How did I not know about Super Chedraui Selecto the past 2 years??? Awesome place that is literally one-stop for EVERYTHING! I am always looking for cheap swimwear that I don't mind if it's ruined in a pool with too much chlorine. Jackpot! 2 bikinis (not horrible looking) for $40. Splurged $25 for an spf50 Corona rash guard for when I got hunting shark teeth in a few weeks. Found some spices to take home & some chips to snack on now. Then I headed to the top floor to grab a quick lunch. I got a sandwich & a coke for $5.40. They had sushi to eat there, paella, pizza and steak! I chose to sit outside on the terrace. It was cool looking over the lagoon. Also on the 2nd floor was their huge liquor selection. They had employees offering samples!!! I am not schlepping liquor home, but the Moet & Chandon was less than at BJs Club. There was a bar selling mixed drinks. A Bloody Mary was $3.90!!! Not that I'd come here to drink up, but hey, I'd be a lot more chill shopping after a couple of those! What a fun visit!

Bad experience: I got very sick from FOOD POISONING eating a Tuna roll at the Chedraui SUSHI bar. I was hungry and did not notice the tuna was a bit dry-looking until I ate most of it. I vomited 3 hours later for 2 days & suffered bad stomach cramps, and lost 2 days of my vacation. I noticed the Sushi plates stay on the conveyor belt too long WITHOUT refrigeration. This is a serious health hazard that management needs to address as someone with a weak immune system could die from eating here. https://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/symptoms.html https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g150807-d7653307-r922299283-Chedraui_Selecto-Cancun_Yucatan_Peninsula.html#

Chedraui Selecto was my first visit to an international grocery store in Cancun, Mexico. It was located in the heart of a touristy hotel area and had two levels connected by flat escalators. The first level had souvenirs including t-shirts, cover-ups, shot glasses, magnets and much more. The souvenir prices compared to a few other stores in the area were not bad. The first level also had pantry items such as cereal and paper products. The second level had a produce section, credit card wine dispenser with multiple selections, deli, bakery, sushi bar and pizza shop. Everything in the bakery looked incredible! Check out the videos. There was also a dine in seating area as well as an outdoor patio. My friend purchased a pretzel, shredded chicken empanada and a chocolate cupcake with white cream filling and I purchased a ham and cheese sandwich. We shared all of our food findings and everything was delicious. Especially the chocolate cupcake;) I would recommend checking out this grocery store. And don't forget to try something from the bakery!

A gloriously-upscale, new-looking supermarket in the heart of the Cancun tourist zone. Downstairs is a pretty standard Chedraui, but some things seem missing...until you get upstairs. The good stuff is up there. There's an ELABORATE pastry section, a large food court with unexpected offerings like conveyor-belt sushi, a top-shelf liquor selection, and even a vegan/health-food section. The downsides for which I knock off a star: * It's more expensive than Chedraui in the city proper * The dedicated gated parking isn't free, and if you lose your ticket they'll charge a substantial fee rather than going with the time on your receipt like most places would. * The tequila/mezcal selection is more limited than the superstores in the city proper, and they have sales staff whose job is to upsell those liquors, which is annoying when you're trying to browse. Overall-- it's a nice spot to pick up supplies & drinks for much cheaper, do some grocery shopping, or have a light meal. If you're not used to traveling abroad, this is a nice transition to doing something "off resort", and saves a ton of money versus hotel stores. Go forth and explore!

I wish our grocery stores at home were this cool.... especially in a city center. We spent about an hour searching for this "cool place" my dad was describing from his last visit and wanted to eat at for dinner... who knew it was a supermarket! This place has everything you need - toiletries, booze (no service on Sundays!), sushi bar, taco bar, outdoor/indoor seating, cigar shop, fresh produce, deli, cheese cases, gelato and churro shop, a bakery with every type of pastry you can imagine. Mexican bakeries are similar to Chinese bakeries - grab a tray and tongs and fill it up before going to the counter to pay. Beware that they do not wash/sanitize the trays and tongs in between customers! There's something here for everyone, either for grocery shopping or for having a quick meal out. Parking is under the building. Would return.

You can buy wine or beer for your food and drink it in the cafeteria.

Excellent place to buy groceries in Cancun zona hotelera. Cheap and delicious food. Either with AC or outside with a view.

This supermarket is really cool!!We could see great sightseeing at public floor!! Also security is strict.

This is a big, beautiful, multistory supermarket with a bakery, Café, and an eclectic hot foods counter . It has a real nice spot to sit and eat overlooking the lagoon. At first we were really impressed but, after going there a couple of times we found ourselves somewhat less than enchanted. The bakery goods were pretty god but not great and the coffee was subpar at best. I ordered a latte and it seemed watered down so the next day I ordered another latte with an extra shot that seemed equally as watered down. Luckily there is a Starbucks next door. I am not a fan of Starbucks but their coffee was at least not watered down. The other problem with this store is attitude. The service is a lot less than friendly. Also, this is a supermarket so I was blown away by their refusal to make change. If your change comes to more than 15% of the bill you better have plastic because they will not take your money. Seriously, only in Mexico would a store with such a ridiculously obnoxious policy stay in business. It wasn't like I wanted to give them a hundred dollar bill. I tried both a twenty dollar bill and a 500 pesos note and they would not take either for an eight dollar purchase so I had to use a credit card. One other quick tip: They do not pay their baggers but leave them to be beggars. Their only income is from your tips. This is just another prime example of the rich taking advantage of the poor.

If you are staying in the hotel zone this should be the first place you arrive to. I was so overwhelmed by their selection and cheap prices. This is a gigantic 2 story high grocery store that has pretty much everything you need and more to enjoy your vacation. Get your souvenirs, toiletries, alcohol, swim wear, inflatable toys, hot food, groceries, condoms, covid-19 protection and much more all in one place. The top floor has a massive wine selection with even a do-it-yourself wine tasting machine. Note the limited hours when you are able to buy alcohol: Mon-Sat 9am - 11pm and Sun 9am - 5pm. There's also a food court with pizza, pasta, a sushi conveyor belt, slushees and a self service hot food section. There's also a huge selection of baked breads, cakes, pastries and cookies. Minus one star because the baked goods were not covered and I saw some flies landing on them. Their produce selection also appears fresh. Note their packaged cookies and chips have large nutritional warning labels on them! Excessive calories, excessive sugar, excessive sodium, not recommend for kids, kind of labels. So instead of me originally wanting to buy multiples of cookies and chips I just got 1 of each. It totally works! The US should do the same. I highly recommend you to stop here at least once during your trip.

This is the nicest supermarket I've been to in Cancun. It's 3 stories tall with a bakery and food court on the top floor. I came to this place so many times while I was on vacation! The bakery has a great selection at really great prices (about 50 US cents per item). The food at the cafes are also good. I ate breakfast/lunch here a few times. The grocery store also has a great assortment of food and other items that tourists (and even locals) may need. Tourist-y items are a bit overpriced though. I needed sunscreen and it was about $7 USD! But they know that tourists will pay the price for what they need. This is still an amazing supermarket. They accept pesos, USD, and credit card. All the employees here were super kind and helpful. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend this place to pick up any snacks/food or things you may have forgotten while traveling. I wish we had one of these back in the states!!

This contemporary grocery store was located practically next door to our hotel. On the day we arrived, we decided to do some shopping. They have 2 levels and a ground floor parking garage. Joe K and I were impressed at how large and well stocked this chain store was! A non step escalator takes you conveniently up and down the levels that somehow hang on to your shopping cart without any effort on your part! The first floor was more equipped as a Walmart style department store while the second floor was an amazing grocery that had a pizzeria, deli & salad bar, coffee shop & Gelato, delicious bakery, do-it-your-self wine tasting dispenser, huge liquor section, plus all of the other food items one would ever need and expect at a grocery! We visited this place almost on a daily basis to pick up essentials or just eat here. My first impressions were, that this high class store deserves 5 stars for sure! But we eventually experienced some negative aspects that forced me to scale down the star rating. At check out, they frown upon giving too much change back. We were turned down one time because we only had a $20.00 bill. We were treated disdainfully as if it were a counterfeit bill or something. They couldn't even give a reason, just that they refused to accept it. Then we found out that customers are expected to tip the baggers because they are not even paid a wage to work there! They rely heavily on tips only! Buying reusable shopping bags are also a source of income for the people who stand by at check out, hoping you will purchase their bags. And because the employees are paid so poorly, tips are appreciated at all times no matter what department you are dealing with! I can't believe how the local Mexican people are treated here! It's obvious that mostly tourists utilize this store, because they are the ones who can afford to shop at this place! You would think that such a nice store could be more of an upstanding employer for the community!

Gelato!

I am writing this to bring attention to a serious scam that occurred inside your Walmart 24h store…read morein Cancun. During my visit, a man named Mike, wearing a Walmart name tag, approached us inside the store and offered what he claimed was an official Walmart promotion: * 6 round-trip ferry tickets to Isla Mujeres * A full-day golf cart rental * Lunch on the island * Hotel pickup All for USD $120, with a $30 deposit. He repeatedly assured us that he worked for Walmart, not any resort, and that it was NOT a timeshare sales pitch. However, later that night he messaged us saying the pickup would be changed to 8:00 AM so he could take us to another resort for breakfast -- something we never agreed to. When we insisted on sticking to the original 9:30 AM plan, he showed up the next morning and again pressured us to go to the resort to attend a 1.5-hour presentation, which was obviously a timeshare scheme. When we refused, he told us the trip was canceled and that our $30 deposit was being kept by his "boss." He then claimed we would have to return to Walmart to get it back. Before we could even discuss it further, he jumped onto a bus and disappeared. This was misrepresentation, dishonesty, and a clear scam -- all happening inside Walmart premises, by someone wearing a Walmart name badge. I am requesting: 1. Walmart Cancun to investigate how scammers are operating inside your store while appearing to be legitimate staff. 2. The resort involved to take responsibility for using deceptive tactics to lure tourists into timeshare presentations. 3. A refund of the $30 deposit that was taken under false pretenses. 4. Measures to ensure this does not happen to other visitors. Tourists should feel safe inside a well-known retailer like Walmart -- not targeted by scammers pretending to be staff. I hope both Walmart and the resort take this matter seriously and follow up promptly. Notes: Mike and Mike's Boss pictures
