My friend picked Mostaza as a dinner destination, and it turned out to be both fun and exceptional. The restaurant is very difficult to find because it's in the middle of a residential neighborhood; when you arrive it feels like you're knocking on the front door of someone's house, and in a way that's exactly what you're doing ;-) The minute you enter this hidden gem of a restaurant, you'll be welcomed like family. Dining here is a wonderful way to become familiar with New Mexican cuisine at some very reasonable prices. I suggest that you opt for the tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything we tried during our visit was completely delicious, but the dishes that stand-out in my memory are the fish cheek ravioli in vegetable broth, the pumkin seed hummus, and the grilled octopus taco. The Mexican wines that were paired with our dinner went with the food like rhythm with music :-) Bottom line: Especially if you're a foodie, this place will give you an amazing culinary adventure with impeccable service at a very reasonable price - highly recommended! read more

This is certainly a beautiful hidden gem! Away from the hustle and bustle of zona hotelera and tucked in a corner, of you don't know it exists you will miss it. The tasting menu is an absolute must! I had such an amazing experience trying thing in normally wouldn't have. The food was phenomenal, and they paced the dishes very well; the sever explained everything meticulously and ensure to check on me to ensure I was enjoying all my dishes. Hidden restaurant, need to ring the bell to get in. The tuna tacos are so good! Also the pork belly tacos! Tamarindo sauce with bread and chips are delicious. Good wine selection. The best meal I've ever had! Truly this is was such a phenomenal experience. Chef Tiago is an absolute genius! Our server was so so lovely too. We went at 5pm and it was just us, so it felt like a private dining experience. We tried the tasting menu, and every single dish was such a brilliant combination of flavours and textures. I can't suggest this place enough. It's fantastic. I would go back to Cancun just to eat there again. Oh and don't be discouraged if it looks closed from the outside! We went on a market tour with the chef from Mostaza. He actually is the tour guide with a company called OlMar Travel Mexico. So we found the restaurant at an off the beaten path.... Discreetly adorned front door. We knocked on the door to be greeted by friendly welcoming staff. We felt like we were in a private club. The food, wine and atmosphere was fantastic. Try their "sampler" Dinner plate... You get amazing tastes of the best of what they have to offer. We were so impressed and delighted. The chef came bye and gave us big hugs and warm kind smile. Rang the doorbell, a lady opened it and welcomed us. Another couple was in the corner finishing up drinks. We had the table of our choosing 1 hour until close. Started off with a couple glasses of red wine from Mexico, ever so slightly chilled. It was an oppressive humid outside. Not intending to, we asked for a menu. An appetizer stood out to us, but we had just eaten elsewhere. Got the Mexican Chocolate dessert instead. Another glass of wine. Admired the succulents all around the small restaurant. Mostaza is a hidden gem! My husband and I randomly found Mostaza on Yelp while looking for a place to have dinner on our last night of mini-moon bliss and thought Mostaza looked good from the few reviews it had and we were delighted it was literally right next to our air bnb. We google mapped Mostaza and apparently walked right by it since it was so hidden and only has an M on the fence, we rung the doorbell and came out the most friendliest calming woman. When we got into the restaurant, no one was there. It was a bit weird to be the only ones there but the place was beautiful. I loved all the succulents and how simple and minimalistic the decor was. Aside from the restaurant being beautiful the tasting menu was delicious! I loved everything! It was like Mexican food with a fine dining twist. All the dishes were beautiful and everything tasted good! My husband and I were excited to try every dish that came out. We didn't regret trying Mostaza and recommend it to anyone visiting Cancun! read more

The Chef who pioneered this space is one of the finest I've ever known. To be so incredibly talented at his age is such a rare find. We met Tiago on a trip to Isla Mujeres where he was upgrading and revising the fine dining menu at a 5 star resort. His food was so impressive we had to meet him and thus began a lovely friendship. My husband is also a chef and they had fun sharing ideas. His food is always creative, innovative and a party for you palate! Please don't walk, RUN to Mostaza! An absolute hidden gem. We found this place on the second day of our four days stop in Cancun and wished we had encountered it the day we arrived as we ended up eating there everyday. The food is sublime and the lady that served us all three times was as sweet as it gets. Rarely had I gotten such a delicious surprise out of a restaurant. The flavors are amazing and you can tell that everything is cooked with love and the best ingredients. Even the fact that the restaurant is somewhat hidden makes you feel like you found a secret treasure. My friends and I only had one night in Cancun and luckily were staying right next to this restaurant. It was the end of our trip and we'd been looking for a cooking class without success. Santiago, the chef, was flexible and accommodating enough to hold an impromptu cooking class for us in his restaurant. We got to enjoy three delicious meals - cauliflower risotto, fish and pear, and tuna tacos - and four desserts that were absolutely delicious. Our waitress was a huge help in picking out the wine we were looking for and the kitchen staff were so friendly as well. It was an awesome experience and perfect end to our trip! If we find ourselves in Cancun again, this would be our first place to go back to. read more
