Cool looking bike with tons of little issues. It always had a flat, so I learned to change those . And I think i was in the shop once a month getting new breaks. So, I got a chance to get to know a few of the guys. Rob, who is a really chill swarthy young man in his early to mid twenties. This young man named Mark who was a extremely friendly young Mexican man who has moved on to becoming an Emt i believe. Any repair big or small they have completed ASAP, they're always professional and friendly to everyone who walks into those doors. And they are great with communication and calling. With my current Ebike, because the kabbit had a wiring issue and had a little fire, UNDER MY SEAT‍. I returned to Alan's because I knew id get a fair price for a decent bike. Sure enough Rob hooked me up with the Ava Big Sur, literally the first one they built out the box. I love this bike and I cant say enough good things. Well, there haven't been many problems but 3 big ones. This is to be expected because my bike is my transportation. So 365 this bike is on the road. first there was a wiring issue and the owner himself rewired my whole bike (2 year warranty FTW), then this time last year I was having throttle issues so we swapped that out for like 60 bucks, now its the controller which is funny because I told Rob I think the controller needs to be replaced with the throttle (you cant see me but im shaking my fist jk). All these repairs combined the big issue was the wait. If you could imagine suddenly youre walking 7 miles in the rain at 4am to work. But thats not their fault. Sadly they dont have the wearhouse from Indiana Jones so they dont have every part to every bike. I understand this is a long review, but I feel ppl only talk about when theyre mad. Never give flowers. So to Alan's Bike shop, personally, thank you for your years of fantastic service and amazing staff.

I had a recumbent picker rebuilt here - end to end replacement of nearly everything - and they did a great job. It took a while, mostly because of having to order parts. I would go out of my way to take my bike here, over other local shops.

Background: The week before 4th of July, I needed my rear brakes bled on my mountain bike, as I wanted to ride it in the Oceanside bike parade. The local bike shops near me had no availability, likely because the thousands of other riders in the area, also needed some service before the event. I called Omega, which is about a 20 minute drive for me, and they confirmed they could accommodate me. After putting a lot of road miles on my bike last year, I figured there would be some other items needing to be addressed. Regarding the rear brakes, they said they needed to replace the rear caliper, not just bleed the brakes. Omega then messaged me and said the chain was stretched beyond its service specs, and I approved the replacement. Then came a message saying shifters needed to be degreased, and one adjusted. Also, the rear tire was older and they also recommended replacing it. Cool, approved. Then a call saying the rear cassette should be replaced, as the teeth on it were also worn beyond spec. My $65 brake bleed was now a $400 bill, but again, I put thousands of road miles on it last year, and as this was a high end bike when I bought it 15 or 16 years ago, I'm OK with spending some money on it. Fast forward to picking it up a few days later. I didn't bother test riding it in the parking lot, as I trusted they did that, so I took the front tire off and put it in my hatchback. The next day, I go to ride it for the bike parade, and immediately found that while pedaling, it's making all sorts of grinding noise, and the chain is frequently jumping off the front sprocket. Note, I had no drivetrain issues before bringing it in, it shifted well and always stayed in the gear I put it in. The bike parade was a slow, 5mph ride, all of 7 miles round trip, so I dealt with it. After the holiday weekend, I brought it back to Omega, let them know what was going on, and left it with them. They called and let me know one of the front chainrings was worn, and needed to be replaced. OK, odd that this wasn't noticed while they were doing all of the other drivetrain work, but I approved it, and some new grips to replace my original ones that were getting sticky. I picked up the bike, again removed the front wheel to fit it in my car, and brought it home. Right after pickup, the family took a vacation, so while a few weeks passed, zero miles were put on the bike. The day after I got back in town, I go to ride the bike, and it has the exact same issues as it did when I brought it in the last time! I bring it back to Omega, leave it with them, and they message me later in the day that the rear hub was loose, and that there was a broken chain link (again, this was a brand new chain that they installed 7 miles ago, and they were the only one who touched the rear hub with all the work they did). When I went to pickup the bike, there was no apology, and furthermore, Mark, who I believe is the owner, made comments that the chain was very dirty. I reiterated that the bike had literally been ridden 6 or 7 miles on the road since the first service, when it was replaced, so I'm not sure how that would be. The woman who works the counter also had to chime in with some comment about the chain being dirty as I was walking out. I don't even know what that would have to do with anything as they said the issue was a broken link and lose hub! Reading the other below average reviews shows others have dealt with their rudeness as well. As such, I won't be returning, nor can I recommend this shop.

I went to look at helmets, Walter was already ringing up my husband. Where he attempted to pull a bait and switch with the tag. He rang it up at $350 PLUS $25 set up fee. When my husband asked to see the tag, he would not show it and then said it was wrong, looked on the official bike site and THEN held up a smaller bar code tag that stated $325. (Not our fault). He was being shady, and then stated "I'll take off $20". This is a $5 difference. It's the principle of the bait and switch tactics. He was quick to take off $20 because he knew he wasn't being honest. He never stated while we were asking questions at the bike at the display that it was actually a different price. He dampened a really fun experience of buying a bike for our son's birthday. We didn't walk out excited by the bike, we walked out feeling gross. We have bikes- he asked that- we could've been repeat customers had he not pulled this. It's a terrible practice and we won't be going back. We didn't buy the helmet- and the only reason we didn't walk out was because the bike my son wanted was there in store; the color is hard to come by. We bought the bike- as you can see on the receipt the bike is $330 with a $25 fee. If all the tags stated (as you can see in the various price points that the RTR fee is INCLUDED) why would the math not math? The Riprock coaster (picture included) 16" was the same price as the 20". We bought the 20". Same tag same price same INCLUDED FEE. It's shame that this was the experience of trying to buy local.

We did the entire route (stopping once to use the restroom) in approximately 30 minutes (and we are definitely not currently in shape). I don't know why someone would rent one of these bikes for longer than an hour. The bikes/surreys are a bit dated, but it worked decently. It's definitely a good workout, but you have to share the route with cars and lots of other bike riders, walkers, pedestrians, etc. I would recommend this excursion for anyone trying to kill some time near the beach and catch some ocean breeze.

We had never driven or ridden on an e-bike before but that didn't matter because the owner goes over everything you need to know in great detail and shows you all the safety rules and driving tips. He even rides down to the beach with you to make sure you have a hang of it before letting you go out on your own. We rented for an hour and got to ride all around Oceanside. Recently, I had them come out because I suspected termites in one of our rafter tails. To their credit, they correctly identified that specific spot as just fungus and didn't try to oversell me on treatments I didn't need. However, their inspection was incredibly brief. They spent only a few minutes scanning the house, didn't check the attic at all, and gave us the all-clear. A couple of days later, I had a second company come out for another look. They spent almost an hour doing a thorough inspection and found a severe termite infestation in a different rafter tail that was almost entirely hollowed out. They spotted the signs right through the paint. Green Flash completely missed this. On top of the missed inspection, the wood rot repairs Green Flash did for us 5 years ago (costing about $1,200) have both failed and need to be redone. They spliced a rafter tail that is now loose, and it turns out they miscut a replacement barge board on the back of the house. To cover up the bad cut, they glued a scrap piece of wood over it, which has since detached and is currently hanging off the board. Bottom line: They failed to do a thorough termite inspection, and their carpentry work doesn't hold up. I highly recommend getting a second opinion on their inspections and hiring a dedicated specialist for any actual wood repairs.

I ended up selecting a Duralum cover that his company also offers, and I'm glad I did. It's just the look I was going for. I was also impressed with Adam's business model, which is built on quality and efficiency at a very reasonable price without cutting corners or sacrificing customer service. Now for the best part: A guy named Brody, his lead installer. In addition to being a super nice guy, his work is meticulous. The back of my home isn't linear, so there are bump-outs and protrusions, making the installation more difficult and time consuming. This wasn't the slightest challenge for Brody and his team. The finished product is snuggled tightly against my stucco and professionally sealed on the roof to prevent any water dripping through when it rains. I watched him work, measuring and cutting the aluminum to match my home so the fit and finish is far greater than I imagined. As you can tell from the photos, I still have work to do (concrete coating, fence repairs, etc.) to match the beauty of my new cover.

We were in the market for eBikes and talked to someone who was riding one of the brands I had researched. He gave a huge endorsement for George, Brooks and the folks at Mostly eBikes so we went to check it out. Everyone of the staff were knowledgeable and super helpful and patient with us as we test rode different models and asked a boatload of questions. We never felt pressured and they made sure we were going to be satisfied with our decision. This was one of the best retail experiences I've had in a long time. This past weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting George and Stephon at 'Mostly E-Bikes' on Wisconsin Ave in Oceanside CA. I found them both, to be informative, professional, polite and very knowledgeable about their bicycles. The Shop was very busy and I had a lot of questions about the Townie Electras; but they were patient with me and willing to spend the time to answer all of my questions. I reiterated that the bike had literally been ridden 6 or 7 miles on the road since the first service, when it was replaced, so I'm not sure how that would be. The woman who works the counter also had to chime in with some comment about the chain being dirty as I was walking out. I don't even know what that would have to do with anything as they said the issue was a broken link and lose hub! Reading the other below average reviews shows others have dealt with their rudeness as well. As such, I won't be returning, nor can I recommend this shop.

If you can't tell from the photos, this is a one man repair shop. So if you call and Gordon does…read morenot answer, don't be discouraged he is probably helping a customer. I almost didn't even give him another thought when I got his generic voicemail, but I was desperate so I decided to drive by. Short story was I was leaving on a MTB trip and I needed to change out my pedals. On a prior day I had already tried and snapped 1 Alan wrench. Then I tried again and almost bent the second Alan wrench. Took it to one bike shop who actually bent his Alan wrench. Every other place was closed on Mondays so even though Gordon was not answering I decided to go by. I am glad I did. To find the shop, trust in Google. It is tucked way back in the corner of a lot, behind other buildings. If you come at it from Beech it will be much easier to find. Anywho, once I found the place I saw Gordon helping another person who also seemed to be in a pinch. Looked like he needed his rim trued up. He finished up pretty quickly, charged what seemed to be a reasonable rate and the guy left smiling. I was up next. I told Gordon my story and he decided to give it a go. He taught me a little trick of using your foot to deal with pesky pedals. On his initial attempt the wrench went flying. We thought he had snapped the Alan wrench. After closer inspection, the wrench did not break, the pedal actually broke free. His tactic worked! My pedal was free! After speaking with him a bit more he was clearly very busy. But he knew my task was gonna be either quick or a no go. I really appreciate him giving it a go despite failed prior attempts and being so busy. Aside from helping me out of a pinch he also gave me a really helpful tip on pedal removal. Definitely going back for future bike repair/maintenance! Thanks Gordon!
