    Brown smear on the wall.
    Veronica T.

The motel is overpriced for being super nasty. The rooms are non smoking so there were several people smoking in their cars and standing around outside smoking. The furniture is stained and there were stains on one of our pillows. I'm not sure what the brown smear is on the wall near the bed and on the bed skirt. It could be vomit. I wouldn't recommend staying here or even in this town.

Overflowing garbage was a health hazard.

An absolutely terrible bait and switch experience. Arriving at the "non-smoking" property, I entered a dingy office that reeked of cigarette smoke. The desk manager was arguing with a gentleman who was trying to check in. Apparently, there were fees that were not clearly disclosed on a mobile booking app. He was willing to pay anyway and was polite but irritated. The desk manager was obnoxious and eventually he refused service and made the man leave. I found the same issue with added fees that were not disclosed when I called to book. No breakfast served, although advertised and no reduction of charges. The parking was dismal and we were squeezed into our disabled space by a car parked in the access area next to us. Many guests had to park on the street or double park in the lot, blocking other cars. The dumpsters and garbage cans were overflowing and vile liquid drained across the parking lot. The room had been cleaned but residual smoking smell remained in the grubby stained furniture and drapes. We were escaping smoke from wildfires but ended up with an asthma attack from the room. The towels smelled so bad we didn't even shower. Being on the corner of the highway and another street, road noise and people yelling outside on the sidewalk was disruptive. There's no excuse for rudeness and dishonesty in the hospitality business.

    Breakfast.... yeah..

I've been to Eureka several times when my son was playing football out here. Now that he's in Minot ND, I don't come up. But my brother who lives in OR lives 5 hours from here and I live in Vallejo which is also 5 hours away, so we've decided that this is the in-between spot for us to have mini-reunions. Usually I say at the Clarion up the street, but they don't allow pets. Since my grandpuppy was coming with us, I had to find a "pet friendly" location. So, here we are. I arrived around 12:30pm and was able to check into one of our 2 rooms. It was located on the lower level on the corner of the building and street. Although you can hear the street, I liked being able to park my car right outside my window. Our room was very spacious with 2 queen beds, a small table with 2 chairs, a dresser with TV and a writing desk. The bathroom has a jacuzzi style tub however I don't think I'm brave enough to use it. Who knows how sanitary it could be? There is a microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker in the bathroom. The furnishing were clean, but were getting worn. It is definately time to replace the furniture and the decor. Everything seems to be vintage early 80's. The bedding however was excellent. The mattress was comfortable and the bed was double sheeted. Each bed had 4 pillows and there was an extra pillow and blanket available. The only drawback for the business traveler was the lack of electrical outlets. There wasn't any by the desk so I had to plug my laptop in and work from the table. Which meant that I couldn't use the phone if I had wanted to, since it was located on the desk. I'd suggest they get power strips and if you are traveling here in the near future, bring your own. I checked on the Continental Breakfast and yup, it's continental. We arrived while the coffee was being refreshed. Unfortunately for me, the decaf was gone and wasn't replenished yet. There were a choice of cold cereals, Swenhards Danish, Bagels, english muffins, oj, apple juice and milk. I overheard one of the other customers comment that the bowls weren't out for the cereal. Certainly not up to the same quality and level we are used to at the Claritin. Again, if it weren't for the puppy, you know where I would be. No worries, I'm going to have breakfast at the Samoa Cookhouse, if I can wake my brother up. Normally this location wouldn't be up to my usual standards, but it is very hard to find a place to take your puppy. Price - $84 Weekend AAA in March w/puppy (3 adults) Price - $70 Weekend AAA in March w/o puppy (2 adults) PS - Don't get room # 27, I noticed that it is adjacent to the housekeeping office and I imagine it could be quite noisy.

    Casper enjoying my bed!

It was fine for one night but I don't know if I would choose the same type room if staying longer. The hotel has some history behind it and can be a little creepy if you decide to walk around at night by yourself. Our room was #16, located on the second floor. The room was a decent size with a sitting area with two chairs and a settee and a small armoire to hang your clothes. The bathroom was small with a walk in shower but the shower pressure was good and the water was warm. No air conditioning but there was an industrial oscillating fan in the room. Unfortunately, I didn't find the bed too comfortable and the headboard creaked a lot but it was ok for just one night. Taylor at the front desk when we checked in was very helpful and informative. We left early, around 8am and they had a complimentary breakfast available for guests consisting of bagels, sweet pastries, fruit, Tillamook cheese and sliced tomatoes and cucumbers which I presume are for the bagels. Cute spread!

The bed was absolutely comfortable. The aroma of the inn was absolutely overwhelming and not a pleasant odor. Our room was a good size, but the furniture was from when the inn opened in 1888. Not comfortable to sit on and relax on. The curtains were tied back in their periodic decor which made pulling them closed an ordeal ( there were 8 of them). Our door to the hallway had a significant leveling problem and could see into the hallway when the door was closed. Although I can appreciate the charm of the past it felt like everything (carpet, furniture, doors, walls) was "dirty"

All of the chairs in the dining room sink so low, you can just rest your chin on the table and shovel it in. What I found most problematic with this hotel is the lip service to ADA accommodations. There are no grab bars in the bathroom, not even soap dishes you could cling too if you slipped on the very slippery tub floor. The lighting and the switches to the lighting are incredible dim in the room making impossible to see with black on black backgrounds. For low visibility people, the randomly placed 'mood' lighting keeps people like me in the dark. Finally, for people with physical disabilities, getting one's luggage on a cart, then to an elevator, then into a room with extremely heavy doors that swing back so quickly, an injury is almost guaranteed. Unfortunately, I experienced all of this at Holiday Inn express in Eureka. I mentioned some of my difficulties to the registration desk, staff, and as nice as they were, they didn't care... they say they'll remodel next year, but if they really cared about providing accommodations for Americans with disabilities, they make the changes now.

Never seen that at a hotel before. Room came with a microwave & fridge which was nice to keep our snacks and water cool for the next days journey. Breakfast was complimentary, lots to offer. Eggs, turkey & pork sausage pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bagels, toast, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice and more that I don't remember. The offer onsite laundry room, a pool and jacuzzi and a workout gym. We didn't have a chance to use these but they were available. The parking lot has a brick half wall with a metal fence around the building. We felt safe where we parked, we checked often and never saw anyone snooping around. You will need a room key to get into the side entrance of building. When we come back to Eureka we will definitely book Holiday inn Express again. We felt very comfortable here and the hotel was centrally located torestaurants stores and gas stations.
