This is the best store for everything in the hotel zone. From reasonable souvenirs to half a floor devoted to alcohol and a complete, real pharmacy not to mention groceries. The second floor is half alcohol. There is also a bar where you can get an alcoholic beverage while you shop! And, oh, yes, there is a deli with hot & cold meal offerings you can take onto their outside patio to eat overlooking the lagoon! Best kept secret in Cancun! They do custom birthday cakes on the second floor, too, so no need to pay exhorbitant hotel prices to celebrate a loved one's special day! Entire cakes here are $17-$20! Definitely bring your own shopping bag & be prepared to tip the bagger a few coins at checkout. You can pay by card or even US dollars, but change is in Mex pesos. Great place! read more

We stayed in a hotel near to this grocery store so we came here to get some fruit and to see what they offered! We opted to get some cut fruit because it was so cheap here. A tub of mango, pineapple, or watermelon was only two dollars each! They also had a lot of baked goods that looked yummy and a small food court. I also tried the flan, which was very delicious and not too sweet (which is how I like it). Overall, great grocery store! I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area. read more

Gigante super mercado! This supermarket is huge! This big supermarket has everything you'll need for a beach holiday! It's a regular supermarket, but I suspect that the locals don't shop here at all. The prices are pretty high, and much of the food isn't quite practical. This is a two story grocery store- not counting the parking. Be sure that you don't miss the top floor, where all the liquor and food hall is. Nom! Parking is on the bottom floor. They sell you validation at the cash register. Beware- the grocery bagger is looking for tips. My favorite part of the supermarket is all the cheap Mexican gifts they sell, with clearly marked prices. Actually, many of them are cheaper than the flea market down the way, because you don't have to haggle and deal with the cat calls from the clerks. Beware of the touts selling excursions and whatnot at the entrance. Just because they're in a supermarket doesn't mean they can't take advantage of gringos. This supermarket gets awfully busy in the afternoon. The aisles are narrow. It's best to come at an off time. read more

Omg this is such a beautiful and awesome grocery store. Its massive compared to the other supermarkets in Cancun that I went to and has so many neat features like a full, upscale liquor and wine store on the second floor complete with a self-serve wine tasting bar. The first floor is all grocery but it's organised really well and has an amazing selection of anything you can imagine. The second floor is mostly prepared and specialty food ie imported goods etc. You can get sushi, pizza, ceviche, you name it. Everything is priced reasonably and looks very clean and well-prepared. The last time I came here I came with my Mom some five to six years ago. When you first enter there is a garage for cars. If you have a bag pack on they zip tie it with a number and you can go back to them and they will cut it for you. They are doing thier best to cut down on theft but they sure do get a lot of customers a day. The coolest thing is that have a huge conveyor belt that goes up and down. When you enter the supermarket it's almost overwhelming. They provide so many different things. Like a nice, clean super Walmart on steroids. They offer cleaning products, cleaning instruments, pots and pans, place mats, washing and hand soap, trash bags, meat market, a bakery with extensive offerings, frozen food and fresh produce. They have aisles of non perishables. I like that a lot of the products that are American have thier own taste. Like they taste like it's fresher. Mexican Doritos are amazing! Like amazing amazing. I don't even like Doritos or chips that much but I had a bag every day and would suck on the powder for a bit before eating it........TMI. If you have a hotel with a stove and fridge and microwave it's perfect. If you just have a little fridge and with a microwave it's good too. There are a lot of snacks available! read more

Mega grocery store with tons of plant-based/vegan options! This store is a chain in the area. We were fortunate to have this super superb location within walking distance of our hotel. This location is huge, three floors, and very clean, neat, & tidy. We stopped by this place almost every day to grab some snacks and drinks! Plus, we got tons of candies on the last day to take home for friends and family. Like many stores in the US, Selecto Chedraui has tons of vegan items. Chips, snacks, candies, desserts, food, and drinks. We were very impressed to see their frozen dessert section containing Daiya brand ice cream, pops, & cheesecakes. (fire!) Very grateful for the opportunity to shop here. COVID NOTES ***CANCUN & area was phenomenally incredible as for Covid. We were super impressed all around on how business' provided Covid safety protocols, and masks were worn indoors and outdoors by locals!*** -Temperature checks right at the door. -Hand Sanitizer provided. -Indoor dining was available for an inside cafe and eatery. -Excellent customer service, masks were required, staff wore masks and gloves. -No issues at all. Has everything that you can think of and need for your day to day routine during your vacation. Including cooking your salmon steaks for no extra cost. Just pick out the salmon cut that you like and have them marinate, season it and cook to your desired liking. Also a great bakery, produce department with stalks of aloe Vera leaves for the sun and care of your skin. Outside dining or indoor dining. Sushi, salad bar, pasta cooked to your fancy, pizza oven freshly made to order. Juice bar, smoothies, gelato bar, fresh coffee Cafe. Plus soooooo much more. Safe place to shop. They even have a small pharmacy - though across the street is a pharmacy that is great and inexpensive and will have or get your prescription ASAP. Love this place selecto !!! read more

I never thought I would leave a review for a supermarket, but I really like this place. It's a decent walk from the Intercontinental hotel where I usually stay. This is my 4th trip to Cancun in 16 months. Me self and the Mrs. like to stock up on water when we arrive, and we buy whole bean coffee here to bring home. What I really like is eating here. They have a great wine selection, where you can grab a bottle, bring it to the register by the beer taps upstairs, and pay for it. Then a guy will come with with glasses and opens it for you. In the meantime, you can select a streak from the butcher department, and bring it to the cafeteria area where you pay and they grill to order. That same guy who opens your wine bottle will also hook you up with steak knives, or anything else you want. (Just remember to pass a few dollars to the people who take care of you) I also love the guacamole that's prepackaged and ready to eat, and you can pick out whatever tortilla chips you like best. On the second floor balcony is their cevicheria which serves delicious fresh and reasonably priced ceviches. Most of the people eating up stairs seem to be locals, which is always a good endorsement. I also love their bakery department, which is also conveniently located next to the dining area. The make a really nice opera pastry among other things. If none of the above is your thing, there is a full assortment of cheeses from Switzerland and France and beautiful cured hams available. The fresh produce is also upstairs and the selection is vast. This is a really good way to get yourself a good feed, at a reasonable price, and mix with the Mexican people. read more

Update: This was a 4 hour presentation in which the person was immensely pushy in selling a vacation club package. It was pretty much a timeshare presentation. ------- Came here today and received great service from the cashier and bagger. After reading the reviews, I really do feel bad to hear that the bagger does not get any income at all, that is horrible to say the least! On our way out, we met a guy wearing a shirt with Villa del Palmar named Luis Martinez. It was inside the supermarket by the escalator. He gave us a great deal on excursions about 50% off if we visit the resort supposedly to take pictures and recommend the resort to others. He gave a convincing presentation and we gave $40 down payment. We are supposed to meet him tomorrow to go to Villa del Palmar, have breakfast and go to Puerto Juarez. I am really wondering if this is a scam or not, but I am hopeful it is not as it is inside Selecto Chedraui. I will come back to write down my experience. read more

This review is from the point of view of an American tourist with limited Spanish-speaking skills. Overall good experience with one exception. Super Chedraui Selecto is a great place to get affordable food while in the Cancun Hotel Zone. We were staying in a hotel nearby (Aloft Cancun) and we came to Chedraui almost every day for food & drinks. One of our favorite things to buy was the roasted quarter chicken. It came with a small side of rice, onions, a pepper & a tortilla. It was ready-made and kept warm and cost only 48 pesos (about $2.50 USD) They also have a nice selection of sushi & poke bowls. The sushi cost 86 pesos ($4.50 USD) You can buy these ready-meals and eat there. They have a nice outdoor area as well. They also have meals you can order, however this is very difficult if you do not speak Spanish. I had an awful experience trying to order pasta one day. There's a large menu posted on the wall listing pasta (all posted menus were entirely in Spanish - good luck) There are 3 areas with registers and it was very difficult to figure out: 1) where to order; 2) where to wait for your food. I had to place to order at one register (by the coffee area) but didn't know where to wait for the food. I tried asking the guy near the second register area (where food was being prepared) but he kept ignoring me & muttering something in Spanish. It didn't help that my Spanish isn't very good. But the guy wouldn't even make eye contact so I couldn't tell if I was in the right area to wait for my food. There was a third area with a register & people lining up to order food. A customer who spoke some English suggested I wait on that line, so I did. But that made no sense since I had already paid for my meal at the 1st register - so why wait on a line to pay again ? I found another customer who spoke better English as well as Spanish & she, too, was frustrated at not knowing where to pick up her meal. She had also tried to get the attention of workers behind the counters but they were ignoring her as well. It was all very frustrating! I felt pretty helpless. Finally, I heard my name called for my meal - this was at the station where the pasta was being prepped (by the guy who kept ignoring me) It took about 30 minutes from the time I ordered for the food to be ready. (I wasn't upset about the time it took, just that I had no way of knowing when & where it would be ready) Also, when I had first placed the order, I asked for pasta with shrimp ("pasta con camarones") but the cashier told me they were out of shrimp so I had to order chicken ("pollo") When I saw the guy preparing the food, he was preparing several plates of pasta with shrimp! So I don't know why I was given incorrect information. That was another frustrating part of my order experience. However other than that one (disastrous) meal, we had good experiences at Super Chedraui. Make sure to check out their bakery. Very nice selections and good prices. I was happy to find pretzels with cheese sauce among the pastries. Not only good prices for prepared food, groceries & drinks (large bottles of water only 9 pesos! About 50¢) but also great place for affordable souvenirs. Much cheaper than the souvenir shops and the airport. You can also buy toiletries, beach/camping gear, clothing - all prices seemed reasonable. There are motorized ramps to go to each level. They are nice in that they have a mechanism that prevents the carts from rolling down the ramps. There are also elevators & stairs. Lots of parking available. read more

Selecto Chedraui is a very inviting super store. It offers food, some clothing, pharmacy, liquor, and other various items. Selecto Chedraui reminds me of a mini Walmart except it's very upscale. Prices are very reasonable and the items stocked are a good mix for tourist and locals alike! The shopping aisles are wide, the store is very clean, and the staff is very friendly and helpful! There are ATMs that offer Pesos and dollars for your shopping convenience. The store accepts Amex, Visa, and MasterCard as well. read more

This contemporary grocery store was located practically next door to our hotel. On the day we arrived, we decided to do some shopping. They have 2 levels and a ground floor parking garage. Joe K and I were impressed at how large and well stocked this chain store was! A non step escalator takes you conveniently up and down the levels that somehow hang on to your shopping cart without any effort on your part! The first floor was more equipped as a Walmart style department store while the second floor was an amazing grocery that had a pizzeria, deli & salad bar, coffee shop & Gelato, delicious bakery, do-it-your-self wine tasting dispenser, huge liquor section, plus all of the other food items one would ever need and expect at a grocery! We visited this place almost on a daily basis to pick up essentials or just eat here. My first impressions were, that this high class store deserves 5 stars for sure! But we eventually experienced some negative aspects that forced me to scale down the star rating. At check out, they frown upon giving too much change back. We were turned down one time because we only had a $20.00 bill. We were treated disdainfully as if it were a counterfeit bill or something. They couldn't even give a reason, just that they refused to accept it. Then we found out that customers are expected to tip the baggers because they are not even paid a wage to work there! They rely heavily on tips only! Buying reusable shopping bags are also a source of income for the people who stand by at check out, hoping you will purchase their bags. And because the employees are paid so poorly, tips are appreciated at all times no matter what department you are dealing with! I can't believe how the local Mexican people are treated here! It's obvious that mostly tourists utilize this store, because they are the ones who can afford to shop at this place! You would think that such a nice store could be more of an upstanding employer for the community! read more

The only grocery we shop at when in Cancun. You should be able to find everything you need here. They have expanded their fresh meat department. No more vacuum sealed meats, very similar to the States. Excellent liquor department, and bakery. The produce section is average to below average. This was a super cool store! Had everything that you could need in one spot. I was a little confused as I didn't realize that there were two levels, but the upper level has the fruit, meat and dairy where as the lower level is more of snacks and toiletries. Greatest supermarket of all time! We stayed at a hotel right down the block and were here every night of our stay. Not only does it have an incredible variety of food, there's an incredible food court on the second floor. The food court has tacos, ceviche, pizza, pasta, etc! This is a great spot to stop by right before the beach. Pick up some snacks and drinks and make your way over. Also, if you're planning on going on longer day trips, taking some bread from their bakery is perfect. In addition, there are less sketchy ATMs available if you need some cash! read more

If I could give this six stars I would! This place was amazing. We went upstairs and ordered the tacos of the day which were served to us fresh!!! There is an outdoor eating area that overlooks the water and fridge filled with Mexican beer. If beer is not your thing they also serve chilled wines by the ounce as well as rum slushies. There is a revolving sushi counter as well as a bakery filled with fresh pastries! We just loved it here and are so glad we took the bus to el centrist so that we could stumble upon this. While I was there we also picked up some Mexican coffee and souvenirs! Who thought this super market would be one of the highlights of our trip. read more

Wow, what a wonderful market. Downstairs is mostly dry goods and tourist supplies, bottled water, sun stuff, t-shirts. Upstairs has a hot food area, bakery, produce, alcohol. I don't think you could want for anything that is not available in this store. Upstairs has a good seating area with a view. I did not try any of the hot foods but the shredded pork looked especially yummy. This store is beautiful and clean. Convenient location. We were staying at a time share not an all inclusive and it was about a five minute walk to the store from our villa. Impressive selection of produce and food as all as all the touristy knick-knacks. My gripe comes in two areas- they have the annoying tours sales people there and the cashiers will continually try to short change you. I will start with the good. Selecto Chedraui is fairly clean, has great prices, a nice selection of prepared food, is conveniently located and has seating with a view. Now for the bad part, Selecto Chedraui does not pay its employees well and they are poorly trained and not very consumer friendly and it really shows. As a matter of fact, they don't pay their beggar baggers at all and make them beg for tips. You would think the price of your groceries would pay for at least some of their wages but the owners are obviously pathetic, poor excuses for human beings. Then you better have very close to exact change or they won't accept your pesos. We are not talking about a small corner market here, we are talking about a huge supermarket that goes out of their way to make you feel like a criminal if they have to make change and will actually refuse to let you buy your groceries. We are not talking about huge sums of money either. We are talking about under a hundred pesos ($5) in change. Either bring lots of change or your credit card. read more

This grocery store is what we are missing in the states!!! Not only can you sip Rose from a dispensing machine for 30 pesos (a lil over $1) while you shop, but there is a fresh butcher on site and one of the largest produce sections I've ever seen. I was able to get all the necessities from my usual Publix ( in Espanol) but also some of the freshest meats, cheese and veggies I've ever had out of the country. There is even a bar with frozen drinks, beer and cocktails to sip while shopping in addition to the wine and rose dispenser. Ummmmm can I just live here? K thanks. Also, they deliver for a small tip. If you are staying or living in Cancun and have a full kitchen, take a bus for 12 pesos and have your groceries delivered back to your condo. Sometimes they even beat you home!!! Didn't really plan on going here for lunch, but it was close to the spa we went to before. We were hungry and wanted to go to the beach quickly so we stopped here for food. It's definitely a food court vibe and kind of confusing, not necessarily a tourist stop. I got a mexicano pizza which was crispy and delicious--probably not authentic, but nonetheless it was good and cheap! We wanted to get some souvenirs before catching our flight back home. I remembered seeing this supermarket from our hotel shuttle to the marina. So, we walked a good 10 minutes until reaching here. Afterwards, we made it upstairs and spotted chocolates. However, the selection was not the best. However, we did see a great selection of T-shirts. After trying on a few to size up, we got 3 shirts each to bring home for our parents. Overall, it is better than getting it at the flea market. Also, we could pay by credit card to avoid paying the little cash we had left over. read more

This place is great for breakfast. Go to the top level and you will find the food and tables to eat at. We got some delicious pan dulce. They also have hot food including pancakes. We stopped at Selecto Chedraui to pick up some water after dinner one night and we were instantly sucked in! This grocery store is amazing! The first floor looks like your typical grocery store, but you must go upstairs where they have their market, bakery, fresh product and alcohol. This is definitely a "higher-end" grocery, but the prices were reasonable. The bakery goods, like most of Mexico, are out on display and they are unreal. Everything from fresh breads, cookies, donuts and croissants. It was hilarious to see everyone taking snaps of the bakery section here- including myself! They also had a nice selection of fresh seafood and a variety of cheeses. We didn't eat here, but there were quite a few of people upstairs eating from the market- they have seating as well as an outdoor patio.
