, but they give 3, so that's nice if you like more support. We got lots of towels. The room also had a little desk, and a table, there was spacious for two. The wifi worked fine, both for the computer and my phone. Not slow, and easy to log into. The vanity area has a door to close, as does the toilet shower area, so if you are sharing a room with someone, it's like having a private dressing and bath area! It was a nice configuration! There was an iron in there. The space beneath the vanity was all open, which was a nice place to stash luggage out of the way. The staff were nice, especially the housekeeping and check-in clerks. The breakfast was more than I expected. Scrambled eggs with sausage (self-serve), even hard boiled eggs, yogurt, 4 kinds of dry cereal, hot cereal, some fruit, a selection of individually packaged pastries, juice, teas, and of course coffee. The coffee was terrible but there is a Dutch Bros. (awesome) half a block away across the laundromat parking lot. The coffee and tea is available 24 hours, the breakfast room seats about 20, cafe style, with the news on a wall mounted flat screen. There's an ice machine and a soda machine. I found it odd to read reviews that complained about "scuzzy people walking around". It's like they've never been to Humboldt county. I have family there, so I've been up there several times a year for the past 40 years, and there has always been a scuzzy contest going on - these people are harmless and not at all threatening. I'm female and went for a walk after 10pm...not an issue. most of the "scuzzy" people are walking here or there during the day - it's a common part of the scenery and certainly nothing you can escape when visiting the area. The Carson Mansion is half a block away, and the top of it can be seen above the trees from the 3rd street parking lot. These are very, very small blocks, BTW. Small-town blocks, not city blocks. This is a pet friendly hotel, and my only complaint would be that they use a re-odorizing product which is like what they use in care homes. It smells better than old-dog smell, but it's just as strong. The rooms need to be aired out a bit more after re-odorizing. Our second night was much better than the first. Room 55 was rather warm without heat, and we had to sleep with the window open. You can hear cars, but it's within tolerable levels. It's a small town, not a lot of traffic, and none to speak of at night. There were lots of people there with dogs, and I like dogs so it wasn't a problem. I believe that it was $10 per pet, per night. I would (and will) stay there again. I'd rather stay somewhere much nicer, but there's not a lot of choices in Eureka, and even so, this room was nice enough, and the staff was lovely, and the extensive breakfast options were a nice touch. I am happy that my usual place had no vacancy and I had to stay here - I will stay here from now on. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect after reading many negative reviews, but honestly, we had a very good experience. Sometimes, it's whether you see the glass half full or empty. The room itself was comfortable. Had what you needed (comfortable bed, clean bathroom, extra fans, microwave, coffee maker, and fridge). People who run the front are friendly. Comes with breakfast too, so for $100 bucks per night, it's totally worth the price/visit. As an added plus, you can bring your dog for $10 per night. read more

$80 for 2 queen beds. We found a spacious clean room, very generous bathroom with a spa bath and soft towels. The breakfast was a little "meh" but got the job done. Coffee is weak. But overall, a good value for a clean room and hot water. read more

We stayed here on a Saturday night for a weekend trip to Eureka to see the redwoods. They had some great staff members and rooms were comfortable and clean, it was also quiet at night for a good nights sleep.
